761  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As our economy dey so, Bitcoin na blessing to us? on: October 11, 2023, 08:19:26 PM
For me oh, I think say Bitcoin na blessing to us, because no single entity get control over Bitcoin.
Making it more resistance to censorship and manipulation.
E dey empower individual to get direct control over their finances without relying on intermediaries.
Bitcoin dey decentralized and no authority/entity fit control am and if you dey use Bitcoin na you go always dey in control of your money/finances, but mind you, if you carry your Bitcoin put am for centralized exchanges you no dey in control again oh, na only when Bitcoin dey inside your non custodial wallet wey you go dey in control of your assets.

Having said that, generally Bitcoin no go help based on our current economical wahala, though Bitcoin fit serve as hedge for fiat inflation and e go fit give you ROI if you invest and hodl for the long term, but Bitcoin no go fit make the economy better generally, that one no follow for one of its use cases.
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nowhere is safe? on: October 11, 2023, 04:30:44 PM
With hacks occurring more frequently these days, I would strongly emphasize the importance of security. Whether it's a decentralized exchange (DEX) or a centralized exchange (CEX), no one is immune. First, we witnessed the Mixin incident, and now it's Galxe. It's crucial for everyone to assess the security measures of any platform before entrusting their funds. We all bear the responsibility to conduct thorough research before investing our hard-earned money
Mind you that exchanges are not supposed to be used for hodling your assets, your assets should be held in a non custodial wallet whilst exchanges should be used only for what they were built for, and that is for exchanging/converting/buying/selling assets. Having said that, centralized exchanges can lock your assets even at the point of deposit, but your assets cannot be locked/seized in decentralized exchanges because you have control over them, thus you should assess the risks before using either of them.

There's a new story at Man United. Casemiro is now seen as the team's weakest link. However, being the weakest link doesn't mean he's out of position. Casemiro is a good player, but age is catching up. He's giving his best, but he's slowing down, struggling to cover ground quickly or make swift decisions. Consequently, he's committing more fouls.
Every player has their ups and downs. Currently, he's not in top form, but it's hope that he'll bounce back.
I don't think it is that bad, Casemiro hasn't been at his best form lately, but i don't agree that he is the team's weakest link. Erik Ten Hag obviously substituted him a half-time against Brentford (a game Manchester United were losing at half-time but went on to win), meaning the manager wasn't pleased with Casemiro's performance in the first half, he gave the ball away that led to the goal, though Onana should have done better in saving the shot.

Having said that, there's currently no outstanding player in Manchester United, thus it is unfair to put all the blame on Casemiro, the entire team need to step up, and prolly that late victory against Brentford might be the action that kick starts their season.
764  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchange that offer depositing bitcoin from segwit address? on: October 11, 2023, 12:12:50 PM
If you are looking for an exchange free from KYC and support with BTC segwit deposit seems difficult because all exchange are required with KYC and better use personal wallet like Trustwallet if you want get segwit btc address without need KYC.
Not all exchanges require KYC and you can deposit Bitcoins into decentralized exchanges that support SegWit transactions. Having said that, trust wallet is not a good wallet to use for Bitcoin, they generate only one receiving address for you and that's terrible for privacy, recommended wallets like electrum generates only native segwit addresses and you can generate as many addresses as possible, so why use a closed source wallet like trust wallet that isn't good for privacy.

After the last 2 matches must lose, Manchester City will host Brighton in the upcoming match. Brighton also has the status of not an easy opponent to beat, they play well even though the last 2 matches they also struggled and had to lose and draw. Manchester City must not underestimate them in this match, if they do then Brighton has the potential to give them 3 defeats in a row. The absence of KDB affects their attack line, yes now they are a little difficult in building attacks and providing passes that spoil their attackers.
Pep Guardiola would know better than to underestimate Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi's men play one of the best kind of football in the EPL and on their day they can beat any opposition in the league. City are the team under pressure in this game, two straight losses and the players will have it at the back of their mind going into this game, three straight losses would feel like a disaster.

Having said that, City definitely miss KDB, but they have missed Rodri more in the last three games for which he was suspended; Rodri is back and is available for the game against Brighton, he should give this City team a lift and we'd see if they can get their first win in their last 3 EPL games.

Erling Haaland will get back to scoring ways
Definitely, i don't think anyone is doubting Haaland right now, we all know how it ends. I think Haaland has missed the creative ability of Kevin De Bruyne so much, and i think that is why he isn't scoring as much goals as he did last season. City are also not in top gear, it is not unusual for them to start the season slow anyway, it is like they try as much as possible to stay in the title race until the last part of the season, and then they hit top gear and win it. The season is still very long, so i expect City and Haaland to get back to their best form sooner rather than later.
767  Other / Off-topic / Re: Learn to be safe and secured online on: October 09, 2023, 09:20:23 PM
I don't know how I got infected. Maybe I downloaded some things or clicked suspicious links. After the incident I started using, sandbox, VM type of software, to test new things or links if I were unsure.
It is basically impossible to be 100% certain that your device is free from malware or any other type of attack, thus you should hodl your funds offline, only keep a small amount of funds in a hot/online wallet because such funds are susceptible to being hacked and stolen.
Did you run a malware/virus check and find anything? We hear of these clipboard style virus' often, but with modern security OS' and security software it seems unlikely to receive one unless someone  is a victim of a phishing attack.
Open source and security-based operating systems are great to use, but mind you that if your device is online, you cannot be sure it is completely free from malware and other forms of attack, even if you use such OS', thus your assets should be stored offline in a hardware wallet.

I don't know if we're over the ordinals spam attack just yet, but obviously the mempool is not clogged right now or as it was a couple of months ago, one can make transactions again with a fee rate of 2-7 sat/vB. Anyway, like i said; i don't think the BRC-20 spam attack is over, but it has definitely reduced and as was predicted when it began: it'd continue in that way until it is completely over.
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 08, 2023, 05:43:17 PM
Back to back EPL defeats for Pep Guardiola and City, i know Pep is a tactical genius, but i don't think he got his tactics right this time, it was almost like City were playing for a draw at some point. Arsenal were more daring and i think they deserved the win, i know the match was somewhat 50-50, but i think they controlled the game better and had most of the desire to go on and win the game, which they did.

City have missed Rodri immensely, they have lost the 3 games he missed (vs Newcastle, Wolves and Arsenal), this just goes to show how important the Spaniard is to City. After he lost his head and got sent off against Nottingham Forest, the question was if City would pay for it, which they did. Rodri would be available for their next game against Brighton after the international break, but City are going to have a tough run of big games in the next couple of weeks and we'd have to see how well City react.
770  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto Regulation in Nigeria. What is your Opinion? on: October 08, 2023, 03:18:07 PM
The first thought that comes to mind is for you my Nigerian brothers and sisters, would you want cryptocurrency to be regulated by the federal government of Nigeria? Apart from the obvious perk of being able to buy and sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies directly from your banks without the use of P2P service anymore, are there any other perks if bitcoin is regulated in Nigeria? Would anything change from the point of crypto holders? Please share what you think.
Personally i don't care about regulations, neither do i want to buy Bitcoin directly using my bank, even before the CBN placed a ban on Nigerians banks handling crypto transactions, i never used that option, i've always been fine with peer to peer transactions. The thing is, if there is an obvious framework/regulation for cryptocurrencies in Nigeria, it will allure crypto companies to the Nigerian market, more of such companies would be able to offer their services to Nigerian customers, that is the only "advantage" i can pinpoint, but personally i do not care, as long as they don't place a complete ban on crypto.
771  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency thought me Patience on: October 08, 2023, 02:02:47 PM
During my early days in the crypto industry I struggle to hodl crypto asset because I am naturally impatient person, of a truth I struggle to hodl, I mostly sell my asset at a loss.
Since you didn't mention the particular crypto you are talking about, let me remind you that most altcoins are short term coins, thus you shouldn't be hodling them for the long term. Sell altcoins immediately you make ROI, and do not hodl it even when it is dumping, sell it at a loss or you end up being a badholder.
Through reading and under going through crypto courses, I became more enlightened which made me hold high value asset like Bitcoin, Entheruem and Bnb.
You underwent crypto courses to learn how to hodl crypto assets, lol, Grin are you kidding me. Finally, mind you that Ethereum and BNB aren't high value cryptocurrencies.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: October 07, 2023, 10:46:33 PM
Chelsea and Manchester City are also monitoring Alphonso Davies to sign him.
Alphonso Davies would cost quite a lot of money, and i don't think City are ready to spend big for a defender again, so soon after signing Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig. Chelsea on the other hand have been spending money left, right and center, it is almost like they cannot say "no" to any good player that's available, Marc Cucurella has not lived up to expectations and Ben Chilwell is not really that solid at left back, thus Alphonso Davies might be an option.

Having said that, it would be great if the Canadian can follow in the footsteps of David Alaba and join Real Madrid from Bayern Munich, it is a dream for most players to play for Real Madrid, and if it is true that they are interested in Davies, he might move there.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 07, 2023, 10:17:48 PM
Erik ten Hag is the kind of coach who's good at build young players from the scratch and not just signing and using already established players. This is where Manchester United made a mistake. Every huge player Manchester United signed under his management seems to have failed to perform according to his expectations and so, or later, they are going to have to sack him
I don't know about his "record" of building young players, i didn't follow his progress at Ajax, but what i know is that as a football manager, you ought to know how to manage your players well, especially the big players, i think Erik Ten Hag is more concerned about being a disciplinarian than developing good football tactics and strategies to win games. Manchester United managed to get two late goals today to beat Brentford, but i hope United fans don't think that their bad days are behind them now, this Manchester United team aren't playing like winners, and it is not going to be long before they start losing games in a row again.

However it's wrong if you say PSG is dominating, check Ligue 1 now, PSG is currently in fifth position, Mbappe is still struggling in Ligue 1 without Messi, Neymar and Sergio
Ramos.
PSG is definitely dominating the league, in the sense that since 2012-2013 season, they only failed to win the league twice, that is complete dominance, and even if they are not on top right now and are struggling, they have the highest chance of winning the league. I never understood why people thought Messi and Neymar were the problem, they obviously made Mbappe a better player and i don't think he would do better in PSG without them, than he did with them. Mbappe could finally be on his way to Real Madrid by next summer, he would want a team that can challenge for the CL, and right now PSG ain't that team.

what i think about, they are using Coinbase, Binance, Etoro ... and if your Coins are there,
they are not decentralized.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGwaV9wk_V4
Just as was said in the video above, not your keys; not your coins. If an exchange controls the keys to your assets, they can block you from withdrawing it, they can also lock you out of your assets if they get any request to do so from law enforcement agencies. Mind you that you do not control the wallet address given to you by a centralized exchange, they are the ones that control it.

It is not possible for anyone to block Bitcoin addresses, if you have an address on an exchange and you were prevented from spending it, the address was not blocked per se, the 'owners of the keys' (that's the exchange) do not just want you to spend it and you can't spend Bitcoins without the valid keys; thus don't hodl your assets in exchanges, but move them into your non-custodial wallet.

Guardiola is immensely complaining about Rodri missing the game and that the referee sent him off anyway. Can't recall the foul right now, but I am sure Manchester City has someone on the bench who is just good enough to play instead of Rodri. Tongue
I don't know where you saw Pep complaining about Rodri missing the game, i've watched all Pep's press conferences this season and after the Nottingham Forest game, Pep was actually angry at Rodri (and not the ref) for losing his head and getting sent off. Pep has been asked countless times if Rodri would be a big miss for City, and he accepted that he would be greatly missed, and of course that is true, Rodri is the best defensive midfielder in the world and City have missed him since he has been suspended and they will miss him on Sunday, but Pep hasn't be complaining, instead he said they will find a solution, which i'm pretty sure they will.

It is a big game on Sunday, and it is almost impossible to predict, Rodri is a big miss and i think Saka might also miss the game due to injury. City have a good run of defeating Arsenal, thus i expect it to continue.
777  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Lets Please Discuss Altcoins on: October 06, 2023, 01:35:24 PM
Ever since i became interested in cryptocurrencies, i no sure say i don buy altcoins, me na person wey believe so much in Bitcoin and i no dey look the side of altcoins. The reason be say na Bitcoin be the first crypto wey i know, and i come study so deep about am, na there i find out say Bitcoin get actual utility, no be just hype or pump and dump coin, and also at that time, all the altcoins wey i bin dey try learn about either turned to a scam or the project just fail.

Having said that, i no dey discourage person wey get interest in altcoins, but make you dey very careful, e make sense to invest in altcoins during the bull season, but you fit wait make bull run start fes, then any coin wey show small potential, you fit put small money on am (though you no go make much ROI as person wey invest on am since). The reason i dey give this advise be say, if you start now to pick altcoins, na gamble you dey do oh, and all the coins you pick fit fail and your money go waste, but if you dey lucky you fit make ROI. Finally no forget to DYOR, e dey very important.
778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: next bitcoin? on: October 06, 2023, 12:26:16 PM
Who says it's too late to learn about Bitcoin, anyone who wants to learn about Bitcoin can learn whenever they are ready.
I think OP is talking about missing out on the opportunity of investing in Bitcoin in its early days, quite a lot of people think they've missed out on Bitcoin because thy didn't buy Bitcoin when it was relatively cheap, well the reason is that most people who think this way consider Bitcoin as only a get rich quick scheme, because if they didn't, they'd appreciate how far the network has come, both in terms of price and as a currency.

Op seems to be looking for another coin like Bitcoin (still in its early days), so they can buy it now and benefit when it grows into the future, it is better if they take such thought out of their mind, there are many altcoins out there and so many more are going to be created in the future, but 9 out of 10 lacks any actual utility or is a scam coin, forget about the "next Bitcoin" and use Bitcoin.
779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 05, 2023, 09:33:39 PM
It's not been confirmed yet if Bukoya Saka would be fit to play against Manchester City this weekend and alot of Arsenal fans would be hoping the injury sustained against Lens in the UCL match is not very severe and they could see their star player on the pitch
It would be a big blow for Arsenal if Saka is unavailable to play against City on Sunday, the match is not a title decider, but the winner is going to make a huge statement and send a message to the rest of the league. It is indeed great to come out on top in big duels like this very early on in the season, it can give the team the momentum they need to go all the way.
they might have lost 2 matches due to the red card booking of Rodri but Pep managed to come up with a strategy that enabled him to perform well and win their UCL match against Leipzig therefore I believe he should be strategising on winning Arsenal currently.
Mind you that Rodri was available against RB Leipzig in the CL, but he would be unavailable against Arsenal as that would be the third and final game he'll miss due to suspension. John Stones is also back from injury, i can see him playing in that Rodri role on Sunday, that's if he is fit to play.
780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 05, 2023, 08:23:00 PM
I can't even believe in PSG to be successful despite having Mbappe. As long as this team don't reassure us by some consistency I will doubt their qualifying from the group.
It will be a disaster if PSG fail to make it out of the group stage, but it is still very much in their hands to avoid that disaster, it is quite early for PSG to push the panic button, they are second in the group. PSG's next two games in the group is against Ac Milan, both home and away, it is after those games that we can start to give our predictions as to who'll make it out of the group, if PSG get a good result in both games, then they might be in a strong position to qualify, but if they don't, they could actually be eliminated, which would be a huge shock and a disappointment to everyone associated with PSG.
