There are a lot of threads that cover this in many different forms. If you poke around you will find everything you need, from using the miners to supplement your heat in the winter, to the checklists you need to go through. Electricity costs, do you have the space, what hardware to buy (needs to be an Asic machine for BTC).
Dig around in the BTC threads use the search function, find a good mining profitability calculator online.

Wanted to specify power is not an issue since that's the deciding factor for 90% of the mining industry it seems. Thanks for the answer though!
The clarification doesn't make a difference, the 5 aforementioned threads and the many before all cover the information you would need. Seeing as this is in the Bitcoin forum I will give you a small amount of info then please run wild through the threads soaking up what you can. 1) Avalon 741- Reliable, good customer service, decent service/response times for defective or damaged units 2) Bitmain s9 - Most efficient, higher in field failure rate, long frustrating expensive process for repairs under warranty( I've heard, no personal experience) 3) Ebit E9- somewhere in the middle, I stopped looking into them early as I knew they weren't for me, but I think they are currently the easiest to buy and get in hand. It's hard to say. Did it maintain 12 TH/S for long. The drop is not crazy, as there will be ups and downs with hashrate. Do you see anything when you check the miner status page? You might need to post your log to see if anyone can find a problem there.
Yes, It mantain 12TH steadily for a long time. Okay well for anyone to help we need a lot more info, like answers to What PSU's you are using? What are your room temps? Can you post your logs from cgminer? Also is it staying at 10.5 TH/S or is it going up and down? luckily 10.5 isn't to bad. |

I'm going to wait and see how the reviews come out from Phil and Haggs, before I go tossing around money. Especially if it's not even done through the website.
Are you associated with the company? as it's weird they have a thread and you aren't in it? You might have more success in any regards if the units were available before the next batch of Avalon 741's or the S9's
I'm still not sold on the units either, with no reliability numbers behind them, other than the price it's not super attractive.

I second the thoughts on buying the Avalon 741's if you are going to invest in an Asic for BTC mining. Not only are they more reliable, but if you do run into an issue, from what I have seen and experienced myself, they have a quick turnaround time, in sorting out issues for hardware. Depending on the issue and your level of understanding, I have seen them send out the spare parts/machine without you sending the old one back. Obviously not always but a few trusted members received that level of service after providing all logs and history of equipment.
So based on customer service and reliability, and the fact that my 2 Avalon 741's consistently achieved 16TH/S I recommend them to anyone.

The "best" setup is what makes sense for you. If your electric costs are low, and you value reliability over power then I would go with the Avalon 741's. You could even use some of the older models and still be making money. If you ,like Jeremy Clarkson want " More Power" then for now you will be wanting to grab an S9 and rolling the dice on what works and for how long, you might be one of the many lucky people who get a fully functioning unit for the long term, or you might slowly watch bits die off here and there. Best bet is to research the current equipment being offered by the main operators at the moment, and pick one after researching them. This forum is full of info, and very similar questions. Anyone have a mining rig they wanna sell to me?

I think the period we are currently in for Bitcoin doesn't lend well to it being used as a day to day currency, unless you choose to dump it immediately, or most of it if you want to hold some as an investment. A few years ago when the price was low the volatility wasn't as bad so you could easily afford to accept BTC payments and cash them in once a week or whatever suited your business needs. Right now however if the price were to fall the same way it has risen, that would bankrupt many small businesses overnight if they held onto the coins.
In the future when BTC is either more adopted in the day to day world and/or reaches a certain level of stability it would make a great day to day currency.

I remember my texts referring to it as the force needed to move the fluid through the system.
As a miner, especially beginning you don't have to worry about it or think about it. Unless you begin to manufacture your own Asics... not going to happen.
Or like Phil is showing you your own GPU rigs for Alt's.
If you have units that have a high static pressure you will just find yourself needing to keep the cooling surfaces clean and obstruction free( should be doing this anyway). This includes maintaining a dust free environment, and probably opening them up to clean them more often.
Overall it's just a design issue, that affects cooling.

I just finished reading over the Whitepaper, and like the concept. It won't be easy to drag some of the oldschool North American auto industry players on board to a new system, but numbers don't lie. What the company has done since 2016 is impressive.
I am looking forward to seeing this project role out in Canada, but will wait patiently. Definitely inspires confidence in making an investment, I will be on the look out for November 27th.
Are they only accepting ETH for the initial ICO? might have to grab some.

I am just a small time home miner, so I installed a whole home surge protector on my main panel, on the first 2 spaces where the main feed comes into the house. The Miners I moved inside are using the furthest breaker spaces available down the line. I've never worried about it before until I put a few thousand dollars of equipment on the grid. So I figured it was worth the 150$ for the protector and the breaker. I also didn't see any hole in your walls and stuff nor a cold or hot aisle arrangement. How are you venting/exhausting and the bringing cold air to the miners?
I did notice those large fans blowing straight up, I assume he has exhaust fans in the ceiling. That would be my guess anyways |

I'm thinking of buying a pallet of 60, but I'm afraid they do not send them to me They are a completely legit company you would have no issues buying a pallet from them, contact their sales team to make sure you can follow through with the payment process. I think right now they only accept USD wire transfer. Not sure because I don't have the problem of trying to buy 60+ miners lol. You can post in the Canaan thread if you have more questions. |

I'm not sure why you would double check in a forum after running the check that anyone here would do, your just lucky some legit members answered you before a 1 post Newbie chimed in. No, because the draw of each Avalon is approximately 5 amps, so 4 will have you tripping the breaker. When I went up to 4 units I upgraded to a 30 amp circuit, and then a PDU.

Hey glad it's working out for you, I'm not to sure how long the code stays on for, I've never run into a problem with them yet, just something I picked up through the forum. There are a lot of different ideas people use to cool the miners, I'm currently setting up something along the lines you did, I'm running my 2 741's towards my furnace I take in the basement, with the fan running 24/7 it will help keep my place warm. Mind you I have a 100 year old house with a stone foundation basement lol; also in Canada. Some people either build a hot/cold side miner room, where the miners pass through the separation wall. You blow intake air into the cold side and an exhaust fan on the warm side. Others do away with the wall and have a heavy duty exhaust fan up high in the room, with an air intake along the floor to, while setting up the miners low to the ground as well. What customs paper are you filling out and sending Minerwarez ? The whole thing is so confusing, why are they making it more confusing when it's such a simple process to import a single device..... In Australia we only fill out a declaration when the product arrives and submit it electronically.. Why are we supposed to send this form to Minerwarez ? The customs officer told me you only fill it out when the product arrives and write down the shipment ref nr for receipt of items. I don't see why we need to send this paper to the exporter it's not their business. And for labeling ? In the requirements it is said for electronic goods you only need to type the product description in clear English, include origin country and HS code and that's it. So in my case I'm just supposed to send an A4 paper with description and originating country ? I told them to write it on the box and haven't got any reply. Seriously how hard could it be to just grab a pen and write 3 words instead I'm asked to send an international priority letter writing it for them. Also auspost said they don't have a label for importing. Just wtf is going on !!?  I can't speak to Australia, but your best bet is to go to your local FedEx or ups and tell them what you are trying to do. Then get all documents that they say you will need such as international shipping label, and a word document stating what is inside. Then as per the information on the product page for the miners email it to them. That should atleast get it shipped and to Australia, not sure how your country handles duty and taxes, but whoever ships it for you should be able to sort it out. Hope that helps. |

Definitely I noticed your error code in the image under pg heading says 3. Here is the link to the Avalon 6 wiki and it has all sorts of info on them https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6The codes are added together so you have error 1 and 2, 2 being to hot. And error 1 which is idle, because of the over temp. You might have been running into the issue of the warm air circulating back to the miners, not sure bit you should be okay now that you have spread them out. Side note please install a c02 monitor in your house don't want to wake up and hear about a dead BTC miner. |

Hi there,
Are you in North America, running off a residential service? If so make sure you are running on a 220v circuit, you can easily tell at the receptacle if you have a voltage tester. If not you can go to the panel, it will be a double pole breaker. You are right that the 2 lines are "hot" and no neutral, the pin would be your ground.
Also you should include what psu you are using, as it will be easier to verify if you are on the wrong track.
If your electrician doesn't know how to wire a 220 volt plug or receptacle you might need a new one
