762  Economy / Lending / Seeking Someone to Invest With...LOW BTC-HIGH return in Fiat $$$ on: June 01, 2013, 12:05:22 AM
I am seeking someone to invest WITH me no more than 3-4 coins (more if you think the plan is solid). Returns would not be in Bitcoins, but fiat USD $. They could be exponential-I have proof to back my claims. SERIOUS people only, please.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paper Wallets : Do you somehow validate that the pk QR work b4 using? on: May 31, 2013, 11:43:17 PM
Hey,

I'm about to move some funds to a paper wallet, but then I got spooked, thinking that the possibility of my printer making an invisible, but damaging print error in the private key QR, could exist. Ok, i could then type the key, but the pk font (at least in the default template from bitaddress.org) is tiny and smudge prone on a less than great printer, and it would be a bit unnerving.

Do you personally somehow validate that the pk QR's work before putting btc on pw address ?
Can someone recommend a trusted, offline paper wallet thingy that prints the pk a bit larger?
Does anyone use special paper ? (photo paper/settings even??)

I could just scan the pk with QR droid on my phone to verify, but then it's not truly 100% cold anymore.

Thanks for input !

/orz.dk

You can check it with your phone. Otherwise you're bordering on paranoia. I always check mine.
I have printed QR codes as small as .6'' x .6'' (to reload Casascius coin) and it works fine. I would stay away from glossy photo paper...has the highest tendency to smudge.

765  Economy / Goods / Re: [SMALL] Group Buy for new Casascius Product? on: May 31, 2013, 11:43:10 AM
I can ship from US anywhere in the world for about $5..unless these things weigh a ton...not likely because they are aluminum
That'd be good. I'd not really be willing to pay much more than that since it'd just be for novelty value. They don't actually look that good in my opinion. Looks a bit like ones that were made by a very cheap manufacturer. Nothing near the quality of his others.

If you find some others willing to contribute send me a message and I'll send you the coins for my share.

Thanks.
Hadn't seen them til you mentioned that. I don't think they're too bad. and you get 500 for 1.5 BTC, soo..
Maybe we can do a group of 5 buyers, 100 of the things each?
766  Economy / Goods / Re: [SMALL] Group Buy for new Casascius Product? on: May 30, 2013, 10:44:09 PM
I'd take 50 but I don't know where you are located. Shipping could be problematic. I'm UK based.

767  Economy / Goods / Re: For sale: Valcambi CombiBar 50g BREAKABLE GOLD on: May 30, 2013, 10:00:54 PM
I'm sorry, but are you guys crazy? Just the gold value of this (I calculated using VERY conservative gold spot and bitcoin price figures) is worth 17.37BTC (@129/BTC). Plus these are awesome so they carry a good premium. OP is nice, I would feel insulted by an offer for 5.x bitcoins that someone mentioned.

I wasn't being mean or crazy. I thought 14 BTC ($1820) was a fair starting price for negotiating.
I was more looking at the 5.xx bid  Undecided
768  Other / Off-topic / Re: I can't believe nobody has created the *official* 1oz silver Bitcoin round on: May 30, 2013, 10:15:58 AM
Silver and Bitcoins go hand in hand. I bet somebody could make a lot of money contracting a mint to make THE (it would be THE because it would have no predecessors) 1oz Silver Bitcoin round. I'm not talking about Casascius's 1oz, 10 BTC round. I'm talking like...the copper Bitcoin rounds that somebody had made. If I had the money to invest in the project I'd do it in a second. Its a significant venture-you have to come up with a design, have the die(s) made, and have the mint make at least the minimum quantity...something like 500 rounds on average I think.
But, with spot being so low, nows the time to do it. I can imagine most users on here would want one, so you could command a pretty good premium for them, make a lot of money.

Like these? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74731.0

Good job recalling that one, btw.

Something like that, yes. But it needs a way better design (kind of ugly-sorry) and advertised pretty aggressively to get even close to the level of Casascius and his coins.
770  Economy / Goods / [SMALL] Group Buy for new Casascius Product? on: May 30, 2013, 10:11:21 AM
Hi,
I want a good number of these...but I definitely don't need 500. 100 maybe? Anyone else?

https://www.casascius.com/
I am talking about the aluminum coins that come in qtyx500 and only cost 1.5 BTC
771  Economy / Goods / Re: Casascius Coin International Shipping on: May 30, 2013, 09:43:50 AM
Sorry- a couple more things.
If you have to mark what the goods are, choose the "gift" option  Wink
If you do everything I've mentioned, postal workers abroad will think you "know the drill" and thus pay less attention to your package.
772  Economy / Goods / Re: Casascius Coin International Shipping on: May 30, 2013, 09:42:11 AM
If you are sending Casascius Coins internationally the best way for you to label them is;
"Collectible Token"

Using the words coin, Bitcoin, or anything like it is a sure way to have your items held in customs and either returned to you or confiscated. Those terms refer to money and/or legal tender. Typically you're prohibited from shipping such items internationally.

I use the term Collectible Token and it works well.
Also, put "Contents: Less Than $XX USD". Make the number as small as possible, but don't go too far. For example, you'd be fine sending 2-3-MAYBE 4 coins and declaring the value as $15-20. Why is this important? Stupid fucking excise taxes. They are there to "protect us". Basically, they tax you for goods you bought abroad that you could have gotten at home. Although, this does not ALWAYS happen. Anyway, its good to be safe. $1000=MUCH higher excise tax than $20=. I trust you know what I mean!
773  Economy / Services / Turn Your Junk .999 Silver into a Hand-Poured Bar [Which Sell For a Premium] on: May 30, 2013, 08:01:17 AM
Hey everybody,
I figured right now was the best time to post this, considering the low silver has been at and *knock on wood* hopefully stays at. Also, I've gotten some new equipment and am anxious to get back to melting.
What I'm suggesting is, you send me your JUNK 1oz silver pieces (bars or rounds-the ones that are all toned and nasty looking, are some stupid art bar, etc) and I melt them down into 1oz bars for you. I'd videotape the entire process so you could verify it is in fact your silver in the bar that I make.

I have a .999FS hand stamp I'll stamp on there, room to label it "1 oz" or put anything else you want on there (my collection of handstamps includes numbers 0-9, letters A-Z, and a "lighting bolt" lol). You might wonder why the hell you'd take a professionally minted bar/round, melt it down and make a hand-poured, hand-stamped bar not backed by any mint or anything. I have two answers for you. One, you might think its cool. Two, people on eBay go CRAZY for hand-poured and stamped bars. I'm not kidding, when I was more into melting I would go buy junk rounds for 50cents over spot, add some flux and some shot (to ensure weight and purity), melt em down in my crucible and then pour them into a mold (I use wood-they're only 1-time use, but I can get 4 bars out of a 99cent wooden chest from a craft store, and graphite isn't ideal for torch melting).

Anyways, check eBay to see what I mean about the premium people pay for hand-poured bars (I SORT OF understand it-maybe they think they're old, or they just like the look of some real craftsmanship).

I don't need to make any money off of this (like I said, I enjoy it), but I do just want to make sure the materials I have to use (gas, silver shot, molds) are paid for-so I would request from you only $2. Shipping would only cost you a couple dollars (via USPS First Class). You could just send postage stamps along with your silver to me and I'll package it up and send it back your way.

I'm going to be very busy for the next couple of weeks, so no guarantees of what I can do during that time. But, if you want your silver turned into a customized bar I'd literally be happy to do it. Message me if interested and we could figure it out.

Ones I've done in the past (I'd like to think I've gotten better, too):

ALSO
If you have scrap 925 (Sterling) Silver (92.5% Silver), I can melt that down for you too. Silver jewelry is made out of 925 silver. I can only work with it though if its JUST silver (no stones, etc). There are 925 scrap lots available in all different sizes on eBay all the time. Turning a bunch of old, broken jewelry into a solid silver bar makes sense.

Here is some of what I've done with 925 Silver:

775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I've never been into ALTCOINs, but would it be wise to convert some BTC to LTC? on: May 30, 2013, 07:33:17 AM
Honestly when Litecoins came out I thought they were something that would blow over in a matter of weeks. They seem to be holding strong, though. Would it be wise (I have a decent number of bitcoins) to convert a small portion of them to LTC? If it helps, I am "in it for the long run".
776  Economy / Scam Accusations / TELL ME this is not a scam... on: May 30, 2013, 03:05:41 AM
First, check this listing and make sure you read all the info (terms of sale, etc)

https://www.bitmit.net/en/item/35806-20-oz-jm-silver-bar-bullion

It is a brand new user essentially asking to not have a transaction escrowed...which BitMit does not allow until you are an established seller.

Furthermore, I happen to know that hand-poured Johnson-Matthey bars go for a premium. ESPECIALLY 20oz ones (a rare size-usually its just 10oz and 100 oz). So, checkout what this SAME EXACT item is going for on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=20oz+johnson-matthey+bar&_sacat=0&_from=R40

And the auction is at $200 with one day left?

Would you agree-its time to notify BitMit Admin?
777  Other / Off-topic / Re: Story about photo lab job [NSFW] on: May 30, 2013, 02:11:16 AM
I worked in a photo lab when I was in college. This was back before digital cameras were in wide use. People would take photos at college parties and drop them off for one hour development.

Most of the photos were pretty boring. A group of guys or girls posing, obviously drunk. Beer cans, Solo cups. A couple bongs. And the occasional topless girl or someone puking. Nothing too unexpected.

But there was one guy that came in on a regular basis. His photos were always hardcore pornography. Spread eagle shots, blowjobs, facials. Gaping vaginas and assholes. I fucking loved printing this guy's stuff and put extra effort into getting the color balance and exposure just right. It got so that he'd ask for me every time he dropped film off.

He started showing up to the shop with a girl on his arm. The same one every time. He called her Amber, though I suspect that wasn't her real name. Let's just say that I already knew Amber more intimately than did her gynecologist. Nearly all the photos coming in at this point from this guy were of Amber.

As time went on, the photos got more and more extreme. At first, it was just her getting fucked or spreading her ass open. Pretty soon, a dick shoved down her throat and tears streaming down her face, her heavily-applied mascara smeared in an almost comical fashion. I printed one of these for my own pleasure and added the caption "Harlequin."

Pretty soon, it appeared, my favorite customer got involved in hardcore BDSM. Photos of Amber tied to the floor, helpless. Butt plugs that appeared to increase in size every time he came in. Clothespins on her nipples, down the backs of her arms. She still had bruising from these when I saw her once. She saw me admiring her love marks and gave me an almost demure wink.

Fisting. Double fisting. Gapes so large it looked like she just shit a watermelon. And then started the erotic knife play. Photos of Amber with a knife to her throat, red marks on her skin, then small cuts. Tears still streaming down her face. And every time I'd admire a scar when I saw her in person, she'd smile at me and whisper knowingly to my favorite photographer.

I graduated before I got to see where all this was going. Every time this couple would come in, I'd find myself furiously masturbating in the back room of the photo lab. She ruined me for other women. Sweet, innocent college girls would show me their tits or go down on me. But it was never quite enough. I dreamed of the horrible things I could do to a girl. I dreamed of my own Amber.

To this day, I don't think I'll ever be satisfied that I've found The One until I can reach inside her through her anus and feel her intestines moving her waste rhythmically, romantically, through her body. I don't think I can be happy until I can crawl inside her digestive system and hide from the world.

But isn't that ultimately what we all want? To find someone that we care about so dearly that the rest of the world doesn't matter?
All joking aside-you need some real help.
778  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would You Rather Have... on: May 30, 2013, 02:05:57 AM
Silver for sure. Silver has more value intrensically

dafuq u talkin bout nikka?
He's talking about silver's value in all kinds of industries. Its is the greatest conductor of heat and electricity. Its in every computer, smartphone, etc. They even use it to make clothes.
And, for so long, silver was not necessarily considered a "precious metal"-it was used in industry and considered expendable. As time goes on, technology will only require more silver, as no metal/alloy can imitate its features. You guys should watch Chris Duane's early (forget the scam aspect if you know what I'm talking about) videos on youtube. His channel is "thegreatesttruthnevertold".
