1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a reason why Bitcoin has to be the crypto in the future? on: May 05, 2018, 09:36:29 AM
While I understand that the miners making up the pool can stop mining, is this still not a threat to the network if the three largest pools could collaborate for control?

just FYI a mining pool is not the same as a mining farm. a mining farm owns hashrate because they own the mining equipment. a mining pool is just a server that other miners that own hashrate connect to. so for example if I were a miner with 5 ASICs mining bitcoin, I connect to a mining pool like BTC.com and as a result I will be a part of that 29.6% that you are seeing on that chart.
if some day I see BTC.com is making decisions that I don't agree with, I will simply switch to another pool and decrease that 29.6% and increase another pool's percentage.

in short mining is more distributed than this chart shows.
1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak: Bitcoin is mathematical on: May 05, 2018, 09:27:58 AM
Seems like a complete empty statement, ...

nah it is just another proof that the media is always publishing shit on the internet specially when it comes to bitcoin and double specially when it comes to bitcoin-news-sites! they are always full of shit. these people are talking about bitcoin from time to time then these shitty sites take their statements, butcher it and then publish the butchered result. some time ago they were saying he sold (dumped) all his coins and got out and said bitcoin is dead just because he said he sold bitcoin near $20k!
1943  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I stop panic selling cryptocurrency? on: May 05, 2018, 09:21:29 AM
it is pretty simple. if you find yourself panic selling too often then you have to start rethinking your first decision which was starting to trade. maybe you have to stop trading then because it is not meant for you. come back to trading when you learned how it works specially if your answer to a "panic sell" is to "hold" because it is the wrong answer my friend.

when trading "panic sell" and "hold" are both the two extreme side of the same coin. you should run from one to another.
1944  Economy / Speculation / Re: we're pumpin right now on: May 04, 2018, 01:48:29 PM
just because price is rising, it doesn't mean it is a "pump". you are using the wrong word in a wrong context. you think rise is equal to pump which is obviously a big mistake!
a rise is just a rise, it can have a lot of different reasons and when you see it is a solid rise then it has nothing to do with a "pump". a "pump" is the process of price rising but for fake reasons usually manipulation. this is the most  common thing happening among the altcoins. you can read more about the terms and educate yourself before using it for bitcoin: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pump_and_dump

you're making a lot of assumptions based off a single word. Learn to understand context please. I didn't say its a fake pump, I didn't say whales are pumping, dump incoming. I said it is pumping (aka rising) right now. As in Bitcoin just got a nice price boost, we're heading for $10k. Please, learn context.

the words have certain meanings. in case of "pump" it has nothing to do with the context. I do know that you didn't mean to say it is a "pump" but you should have used the word "rise" instead of "pump". these two words do not have the same meaning even though they have a similar result.

and there is no "fake pump" or "real pump". there is just "pump" which is when price of a commodity is increased based on manipulation and it is a form of fraud.
1945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why do people insist on comparing bitcoin with unrelated altcoins? on: May 04, 2018, 09:38:33 AM
Cause they didn't get in early on into Bitcoin and now want to get the crazy returns that Bitcoin provided to its investors.

a good point.
unfortunately there are also a lot of false promises in form of advertisement when it comes to altcoins and that misleads a lot of newbies into thinking they can become rich if they catch that shitcoin's train early on. but in reality they are buying into an already pumped coin in its bubble and although they may earn a little profit but there is a bigger chance of losing a lot more.
1946  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 04, 2018, 06:30:27 AM
Another player won a significant prize, 0.31058385 BTC, with a small number of lottery tickets(1,587). Just imagine how you would feel after spending less than 2k sats on the tickets and winning 0.3 BTC. Congrats, the player with UID 4682862! Hopefully I will be on your place one day. Smiley

they are not always buying tickets and that is the beauty of this lottery system and why I like it best. you have a lot of ways to "earn lottery tickets"! for example when you claim free coins or play multiplier game you get tickets but the best part is the referral system which will give you 1 ticket for every roll that your referrals make. having a  bunch of active referrals can give you a lot of money just like that.

1948  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price 10k $ on: May 04, 2018, 05:53:45 AM
Why Bitcoin can not cross 10k $?

who said it can't? it can and it will go above $10k pretty soon. it may take a while before the accumulation phase is done but it will happen eventually.

if your English is bad and you meant to say "why it couldn't break it so far?" then it is simply because the market was not ready for the rally to begin. first there was the big drop and the big bear market which was followed by the trend reversal. this takes time to change the attitude from bear to bull and then it needs time for consolidation and accumulation before the big rise happens.
1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Arbitrage between different countries on: May 04, 2018, 05:27:27 AM
i was checking a exchange in africa and the bitcoin there is $18200  Shocked
but...to withdraw they support only local country banks
any idea how to get around this?

That Bitcoin price in that African country would be an interesting arrangement opportunity for an arbitrage deal with other countries selling low. But you would told us the name of the country so that we might try our luck.

in case you missed the date of this post, it belongs to last year (5+ months ago) and bitcoin price has changed a lot since then. there still is a difference between the price in USD and price in African countries because of lack of bitcoin supply there.
additionally I know that bitcoin price was recently a lot higher in Venezuela since there was a surge in demand. you may want to check that out.
1950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is humanity prepared to be its own Bank ? on: May 04, 2018, 05:14:26 AM
for many years (which is basically all the lifetime of people around here) we have been using banks and we are still using them. and when people are used to some specific way of life you can't expect that way to be changed in one day. it takes time. bitcoin was created only 9 years ago and it is not yet 100% ready. some ever consider it still experimental and in its early stages.
so the answer is no, nothing and nobody is ready for this big change but eventually it will happen. not everyone one is going to do it but there will be a day when a lot of people will be their own banks.
1951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what makes some btc coin's wallet addresses start with bc instead of 1? on: May 04, 2018, 04:49:02 AM
there are currently 3 different address formats used in bitcoin.
P2PKH addresses which start with 1 which are the oldest and most common addresses used. the transactions are using a pubkey hash to pay to.
there are P2SH addresses which start with 3 which are using pay to script hash. they mostly are multi signatures but SegWit can also have addresses starting with 3.
and finally the newest format is Bech32 where addresses will start with bc1. these represent SegWit addresses.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address

hopefully this answers your question. I don't quite understand what you mean by "tracked".
1952  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading advise for beginner & exchanger market. on: May 03, 2018, 08:15:05 AM
this is not advice! you are just telling people what to buy and doing it without even explaining why. to me it looks like that you have already bought this coin and want it to get pumped so that you can dump it and cover the losses that you have already endured.

otherwise this coin doesn't have anything interesting for it to get pumped. it may rise or it may not rise, that is all you can say. the fact that it has dropped 36% doesn't mean it will reverse and go back up now. it may drop more to -50% and then continue to drop more to -70% and so on!

the real question that you didn't answer is this:
where is the bottom and what price do you call "low"? and remember being lower than before is not the same as being low.
1953  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How to deposit at bittrex on: May 03, 2018, 07:49:23 AM
my philosophy is that when someone (like bittrex owners) scams people once they will do it again if they get the chance to and I am not willing to give it to them.
There definitely are a lot complaints about Bittrex and their way of operating, but thus far there hasn't been any case of actual scam that I know of. In most cases people call everything a scam when they have a problem.

In the same way a lot other exchanges have to deal with scam accusations as well, but there is no such a thing as a scam until it's actually a scam. Can you point me to a link where what you are referring to is being discussed?

I am using Bittrex too from time to time, and that far before they became as strict as they are right now, but luckily haven't had any problems. The only annoying thing I had to deal with is severely lower withdrawal limits.

I know what you are talking about. it usually is like that, some people have their deposit stuck then they start calling it scam. but in case of Bittrex it is much worse.
you can visit the announcement topic of Bittrex and see the last 50 pages of people complaining https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=463202.0 and also see the trust rating of the owner of bittrex here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=96390
it is not just newbies complaining!

long story short is that Bittrex told people from certain countries explicitly that they had no problems with them trading on their platform so these people made deposits and have been trading with no issues for years. then suddenly without any warnings or any prior news or anything at all, they changed this policy and blocked accounts of all these users and by doing that they effectively broke their promise and stole all their funds. thousands of users were affected by this and the total is in millions of dollars worth of bitcoin and altcoins.
1954  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Careful with Coinmarketcap on: May 03, 2018, 07:09:54 AM
coinmarketcap.com is just a place that lists names of coins with the basic information about them. it is not a website that you use to analyze or use for trading purposes at all. if someone is doing it then they are making a huge mistake! this website or any other website like it is not designed for that. they are information sites that you only use to find things such as the links to each coin's announcement, website,... their supply, max supply,... and even price but just to know how much some coin is worth.
for example in case of this particular coin in OP you use coinmarketcap.com to see if it is worth 0.1BTC or 0.00000140BTC and also to find exchanges that have this coin listed.
1955  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis of the mid-term for Bitcoin price on: May 03, 2018, 06:20:41 AM
4. The consolidation period is much longer, reminiscent of the last extremely long one after the Mt. Gox crash. The next boom doesn't occur until the next halving in 2020.

I disagree with this one.
just because last time it took a longer time to recover from the bear market it doesn't mean each time the bear market has to last that long! not to mention that everything about last time was different. the main reason for that drop was disappearance of the biggest exchange in the whole world controlling more than 80% of the market.
and why aren't you talking about previous bubbles and bear markets? they didn't last this long. we have already have 5 or 6 big bubbles and they all ended fast and bitcoin went back to normal slow rise up like it is doing right now.
1956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to store Bitcoin safely ? on: May 03, 2018, 05:58:37 AM
you basically want a cold storage and to be safe you have to first learn advantages and disadvantages of each method and then learn how to use them in the safest way possible.
for example one of the popular methods is paper wallet, for that you don't really need a separate PC, you can always use a live Linux on a DVD with your internet disconnected and you can use a tool like bitaddress.org source code or any other bitcoin wallet that allows you to export your private keys. then print it on a paper but remember to laminate the paper so that it can last longer.
the disadvantage of this method is that spending these funds is time consuming so it is best used for long term storage that you don't want to touch often.

the other popular method is using a hardware wallet but for that you have to buy one which is going to cost you but you can be safer than using a hot wallet but at the same time you can continue using the funds you have in it as often as you like.
1957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The internet is just a fad! This remind you of anything? on: May 03, 2018, 05:47:47 AM
skepticism is not a bad thing. and it does exist in all of us but with different dosages. as long as we remain skeptical and don't let it blind us, I don't see any problems with that. but if we let this skepticism blind us and cloud our judgment and even lead to missing out opportunities then you are harming yourself and your future. it is always best to use your logic instead of being a hard head denying something entirely or having full faith in it. somewhere in the middle is where I love to always be.
1958  Economy / Speculation / Re: why bitcoin is volatility? on: May 03, 2018, 05:25:17 AM
Why bitcoin is vitality
volatility is noun. volatile is adjective!
"why bitcoin is volatile?"!!

Quote
Why is the votality of bitcoin high?
Bitcoin is a low supply at the time of its growing number of users and it has become a demand for the masses. Many want to buy, Many want to sell in easy-word multiple transactions. When many bitcoin transactions are fast market movements and we do not know what might happen because of the emotion of the seller and the buyer may have the price increase or decrease. So the bitcoin is votality because of the small supply and in-demand.
none of it is explaining the "why" of it. specially since most of these things are already happening in any other market, like emotional trading in stocks market!
and the reason for it is pretty simple actually! it is because the market is small. the price is set on exchanges which happen to have very thin orderbooks compared to the volume that goes in and out of them. that means when a bigger buy or sell takes place a much bigger change in price happens.
1959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Satoshi mined bitcoins owned by the US Government on: May 03, 2018, 05:12:01 AM
What would happen if dollar would lost huge value and the the US Government gives a proof of ownership of Satoshi mined bitcoins?
Maybe this was asked sometime before I applogize for repeating the same question.
In other words what if Bitcoin iwas created by the Government?

no you are the first one who came up with this conspiracy theory. congratulations, your big tinfoil hat does work. you should start making more of those and selling them for profit. Grin

in any case the government is never going to create a decentralized currency which is taking the power from them even if they control a large amount of it. and not to mention if they really created bitcoin then they would have never stopped mining it. that doesn't make sense to create it, mine it for a while then go away and let it grow as a decentralized currency and create lots of altcoins some of which are focusing on decentralization and anonymity even!
1960  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This exchange charge 0 transaction fee on: May 02, 2018, 09:16:32 AM
AlphaBit Cryptocurrency Exchange (ABCC), the first zero-transaction-fee cryptocurrency exchange, is now live.
it definitely is not the first. there have been at least a couple dozen other exchanges with 0 fees. need I remind you of Chinese exchanges that were recently closed?

Quote
We promise zero transaction fee for any transactions.
transaction fees are not the same as trading fees.
your trading fees seems to be zero not transaction fees as the other posters with screenshot pointed out it costs 0.008BTC to withdraw bitcoin for example.

my suggestion is that if you want to be taken seriously then start a proper announcement topic introducing your service instead of creating a shady topic like this where we are not sure if you are the owner or a random dude who stumbled upon this random exchange.
here is the board to do it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0
