781  Economy / Gambling / Re: Win one bitcoin on: March 01, 2019, 10:53:59 AM
I've gotta say that it's a pretty unique concept.
Others have mentioned it in this thread, but it reminds me of that Million dollar website, where people can buy blocks of ad space.

15% house edge is very steep though, I mean i don't even know of any other gambling websites that have such a high house edge.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal fears Bitcoin :) PayPal CEO Dan Schulman Disses BTC & Praises Blockchain on: March 01, 2019, 10:42:32 AM
Well of course he's going to publicly denounce Bitcoin, I mean Bitcoin has just surpassed Paypal in terms of yearly transaction volume.
Source: https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/02/26/bitcoin-surpasses-paypal-in-yearly-transaction-volume-at-1-3-trillion/

Then there's this, an ex Paypal COO has had some very positive things to say about Bitcoin recently.
Also participating in the Lightning Torch Bitcoin transaction relay.

If I were Paypal's CEO, I'd be worried too.

--snip--

Paypal is losing this battle. I'm sure CEO sees the numbers and knows where this is heading. It's not the fault of Bitcoin. It's the fault of Paypal's high fees.

Well, not only the high fees, it's also that you're just not in control of your own money.
Paypal can just lock your account for as long as they want, under the guise of 'fraud investigation'.

Imagine having a business and having your Paypal account frozen for X amount of weeks.
Yes, they have done this to many people and businesses, sometimes for pretty obscure reasons.
783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful with your blockchain transactions on: March 01, 2019, 10:31:58 AM
I've recently seen discussion on Reddit about that, this wasn't done by accident.
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/asapta/someone_just_paid_2100_eth_for_transaction_fees/

The jury's still out on why someone would do this, but I'm sure there's some explanation behind it.
Someone in that reddit thread mentioned possible money laundering, but I'm not sure how that would work.

@eternalgloom

I'm passionate about both blockchain technology and Universal Basic Income. I think both can help with the fight against global warming Smiley
But I also enjoy writing ;p

Consider joining Steem then Smiley They have a pretty good basic income project, guaranteeing you an upvote on every article you write there.
Plus, other people will also upvote you, so you could stand to earn quite a bit there.

785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling poll on: February 28, 2019, 12:03:33 PM
I do actually gamble on the website that I'm promoting through my signature campaign.
Usually every week or so, but I don't always deposit money to play.

I tend to use their faucet a lot, just to have some fun.
Sometimes I'll actually win a significant amount with that and then I'll withdraw it.

787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptoscanner working in real time - 17 exchanges, 1215 cryptocurrencies on: February 28, 2019, 10:51:09 AM
It's definitely interesting to use this for finding decent arbitrage opportunities and I see that it has quite a lot of features already.
Any idea how much the pricing would be to get access to the premium features in the future?

I know you've mentioned that you will be handling payment in ALG tokens, but do you have some ballpark figures in mind about the prices for access in USD?
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Building Passive Income with Masternodes on: February 28, 2019, 10:37:58 AM
Why do you think that this particular coin will ever be worth anything?
I mean it's at rank 1462 on Coinmarketcap and barely has any volume (only 0.07 BTC per day)

They even mention on their website that they use the same codebase as Bitcoin, hardly innovative.

To set up a masternode, you need 50k GLT tokens, which is worth around $100.
Do you think you're going to make that money back, while it's likely that this coin will barely see any use?
789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin gambling that stressed me out (i wanna quit) on: February 28, 2019, 09:55:28 AM
I have been gambling since 2 years ago. Playing from casino sites to another casino sites. Win lose, win lose, win lose, many sleepless nights. One time somewhere 2018 i started to bet bigger than before. I got stressed out because of the bustings. I cant stop myself from playing. I just want to stop. Up until now, im still gambling and i cant stop myself from it. What will you do if you have situatiom something like this?
I'll figure out what is wrong with me. It's hard to get rid of that if I used to be like that for a long time. However, by doing other stuffs like playing online games instead gambling could be the solution to keep my attention less in gambling.

That's a good first step I think. replacing gambling with another activity, like gaming, could very well work.
I know that when I took an extended break from gambling, I just worked more and in my free time I would just play multiplayer games.

This won't work for everyone though and it's important to just be honest with yourself, seek professional help when you know you can't manage to quit on your own.
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING - Coinomi Wallet CRITICAL Vulnerability Made Me Lose My Life Savings on: February 27, 2019, 05:29:27 PM
Please read Coinomi's official response on the incident: https://medium.com/coinomi/official-statement-on-spell-check-findings-547ca348676b

I know LoyceV already mentioned it above, but I'd like to reiterate what he said:

Did you really have to use his full name? Pretty unethical behavior at your end IMO.
That said, I am curious how OP's funds got stolen exactly. Seems unlikely that it was someone at Google's end.

Wouldn't the more likely scenario be that his own PC was already compromised?

Still doesn't make up for the vulnerability though.
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lessons from poker on: February 27, 2019, 03:26:18 PM
That's basically why I've quit playing poker, it's hard to keep up with all the latest 'trends' in the game if you're not consistently playing.
The last time I seriously played poker was about 5 years ago and I'd gotten pretty good at playing tournaments.

I'd end up at the final table pretty frequently, because I was very much interested into researching and improving on strategies that other players used.
The thing is that you really have to keep your knowledge up-to-date, I'd spend several hours per day watching other people play and improve on my own strategy.

This just became too much of a hassle in the end and I didn't enjoy playing anymore.

I'm not into sports betting for the same reason, I know what a time-sink it would be...
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING - Coinomi Wallet CRITICAL Vulnerability Made Me Lose My Life Savings on: February 27, 2019, 03:04:38 PM
Presently I'm using coinomi wallet and I've been using coinomi wallet since 2016 I guess ,the experience is always best than other wallets I've used so far ,I don't have answer to your claim but I'm using the mobile version ,since you using the windows version it might be true or your pc was already hijacked right before you import your passphrase ,I'm sorry for your loss

So, you haven't actually gone through the trouble of reading his post then?

Fact is that they sent passphrases in clear plain text to Google servers.
Whether you've personally have had any issues with Coinomi is besides the point AND you're doing everyone a disservice by bringing that up.

Next time, maybe don't comment when you have no clue what OP is talking about.

Disclaimer: Look, I don't mind uninformed people asking questions or adding to the discussion, but I do mind when they're spreading misinformation.
793  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What do you actually spend your cryptocurrency on? on: February 27, 2019, 02:30:07 PM
If you're in Europe, I can wholeheartedly recommend using Bitcoin on any of the takeaway.com websites.
For those of you who haven't heard about this service, they do food deliveries in many different European countries.

I literally spend some of my Bitcoins there on a weekly basis and they've been accepting Bitcoin for years now.

Here's a current order that I'm making at Domino's Tongue

It's in Dutch, but you get the gist...
794  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paxful or LocalBitcoins? Which one is better and why? on: February 27, 2019, 02:07:47 PM
I don't know, while I do prefer Paxful's UI, I just tend to avoid using them because their CEO has been involved in some shady stuff.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/paxful-exchange-ceo-and-cto-arrested-in-miami-on-weapons-and-drugs-charges

Look, I'm pretty libertarian myself, nothing against weapons or drugs, but I do consider it a liability when the CEO of a Bitcoin exchange gets caught with it.
So yeah, I'll gladly use LBC's outdated UI over Paxful any day.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING - Coinomi Wallet CRITICAL Vulnerability Made Me Lose My Life Savings on: February 27, 2019, 01:53:36 PM
Fucking hell, I would literally be sick if I had lost such a big amount of money.
It's easy for people to criticize you for not choosing a proper wallet, but yeah, hindsight 20/20 right...

I hope you share this across multiple social media websites and keep doing this for at least a couple of weeks.
People should absolutely know that Coinomi sent passphrases over plain text for X amount of years(?)!

Without trying to be a dick about it, I would seriously recommend that you keep your live savings in a secure cold storage wallet.
Figure out a solution to do this securely and mostly offline, there are some great tutorials out there on how to do this.

Looking at your post, you obviously have the technical know-how to pick a more secure, more technical crypto storage solution.
Please do so in the future, if you're not totally done with cryptocurrency.
796  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 4 Years Old ⭐ No bet delay on dice every Monday! ⭐ on: February 26, 2019, 01:59:11 PM
@CG

Oh yeah, that makes sense, now that I read the post again it does look very spammy.
Well, either spammy or the person can't do reading comprehension Tongue
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto ATM robed. on: February 26, 2019, 01:44:17 PM
Well, at least they took all the cash out, but it still sucks that the machine was badly damaged.
I hope they at least have camera footage of the perpetrators, so there's a small chance that they'll find them.

The worst part is that they literally broke this machine for no reason :-/
798  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 4 Years Old ⭐ No bet delay on dice every Monday! ⭐ on: February 25, 2019, 03:06:03 PM
These signature campaign spammers are unbearable.

Who are you talking about specifically?
People wearing the Crypto-Games signature? Or other people who are replying to this thread?

Usually you can report those people to the campaign manager, if you think they're spamming.

@CG:

Loving the no bet delays, I'm glad that it's a weekly thing from now on!
Finally 10 satoshi bets at full speed  Grin

@Green.warrior

Hehe, I'm glad that you've found my thread useful and I definitely agree with your assessment.
These UBI projects really depend on people from richer countries buying up these UBI coins and keeping the prices high artificially.

That said, while this form of UBI might not be truly lifesaving for people in poorer countries, it could provide those people with a little bit of income just to get their basic necessities.
It's far from perfect, but I do think they could make a small difference.

Only if those people can properly access them though, so I hope that some of these projects will try to reach those people, without the people having to find them on the internet (for which they have to pay).

Thanks for your reply, awesome that you made an account on this forum purely to reply to this thread!
