481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why non-trader beginners prefer to leave their BTC on CEX? on: July 17, 2023, 09:16:39 PM
They do this because they were introduced and guided to create accounts to buy bitcoin on centralized exchanges. They were not taught about risk of leaving coins on centralized exchanges and they think they can safely store their bitcoins in their accounts.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

If they were taught about risk, like above reminder, they will use non custodial wallets.
That could be the very best reason mate why they start trusting CEX despite of its risk. What’s more important for them is just to buy and sell bitcoin and make some profits, not realizing that they could lose all their coins in an instant when this CEX becomes insolvent and is force to stop its operation. Not all have seen this coming, but this is highly possible to happen since CEX can never be reliable forever.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do 90% of Bettors Lose in Sports Betting in the Long-term? on: July 14, 2023, 02:38:09 PM
I think the main thing is that most people whom bet sports aren’t really as knowledgeable about the sports they are betting on as much as they think they are. A lot of people will also just make bets on sports games just to have some “action” on something that day. Those are both two recipes for disaster but people tend to not be able to control themselves.
One of the easiest ways to lose money is obviously to bet on sports that you are not knowledgeable or experienced about because you can barely win with predictions that have no basis at all, sports betting requires one to have enough knowledge and experience to be able to master the art of winning in it, otherwise, it will take away all the money one has if they bet like an expert on games that they know nothing at all about, that's definitely a disaster.

If someone wants to pass their time or have some action, they should simply play on some slots machine where they might also hit some big multiplier while playing and it's both fun and thrilling while I don't see much thrill in betting on a game that you don't know at all only to see yourself lose, or maybe win if you are too lucky.

That is the difference between pure luck based games and sports betting where not just luck is the factor that you will need, a proper assessment will also do the trick especially if you're good in reading the datum that allows you to predict with a much higher percentage. So in sports betting, you need both factors to have a higher chance of winning because you cannot just rely on pure luck alone just like slot machines and other games in the casino that doesn't require you to assess anything.
483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 14, 2023, 11:46:46 AM
^^ It's a different story though if you are going to ask Bud Crawford. But they both admit that they talk on the phone for at least 30 minutes just to be sure that they are both on the same page as far as fighting each other.

So that is good enough to know that at least they go old school, I mean they are the one who makes the fight and didn't go the route on "talk to my manager". And with that, everything is set now. We will finally see a unification fight at 147 lbs and this is going to be huge.

Let's just hope that all of that were true and that Spence is indeed genuine about what he is saying because it will not be the first time either if he will act like a fool again and make another circus in the following weeks to make the fight in vain. Anyway, there's two more weeks to go and it seems that this fight is already unstoppable because judging from the All Access, both boxers are already looking forward to dance inside the ring.
484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: July 13, 2023, 09:37:05 PM
Right, Tank vs Garcia is very different though, I mean the hype is really huge and PPV reaches more than 1 million. And I remember that we have discussed speculations about how big this fight it in terms of PPV and if I remember it correctly, we did somewhat agree that the numbers could be around 300,000-500,000 buys. But we will see.

It's getting closer, I can sense on some boxing forums that the hype is building already.

I also read some comments of former opponents of this two boxers, like Porter and they have given their own opinions about this fight.

The promoters of this fight made the PPV more expensive so it will have a hard time matching Ryan vs. Tank's numbers. Today's generation of fighters need to have a strong social media presence if they want to attract the biggest audience. Earlier this month, an influencer boxing event broke records on Twitch by getting over 3.4 million live viewers and over 100 million have watched the replay. Crawford and Spence aren't at that level of popularity but I think the years of anticipation and hype will lead to a big viewership.

I will tend to agree about the social media presence, Ryan has boasted a combine more than 1 million subscribers if I'm not mistaken. But not sure about the numbers of Crawford or Spence themselves. This two boxer are way over 30 years old, so there is a big catch that they don't deal much often on social media or they just want to be private and just sharing few contents about this fight.

But still the anticipation has been building and maybe it will help them have a good PPV number regardless if the price is lower than Ryan vs Tank.

For sure though, there are lot of fans that are going to share this fight for free in Facebook and other platforms., just saying.

I think they have generated enough hype when they were rumored to fight, but it didn't happen. Finally, it will happen, and I believe it's the right time because they were inspired by the PPV numbers of the Garcia vs Davis fight. I'm sure the promoters of this fight believe they will be able to surpass that significant number of PPV. Personally, I'm confident it will happen.

A unification fight between two undefeated fighters. I also agree that they can surpass that hypes.

With how they excite the fans with those all rumors before, and now they finally convert these rumors into a schedule fight
I'm glad to see that there are no excuses now. (hopefully none to come) and the fight will proceed,

the numbers of PPV and the possible numbers of sponsorships will bring a huge amount of money for these two champs,
the amount of money surely moves them both to sign the deal.

There is none of a single doubt about the hype between these two can create and that they can surpass the blockbuster hit that Davis and Garcia did in the previous months. I mean, it is given already knowing how Al Haymon kept the right to organize it even if there is already other organizers that wanted to give them those guaranteed money, he know that the revenue in this fight will be much bigger than what is anticipated that is why he didn't gave up those rights because he knew probably at that time that sooner or later, the path of Crawford and Spence will soon cross.
485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight (july15,2023 on: July 13, 2023, 08:48:28 PM
Who wanted to hear any update on this fight?

Bad new first then good news?

Bad news is that this fight is not going to happen anymore at the original date of July 15th.

Quote
BoxingScene.com has learned that Donaire-Santiago will no longer take place this Saturday at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas as originally scheduled. The vacant WBC bantamweight title fight will instead land on the undercard of the Errol Spence-Terence Crawford Showtime Pay-Per-View event July 29 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

https://www.boxingscene.com/donaire-santiago-pull-from-saturdays-show-land-on-spence-crawford-undercard--176086

The good news is that it will land on the Crawford vs Spence fight July 29th. I think it's a good move by Showtime, I mean if we go on the Crawford vs Spence thread fight, when the undercard was released, I will say that most of us are disappointed because there is no name in the undercard.

So definitely it will bolster the PPV number of Crawford vs Spence and then Donaire vs Santiago will have a broader audience, win-win situation.

Well, that is indeed a good move by the organizers to generate a much bigger revenue to the Spence-Crawford fight and for Donaire-Santiago fight as well.

But the problem is, they should have finalized this specific for about a couple of weeks earlier so that some people can adjust to the new schedule because it will be a big disappointment for the people who reserved that day just to watch the fight live at the Cosmopolitan, and in the end, the reserved slot will be wasted because it was moved a little bit late where they can no longer change their off.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How real? That football players required to bribe before they are allowed to play on: July 13, 2023, 08:28:21 PM
Hey guys, reading little story on Kylian Mbappe who on Thursday visited Cameroon on a charity with the deaf and other familiarization visit to his father's home town. He spoke with Joseph Dion Ngute, the Cameroon's Prime Minister, he was honoured visiting and I believe this is just like the humanitarian work some influential people do

But one striking revelation was that he would have been a cameroonian player if they weren't asking his father to pay them money before allowing him to play while he still trying to fix his career and French allowed him without payment.

Quote
"At first, I wanted my son to play for Cameroon, but someone at the Cameroonian Football Federation charged me money that I didn't have to make him play," he explained. " The French charged nothing."

I have also heard of some local stories about how some coaches require money from new footballers before they allow them on trier both in their clubs and national teams. Is this happening globally for new players who are still seeking to find a spot in clubs?

Do you think Cameroun miss Mbappe or it is Mbappe that missed Cameroun ?

https://theafricanhistory.com/2975#:~:text=My%20father

This is somewhat normal especially in local clubs or even in the most prestigious clubs anywhere in this world, money always moves everything and if you're that someone who wanted to play in a specific team and then the team doesn't see any capabilities within you, there is a chance that they will ask for money for you to play in their club. But after that, it is not guaranteed that you will have those certain minutes in every game because the fact is still the same, they don't trust you with the time.

I mean, not all clubs do this but I'm certain enough that there are some instances like these that are hidden behind the curtains.

Now for the question, obviously, Cameroon missed that chance to hire Mbappe to their team.
487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 13, 2023, 06:42:39 PM
Ja Morant's best friend Davonte Pack has been arrested.
An 18-year-old was assaulted at Ja Morant's house.
There has been no charge yet against Ja Morant.
Things haven't been going well for Ja Morant lately.

Even though it's not directly him, but rather his friends, it can still reflect poorly on him. He really needs to distance himself from that circle he's currently involved with because his future is at risk. At such a young age, he has the potential to earn much more than he currently does. He just needs to ensure that he sets a good example for others and makes positive choices for himself.

Exactly. He need to find other people to surround him because if that same circle will be with him in the next couple of years, he will not improve as a human being and his status of being an active NBA player will put to risks because his name will always be involved whenever he or his friends did commit something illegal. It will be very unfortunate if his future will be gone just because of his childish act, he need to pull himself together if he still wanted to play in the league for at least a decade.

I mean at a certain point I'm wondering where his parents are at, at this point.  Dude obviously has a lot of growing up to do and needs a positive role model to be around 24/7.  Not gonna lie its gonna be tough for him since that is all he seems to know.  He is risking it all but he wouldn't be the first nor last person to do that.  Sad.

Unfortunately, that is the reality especially if you grew in a neighborhood where there is a huge chance that you will be influenced about what they are doing. For Ja Morant, it's not that he grew poor but while growing up, he made a choice to be relevant in his generation even if that means that he will be doing some stuffs that is not really likeable when he grows older and indeed, that happens right now to him. Well, he still have some chance but those chances are not unlimited so he better think twice.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: July 12, 2023, 10:01:50 PM
I was wondering how this could happen but I now understand after reading Ngannou's flexible contract with PFL. This is probably the biggest payday in his career so good job to his manager or promoter for making it happen.

I can see it's the similar 10-point system but there's no mention of the number of rounds. I think Tyson will fight smart and play the long game since Francis doesn't have enough tank.

There is no problem at all if he will fight inside the boxing industry because his camp and UFC (Dana White) has failed to come into a deal to renew his contract, so now, he got his own freedom without disrespecting anyone or any organization. This will be the best for him as well because Francis Ngannou is not getting that much from UFC despite being a champion during his years in the industry and despite being on the headlines after defeating almost everybody that crosses with him.

As of now, there are no detailed information regarding about this bout because I've read that Tyson Fury might put his belt on the line or maybe it will be a pure exhibition fight.

Argentina still has to qualify despite being the defending champions?
Unfortunately, yes. Argentina will have to qualify again and go through with the traditional process just like every other team despite being the defending champions and the only exception are the hosting countries namely, United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
In the past two decades or more, every defending champions have the right to be qualified automatically but that rule changed way back 2006 before the FIFA 2026 commenced.
490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Crypto may go wrong for some people on: July 11, 2023, 09:59:10 PM
Simply because they don’t understand the real purpose and essence of crypto in our future. Most especially for bitcoin as it’s the most prominent crypto in the market. And while others are focused on investing and make the best for profiting, some have been easily discouraged with first losses and so they quit from crypto investing and resort into gambling thinking that it will offer them bigger opportunities to earn and make profits. Well, one cannot learn if they won’t experience losses in gambling as losses are more inevitable in gambling than when investing.
491  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: July 11, 2023, 09:31:58 PM
For me, it’s always a personal’s choice as it does not mean that you won’t be successful in managing your business just because you don’t have an MBA degree, just like an MBA will not even guarantee your future’s success. So your success will never depend actually on your masteral degree, but will always matter on how experienced and skillful you are in running a business, and on dealing the imperfections of your business that you still manage to grow it instead and not leaving it unproductive or totally doomed. Attitude actually matters more than your own personal knowledge.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 11, 2023, 08:59:14 PM
The fact is no one gets to succeed if you are always procrastinating important things or events in your life. That will only make your life more doomed and insignificant. But everything will change if you will start taking risk and taking the opportunity that is right in front of you. Bitcoin is the perfect example. Everyone is making their best to own and be in profits with bitcoin, so don’t let yourself miss another opportunity again and end up regretting.
493  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade with caution on: July 11, 2023, 08:40:22 PM
That 3rd statement is true and has always been the case for the majority. Just as everyone is aware that they're on the profit, they're passing it on. It's because that they're thinking that the profit might be higher than what's being seen at the moment. Thus, greed is being detected on the majority while it's possible to sell at just keep the profit and win by that time, they're letting it pass because of the thought that the profit might be higher if they wait a little bit longer. Yes, that's possible but for how long? Years? or just a few days or just a few hours? Do not forget to satisfy yourself and take that profit.
Greed is nothing but will only delay our profit making, or the reason that we’ll not be profitable anymore. That’s why when you invest or trade, learn to control your greed because that will only ruin your focus on the right timing when to sell and make profits. In the end, greed will only cause you to suffer because once you’re in a state of being greedy, you are losing the opportunity to progress but instead, you are all doomed for losses.
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I start my journey on bitcoin talk forum i.e. in crypto world. on: July 10, 2023, 09:59:09 PM
Hello. How are you all?  I am new to this forum.  I came to know about bitcoin forum from a friend of mine.  But I don't know much about forums.  What should I do in this situation?  I know about Bounty but I am not interested in Bounty.  How do I start working?  What should I do? I want your help to start my journey-
Thanks-
Feel free to explore the forum first and study every topic that has gained your personal interest. I believe if you do that, you will be more motivated to learn until you realize that staying in the forum is a lot more fun and exciting while learning a lot about crypto and Bitcoin. And if you have spare money to invest later on, then take some risk too aside from taking part in signature campaigns that are paying a good amount. My only advice is just enjoy the forum, and never be pressured on when to make profits. You will have more opportunities to earn profits later on after you've gained personal knowledge and skills in the forum.
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin or other assets? on: July 10, 2023, 09:36:49 PM
Luxury watches at the top end of the market can be considered as an alternative form of investment. While I don't possess extensive knowledge about watches, my understanding from available information suggests that reselling them can yield a substantial profit. The return on investment for luxury watches tends to be quite satisfactory. Prominent examples of such watches include Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Audemars Piguet, some of which have a waitlist spanning two years. Most of these watches tend to appreciate in value.

However, the worth attributed to an item is typically influenced by its demand and supply. While I believe that owning one or two high-end watches, provided they are well-maintained, may outperform stocks, gold, and real estate, it's worth noting that their appeal may diminish over time. This is because future generations are increasingly gravitating towards other interests, such as bitcoin and other emerging trends. If given the choice, would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin, digital assets, gold, stocks, or real estate?
Investing in luxury watch is never a wrong move since you will still profit from it when you decide to sell, but that is nothing when you chose to invest in Bitcoin. The profits are obviously more promising even when you only invest at a minimal amount. Just know what you are investing and understand how to manage the risk, that way investing in Bitcoin will be more valuable compared to investing in luxury watch.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Positive thoughts and attitude towards Bitcoin. on: July 10, 2023, 09:17:08 PM
From the time I studied in class eight, I used to take money from my father, uncle, elder brothers on the occasion of religious festivals. After few years I kept saving money and with the saved money I started a quail and pigeon farm. After two years of service I got a fairly good benefit from them. One day I got to know about Bitcoin by meeting an elder brother while visiting a place. After learning about Bitcoin, my curiosity increased and gradually I tried to learn more about Bitcoin and became attracted to Bitcoin. A few months ago when the bitcoin market was 17 thousand USD I invested 80% of the dividend in the bitcoin market and I still hold it. When I do any work, I trust the right thinking and decision of my own morale towards that work. I think Bitcoin will be more valuable in the next few years and maybe it will reverse but I have confidence I hold it. When investing in something there is always risk involved. I think risk is the possibility of gaining or losing something valuable.
Congrats OP on your new investment. Bitcoin will never allow you to incur losses as long as you also do your investment the right way. Know that despite Bitcoin is a risky investment, it will give you the opportunities to succeed and give you substantial profits as long as you invest and hold it at a long duration. That's why patience and perseverance are a must.
497  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why Not Just Buy BTC? on: July 10, 2023, 08:42:53 PM
I've seen over one dozen websites believing that BTC will skyrocket in the upcoming years.
The platform I use is Coinbase.
I'm thinking of just buying BTC-USD and just leaving it be.
Any thoughts on this strategy?

Yes, it is true. It is very easy to buy. But holding it until you get to the desired price to take profit is what makes it difficult. Not all people have the mental capacity to handle drawdowns and see their funds melt down to negative. They become afraid and instead of holding or buying more, they sell it. Because when you are euphoric it is very easy to buy, when you are fearful, it is very easy to sell your position.  They don't have realistic timelines and expectations. They don't have a plan for when to average down on their position.

Just buying btc and holding it is not a strategy. A strategy consists of managing risk, psychology, and your position. Getting in the move is the easiest.
I have to agree with you mate. Buying btc is so easy that it can be done with anyone who’s willing to spend for it, but battling its price volatility that will cause its price to drop to its lowest and preventing yourself not to panic is the most difficult thing. It takes a more disciplined and determined mind to process that. However, if you are investing with adequate knowledge and experience, that won’t be a problem. Just never trust an exchange for long term hodling. Know where to store your coins so you can assure its safety and security from scammers and hackers around.

Regarding about the stadium that will be used in the final game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, here's the final detail.

Quote
The final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey is the intended stadium and host city for the final match of the 2026 FIFA men’s soccer World Cup in North America.
https://www.2026worldcupnorthamerica.com/fifa-football-final-world-cup-soccer-2026/#:~:text=The%20final%20of%20the%202026,World%20Cup%20in%20North%20America.

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas has been on the list but because of the said reason above, FIFA has decided that it will be more compelling to the people around the world if they will hold it in the home of New York Jets and New York Giants. Also, MetLife has been chosen to host the final game because it can cater more audience.

In terms of capacity, there is not much difference between the AT&T stadium and the MetLife Stadium. IMO, the fact that weather at that time in Texas can be extremely hostile probably turned the tables for the MetLife stadium. And I haven't heard anything about the capacity in these stadiums getting increased. But there is plenty of time, as the next world cup is three years away. The Lusail stadium, which hosted the final between Argentina and France in the FIFA World Cup in 2022 also had a similar capacity (88,966).

In fact:
Quote
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority recently approved a contract worth roughly $16 million to expand MetLife Stadium to meet FIFA’s requirements for hosting the soccer games. Construction is set to begin in December and run through May 2025.
https://www.thirteen.org/programs/nj-spotlight-news/vo-world-cup-1687813014/

I guess an extension factor to increase the capacity of this stadium is also included on the stated amount of expansion aside from making it a soccer format to match the FIFA requirements.

Also, I don't think that an argument is needed for this because the FIFA has already said that MetLife will the one that will be used in the final game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and not the AT&T Stadium. We can also say that there have been discussions held at first before they decided what stadium will be used because it's not that easy to choose what stadium is eligible.

-snip-

It's funny. This site calls it "a perfect 3-team trade", but I'd say it's a perfect deal only for the Nets and the Heat but not for the Blazers. The way I see it, getting a few future first-round picks, as well as an aging Lowry and a weird guy like Simmons, would be a dumb decision by the Blazers' management. In that case, the Blazers would look like the Rockets, who have been trying to rebuild their team for a few seasons now.
My thoughts are the same as yours, but to say that 3 perfect team trades are actually also appropriate because they made quite good deals and of course other teams cannot imitate them.
But here I'm actually assuming that actually the Heat are the ones who benefit the most to be able to have good preparations for next season.
Blazers have been trying to get better but let's see what they can do for next season although I doubt there will be anything surprising that the Blazers can achieve.

Well, let's see if the Portland will get that kind of bait just because of a couple of first round picks are laid towards them. I know that they wanted to grant Dame's wishes but this is just too far and I don't really think that they will just agree on it especially with Simmons on the trade, they aren't that dumb to accept a player that doesn't know what team play is and he was just so different nowadays compared to the time when they were great in the Sixers.

There is still a lot of confusion regarding the venue for the final match of 2026 FIFA World Cup. The two possible venues are MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and AT&T Stadium in Texas. Both these stadiums are being used by franchises from the National Football League (NFL), and need extensive modifications before they can be used for association football. MetLife Stadium has a larger capacity (82,500 compared to 80,000 for AT&T). As per initial reports, FIFA is leaning towards the stadium in Texas, but they are concerned with extreme temperatures that this region is experiencing recently.
