781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: best software to mine with my own PC? (windows 7) on: July 08, 2017, 08:58:30 PM
Could you clarify? You don't mean you're going to try and mine with a CPU or GPU right? Those days are long over.

Check out this link for mining software though. https://99bitcoins.com/the-6-best-bitcoin-mining-software/.
782  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Wallet that doesn't require ID and other stuff on: July 08, 2017, 08:41:02 PM
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind ever need a web wallet!? They're so much extra work for so much less security.

Mycelium, electrum, Bitcoin core. Don't stray into Web wallets where someone can steal your bitcoins. There are no bitcoin banks because we don't need them. That's literally the whole point of bitcoins. Trust no one. You don't need to.
783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone ever tried medicine to control impulsive gambling? on: July 08, 2017, 11:02:16 AM
Lol what!? Try therapy. What the hell would medicine do other than sedate you so you don't have the will to do anything? Whether you're talking about anti-depressants, beta blockers or good only Mary Jane you're going to be disappointed.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin popularity made it vulnerable to governments on: July 08, 2017, 03:28:35 AM
Lol the whole master key thing is hilarious. How stupid would you feel if you publicly asked for this. Every bitcoiner knows you're an idiot but everyone who is as clueless as him go zomg bitcoins have a master key to shut the whole thing down. Oh noes! I'll buy shitpple instead.
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Code is law. on: July 08, 2017, 03:13:57 AM
So if I'm reading this right you're expecting a war  from bitcoin miners? Our dystopian future is looking bleaker all the time folks. Maybe just lok into altcoins Wink
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: Experts! is it time to sell or buy? on: July 08, 2017, 03:10:45 AM
Once bitcoin is essentially fixed on august first the price will go up and up because it will be useful again. You can't have a decent faucet anymore because the fees would be 10x what you'd ever earn.
787  Economy / Speculation / Re: price after segwit? on: July 07, 2017, 02:36:51 AM
After segwit, I predict a short term drop in terms of price because some people may not like it being implemented so maybe they will dump their bitcoin stash. Later on it will go up again and the effect of the price drop if it were to happen will only last for few days or weeks. Considering some more users might enter bitcoin again if transactions get fast again, I expect that we would test 3000 $ price again.
The percentage of people who may get panic/dislikes will be in very insignificant numbers hence we cannot expect any dump as solving scalablity issue even for time being may boost bitcoin prices into new level like  $5000 price levels hopefully.

I am expecting $5000 in August and $10k in December, after scalabilty issues I am not seeing any big hurdles bitcoin may face hence we can expect prices start flying again.

easily the price can and will double ,i think some of the eth money will come back into bitcoin if a scaling solution is presented and increased growth from institutional investors who have been staying on the sidelines to see what happens ..........
There will be a decline in bitcoin prices after segwit2x but only for a moment and then there is a rocket that has been prepared to go to the moon. I'm sure $4000 will be achieved or even maybe it could exceed that value, nobody knows for sure but I'm sure about it will come true.
I wouldn't bank on their being any dip at all, it could be already priced in and don't forget that if bitcoin splits into two chains, you need to have bought it before 1st August to own them both

This is added incentive for people to buy before so they can benefit from the big blocks chain and Luke's 1mb chain if it doesn't die immediately  Cheesy

Yeah that dip to, what was it $2100? That is where segwit2x uncertainty was priced in. From here we HODL, then on August 2nd-10th when everything goes well we're going so much higher. Hopefully the infinite supply ponzi known as ETH will crash.
788  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin in Economics class? on: July 07, 2017, 02:29:48 AM
Funny, I took a course in econometrics in 2009 just as bitcoin was coming onto the scene.   It was actually the last college course I took.  Definitely no mention of bitcoin then, but I'm sure somewhere in the thousands of courses being taught that btc is being mentioned.   It's too big not to be at this point.  I hear kids are even using laptops in class nowadays.   Lol

Lol they weren't back in your times too, just not quite as often. Most teachers didn't appreciate them because they were a distraction. My profs made people with laptops sit in the very back.

I could see them talking about it now. How could you not? I remember having a lesson on fiat currencies. It was interesting so bitcoin lessons would be much more interesting.
789  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2017-06-06 CoreMedia.info - May The Fork Be With You 🍴 on: July 07, 2017, 02:19:16 AM
Huh bip actually stands for something. I never really thought of it. I learned something from your post so thanks! Hopefully a lot of newbies read this so they can understand what's going on in plain English and simmer down!
790  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Buying Google Play Store Cards or Itunes AT DISCOUNTED PRICE ONLY on: July 07, 2017, 02:13:02 AM
Only trustable members.

Preferably google play store cards, but itunes will be accepted if there's no other choice at the moment.

Please save your time and mine if you're new and trying to do it without escrow.

B. Rgrds

Then why are you on this forum? It's obvious that op is looking to spend some bitcoins here wouldn't you say?
791  Economy / Speculation / Re: "The price of your bitcoin is 1000 times overvalued" on: July 07, 2017, 02:09:41 AM
I just wrote this post  about reasons I believe Bitcoin might be currently undervalued. Also wrote a bit on why we gotta watch out for a possible ICO Bubble . Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total crypto-enthusiast, on the other hand I try to be very logical about my analysis as an investment.

There are literally hundreds of ICOs going on right now and every single one of them gets millions invested because of a good idea basically and nothing else. There's going to be a huge crash from all of the coins that never do what they were supposed to.
792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nasdaq Stocks can crash ... at level of 80%. on: July 06, 2017, 10:34:21 PM
Till exchanges reverse trades, as has happened already (hint, Gemini and GDAX).

I don't use corrupted exchanges (ie. licencied exchanges like NY licence).
And we already others actors that they freeze bitcoins, too : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuI-8EwqIS8

What exchange in what jurisdiction doesn't have to go through proper AML/KYC regulations? If they don't have to do that what's stopping them from bending you over and goxxing you so hard you pass out?
793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Japan ends 8% consumption tax on bitcoin Today on: July 06, 2017, 10:30:02 PM

here is another picture then, just to make you more "interesting" Cheesy

this is the Electronics Retailer called Bic that is accepting bitcoin with the banner saying tax free corner!

To be clear, you don't get the tax exemption simply because you are using Bitcoin.  You must be a foreigner and present your passport and they will waive the 8% consumption tax on the goods you purchase.  You can pay with any method they accept (including Bitcoin) and still save the tax.  There is a caveat; you must not open the item or use the item during your stay or you will be required to pay the tax.

Conditions for tax exemption
  • *You must not consume the purchased items in Japan.
  • *You alone are allowed to consume the purchased items.
  • *You must take the purchased items out of Japan when you depart.

How do they enforce this? I don't know.

Most countries will refund any consumption tax or VAT you pay during your stay as a visitor on items you bring home unopened/unused.  This is nothing new.  The fact is that Japan has made it much easier for tourists by allowing them to make their purchases tax-free at the cash register rather than requesting a refund at the airport on their way home.

That's not that bad actually. I mean it's a little strange but hey it's way better than any other country out there so can't complain! When will we have clear rules like this in Canada!? Come on Trudeau!
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Afraid of August One? on: July 06, 2017, 02:56:00 AM
This is very simple thing , you should think that lot of amount of the Bitcoin are hold by the owner of the Bitcoin , so what will happ if the network of the blockchain will face problem , I mean we don't need to worry much about this , and instead of this some preacuation should be taken by us .
1) Before 1 August transfer your all Bitcoin at the blockchain wallet .
2) If you have Bitcoin then transfer only Bitcoin to your address of blockchain also  .
3) don't make transaction like things from any of the Bitcoin wallet .
4) Make backup of your wallet of the blockchain before the 1 August  .
If you will do these things , then I don't think that you need to worry anything ways , because you are in official ways and platform and nothing is problem in the official wallets Wink

If you're saying blockchain.info is some sort of "official wallet" you are sadly mistaken newbie. Maybe do a quick google to see how crappy their security is. I'd trust mt gox more than blockchain.info hahaha. This is hard to understand because your English is so crappy, but the advice is terrible so it's for the best.

Fork = one chain becomes two. You'll already own bitcoins in both. Don't worry about that. The price will go up because bitcoins will be usable for small transactions again. Finally.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I’m thinking about Bitcoin Mining on: July 06, 2017, 02:51:19 AM
This is pretty strange to read in 2017. Did you do any research? Definitely altcoin mining is what you need to look into. You'll melt your GPU for a few pennies in bitcoins. Just don't bother.

Here's a link for some basic knowledge: http://www.coindesk.com/information/how-to-mine-litecoin/
796  Economy / Speculation / Re: price after segwit? on: July 06, 2017, 02:40:06 AM
So segwit will supposedly be activated this Fall right? This should mean blocks are no longer near full, transaction fees go back down to hopefully 10 cents or so, and sending bitcoin will go back to taking tens of minutes instead of hours.

Sending Bitcoin is and will still be instant. However I do agree we need fees like they used to be... We're yet to see if SegWit will provide such.

What will all this do to the price?

If price is the only thing you want to discuss, then it's maybe better to have this on the speculation section I think. Anyways, if what happened on other coins applies to Bitcoin, the price will go down, at least for a few days... Which is great as I'll be able to get cheap coins Smiley

I don't understand why people think confirmations are the same as sending bitcoins. That's just the time it takes to have it confirmed that it's a valid transaction. You can only do that if the transaction already happened! So ya, payments are and always will be instant. Confirmations quicker really make no difference unless you're trying to buy coffee and they have a lot of people double spending on them.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright: "You dont need to hold the blockchain. Its ok if only banks do." on: July 06, 2017, 02:36:19 AM
Someone can't simply create something revolutionary in the financial system as bitcoin (which stands against everything the banking system represents) and still support banks, this simply make no sense to me, the contradiction is definitely there. I wouldn't take a word from Craig Wright seriously. I'm not even sure why and how he is back suddenly.

He tried to create his own Bitcoin bank called Denariuz Bank. The whole point of Satoshi's vision for Bitcoin was to get away from banks, and Craig Wright wanted to create a bank. That's enough to convince me he's not Satoshi.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Steven_Wright

Quote
Wright was the CEO of the technology firm Hotwire Preemptive Intelligence Group (Hotwire PE), which planned to launch Denariuz Bank, the world's first bitcoin-based bank, though it encountered regulatory difficulties with the Australian Tax Office and failed in 2014.

Well duh he's not Satoshi. He's got the opposite vision entirely. Why would you take such giant steps backwards? Craig Wright is the Donald Trump of bitcoins.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens after SegWit2x? on: July 02, 2017, 03:08:46 AM
It's sort of a game of chicken. Many people say that there will be a hard fork but the miners have a lot to lose if they hard fork and people don't go with it. I actually think it's likely that there will be two Bitcoins and that the more decentralized one will win.

there can't be 2 bitcoin fork, there will be always one that will prevail over the other, and other will be considered an altcoin immediately

if segwit2x will not continue with the hard fork of 2mb, then wasn't just better to do the standard segwit? i can't see the point of the 2mb, if none agree to HF

Well that's just not true. One will obviously do better than the other but that doesn't mean the other will necessarily completely fail. It could be like eth classic and eth where one is worth a hell of a lot more than the other, but the other still has some followers for whatever reason.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How could BTC be legitimate ? on: July 02, 2017, 03:02:45 AM
Rather than make a really newbie post about "making a currency out of thin air" why don't you educate yourself first then you'll have your own answer and or opinion?

If you want bitcoin to be legitimate, you should also be prepared to deal with taxes and other fees, because there's already government interference and many others.

Yes and no. A currency can be legitimate but you could avoid taxes. It's not the currency's fault.
800  Economy / Lending / Re: need 2 bitcoin with 0 fees on: July 02, 2017, 03:00:09 AM
What the hell is the point of asking for bitcoins that may take months to confirm? It seems pointless to me. There's something sketchy going on here other than the obvious asking of 2 bitcoins with no collateral.
