shit man, fargo (tv series) is pretty fucking awesome.. the dialogue is so weird that i love it. reminds me very much of like a marriage between no country for old men and fargo. the minnesotan accent isn't as exaggerated.

Game of Thrones is goooooood. Cheesy

It is the best season i have seen so far .

Really?   IMO it has started off kind of slow... it was cool when the King got killed that guy was so annoying.  Just watching him made me cringe

this season is supposed to be the best, since it follows the 3rd (best one) so far in the series. after this season, the story goes downhill i hear.. i only got up to book 3.

Tonight's episode of Fargo was really good. I am really impressed with that show so far... The dreams is good with just enough dark comedy.

i will have to check it out.. didn't like the original movie much, but i recently told myself to re-watch again... since i didn't "get" what the big lebowski was about about, and eventually.. during a not so sober situation, i totally "got it" and it just blew my mind.

Honestly the movie came out so long ago, and I remember thinking it was pretty good, but not understanding all the rave reviews. But this show is good. At least 8 out of 10, and i am a tough scorer.

The Cohen Brothers films are always overrated. Haven't seen the TV series yet though.

go to hell m8.. coen brothers make great films. they aren't like any other kinds of movies. they are weirdly familiar to me.

You don't play this game very well, do you?

don't you think something might have gone over your head.. before you said this?

after boardwalk empire ends next season, i will only have 1 more "top tier, holy fucking shit" type show left.. game of thrones. just lost breaking bad months ago... the greatest show of all fucking time. now i'm down to game of thrones, and i hear it gets boring after this season.

I haven't watches Boardwalk Empire yet. I heard really good things about it though. What would you give it on a scale of 1-10?

i'd say about a 8 .5/10. it's a great show, very complicated. there's so much that you have to read in between the lines, because the characters are always speaking in metaphors. it's a nice brainfuck. i also like period pieces like this.. feels like a different world. i liked seasons 1-3, but the quality kinda went down last season.. though not by much. season 4 was still ridiculously good.

for scaling, i'd rate game of thrones 9.5/10 and breaking bad 10/10.

What's up guys...I just wanted to start a thread to see how many people around here are local to me.  I'm from Southern California...  so far I have ran into a couple people here that live super close to me.   We are going to throw a big bash once BTC skyrockets again....which will most likely be sooner than later Grin

If you are from Southern California, drop by and say hi...

I'm from Northern California. I've met and dealt with a few people with BTC but no gatherings or parties, yet!

Where in SoCal are you located? I've been down there a few times this year for business/pleasure.

Orange County...where in Northern CA are you from?

sweet, i'm in orange county too. i hope you guys aren't super anarchists who are hell-bent on convincing everyone that your ideology is right and everyone else is wrong. that has been my experience with my limited bitcoin meetups at least. i don't mind bitching about the government, i just don't like arrogant extremism.

what's up man.  No definitely not super anarchist here...super disappointed with current government spending and decision making, but definitely don't consider myself a super anarchist..haha

where in OC are you? i'm more northbound, near cypress/GG/westminster. there is a bitcoin/anarchist group that meets around OC, but i'm not sure if i want to meet up with those people due to aforementioned reasons.

All over...I was born in Newps...but lived a long time downtown HB.  I wouldn't become part of an anarchist group (even if I shared their views), I am not into getting onto Federal watchlists...lol

never thought of that, but it's probably true that the FBI does follow those people  Cheesy

funny thing is, i remember seeing a guy wearing a beret at a meetup  Cheesy

Oh they for sure do. Once you are tagged they monitor your emails and internet for sure.

well, in that case, i just want to make sure that i profess my undying love to my country, and its great bureaucratic government system. i'd also like to add that i am happy they are keeping me safe from all those terrorist countries that have been attacking us since 9/11.
2808  Other / Off-topic / Re: Colonizing Mars on: April 22, 2014, 06:59:28 AM
our governments aren't funding space exploration.. and private businesses won't do it either, since it doesn't really provide much for returns on investment. i think there would need to be a channel or tv show that would accompany it, so that it could be monetized somehow.

They are doing exactly that. Mars One is making a reality show out of it.

Also guys, SpaceX will want to do this because they want to get more business. If their ship succeeds for these missions they will have a line of customers a mile long. Think about it...

do you think it would be possible if we did have a settlement, and there was a reality-type TV show, that it wouldn't be epically popular? i think the world has gotten so dumb (especially the us govt) that the show wouldn't be a hit to the majority of the world.

i don't mean to bitch, but it seems like people in this country are no longer inspired by science, life, art, people, and the mysteries of the cosmos. wasn't it different in the 60's? our media wasn't so inundated with junk/noise... and people actually cared about these things. hell, even in the 80's during the height of carl sagan's popularity.. kids would actually watch this shit and be WOWED by it. today, at the age of 8, you have a bunch of kids with smartphones, tweeting and watching lady gaga wear a meat dress.. that's what "inspires them." we are getting dumber as a people.. how the fuck can that actually happen when we're so much more technologically advanced?

lol, i will stop the rant here.. sorry for derailing this topic.

so where is OP's source? inflation rates are actually a measly 1.5%.. that's considered "low" by economists. we are reaching a point where all those printed dollars will explode, but at the moment not enough people are spending the money.
2812  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why does a religious body (church, temple, mosque etc.) require so much money on: April 22, 2014, 02:01:05 AM
religion and the church are tax-exempted enterprises, that's why. when someone knocks on your door asking you to convert, that's just their pawns working for them.

i've been teaching myself to be able to discern bullshit from truth, but not to be too cynical when judging others. russell isn't perfect, but i don't doubt that he really believes what he says.

2818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Putin a modern day Lincoln? on: April 22, 2014, 01:47:06 AM
if lincoln had a ganster-like mentality and was very much into croneyism for personal interest.. then yes, they are very much alike. i'm not saying he's the only bad guy.. it seems like everyone is. the only difference is that putin doesn't give a fuck.
