2321  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit palming, Low Quality Post Merited. on: September 17, 2018, 03:46:11 PM
it is very bad thing for merit palming. Do not seeing what the moderators.

Palming?
Is this the lingo?

I regularly participate in the Altcoin Discussion Forum. There are many quality posts and good reviews. But it does not seem to have much merit by those who have merit.

Right, their are a lot of posts there that deserve merit but don't get it.. True..

But the section you mention is so full of shitposts that it drowns out the good posters..
People aren't going to read through all the shitposts to find posts to merit.. It's too swamped..
2322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please discuss the opinion and do not look at the rank .! on: September 15, 2018, 11:39:02 PM
snip

It would have been better not to publish this participation
Please delete it

yeah, No..

This would be a defamation of that member
And I do not like it
Only I discuss some behavior and do not discuss people

Maybe I'm wrong in my opinion
Let's discuss behaviors.

The cause behavior I see is all 3 of you trying to communicate in a language that none of you completely grasp..
2323  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit participants – a worrying descending trend (!/?) on: September 15, 2018, 11:33:53 PM
What is a big question mark for me is what could happen with all the sMerit from the initial airdrop that has not been put into their first circulation at any point. The quantity of such is way above what has actually been awarded in total so far, so that is a potential pool of merit abuse that can be slowly leaked into the system at any time… or not. It’s just that there is a lot from the airdrop that is stalled, and you never know how it could be played with if at all.

This is interesting, what do you have for stats on this? By quantity of dormant smerit and % of accounts that have just never used their smerit?

How possible do you think it is that a good portion of these people are still unaware of the whole merit thing and don't realize they have them and should be giving them away?
What if they just don't know?

A reason I suggested what I did (giving higher numbers), not that I think it's the best action possible, but it is a readily available action that doesn't require asking Theymos for anything, which would likely be a nonstarter..
Maybe more sources would be better, but it's not something that can just be done..
2324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please discuss the opinion and do not look at the rank .! on: September 15, 2018, 10:46:45 PM
Hi
I read a comment for a Hero rank
As if she was making fun of Newbie because he had said his opinion
And she pointed out that he is a beginner - it is not right to say opinion
Here I am wondering
Why are some people looking at rank?

Why don't you post a link so we can decide for ourselves?

Could be that this hero is just an asshole.. Could be that this newb said something incredibly stupid.. Or a bit of both..

Ok, here we go.. I found it myself..

Do not panic Forum participants with this topic. Personally, I see many good and promising projects in which the bounty campaigns have good results. Look - there are good ICO. I wish good luck to everyone.

LOL as being a newbie rank in this forum. How do you promise and say that many good bounty projects. I do understand your feeling about worthy project but with this rank. I am not sure how you are saying this. May be this your alt.
Let's talk about the topic, it's really worth to participate in worthy ICO and make money once it has been listed in the exchange.

Why do you care about the rank only?
Criticize the opinion of logic and do not judge through the rank.!
We are not in an army.

I think what is going on here is you guys don't even understand eachother..

The newb says "promising projects" and hero understands the post as if the newb was making a promise that the projects are good.. ??
I think..

If you aren't proficient in English enough to post proper sentences, is it extra hard to comprehend other posts that are also not the greatest English? Likely I think..

If the newb was promising that projects were good I don't think it would be completely out of line to blast him for his rank, but it doesn't look like that was what he was trying to say so......

You didn't pick up on this yourself OP?
idk, their isn't much more to say about it.. I don't think this would have happened if you were all proficient in the language of the board you are posting on..

2325  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone delete these posts and ban this person/their accounts on: September 15, 2018, 02:30:15 PM
I lol'd

Sorry about the thread damage but that's pretty comical..

Today is the 10th anniversary of the Lehman bankruptcy. Returns if you bought stocks at the close that day and held to today...
JP Morgan: +285%
S&P 500: +198%
Wells Fargo: +126%
Goldman Sachs: +93%
Morgan Stanley: +75%
Bank of America: +27%
Citigroup: -51%

https://twitter.com/charliebilello/status/1040943672848736256

Nice recovery
Only surpriced about Citi

doesn't even seem worth getting out of bed for compared to Bitcoin, lol..
Suckers!!

If that chart isn't adjusted for inflation, in 10 years, it's even less impressive..
2327  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit participants – a worrying descending trend (!/?) on: September 15, 2018, 01:39:01 PM
It would be pretty simple for sources to realize this and start awarding 3X-10X the merit they are awarding, just type in a bigger number..
Instead of awarding 1, 2, 5 merits, which seems to be the norm, they could take the lack of merit in circulation into account, and award 5, 10, 20 merits instead..
It wouldn't be any more work and would get more smerit flowing out there..
The sources do basically have a surplus of smerit to send don't they?

I understand it's pretty easy to decide what posts deserve merit, but how do you decide how much merit they deserve?
Obviously more merit for better posts but how much is a lot and how much is so small it's just insignificant?

I guess you would have to decide how much the person deserves to rank up VS how much merit it takes to accomplish that for them..

Theymos awards many 10, 20, and 30 blocks of merits, maybe he is trying to lead by example?
In comparison if you look at LoyceV, this person awards merit a lot, but they are almost all just 1s and 2s..
Jetcash, almost all 1s 2s and 5s..

Why not 5s, 10s, and 15s?
If it's worth your time for the clicking and deciding isn't it worth more than just 1?
Trading with satoshis is fun but it doesn't get you anywhere quick..

Also, how good does a post really need to be to be worthy of merit? I guess atleast worth your time to click the buttons (which could possibly be more efficient)..

But I mean, with the average quality of posts around here, how much above and beyond a non-shitpost does a post need to be to be worth merit?
If it was an easier one click deal, just simple constructive comments may be as worthy of a merit as a simple like click on youtube..

Maybe someone could come up with a little bot, script, or browser extension or whatever, so when you click the +Merit button it automatically just sticks a 2 in the box, clicks send, and closes the new tab that popped up..
So you could just set that mofo to full auto and one click, bam, 2 merits, and you could merit a lot more posts small amounts of merit more easily..
To bypass the bot and award a 10 merit block, right click the +Merit, open in new window, so the bot doesn't act on it, and fill it out manually, but have your 2 merit on speed dial..

Maybe something like that would let them put down a lot more volume of merited posts if they like their 1s and 2s so much..

I think suggesting to have it changed in the forum software is eh, maybe after a long time..
I would almost like to suggest activity period smerit airdrops similar to the original airdrop but I don't think suggesting changes to the forum itself is the answer.. We should try to do the best we can with what we have to work with, imo..

suchmoon is the most generous.. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topsend
This source seems to be awarding all 4s, previously all 7s and before that all 5s..

2nd is chimk
all 1s, 2s, and 3s..

Foxpup @ 3
1s-6s

qwk @ 4
mostly 1s and a few higher here and there..

Are 1s even worth clicking for?

It would be pretty easy for any of them to get to the top of that board by doing what Suchmoon does, awarding all 4s instead of so many 1s.. Or even higher..

https://www.blockchain.com/charts/trade-volume?timespan=all
USD volume seems to be increasing since june..

CMC since june

Up a little..

Price has pretty much been the same since then excluding a high it hit..

the end of june seems to also have been the lowest low price...

Was june the bottom?
Is june the reversal?
moon soon?
2329  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2018, 02:39:20 AM
Got a link please ?

aw shit I meant to post it..

https://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/volume/6m?c=e&t=b

Naw, that can't be right either..

It shows the volume falling off in jan of 17..
I can't imagine that to be the case buy why..Huh

The pie chart colors correspond to different exchanges than the chart colors with a different legend, lol wtf..

looks like around that time the Chinese exchanges got their volume cut from the count? idk
2330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2018, 02:34:10 AM
Not meaningless but fair criticism.

Agree..

Just googled and found this one

It's pretty cool and has a pie chart of the exchanges volumes like you usually see for mining pools hash rate.. Nice!

So yeah, by BTC volume it does look a bit slow..
But that in USD these days is a big deal apparently..
2331  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2018, 02:20:17 AM
if you could find one that charts total volume across all exchanges that would be worth analyzing.

That's why I chose the CMC chart, but I didn't find a button to turn the vol into btc.. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#charts
I like to use the bitcoinwisdom chart but the vol wouldn't be accurate for the entire market..

It's crazy how a tiny exchange will grow to be the biggest exchange and then all the volume will just go to another exchange and they never stay the same.. The volume just flows around..
2332  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 11:38:10 PM
Volume is piss poor.

Volume is maintaining nicely IMO. It is still higher than any point in history other than during the great pump and some of the worst of the dump..
Maybe this could be considered the new base volume to be expected on the low end, but since the pump their must be more money flying around constantly..

Granted it is USD volume, and with BTC being so much higher that means more USD for the same amount of BTC so it is definitely possible that previous volume was higher if measure in the amount of bitcoins traded rather than the USD value of the trades..
2333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 10:56:25 PM
I sold my bitchcoin too soon and had that crap feel as I saw it pumped up after I had let mine go.. But now, it doesn't feel like I sold them too soon anymore..

I was never a bcash lover but I'll admit for a while there I was a bit nervous about it, having dumped all of it I could reasonable get to on my keys.. If it took over I would have been screwed but now I'm not worried about it anymore. They tried their best to harm and replace Bitcoin and now it is clear that they have failed..

I got the first post on this (infamous?) "@RogerVer lets make a deal. At least 60k, my BTU for your BTC." thread and at first it looked like he was going to take the deal, and my call was wrong, but he never did take the deal, and my call was eventuall right!!
Ha!

Does anyone know if Ver ended up losing a bunch of money on his beecoin blitz or did he pump and dump enough to make it have been worth his while?

I still have a cas half with .5 Bcoin on it and a lot of other forks still on old seeds I have cycled out of service, that I need to eventually get to and dump..
Ledger needs an update so I might as well get my BTC off of it first and then start it up with a new seed, so I can compromise the old seed trying to claim forks..

Edit: maybe their is some question as to who backed out but when it was still going down I think I recall Ver backing out first atleast..
2334  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 09:36:01 PM
Given the number of threads in Meta over the last few days/weeks/months complaining about the state of the forum, the ridiculous levels of bounty spam, asking for more mods and suggesting about 100 other ideas for improvement, would it not be wise to focus on the forum first before taking on a new project?

Maybe Theymos wants to keep the forum more libertarian and wild west anarchic than what a lot of people calling for, quite authoritarian action at times..

He just made a huge move with the merit system, which is done in quite a good distributed way in my opinion, and hasn't even taken full effect yet.
Maybe he doesn't want to hand people more ultimate authoritarian power over others, such as powerful mods to wield their banhammers at their discretion, like many are calling for..

Benjamin Franklin, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Yeah I copy and pasted that don't ban me..

Yeah their is a subset of members that hang out around meta, most with the best of intentions.. They all have the merits and DT trust and mod power and all the goodies..
They are trying to do good but not everyone completely believes in the same principles that they do, the ways of going about things..

It is pretty obvious to me that Theymos is trying to give the power to the community in a distributed manner through the trust system and now merit system.. It might not be perfect but nothing is perfect..

Theymos, being an OG crypto cypherpunk kind of guy, it occurs to me that he likely has some different ideals than those trying to find solutions to the problems via power and control..
2335  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 08:46:34 PM
It won't,not until moderation becomes strict and tight. Spamming will only become more. There are downsides to his: More spamming, more work for mods, which would lead to more spending. You should focus more on the members who left this place(because they stasrted hating it). New members wouldn't get what bitcoin is for a while, and they would keep asking the same questions again and again.

Don't bother starting a youtube channel or anything would bring more population to bitcointalk,so long as things are bad here. If you start youtube, more things would become a "priority" then. First, try getting rid of current issues, this will only add up as a burden to you.

It works for 4chan and that places is a cesspool no better than bitcointalk..
Not an official channel that I know of but a lot of videos about what goes on there..

I think spammers come from people searching how to make money online..
People searching for bitcoin on youtube may not all be the type to spend countless hours spamming and chasing bounties for a few satoshis. They likely have lives, atleast somewhat, and would mostly reach English speakers..

I think it would be great along with a strong welcome message including a disclaimer of the pitfalls and perils real "interested in bitcoin" newbs could face here..

Answering questions about how to use bitcoin, how bitcoin works, how to follow your transactions in a block explorer, stuff like that, is a whole lot better than all the questions about how to get merit so they can make more money spamming, questions about bounties and "earning" etc..
2336  Other / Meta / Re: Why was my YuTü.Co.in user account banned for 7 days? on: September 14, 2018, 08:29:20 PM
how unfortunate
2337  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 06:42:55 PM
This is what I'm seeing...

The highs have come down in a reverse parabolic manner, much like the way it went up but the other way around..
The lows seem to be bottoming in a more linear fashion, with a slight downtrend which I don't like to see too much but it is what it is..

No mater, the trading channel continues to narrow and that I do like to see.. The channel will keep getting narrower and narrower and eventually BTC is going to have to break out of this channel if it maintains any volatility at all, unless we expect BTC to completely stop swinging, which I don't..

I think it will remain in this channel for a while, with the swings getting smaller, tightening up, to stay in the channel, until it just cannot take it anymore and breaks out..

which way will it break? I think it will break UP out of the channel but could break down.. I will be watching for the price to break out of this pattern in either direction and then I will be confident that exciting things are about to happen, for dump or for glory, something is gonna happen..

I don't think it is going to happen soon.. It seems to be forming itself to the pattern quite nicely, tightening up its swings, and hasn't felt too claustrophobic yet..

Another thing it really looks like to me is how we would mark Instantaneous Shut In Pressure, ISIP, in the oilfield..

I had to draw one..

Pretty much when your pumping 10,000 psi on a well which has a natural surface pressure of about 3,000 psi or so, when you stop pressure pumping all of a sudden the pressure drops and then bounces like this when the pressure finds it equilibrium..
The bounce tapers out like that in a slight downtrend and eventually flattens out to a steady pressure once it settles..

So like BTC was getting pumped at 20k psi, pumps stopped, it charts a textbook ISIP trace and finds its equalibrium, which thankfully for us seems to be around 6k, as apposed to 1k or whatever it could have been..

I for one am not too sad to see BTC in the 6k area, lol.. Pretty nice, it could be much worse.. = their is a lot of natural pressure in the well of users considering it was only in the hundreds before the pumping started, the fracks must have worked exposing the well of BTC to much more natural pressure (people) than their was previously..

Fracking pretty much exposes the well to more surface area in the target formation, where their is pressure..
In this case the target formation is the eyes and wallets of the general public, so the big pump on BTC has broken it's awareness out to a bunch more surface area of the general public and investors, where their is buy pressure, and now that it is better exposed their is more natural pressure from the exposure, and we are having bottoms in the 5k-6k range rather than the 300-400 range we started at..

2338  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 14, 2018, 03:23:15 AM

That's quite a hit! Even with up to 100X leverage the guy must have lost atleast what, 50k BTC? Is that math right?

You guys sure we trust their reported volume? That's a rediculous lot and by the looks of that twitter page it happens often..

If you look at them all most of them are shorts getting squeezed lately, scrolling a little ways..

No the 5 million number is the amount of USD lost. So at 100x leverage the person lost over 50k worth, so about 8 BTC lost.

I know they are vol pumped with leverage but yeah that brings it back to reality..

The way they say it, sounds like # of coins @ price ..

Quote
"With $ETH price dropping below $200, @Decentraland's @TonySheng says narratives will continue to fuel #crypto market trends in the absence of clear regulation and valuation methods. https://ban.cr/ShengNarratives"
Better insert quote tags so I don't get accused of something..

Do you think what he is trying to say is that the only way for ETH to quit dropping is for the government to take over?

Sounds like it and I completely disagree..

If that what's his trying to point out then I also disagree with him.

He has a point about the narratives driving the market, but regulation and valuation? would just be another part of the narrative..
Like wtf, Do they want the government to say "Ok, ETH is worth $500 today." ??

Well that might sound dandy to some but they are never going to say that it's worth $20k because they wouldn't let that happen..
Like some authority is going to tell us what ETH is and is not worth, lol..

Regulations is just one piece of the puzzle. Of course narratives will fuel the market, we have seen this in the past and its either work in favor or against us. ETH dramatic fall has something to do with ICO's dumping as fast as they are being born every minute. The closest thing we can see government entering the picture is regulations, but I doubt it can put a dent for the long run. For me, ETH still has the fundamentals with its Dapps, but I would say that ICO's and EOS attach are partly to blame for its massive declined this year.

Right, but if the ICOs are to blame for atleast part of the crash then they must also be to blame for atleast part of the pump correct?

So to me that means that ETH needed them to get that high in the first place..
