Canada: Tea Partier Shout “Heil Hitler” During Pro-Israel Rally In Calgary…(July 31 2014)

Obama should do something, even if this in Canada...

what can obama do? it's in canada, and even if it were in the U.S., they'd be protected under the first amendment.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is Decentralized power! Facebook down while bitcoin up strong! on: August 01, 2014, 07:12:44 PM
wait why are you comparing a cryptocurrency to a social media corporation? also, bitcoin is not quite decentralized.. the mining pools are the ones that control things.
543  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Zionist shills on reddit on: August 01, 2014, 07:06:59 PM
man this whole israeli-palestine issue is confusing to me. i don't think i can take any sides, because both sides appear to be assholes but victims at the same time.. only israel has more money to get influence from the outside world. maybe israel is a little bit more culpable?
544  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CNN national poll: Rand Paul 13%, Bush 13%, Ryan 12%, Huckabee 10%, Christie 9% on: August 01, 2014, 06:56:36 PM
realistically, whoever wins ohio and florida, the two swing states with the most electoral votes, is going to end up winning the race.
If Rand is the GOP nominee there'll be many more swing states than just the two of those. It will be an election unlike any we've ever seen in modern times. The party lines will be completely up in the air and there might even be a sideshow third party independent like a Donald Trump in there to try and peel support away from Rand the republican. Anything can happen which is why he's hiring all the right people and going to bat on the right issues to have a mass populist rising behind him.

there are more than 2 swing states obviously, but whoever wins ohio and florida is going to be president. that's close to 50 swing electoral votes there.

maybe rand should talk up legalized marijuana.. that's another 9 electoral votes from colorado potentially. it definitely falls in line with his liberterian approach.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I got my mother to buy 15 bitcoins over the past year. Have you done similar? on: August 01, 2014, 06:31:05 PM
I got my own mother to purchase 15 BTC over the past year. She will be sitting pretty in 5 years Smiley

(and don't worry, I secured the bitcoin for her)

Have you gotten someone you know or love to buy bitcoin because you want them to be doing well in the future?

Post your success stories here.

does your mom understand how it works, or is she just listening to your advice (or seeing other people make money off bitcoin)?
546  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The members of this forum have an opportunity to change the world on: August 01, 2014, 06:29:27 PM
pledging to humanitarian efforts doesn't really fix anything though. it's more like a bandage. we need capital to take down our system of politics, where you cheat and get paid for it.
547  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: August 01, 2014, 06:28:27 PM
just watched the honourable woman, and i don't like it. it has this fake veneer that doesn't feel real to me.

I still watch Big Brother (US version).   I have also watched the UK version, but I think the US version is better because there is more strategy and game play.   It is the best reality show IMO

man, you must be a king of tv.. you watch even more shows than i do.

548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hamas and The Tea Party on: August 01, 2014, 06:25:38 PM
the two are politically misaligned though. the tea party is full of overzealous christians who love israel (it's in the bible after all), while hamas is obviously anti-israel

saw maggie gyllenhaal on the daily show last night.. i'm gonna give her show a try (the honourable woman). not exactly sure what it's about, but it's got something to do with the israeli-palestine conflict.

Girls are a scarce product in China, pretty girls like this one, maybe as scarce as diamonds.

I agree she could be way better rewarded outside the sports, but its her choice

she is from kazakhstan, not china.
551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is like Android mid 2009 / Linux end 1998 on: August 01, 2014, 03:29:44 AM
why are you comparing the adoption rate of a cryptocurrency with operating systems though?
552  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wikipedia cashed out their BTC donations and price sunk on: August 01, 2014, 02:35:02 AM
didn't they announce it just today? i doubt them accepting makes it that big of an impact.

554  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Zionist shills on reddit on: August 01, 2014, 02:23:22 AM
Who else  noticed the sudden influx of pro-israeli/zionist sentiment on reddit?

I've never been a large redditor but i know the site is not as liberal as it appears to be. There is still censorship and other stuff on the site.

that's because each subreddit has its own mods.. so sure you're going to find some bad apples here and there. overall though, reddit is a pretty good source for news and entertainment.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We already passed the tipping point of BTC on: August 01, 2014, 02:22:13 AM
Won't the tipping point be when we quit caring so much about the price. How many average US citizens are constantly checking to see how valuable the dollar is compared to other currencies? That's basically where bitcoin is right now. Getting past that will be the tipping point. We will think of value in terms of BTC instead of dollars. A pack of gum costs so much btc while gas is at a different level. That's the ultimate goal.

Until we move to a point where BTC is commonly accepted by everyone the value doesn't matter as much. Right now the value counts on two levels, for those who are trying to make money off buying BTC and hoping the value skyrockets (basically everyone), and the other level, it's a good indication of how well BTC is catching on. The rise in price seems strongly correlated with the amount of people learning about BTC. In other words, the price is the level of how quickly people are catching on.

I think a better word for these "tipping points" are milestones. They're big achievements but it's certainly not all downhill and easy from here like if they were a tipping point.

there will never be a point where no one cares about the price. people care about their own wealth more than bitcon's adoption rate.. that's just the way shit works. i'm not saying it's wrong either.
556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fox News viewers are uninformed. NPR listeners are not. on: July 31, 2014, 08:46:57 PM
FYI, i watch both the colbert report and the daily show.. and i've also been watching last week tonight with john oliver. i think it's actually better than the daily show, and almost as funny as the colbert report.. and overall, i find it to be more substantive in bringing the topics to the audience.
I'm convinced the daily show and colbert are nothing but propaganda machines, as well as most any other TV media productions.

Stewart and Colbert are comedians and not news anchors. Viewers watching the shows know these guys are jokers.

Fox News, on the other hand, advertises themselves as "fair and balance".

See the difference?

they are comedians, but they do have a huge impact on society. i find it hilarious that he thinks colbert and stewart are propaganda machines, when they inform the public more than any other news program. i have a feeling that they are "propaganda machines" to him because they are definitely liberal, and he is the opposite.

558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is like cash under the mattress on: July 31, 2014, 08:43:51 PM
and how would an ID system work? the best option we have now for easy security is an ETF. otherwise, if you don't know how to manage your coins, you shouldn't be having them in the first place. it would be nice if everybody knew how to protect their coins, but that's just not the case.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Explain Bitcoin To Your Grandparents on: July 31, 2014, 08:40:04 PM
i don't even bother explaining bitcoin to my mom.. she just can't understand what it is and how it works.
560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin slowly losing its popularity? on: July 31, 2014, 08:36:50 PM
loose what ? https://bitcoinaverage.com/charts#EUR-averages-all
It raise ... every MONTHS now.

that graph looks wrong to me, or at least the euro has weakened sigfnicantly this past year. how could bitcoin have been 425 euros in november last year? was 1 euro worth 3 times what the dollar was?
