i'm about to join the 50/50 club = 50% BTC 50% Monero

obviously i'm not a superwhale but its significant to me.

Please be adviced that 99/1 is the prudent allocation.

I am sorry if this seems dumb but when one says this is it on a USD basis or just coin for coin?

From rpietila"s reply as well as a previous one I take it to mean coin for coin.  But most of us don't have the luxury of having that many coins.  I am 75/25 because I heard voices in my head and although my buy timing was good for btc it has sucked for XMR, at least in the short term.  Those voices have rarely steered me wrong.
2242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: July 16, 2014, 12:02:10 AM
XMR looks really strong in the market. I've been accumulating the past 5 days and seen with my own eyes the buy support grow from 60 to 300+ btc. Meanwhile the price is only up less than 50% from the bottom and still less than the average over time.

It is easy to see a continued uptrend from here. Interesting point will be to see whether it goes over 0.010, which was the top of the previous wave.

(Do not mistake market comments with fundamental analysis.)

Was just looking at the market depth on both Mintpal and Poloniex, the depth on the buy side looks DEEP. I think 50 BTC buys or so at around .003 or so on both exchanges (with the price at .0032-.0034).
The sell side is VERY thin. We do look poised for a (continued) move up, as long as there isn't a large dump.
https://www.mintpal.com/market/XMR/BTC#
https://www.poloniex.com/exchange/btc_xmr

The sell side is always thin.

When the price is going up it's interesting to watch the +0.000001 and +0.000011 (most likely) bots on Poloniex. Grin

The conception of DRK was illegitimate, I will not buy it for this reason alone.

It is very unfortunate the launch happened as it happened. I was pissed off at the start too. The market has probably priced it in by now however.

The market will continue to discount drk as a premine scam until it ceases to be a premine scam, forever.

If there were not the alternative of superior cryptography with a fair launch and open development, drk might have surpassed ltc by now.  That ship has sailed, however, and nothing will bring it back.
Are you daft? The market has already decided that DRK has more potential than CN coins. The price is a representation of the market's view. All the nonsense that you guys spout on a daily basis has already been factored in. And yet it's many times larger than the next biggest anonymous coin.

Only 3 months ago DRK was priced infinitely higher than XMR.  At this rate it should easily surpass drk Grin Grin

We welcome you with open arms Smiley

You do know the motivation for going to the moon don't you?

So... No moon without commies?

Yes, the US was scared shitless when Sputnik was launched.  Any science was an after thought mostly done on the later missions.

I hear some people are looking to go back to the moon Grin Grin Grin

The correct action then, is not to short BTC (which continues its inexorable exponential rise) but to short mankind, which apparently peaked around 1969.

LOL on shorting mankind. What happened in 1969?

I think '71 was the year Nixon severed the dollar from silver once and for all.

From gold.  Silver certificates could no longer be redeemed for metal after 24 June 1968.

IIRC we made it to the moon in July of '69.  Also, I think the U.S. median standard of living peaked about that time.

MLK Jr. was assassinated in 1968, Nixon elected, Timothy Leary arrested. Elvis went to Las Vegas.  AIDS came to the U.S.  Overall the end of the '60s was a very unfortunate turning point.
But the deathknell for mankind was undoubtedly captured on videotape, thusly:  What's New Pussycat?

You do know the motivation for going to the moon don't you?

The following is a better example of Tom from 1969 although he was second fiddle. Cool

At least the poker software is cheap.  $500 for a reliable browser client.

I see 3 potential ways:
1- Offering monero to established merchants, resellers.. as a medium of exchange.
2- Making new businesses and apps to let people buy and spent monero, like a poker site, an auction marketplace.. this is a must for any new coin and each of us who is mighty at this, should start..
3- Engaging monero to btc payment points in someway (maybe something similar to veribit could work well.

Not necessary to mention that options 2 and 3 can bring a good revenue for the one who would try first to run them Wink

anything but gamble! it makes everyone lose but the house, not like I can stop them come to existence but just remember, never gamble, its a mental disease, and there a reason casinos are illegal in many places, the internet is already full of sad histories involving compulsive gamblers and bitcoin.

He didn't say casino he said poker.  The house charges a fee, aka rake, but you don't play against the house you play against other players.  Your decisions matter in poker so you can affect the outcome and it's possible to affect it enough to profit even after paying the rake.

The % of problem gamblers is small and the damage done is not as great as what can result from problem drinking.  Do you think we should allow buying of alcohol?

ETA:  The problem in starting a Monero poker site is that you need a significant player base to enable games to consistently run.  There are several btc poker sites but only one that has any significant traffic.

IMO, XMR has no future, because the market can't withstand such amount of coins. It will only get worse in near future.

Since you obviously have experience, would you please tell me how I can become a sock puppet?

For some reason while running and CPU mining Monero my anemic computer has recently been behaving itself to the point that I tried running a work program at the same time that I had difficulty with previously as it needs to send and receive information in a timely manner.  An hour later and not even a hiccup. Question about tomorrow's 1BTC freeroll:

What timeframe does the 25 hands have to be played in?

Are there any specific stakes/limits that the hands have to be played?

Will eligible players be autoregistered or will we need to register? If so, when will registration open?

Love the site btw...I qualified for the 100k sunday! (I'm scarecard)

regarding xmr - did someone expect that low prices? - I assumed that we find after ATH a new equilibria around 0.005 or at least 0.004

I think we will. Equilibrium is not reached, it took a new wave down.

I also thought that 0.0035 would be a slightly more probable low point than 0.003 and that is again more probable than 0.0025 etc.

It is hard to see that the previous low of about 0.002 would be breached without news.

It could very well be Claymore.  I mean he is getting 5% of any GPU hashing on the network for free.  Low ball guess says 600 a day.  The could suppress pricing.

There are other GPU miners now and also a Claymore without fees.

A lot more than 600/day is being sold.

The total output has to find a home every single day. That means new money coming in, or people willing to mine (which always costs money in some way) and absorb that loss (essentially investing).

Price is determined more by demand than supply. I don't really understand why people obsess so much by supply factors (who is mining, who is selling, etc.) and largely ignore the demand side.

Right now there is ZERO reason to buy this coin (or most coins) outside of speculative interest. Speculation is highly unstable and highly volatile, so it is perfectly logical to see wide swings in price.

Your digging xmr's grave. Nice Job!

Your posts try to be as neutral as positive, which would make sense if you werent a part of the monero core team and werent invested in any coins....being neutral when your apart of the monero core team makes no sense and seems rather stupid/childish....your suppose to support your own coin. Lmao. But whatever.

He is being honest which is a quality much appreciated.

BTW I hear that a pump will be happening shortly.  Don't miss out.  0.02 guaranteed!   Roll Eyes Cool Kiss Lips sealed Tongue  Grin Wink

I agree that more than 600/day is being sold.  It was just a lowball theory.  I haven't seen any functional GPU miners besides claymore's who did drop 5% for less performance.  Do you have links?

I have never GPU mined so I don't know how useful any of the programs are or how they compare.
