341  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My S9 Heater version on: January 11, 2021, 11:02:19 PM
Change the fan to Delta AFB1212SHE (I think). Single fan will be fine. You will need to change the firmware. Braiins OS works fine. You will need Braiins OS+ to be able to set a power usage figure. I have mine set to 775w now and it gets 10Th. Change the psu to whatever psu you like aslong as it has the right amount of PCIE cables. Personally the HP common slot supplies with appropriate breakout board abs cables works well.

Why did you install the newest firmware?
343  Economy / Computer hardware / WTB (UK) S9J 14.5Th Hashboards on: January 11, 2021, 06:32:19 PM
I'm after 3 working S9j 14.5Th hashboards.

Need to be shipped to the UK so price would need to include shipping. I'm asking for just the hashboards to save the cost of shipping the extra weight of fans, controller etc as they wont be needed.

I'm not willing to pay stupid/ebay prices which have gone insane. Sensible offers only as this isn't going to make me money, just something to waste some lockdown time on.

Thanks.
344  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Say. If somebody built another small miner... on: January 11, 2021, 05:42:05 PM
Yes yes and another Yes!

I was tempted to get another 606 to replace my 6xnewpacs. But now i think ill wait.
345  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: January 11, 2021, 05:36:36 PM
Thanks for the reply Artemis. So if I was to get a 14.5th version of S9 it may produce a better hashrate at a given power compared to a a less efficient “standard” S9?
346  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Setting up 14 ASIC Block Erupters with CGMiner on: January 08, 2021, 04:36:32 PM
No idea on how to help but need to make you aware that it will take you a very very very long time to earn enough to even get a payout from the pool. Block eruptors are painfully slow compared to modern hardware. If you want aomething as a hobby i can suggest Gekkoscience Newpacs or the R606. Both made with Antminer S9 chips and perform well. They should earn you a little something eventually and considerably quicker than the eruptors.

Anyone notice any efficiency difference between the standard S9 13.5th and the S9j 14.5th?

Also would the S9j hashboards work with the s9 13.5th control board? Seeing as ive already got braiins os on the nand

WolfiFuur

Check out this post within this thread. Its what I used to get mine running on my pi4 4GB.

EDIT:

just out of curiosity, does anyone do regular updates on their Pi's with the sudo apt-get etc etc? Just wondering if there is any benefit or consequence to it.

It will work for a while but you are guaranteed to have problems. I helped vh a little to try and work some of them out but windoze is a pain. I made the switch to a pi and its been running for months without any hiccups.

There should be a test .bat file in there you can use as a base and then change your address and pool etc.
351  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer for Sale! on: December 15, 2020, 02:41:20 PM
To be honest, I didn't.
I haven't used it for quite some time. Smiley

I am just assuming that the 21 may run bitcoind similarly to what can be done with a Raspberry Pi, regardless of the 21.co server. Am I wrong?

No it wont. If there is a way to get into the code to change the pre-programmed settings then it may well do but thats far more time and effort than most people are willing to give for such little in return.
352  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer for Sale! on: December 15, 2020, 12:46:02 PM
How have you managed to get around the fact that 21 Inc no longer have functional servers for this? I have one as a paperweight and it will not connect to anything other than the servers pre-programmed onto the SD card.

Also I paid just $25 for it with all cables and power supplies knowing it is useless for Bitcoin.

[...]

No real difference between the two setups apart from the pi3 to pi4. Try using a known good version of raspbian and not the beta perhaps?

Glad to hear it was that setting. You should just get accepted shares, the occasional rejected/stale and notifications from the pool.
355  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: December 12, 2020, 03:21:04 PM
Have you got the “-verbose” output set? (I think thats the option).

Have you power cycled the unit? How are you powering them?
357  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: December 08, 2020, 03:30:23 PM
My r606 all of a sudden began saying
Found 0 chip(s) while running with CGMiner on a raspberry pi. Has anyone came across this?

What were your settings? How is the R606 powered?
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining from Home on: November 30, 2020, 08:31:35 PM
I guess the main question should have been, Is there such thing as a quiet asic miner that could be used at home ?
4 1660Ti cards give you just about $150 a month profitability, which is far less than any asic miner.

No there are no quiet asic miners that are profitable. Hell, there are no quiet asic miners, they are built for industrial installations, not people at home. Well if you have free electricity then you could get a really old S7-LN (Low Noise) but that really wouldn't net you much/if anything in regards to earnings per month. GPU mining is really your only option. You can have multiple rigs which will all run quietly (I had two 8 card rigs in my bedroom). Only thing you would need to contend with is the heat. You will be essentially running a 1Kw heater (per rig).

There is Gekkoscience gear which is based on S9 chips and is small and discreet and designed to be run at home. But its not a money earner, its really for hobbyists. Take a look at the R606 or Newpac USB Stick.

Has anyone have burnt ports on R606? I have 4 and have 2 burnt PCIE ports, They are running on server ps with breakout board.

What freq and voltage setting were they running at? What gauge wire was the cable made from?

Im running a GS hub with 6xnewpacs at 625freq and an R606 V5 675freq all from a 460w HP PSU with GS breakout board. The Breakout board ive had for ages.

I’m also running an S9 (space heater) from a 1500w HP PSU with GS breakout board. Runs 750w for hours most evenings with no problems either.

I recently watched a vid on youtube and the guys from “bits be trippin” uses an ultrasonic cleaner to clean gpus. Works well apparently. Bot sure what settings or fluid he uses though
