701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - Nov 15 on: September 08, 2023, 04:04:47 PM
I would like to see Jerwin becoming champion again but I actually voted for Takuma by decision. Jerwin is going to get schooled if he is not bringing something new to his technique.

He faced two losses against the same opponent, Fernando Daniel Martinez. Given that Takumi's upcoming opponent might have a different fighting style, there might not be a pressing need for him to change his own style. Both camps will undoubtedly study their opponent and develop a strategy they believe will work best.

Honestly, I haven't observed anything particularly exceptional from Takumi, and despite Jerwin facing some challenges lately, I still believe he has what it takes to be victorious in this match.

It's quite too late for Jerwin Ancajas to learn a new technique just to increase his chances against Takuma Inoue and to the other guys in this weight class, as they say, you cannot teach the olds dogs to learn some new tricks. I say that Jerwin will stick to what he knows and will just study Takuma even further to increase his chances rather than perfecting a new technique that doesn't even guarantee anything, instead, it will put him to a risk because he's not even accustomed to it.

I guess not new technique, but some fighting style, as we have seen him falling in love with his one punch knockout that they change the fight on his favor. But Takuma is more of a boxer, not a brawler type so it will be a contrasting clash of styles between the two.

And with that, if Jerwin, will rely on his power, it might take him the full twelve rounds just to land that one solid punch. So at least adjust his style with the type of fight that Takuma will offer to him.

I agree and furthermore, it's kind of risky for him too if he will use the same style which he is known for when he was still in the lower weight class as I think that it's one of the few reasons why he lost twice against Martinez because he did let himself to be an open book to the opposing camp.

And in this case, we can assume already that Takuma is also working to counter those style because even if that might be predictable already but it's still deadly if he will get himself hit by it. And what Ancajas needed to do right now is to be versatile enough so that he won't be predicted that easily specially in this case where he has an advantage.

Yes, I guess those two losses against Martinez is already a wake up call for Ancajas to somewhat not just rely on his power but be versatile and learn to adjust to the strengths and weakness of his opponents.

If his opponents shows strength let's say in counter and in defense, then Ancajas shouldn't be the aggressive. If he found a loophole and weaknesses to his opponents then he should take advantage of it and then get the win. So for sure fans of Ancajas are very excited about this fight because they might think that he has a good chance to win against the brother of Naoya even if the fight is in Japan.

Sad to see the United States get eliminated before even reaching the Final in the FIBA World Championships. While I don’t think these were the best players we could have sent, it seems like USA’s domination of basketball is losing its grip. They’d better send our best to win the gold at the next summer Olympic Games.

Not the strongest but I think the decent roster to fight for gold medal but they come up short and left behind by 2 points. This is huge upset to them since fans really believe that they are the one will reach up to the finals easily but the germans cut those expectation and show up some great dedication to beat up the giants then take home the win for their country. Guess this is better luck next time for team USA and for sure next world cup they might think about sending more stronger roster and also veterans that can help their world cup run.

They've been losing grip though not just in this FIBA but years ago, just look at who is the last MVP in the last couple of years, it's all European or at least not-American, Giannis, Jokic and then Joel Embid.

And then they sent just a decent player, there are no superstars in the line up except just players of pure hype. And so I'm not surprised if team that have been playing for so many years beat the US and Canadians for that matter.
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A History of Sports Betting on: September 08, 2023, 03:26:46 PM
Betting possibly started anywhere in the world not just by the Romans. It feels like a natural human nature for people to test their predicting skills. Two kids in some settlement somewhere may have bet to outrun each other on their way to the river or something like that or people on local community games. Those other people were not just as powerful as the people who claim to have recorded it first, again "a rich man's account is what is taken over the poor man's own."

Yeah, it's more on just wanted to see how everything can be predicted and then with the involvement of money in any sports, it become so big. Nevertheless, it's good to see the history though on how it involved to the current state of sports betting.

Now it's totally different, there are the basic Money Line bet, and then the spread and others like parlays and odds become computed. But obviously, the odds still favor sports bookies, but that's how it is though. They are in the business of making money and so they will have to do everything to have the advantage.

The Lakers have signed forward Christian Wood to a 2 year deal. Christian had a decent year last year averaging 16 & 7. I’m not sure how he’ll fit into the lineup but maybe he’s a little extra insurance in case something happens to Anthony Davis. Wood did dominate the Lakers in the Christmas game last year…

Good, I thought that he will be in the Warriors, but I guess Lakers is not that bad for Wood to be a destination team. Yeah, most likely it he will be some insurance for Davis, if ever AD got injured or something, at least there will be someone to cover the Center/PF department for the Lakers unlike last year.

Decent stat but he was not a impact to the Mavericks last year and I think he struggled with the rotation and chemistry with the players and it's good though that he has been released and then pick up by Lakers for a 2 year deal.

Maybe he is a slight downgrade from Davis (just a bit though). I mean, both can dominate the paint and can shoot from outside, so it looks like he can fit into the chemistry needed for the Lakers team to work smoothly. Davis' minutes need to be managed, as they cannot afford to miss him in the playoffs. So, having Christian Wood, who is known for his offensive skills, I think he'll shine with the Lakers. The advantage the Lakers have is their big lineup, so the defensive and rebounding liabilities for Wood may not be as challenging.

Christian Wood is not on the same level as Anthony Davis but at a minimum contract of just over $2 million next season, that's already a steal. His stats deserved a double-digit contract so this is another big achievement in terms of the Lakers' negotiating strategy. Wood is a good shooter outside and inside so he is definitely another offensive player to not take for granted. He is also in mid 20s which means he can still be developed, especially his defense.

The Lakers are really doing well this off-season with very good additions. And with Bron still playing at an elite level, this team will definitely give the top favorite teams a run for their money.

Yes, they are not in the same pay grade, and obviously he will be used as a back up for AD in case something happen to him. And so it was interesting to see him with the Lakers though, he didn't have a good playing time with the Dallas and really might not be a good fit for them.

But I do agree, they retain some of their core, and then trade or shift others and then give way to Wood to fill the gap for them. So it will be a different Lakers and hopefully Lebron can still perform at high level at his age.

With regards to the potential Canelo vs. Bud next year, it sounds crazy but really doable if Canelo approves it. If I were Canelo, I would take it since it is the biggest fight in boxing right now. He will be bashed a lot though if he wins and it could be worse if he loses to someone who moves up two divisions. I like Bud to win but I believe Canelo will be too much and destroy him.

No doubt, it would be the best fight ever since the guy will not hesitate to move just for the sake of beating Canelo and it will be the best opportunity for him as well because he won't need to sacrifice much since he is comfortable in their weight division, it would be best for him to accept such fight in order to fully raise their flag and we will seeing another huge fight next year once again.

Yes, and it will be a big challenge on the part of Crawford though, again as we said, he will be going up in 3 weight classes and facing one of the best Super middle weight, not just in this era.
But I like the what BoMac has said, he will also take this as an opportunity, on how he will outsmart Canelo's trainer which is Eddy Reynoso.
So this is not like just a fight for this boxers, but for their trainer as well. BoMac outsmart Derrick James when Crawford beat Spence.
And BoMac could be running for a obvious Trainer of the Year with that victory.

It hasn't been done before, so for now we can say that he has 0% to win against a Canelo Alvarez at 168 lbs, his prime weight. Heck even the 154 lbs in Charlo, who talks that he can beat Canelo, might be in a big surprised to see him in the ring. He is taller, but Canelo is well built and we haven't seen anyone crack that chin. So the odds are stack up against Crawford.

As for the trainer of the year, yes, back to back wins, first Crawford and then last weekend Eubank Jr over Liam Smith. Although there were news reports that BoMac was stop at the airport because the security find some guns on his luggage.
706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Frank Martin - tentative date 11/16 or 12/9 on: September 07, 2023, 10:19:47 AM
It might a good fight in paper, but I'm seeing Stevenson winning in the hands of the judges.

Same thought here mate, Shakur is the next big name in boxing if handled properly. With this announcement, his supposed fight with Loma is off by now but the good thing with Frank Martin is that the latter has no loss on his record, this might add curiosity on some so that they will watch this fight but the truth is, this is a fight where Shakur will win no matter what as he can't afford to have a backslide on his glamorous career.

I agree, he is about to hit the prime years, and we all know that high caliber athletes when they are in their prime are hard to beat. And as much as Frank Martin is good, surrounding himself with good promoter like Spence and trainer in James, it's going to be hard for him to stop Shakur and it might be a bad timing for him to face Shakur at this point.

The thing with Martin is that he lack the experience, seen his highlights but there are no known boxers in his resume. While Shakur since before the lower weight has face a lot of great boxers and he all beat them technically, and some with body shots.

It's absolutely fine to spend your coins if you are interested in buying stuff with it because that way it will help to spread the adoption at mass level apart from just holding.I know we see it as investment asset but we should not eliminate the base cause of its creation which was to make transaction. You can hold and spend at the same time if you wish to do so.

Yes exactly spending bitcoin for buying other goods is a better way to spread the news and information about bitcoin but everyone does not know about bitcoin and in some counties there is a ban on bitcoin so in those areas bitcoin cannot be used for payment method.

Using bitcoin as both a payment method as well as an investment method are beneficial but investment is under your control like when you want to sell and when you want to buy is your decision but in a case of payment so the seller will choose whether he accepted your bitcoin or is not familiar with it.

That's how it was designed in the beginning, as a payment scheme, like to be used in online to buy things. Some people might have known bitcoin for years already, but are afraid to buy or hold because of the negative connotations that some media has portrayed it. And about buying though, one drawback that online sellers might see is how volatile it is and the price.

And that's why majority now shifts their focus in the last 5 years or so in bitcoin becoming as a store of value, just like in the pandemic where it was a hedge against their wealth. And then some companies as well, putting their balance sheet into bitcoin.
708  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 06, 2023, 02:21:43 PM
The first fight against Donaire, it was the last time that we have seen Inoue almost lost the fight. It was a hard fought give and take and he absorbs all what Donaire can bring to the point that he suffered a broken orbital bone and yet he pushes for the fight and win it.

But there are fans or even boxers who thought that Inoue lost that fight. If I'm not mistaken, Roy Jones Jr was one of them. I remember as well though, that Jone is a big fan of Donaire so he might be biased on that.

Inoue, though, has a solid chin, as he was able to withstand the hard punches he received from Donaire. Maybe Inoue was overwhelmed at that time, considering Donaire is a popular boxer and he respected his power. However, Inoue made the right adjustment, using his jab effectively to dictate the fight. In the later rounds, when Donaire got tired, Inoue hit him with his signature punch that made Donaire kneel down. It was an intense fight, but the second half was dominated by Inoue, which I think he deserved to win and become a champion in that fight.

And that fight might lead Inoue to believed that he can win every fight. Sort of it motivates him, because of you look at it, if he can take the best punch of Donaire in 118 lbs and not get knockout, then for sure his next opponents can't knock him out.

And true to this, after this fight, all of his wins is via knockout as no one can stood against his power punches, not even Donaire in their rematch. So Tapales will really need everything here to be able to pull an upset otherwise it will be Inoue again with his second weight class unification.

710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 06, 2023, 01:05:37 PM
As for me I dislike when gamblers complain of their losses, meanwhile you hear them complain when they are getting winnings.

What about you, what do you dislike ?

Same here, I dislike gamblers who are ok if they are winnings but shout scam and cheaters if the losses.  We all know that gambling activity result is random and no one is certain whether they will come out with the winnings or losses.

This is what I heard when I'm playing roulette, whether online or offline. In online, you will read in chats that they are screaming it's all a scam, on the contrary, maybe the next roll of the ball, they are going to win some money.

and most of all, I hate gamblers that streams and influence people into believing that gambling is the easiest way to make money just to get people to be their referrals.  This kind of influence streaming is somehow misleading people that can result to severe losses and emotional damage since they had been mislead by this kind of gambling influencers.

I think we can call them delusional though, we all know that gambling is not the way to make money. And even if you win some, you will eventually lose in the long end. And so those who really believed and those influencing others to gamble? I really don't know what to call them but perhaps they want to bring others to also become addict just like them.
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Summarizing issues in the bitcoin community and how to address them. on: September 06, 2023, 12:48:43 PM
The current network congestion caused by the spam/dust transactions of Ordinals.

I don't know if this still exist as a problem or challenge facing the bitcoin community any longer ever since it was addressed and talked about by many, transaction fee is no more a contention for us to make a bitcoin transaction, you have many alternatives to make you avoid any exorbitant hike on transaction fee, whereas ordinals are no more that affecting the network with high transaction fee, you can also customize your fee, or look at the mempool for when it's less congested before making your transactions with lower fee rate.

Few months back though, it was a huge issues, the network congestion was due to the BRC20 and Ordinals and it really took bitcoin enthusiast by storm. But lately though, at least at this point is has slow down a bit.

But there is occasional spikes in the network, and just like now, I see that the fastest is around 20 sat/vB which I think it's too expensive for us average Joe and all we can do is wait for the mempool to at least clear in the next hour and see how the fees will be.
712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 03, 2023, 04:28:04 AM

Tapales was lucky enough to rid of Murodjon Akhmadaliev because the latter's camp hasn't had the idea to bring up a rematch clause before they draw and signed the contract of their fight. That gives me some though that perhaps it wasn't an honest mistake made by the team because they were the champion, and it was big hole that they didn't fill and so I think that they might've underestimated Tapales hence why there wasn't a rematch clause.

Yes, most likely this is the case for the camp of Murodjon Akhmadaliev.
They have been the champion and to be honest, we really haven't heard of Marlon Tapales before.
It was all Nonito Donaire and Casimero and other Filipino at 118-122 lbs, and Marlon is just climbing up.
But it was a total surprised when Marlon pull one of the biggest upset when he beat a tough Murodjon Akhmadaliev, outboxing him very clearly and the judge was right about the score.
Now Murodjon Akhmadaliev camp is going to figure it out on how to become a champion again and probably not make the same mistakes.
If Tapales beats Inoue it will go down in history as the biggest upset in boxing, bigger than Douglas upsetting Mike Tyson, This fight carries a lot of pressure for Tapales at this point of Inoue's career he is invincible and keeps getting better I believe he is not yet at the peak of his power and speed, and it's hard to stop Inoue's train from moving there is no fighter in the super bantamweight that can beat him and Inoue wants challenge so I'm sure after this fight he'll go for Featherweight where there a lot of great champions to challenge.
I just hope Tapales offers good resistance I don't expect too much from Tapales but a good resistance and hopefully he can expose Inoue's weakness.

I agree, as this point, we really don't know if someone can beat Inoue specially at this weight class. He has proven himself at 118 already. And so moving up in weight and then beating a great champion in Fulton with a knockout, that's really impressive of him.

For Tapales, I als do agree with @bisdak40, he was a nobody, not even some Filipinos who follow boxing might have known his name. It was just when he beat Murodjon Akhmadaliev, a fighter that is in line with Inoue and some says that he has a chance to beat the Monster. But Tapales out pointed him in their fight that no one really saw it.
713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 03, 2023, 04:07:17 AM
Suddenly I'm seeing a lot of talk about the Suns trading Bradley Beal...  I don't even know if that's an option or something they would want, but I'm hearing names like Donovan Mitchell and James Harden.  I doubt the Suns would be willing to take on Harden as he's a huge risk and has already said he wants to be the number one option on whatever team he lands on, but Mitchell might be a legitimate option if they were trying to flip Beal.  I'd personally rather have Beal as I think he fits in better with other stars, but Mitchell is an elite player when it comes time to show it.

A lot of all-star players on one team isn't always a good thing, and I think getting Harden would have been a bad idea for the Suns. He already played with KD in the Thunder and then in the Nets. Both times, they didn't have any success.
As for Mitchell, we can conclude from last season's results that he feels pretty good about the Cavs. So, his trade to the Suns is unlikely.

I don't think this would happen either. The rumors may not be true, especially considering that the Suns already appear to be a super team. Trading Beal for Harden might not be a wise move since Harden isn't known for his defensive abilities. The Suns already have a lot of offensive firepower with their big three being primarily offensive players. In my opinion, if they want to win a championship together, they should focus on improving their defense.

Harden might be better suited going to a team that needs his offensive skills and can provide more balance to the league. For example, a struggling team like the Clippers could potentially benefit from his services. Hopefully, if a trade does happen, it benefits both parties involved.

Clippers have superstars like Kawhi (although prone to injury), and Paul George, so not sure how he will be a perfect fit either. Same with the Suns, they have a lot of great players already, including Kevin Durant.

And probably that's why initially we heard that Harden might go back to Houston Rockets as they don't have any legit superstars. But it seems that news has died down already and so we don't know what teams Harden will go or who will take him.
714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cockfighting? on: September 03, 2023, 03:50:23 AM
^^ I think it's really hard to separate animal cruelty like cockfighting to other gambling. I mean there are countries that really like cockfighting and this become part of their culture and tradition. Yeah, it's cruel, but what can we do if it is being practice for thousands or even hundreds of years?

And as for the subject matter, I'm also not familiar with casino's offering this. So this is not possible to the OP, and I do not think that casinos are going to offer this cockfighting for many reasons. To be fair, I'm also from a country that grow up seeing cockfighting becoming a tradition and sports and used it to gamble.
You are right and I completely agree with you, there are indeed some cities where cockfighting is a major game and the citizens of such City loves betting on the game, but you will agree with me that this betting has remained on a local level, and to be sincere with you, I personally do not think there is any chance that we will ever have to bet on such games in an international level, because no international casino will ever want to list such games due to animal laws governing some jurisdictions or cities in several parts of the world..

So for cities where cockfighting is a thing for them, they can go ahead and enjoy the game, but for me personally though, I do not see or find any excitement in such games.

Yes, I agree, it's local level only, although if I'm not mistaken, it's a world wide sports but then again, it's all about animals so for sure there will be a lot of issues with casino that want to cover this sports as there will be animal welfare and other groups that might raise an objective. So it's going to be a bad image for this casinos that's why they are not even thinking about it.

But for the country that embrace it, no doubt it's part of their tradition and no one can ban it, not ever their government or any other animal rights for that matter. We just have to respect it as it is.
715  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for September on: September 03, 2023, 03:20:44 AM
September is usually not a good month for bitcoin, but it is unlikely to fall below 23,000. There are no strong negatives on the horizon so far. Therefore, the most likely scenario for September is a sideways 25000-28000. Although a stronger fall with a quick recovery is also possible

Yes, most likely we will not go down below $23k. But last year though, if we will go back and take a look, we have a massive downturn because of the FTX collapse. And with that, I still can't get out the feeling that we might see some leg down before the end of the year. But I do hope that I'm wrong.

So for now, sideways is the next best option. It's good though, I mean it's we are somewhat in the middle so there could be breakout run in the upside or it might decline a bit. So we will see what happens in the last quarter of the year.
716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: September 02, 2023, 05:21:40 AM
An impressive win will gain attention and a possible negotiation in terms of being a belt challenger. It's a business and for sure
if there are many interests that will come up, the fight may take place.

He needs to earn that interest from both side, fans and promoters need to see an impressive outcome to give him that opportunity
to work at Inoue's camp.

Else, he will just stay behind and will keep on trying to win his spot in terms of rankings.

Unfortunately, Oguni doesn't even rank in the top 3 of this division. A victory in this fight may only bump him up slightly in the rankings, but it's unlikely to make him a mandatory challenger since there are other boxers ranked higher who are closer to the champion.

Once Inoue defeats Tapales, he will become the unified champion. It's possible he could choose to face Casimero, even if Casimero isn't the top-ranked challenger. Such a matchup would indeed be exciting to watch.

Yes, it's really up to Inoue and his manager if who they wanted to be the challenger and indeed if they are going to stay at 122 lbs for sometime before moving up. So in this case, the best thing for Casimero is just to win his fight as what we said, just like what he did in 118 lbs, he needs to knockout his opponents and maybe he will be given the chance despite not ranking higher.

Also one way it what he has done in the past, taunt Inoue specially that this fight is in Japan, maybe Inoue will be in the ring side to watch it live and if Casimero wins then he can call Inoue.
717  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is not going to $12k. on: September 02, 2023, 04:44:13 AM
I don't understand why the 12,000 figure is mentioned again. Bitcoin is about to halving, and after that, historically, a bull run begins.  It is unlikely that there will be very negative events before the halving that will cause such a big drop. Besides, people have already learned to wait.

The only reason I can think of is that last year we have seen lowest low of $15,500. So maybe the OP thinks that we can go below to $12k if there is a black swan events similar to FTX collapse last year that really put the market down.

However, we might or might not see some events unfold for this year. And it by chance this quarter there is no such things, then I doubt that $12k can be reach. And after that, 2024, we will have the bitcoin block halving and so the bull run will commence.
718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 02, 2023, 04:24:34 AM
It has been reported that Errol Spence has activated his rematch clause with Crawford at the last minute. He was given at least a month after their first fight. So in Aug 29, he activated but one thing in the clause is that he can choose whether to fight at 147 or 154 lbs.

I have a feeling though that it could be at 154 lbs, but not sure if the belts will be on the line since Crawford won at 147 lbs. So we will see if this fight happens before the end of the year or early next year.

If the fight happen on 154, it would probably a non-title fight, or the boxing council will look for something to offer the fight with some title at least, just like the upcoming exhibition fight of Manny Pacquiao, if I am not mistaken they will be given a Legendary Champion belt.

And we don't know what will be the excuse this time if Crawford beat Spence in the rematch worse than the first fight. Yes, they said that he is somewhat drained at 147 lbs as he has been campaigning in that weight class for years and even Crawford knows that way before they fight.

So I would like to hear what they going to say, Lol, it might be crazy if they think that they can win against this version of Crawford. They have to admit fair and square that Crawford is the best 147 lbs and the top p4p king in my book. He dominated all of his fights.
719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prime Trust's bankruptcy due to forgotten seed/private key on: September 02, 2023, 04:14:27 AM
It doesn't even matter if it's an exit scam or a legitimate screw up, it's a yet another precedent that crypto companies can lose your coins and you won't get back anything from them in court. Those people who want to be exposed to Bitcoin but not personally own it for some reason need to be ready to lose their investment in this way. So they should choose very-very carefully and not entrust their money to a startup that popped up yesterday. Better choose a company that has decades of positive reputation, though even that won't be a 100% insurance.

Exactly, although in the beginning investors might think that this is the best and safe bet for them, after all, they wouldn't bother on how to protect their bitcoins, specially investors that are not technically inclined.

But on the other hand, if you don't own your private keys and you let someone hold it for you, there are chances that they might screw it up like in this case. Now, they can't do anything and hopefully this might be set a precedent in a good way. Meaning investors would rather learn the intricacies of being a bitcoin investor like having their own hardware wallet for example and then back their own seed or private keys instead of letting some trust company to do that for them.

Maybe the Suns might have qualms about the Beal acquisitions specially with that massive contract that they acquire. And if I'm not mistaken, Harden also wanted to play with Phoenix. However, this is just a mock trade if I'm not mistaken, so let's see how it goes.

Suns losing CP3, they might be looking at at someone that can play point. Harden might fit that role as he had triple doubles throughout his career. Mitchell though might be a hard pitch as they have Durant and Booker already.
