Form 3949-A completed to be mailed.

I did not realize until talking to an agent that I could qualify for up to a 30% reward!   That means I could potentially refund part of the money lost by the initial scam victims.  Smiley

OG sure is going crazy with the edits on his sites...   does he realize everything is archived?

Reporting users you are arguing with to the IRS to satisfy a personal vendetta is wrong..

Talk about choosing words.. "How is crypto affected by reporting suspected fraud?"
More like "Should I call the IRS on someone I don't like to try to get them into trouble?", which is what I see going on here..
1962  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod is a liar. on: May 10, 2019, 02:32:19 PM
Everybody should care...

No, you should stay out of other people's business when it comes to the government who will throw you in prison for years over a technicality..

You may believe crytpo is just an open book to scam

Scam what? The IRS?
The IRS is the biggest scam in history and they don't just trick you out of your money, they come with a gun and take it, and will take you too!

How would you feel if they no-knock raid his house and he gets killed, they kill his dog, or he loses everything over some stupid forum disagreement after you sent the government to his, a Bitcoiner's, house?

If they find Anything at all on him after going over him with a fine toothed comb they can easily freeze and/or confiscate all of his assets including the money he is holding for the forum for who knows how long..
You are sending the IRS after the treasurer of this forum and this forum's BTC stash!

Maybe you guys trust in the government to always do what's right including get the coin back to Theymos but who knows, they could pull another Shaun Bridges or whatever them crooked feds might come up with. I don't trust them one bit, not to mention all the hassle it could create for Theymos..

I don't advocate for intentionally breaking any sort of laws, but screw the government..

my "SEC friend"

Are you a government snitch too? Over some small time mining operation?

Hoping for good news on this..
1964  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod is a liar. on: May 10, 2019, 08:49:57 AM
What the fuck do you care if he pays any taxes at all or not?
You are really going to try to snitch on a fellow Bitcoiner to the IRS about taxes?
1965  Economy / Reputation / Re: Poetry, by TMAN on: May 02, 2019, 05:52:13 PM
Vulgar personal attacks, name calling, and condescension, are not impressive to me in the least, but I fully support the freedom to do so..

I don't see my favorite answer from TMAN:

Arguing with an Idiot is like playing chess with a pigeon.. no matter how good you are, the bird is going to shit on the board and strut about like it won anyway...

It provides a good summary of the "debates" of recent months. Answer of the year 2019 (for me).
Plagiarism!!
No not really. It is just a very common saying, so common that it gets the pass, and rightly should..
1966  Other / Meta / Re: [Choose 1]Trade Forum accounts, or DT neg trust for trading accounts - banned on: April 30, 2019, 10:54:30 PM
Would you trust an account that has a proven and long trading history?

Would you trust the same account with a notice "ownership changed"?

Yes, up to some of the value of the account even if I knew it was sold, depending on other research such as for hacks or other questionable activity..

If I was to place trust beyond the typical value of the account, such as to a "long trading history", then I would be trusting the person's identity and would be looking for a common business address of that identity, a signature of the identity, recent use of the actual identity, etc..
On the other hand I would also trust a good identity posting from a newb account, or an account with no value.
1967  Other / Meta / Re: [Choose 1]Trade Forum accounts, or DT neg trust for trading accounts - banned on: April 30, 2019, 10:12:07 PM
How much safer do you feel now, before and after, all known account sales have been red tagged? How much more do you trust random accounts now then you did before?
I don't think I feel any more or less safe. What positive has really been accomplished by it?

You really should consider that any account you deal with may be sold and get a signed address or key from them that has been staked just as before, and should inform newbs of possible scams just the same.

The spammers just use lower ranked accounts now. ANNs are posted by newbs. Red trust means less on the surface. Account values are probably still pretty close to the same.

I think I would still trust another user just about up to the value of their account just as I did before.

My argument as to why buying accounts is helpful to the forum has always been along the lines that if someone pays $100 to buy an account, they are effectively paying a $100 bond in which they promise to not try to scam and to not post so much garbage they end up getting banned -- if they do either of these things, the value of their account goes to nearly zero, and they lose the $100 they paid for their account. If they try to scam someone, they must scam for at least the value of their account, and if their attempt is called out before it is successful, they will lose the $100 they paid.

On the other side, I have previously argued a person should be able to sell their account because it allows them to obtain money for their account if in need. This gives someone an incentive against scamming someone if they are desperate for money -- they can sell their account instead.

I think it is still this way IMO, it's just less common knowledge.

I think another reason account sales were good for the forum was the economy that grew around it. It was a very interesting economy and I'm sure attracted many people. It was cool to be able to create actual value by growing your account. The market cap and volume of accounts was high. Account sales were great for the lending economy which created jobs for lenders. It was more ways for people to make BTC and more general cashflow around the forum.

Almost all of that economy cashflow, transacting in cryptocurrency, on this forum, is now completely gone which I think hurt the economy of the forum and the economy of Crypto. Their are still account sales but I think the marketcap of available accounts and volume of cashflow is now very small.

I liked the wild-west style of the forum back then, closer to anarchy, you had to learn to watch out for yourself and be responsible for your own well being.
The forum was a lot more exciting and interesting back then IMO.

For the poll, I don't think anything is going to change and don't think that undoing all of the redtrust is a realistic option nor is banning all sold accounts.
It just is what it is now and the forum is ever slowly moving from being the new frontier to the USSR, as is the usual cycle of civilization.

More and more rules and regulations come all the time like the account sales, merit system, new trust system, always just more and more bureaucratic crap.

Leaving negative feedback on an account that has been bought does not inhibit that person.
Have you considered that posting the negative feedback is just destroying like $100 of that person's assets and $100 of value in the cryptocurrency ecosystem?

I know it's going to be a disaster to enforce and will never be implemented, but bear with me: what if accounts sales would only be allowed if they happen out in the open, with a clear public record of when an account changed hands? Green trust should be reset, a neutral tag added to show the account changed hands, and red trust stays (to prevent scammers from abusing this to clear their trust).
If an account was sold in private but gets caught, it broke the "public record" rule and will get banned. The risk of a ban might motivate account buyers to publish the trade.
Of course, this would only work in an ideal world, so hilarious' idea to just sell perks to accounts is probably a better solution Smiley
No matter how transparent it is they will just tag it anyway and it only takes 1..
1968  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is staying out of debt, legitimacy? on: April 30, 2019, 05:26:28 PM
"Is staying out of debt, legitimacy?"

Not necessarily.  It depends on how you use it. Not defaulting on debt is legitimacy..
Their are many excellent and very legitimate things you can do with debt and also very terrible things you can do with it. It is up to you.
Some people use debt to make investments and get rich while others use debt for frivolous things and get/stay very poor..
You should never default or be late no matter what you use debt for..

Is that what Christians look like where you come from? Is that what you think Christians look like? Christians are shirtless redneck white blue eyed blond southern rebels with pump shotguns while the muslim is in white robes with a proper weapon?
For not being from where southern rebels exist what do you know about such a person and why would you conflate that with Christians in general?
It looks to me like you want to disparage the image of a Christian.. No?

I am a Christian by believe but free-spirited by ideology I reside in a place predominantly occupied by Muslims but I have survived here by not enforcing my religious thoughts on others and share understanding.

Are you admitting that you would not survive among muslims as a Christian if you acted like the muslims living among us Christians do?
1971  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A radical left-right compromise US budget on: April 27, 2019, 04:14:06 PM
I would sail away..
Buy a sailboat and take my free income traveling the world, avoiding the national sales tax by buying everything in other countries, and land taxes by not living on land.

I like the idea of removing income tax because we could eliminate most of the IRS and money leaching bureaucracy but property taxes are already bad enough.
I am concerned that property may not be as good of an investment as one would think because the government can change their mind at any moment and tax you right off your land, or if property value skyrockets in your locality you will be taxed out of affordability.

The UBI, well I think I could live like a king in south america for that money.
I like your idea that more humans are good as far as reproduction of productive people but every person in the world will be trying to come get their piece of that UBI and I highly doubt they would average net-positive.. We would need some serious immigration control and very nice walls. How are you going to keep non-citizens from getting UBI like they get all the other welfare now?

Do you really think that UBI will cover medical? What if the poor guy needs $300k worth of work to live but would live? Who is going to pay for that, or are you going to pull the plug on him because of money? Pulling the plug on people over cost is another discussion entirely..

I think this would also be a dangerous step toward communism. It is giving them a lot more than an inch and they will never stop grabbing at the mile.

This sounds a lot like National Socialism which might work if you can hold onto the National part but it will be very hard for it not to turn into open-boarders socialism attracting millions of net negatives from around the globe. It only might work if you can strictly keep to your base of highly productive people. For all non highly productive people this would be the holy grail to come take advantage of, and me dipping out in my sailboat because if this is what society is I want no part of it.. I would be demoralized about paying for so much free stuff and just drop out, unless you somehow take my citizenship gibsmedat away for traveling.

I much prefer a dog eat dog may the best man win society where the unproductive would be let to fail and leave. I would prefer society to use a distributed currency such as Bitcoin but if this nation must have a fiat currency I would prefer only tax via inflation where they would just print money for gov spending taxing everyone equally through the gradual devaluation of the currency.

Sort of but ethereum is not immutible like Bitcoin so it's not a good "forever" thing like BTC.

I don't like seeing history deleted. Deleting trust ratings removes some of the story if looking back at a situation from a later time..
I thought you guys were proud of all of your retaliatory untrusted feedback? I think you should be and it usually just helps you prove your point.

I have no idea about this user.

JanEmil's sent feedback looks excellent to me though I only count 36 so he must have deleted some..

I'm not a firm believer in being so stingy with positive feedback nor do I like the concept of deleting old feedback very much.
If someone gets negative trust it's not like you need to go pulling all of your old positive feedback to them because the trust score algorithm easily covers old positive with new negative. I think leaving feedback is a big decision and once you decide you should really be prepared to stick to your decision, as it becomes historically significant to understand situations at the time. Even if you have positive trust on an account you can just also put a red tag to counter it if you want.
When I am researching an account I want to see all of the history of it so deleting old feedback sucks, especially when looking way back at historic happenings.

JanEmil has left a lot of positive feedbacks with no reference
A lot of said feedbacks are for insignificant trades or with no indicated value

asche, not a single one of your received positive feedback has a reference, and 7 or 8 out of 10 of them are not even for trades, just opinions, only 2 having indicated value..
Half of your sent positives have no reference and half are not even for trades, just opinions.

Awww..... It looks like BitcoinWisdom.com has finally thrown in the towel on pricing updates. Sad, I've used it since the beginning.....

Times change.

Aye, end of an era. I have reserved a seat for it in price-watching heaven next to Clark Moody.

I have been watching BW longer than I have had this account..

A nice alternative of BitcoinWisdom.com: Cryptowat.ch
Thanks for the link. I use the Cryptocoin price index site, but I liked the quick clean interface of BW more. However it's been falling apart for awhile, guess the last API links finally dropped dead.

Such is change.

You know about bitcoinwisdom.io (instead of bitcoinwisdom.com), right?

bitcoinwisdom.io seems to work a little bit better with more recent updates to the various APIs and a few more updated options (not that I give any shits about the various shitcoins pairs that can b looked at in the new site, but those additional (new) options are there).

Thanks!! IO works good
1979  Other / Meta / Re: QS Merit Source Application on: April 06, 2019, 06:55:33 PM
I think QS can be trusted to be a merit source..
I'm pretty sure QS has a decent stash of coin so it's not like he is going to sell them to try to make a few satoshis, and he has proven that he can accumulate his own merits just fine without the need to cheat the merit system.

I personally would also trust QS to hold loan collateral or trust him in a trade to higher amounts than I would trust many green trusted members but that would be my own money. I do not think QS is trying to scam and even if he was I imagine he would probably be doing it under a different account more suitable for that purpose.

Everyone likes to call QS an "escrow scammer" but that isn't the entire story. He was running an anonymous escrow service at the same time as he was running separate anonymous sales services and would escrow his own trades, from 2 different businesses/accounts, while at the time they were not believed to be under the control of the same person.
I agree that it is a somewhat shady practice but he never blatantly scammed anyone, and others have admitted to self escrowing the same way QS did and still are trusted because they didn't lie about it and stopped when it became unacceptable.
He is not the only one who did it. It was the wild west back then, similar to the account sales situation.

The problem with QS is that he was caught lying about the self escrowing and lying is a good reason to lose your trust around here.
More problems with QS ever sense, and probably continuing to this day, his personal vendettas and fights back and forth with other forum users, mostly over the escrow scandal, where QS has taken fights too far, and came from unreasonable and malicious positions at times.

Where I do not trust QS is, though he is highly intelligent, articulate, and "in the know", he is very biased against certain other users so if he makes a good point it may be exaggerated towards his favor and not the entire story. He knows a lot of stuff but is very onesided at times, so when you read what QS says be sure to do your own research about the entire situation because it may be part of his agenda.

I also think that QS has made some progress in the last year or so towards being good for the community and stopping his fighting. It is a shame that he has made his mistakes and bad decisions because he has the intelligence to have been a great asset to the forum otherwise.

Also I commend QS for continuing under his ruined account, but I would not doubt that he has other unknown accounts, possibly even DT accounts if he wanted, because he is smart enough to pull it off..
If QS is going to scam it will be bigger than what he can pull off from the QS account I would think. If QS is a scammer he is a very dangerous scammer because he has the ability in his knowledge and intelligence.
QS is a great scambuster because he understands the social engineering behind them, and therefore understands how to social engineer a scam.. I saw this post in another thread..
Scammers would most likely choose part two (trading) for their scams because part one (scammer research) takes too much time and effort.
I disagree with that because the person that does the scammer research and the scambusting will have a great education in all the ways to scam, what to do to cover your tracks, avenues and scenarios to set up a big scam, social and trade engineering, and how to get away with it. They would be much less likely to try some petty scam but if they were trying to scam they would be a very dangerous enemy, a mastermind.

I do understand other people's anger toward QS, those who have been in a fued with QS where QS has resorted to unreasonable tactics, and do not blame them if they never forgive him. I doubt he will ever be completely trusted but I do think he is/could come to be a positive asset for the forum.
If anyone can spot a scammer, or a possible scam situation, it is QS..

In conclusion I do not think that we need to worry too much about QS trying to sell merits, it being such a petty scam, where merit is so transparent, and Theymos has the ability to stop it immediately and reverse it at any time.
