801  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 14, 2023, 06:01:05 AM
This thread is sure to be quite long, and it's hard to read through all the replies to find a successful gambler. I suggest that OP creates a poll for us to check who among the posters here believes they have a successful career in gambling.

In reality, there are people who have already achieved success in gambling. The most popular among them are those who excel in poker games, while others are skilled in sports betting. So, the answer is indeed yes. It would be great if someone could share information about a person they know or are knowledgeable about who has succeeded in gambling. This way, we can learn valuable lessons that we can follow to achieve similar success.
802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Subriel Matias vs. S. Ergashev (IBF jr. welterweight title) Nov. 4: Las Vegas on: October 14, 2023, 05:37:10 AM
And being under another great fight in Benavidez vs Andrade, the exposure will really bring them closer to boxing fans.

It's a smart move by the promoters. These fighters aren't very popular, so they might have some difficulty marketing the fight. However, since it's now the undercard of a big event, it's almost guaranteed that this will be the final date, and the promoters won't have to worry about whether people will buy the PPV or attend the venue. In the same division as Matias, there are other champions who are more popular; they could easily set their fight as the main event. This one just doesn't seem like a go-to choice.
803  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know When to Stop. Lesson for Everyone, Particularly Investors on: October 13, 2023, 09:51:11 PM
<Snip>
In other words, think very well before making a decision. There is money involved, so it must be planned carefully. If you make a trading decision but don't have a plan, the probability that you want to happen is very low, especially if you are in a rush. Don't be afraid of not being able to keep up with the market trend if you see that you are late, there are many opportunities in the market so we don't focus our attention in just one thing. "Think before you click."
Whether it’s trading or investing, one should always learn to make a good analysis about the outcome of any decision, if it resort into creating consequences or not. And as long as money is directly involved, any trader or investor should always do the right thing. That is why patience and controlling of emotions are a must. If you fail to follow them, most likely you are trading or investing for a loss, because you do it obviously with greed and high emotions involved.
804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Winning Wisely: Strategies to Protect Your Bankroll on: October 13, 2023, 09:13:03 PM
Act promptly if your emotions start influencing your decisions. Both excessive fear and greed pose significant risks.
The mentioned points can play a good role for a gambler to win if a gambler is able to understand them well. A gambler when gambling naturally forgets these things even though he knows them and that's when disaster strikes. Pursuing loss is a big problem for gamblers. The faster a gambler tries to recover his losses, the faster he will lose all his money. If the gambler can give himself an occasional break from gambling, he can continue to reduce his risk of gambling. Although gambling win or lose depends on luck. However, those who can handle gambling naturally by keeping the above points in mind will reduce the chance of loss. Being overconfident refers positive and negative aspects. The gambler must observe these things well.
Fear and greed can be both present in any gambler, but as long as he knows how to handle them, I don’t think they will create significant risks, except for those newbies who clearly do not understand them well. Losing on the other part will always be part in gambling, as it’s definitely a mixed emotions of profiting and losing. But once you start chasing your previous losses, that’s a sign that you are bound to lose more. If this is happening to you, cut the drama. Don’t gamble at the moment if the emotions is high and uncontrollable. Instead, have a break and just come back to gambling calmly.
805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 13, 2023, 06:30:19 AM
Justin Brownlee failed the Dope test, what does it mean? Are they gonna take the gold medal from us?
It looks like they can’t still move on and still want to pursue this thing. Well, this is a requirement anyway and let’s see what will happen to JB and to the Whole Gilas team, we still have time to contest though and take another sample.
The result can be devastating and the organization can take back the medal and all the rewards, the worst scenario here is Justin Brownlee will be banned for years and that is frustrating for the team Philippines. Let’s hope for the better result of the next sample, let’s hope that this is not final yet. We can’t blame any team from this because it is really mandatory for every athlete.

Hahahah it's mandatory because we win, I don't think they will pursue if the team didn't win the gold. Though we don't have any options as it's a requirement and we needed to follow, we just need to pray and hope that things will favor us, as if the result will not favorable to us then this first ever gold will be taken back.

This is honestly quite disheartening news. It feels like they're trying to pull off a rigged show here. I mean, we worked hard to win the championship, and now they're attempting to take it away from us. They've already left a bitter taste in our mouths with that boxing incident, and now they're trying to do the same in basketball. Suspending a player might be reasonable, but snatching our gold and nullifying the results? That's just unreasonable.
806  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My more than 2 bitcoins got stolen just 2 days ago. on: October 13, 2023, 05:50:11 AM
Sorry to hear about your loss. There's no to recover the amount you lose already, so just chalk it up to experience and use it as a learning opportunity.

From the get-go, it's not a wise move to keep a large sum of money in a single wallet. Two bitcoins already constitute a substantial amount, and personally, I wouldn't even store one bitcoin in a single wallet. Electrum, while a reliable application, has had reported incidents of users losing their funds. However, it's important to note that this isn't the fault of the application itself, but rather the users' responsibility. Being cautious with your holdings is crucial.

My suggestion for the future would be to use multiple wallets. You don't have to memorize them all since that could be challenging, but it's a good strategy to minimize risk and prevent such incidents from happening again. Losing money is never a pleasant experience, especially in the current bullish market sentiment. You might end up regretting losing those 2 bitcoins, which could potentially be valued at $200k when Bitcoin reaches $100k, considering its all-time high (ATH).
807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dangers of trading on: October 12, 2023, 09:57:17 PM
Trading can be a great venture for the unemployed in today's world, but it is very risky for beginners.  But it is not too much risk for those who have experience about trading.  One of the risks is financial loss.  Also many investors invest all their funds to get more profit which is not right at all.  I think those who are new to trading sector should invest small amount.Everyone should get good training and advice from someone experienced on how to reduce risk.
Trading is really a profitable endeavor for those who have build knowledge and experiences with trading. However, for newbies, while trading can be more productive than investing, but it can be more dangerous if you jump into trading without prior knowledge and experience on the trading market. You can lose all your hard-earned money in just a blink of an eye if you trade with closed eyes. But if you invest in yourself with knowledge acquisition and develop your skills and strategies at first, I guess trading will be a lot more successful in the future.
808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t push playing more on: October 12, 2023, 08:51:15 PM
The only good news is this time I remember how this weakness of mine always makes me lose in the past so I stop already gambling and take a break. This is what I’m trying to share here. If you really feel that your gambling doesn’t want to make you move forward by having decent profit and just giving you a hard time then don’t hesitate to quit! Don’t push forward while you are already playing uncomfortably because this will just make you bet recklessly.

Have a break and just gamble newt week or month because a lucky game will make you win easily and not with a very hard to win winning condition.

The best discovery is for one to limits himself or herself after much consideration and calculation to note that he is not making progress than to continuously gambling, if we can be able to control our emotion and greed then it's possible that whenever you gambled and there are no winning for the weekend or for months then the best alternative is to distance oneself for at least another months to have a new fresh mind and thinking to be able to reason well and to have great ideas of how one can be able to position himself to become more productive to win in the next game.
Without greed, it’s easy to limit your exposure in gambling and just take a break when it’s really needed. When you are seeing that your losses have outnumbered your profits, and it’s a big pressure on your part to stay at profits, then probably the best thing to do is to take a break from gambling, and just come back again when you feel better about your losses. However, a gambler with high greed can never easily leave gambling just like that. If it means losing a lot more just to realize that gambling is not fit for him, then so be it just to save him for future huge losses.

810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling vs trading on: October 12, 2023, 04:17:58 AM
In my opinion holding of bitcoin plays an important role in one's economy as compared to trading. In holding you will must win because you will have maximum duration in which you can wait for further booming whereas in trading you will have minimum time in which either you will win or will loss all the amount at once.

I respectfully disagree with that viewpoint. Holding, in my opinion, doesn't contribute to the economy. If we want to see the economy improve, there should be a continuous circulation of funds, in this case, Bitcoin, as that's what would create demand.

In the first place, the primary purpose of creating Bitcoin is to have a decentralized transaction system, free from the watchful eyes of the government, allowing for anonymity. The concern is that if people hold onto Bitcoin, it can make Bitcoin highly volatile. Just imagine if a single person holds 20% of the total supply and decides to sell it all at once, it would undoubtedly create chaos in the market.
811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the Future of Bitcoin without the Inventor? on: October 12, 2023, 03:39:03 AM
You need not be concerned about the potential compromise of the Bitcoin network by hackers. If such an event were likely, it would likely have occurred long ago. Consider this: the identity of Bitcoin's creator, known as "Satoshi," remains undisclosed even today, yet people continue to invest in Bitcoin, leading to a billion-dollar market. Just envision the substantial losses that would result if it were compromised.

It's important to acknowledge that you don't need to be an expert to understand this concept. It's simpler to analyze with basic logic, ensuring greater confidence in your Bitcoin investments.

Our current concern revolves around the growth of adoption, given the potential for market manipulation and government intervention that threatens Bitcoin's original intended anonymity for users. These factors can affect its functionality to some extent, leaving us uncertain about its true nature.
812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The fear of investment on: October 09, 2023, 07:00:37 PM
This is no longer surprising as Bitcoin was perceived to be a big scam especially for those people who don't even know bitcoin. The fact that the government sees it as a threat to the financial system then we can blame the people if their perception about bitcoin creates a negative impact. That is the reason why people need to be fully educated about bitcoin and it could only be done if these type of people will be exposed about the bitcointalk forum.
813  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in Bitcoin and never invest in shitcoin on: October 09, 2023, 03:08:49 PM
You can never control the minds of other investors but you can always educate them about the risks investing in shitcoins. And even if they know already that shitcoins could be a threat to their investments, I don’t think they won’t be investing in shitcoins forever since there might come a time that shitcoins will be more profitable than bitcoin. So if I were you, do not underestimate the potentials of shitcoins. They can be highly risky but they can also give us huge returns when we least expect it. For me, experience would still be the best teacher. Let them explore and invest in shitcoins, their experience will tell it all.
814  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on your own vs social trading and copy trading on: October 09, 2023, 01:48:19 PM
people have different styles of trading. I use all of them because I'm a beginner, meaning I'm not very good at my own predictions. Sometimes I need a trading expert or like a channel that gives signals. It's not wrong to use it, everything is good as long as it doesn't harm you. I think I prefer to use my own predictions in certain cases, as well as copy trading.
It’s not actually wrong to listen from professional traders about their own trading signals that bring them profits, but always do your own analysis before you consider copying it. Trading signals can always have a different effect on each trader, probably it can work for others but not for you. That is the reason why we need to learn trading on our own, and learn from other traders as well. Trading can be more successful if we inculcate our own trading analysis, by also not taking for granted those trading signals that we have learned from successful traders.
815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 09, 2023, 09:28:08 AM
The Warriors went and played a team in prison… Cool idea. Hats off to them for doing it. The best part… They lost.

https://x.com/thedunkcentral/status/1711053895332466872

I had never seen this one coming and I think they are the first to do this, giving hope to those people who once made life-changing mistakes on their lives is great, and giving them some hope that they can still be helpful and recognized as people who contribute positivity to their nation if they wanted to change their lives for good. Obviously, they were just casually playing against those inmates and didn't take their time to chase the score, which made them even greater because that was part of the plan to give inmates some hope and dreams.

That's the human spirit there—they aren't afraid to play even in prison. Maybe that prison's being run well, and the people there are behaving themselves. After all, they're still humans, right? But you never really know what could happen, so this move is pretty risky yet admirable.

Those guys in jail will pay a respect to the team who show some good deeds to them since its very rare occasion that a team on NBA would come to them and play for sure they will be overwhelmed with that events since they would provably think about that they still notice by these guys. Saw this clip online Golden State Warriors play basketball in prison

I also didn't imagine a high profile team would agree to play in high risk place but they are there happily playing with them and all of them is so happy with the result of the game. For prisoners who participated the game for sure they won't forget this experience since this event is so rare to happen and GSW is showing some humanity to these people and spread love thru the game of basketball.

This wouldn't have been possible if security wasn't guaranteed. These people are NBA players, so they're quite well-known. I must say, it's a commendable initiative by the Golden State Warriors. They're spreading some positivity in a place where people are often despised due to their crimes.

At the end of the day, we're all human, and everyone deserves a second chance and the opportunity to enjoy life, even while serving time. This experience is bound to be unforgettable for the people in jail.
816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which games offer the best chance of a big win? on: October 08, 2023, 09:37:50 PM
It’s rare to see big wins from gambling, except for those big whales  who bet huge amount and then win or lose after a huge amount as well. Even in slots that most of us believe that it could offer us big winnings, but in reality most of those who play slots are only losing their money, except for those who are too lucky not to lose. However, when it comes to crypto or table games, still they are luck based and skill based games too, so if you’ve gained more knowledge and skills on the games, most likely you will win as long as you also have the luck to make you win. Otherwise, relying on skills alone won’t make you a winner from gambling.
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging Newbies from Bitcoin... on: October 08, 2023, 08:50:16 PM
Newbies are not actually discouraged to start trading but trading without sufficient knowledge and less experiences  will only lead to frequent losses than gains. That is the reason why instead of newbies jumping into trading that is clearly for quick profits, why not if they start long term hodling at first that has less risk than trading, and when they can manage already their investments well and can bring decent amount of profits, then they can start trading as well using their capital that they can afford to lose. That way, at least they can minimize from acquiring losses and can have more chances to succeed rather than end up losing on one side.
818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hal Finney: each coin a value of about $10 million prophecy on: October 08, 2023, 05:32:11 AM
I'm getting that bull run feeling too, especially when I see posts like these – they really amp things up. I mean, who am I to call it unrealistic? Let's roll with that prophecy, mate – $10 million for 1 BTC, that's bonkers! I might just start beefing up my investment, which has been chillin' for a while. And yeah, maybe I'll ease off on the gambling for a bit to avoid constantly chipping away at it.
819  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 08, 2023, 05:08:35 AM
Now, as for the betting odds, I'm also curious. I think they should be around 1.10 or even lower because this lineup seems unbeatable.

It's been out for a while now, and with this lineup, the USA is the clear favorite to win, like a heavy favorite. But it's not as low as 1.10; the projected odds are -250, which is equivalent to 1.4 in decimal odds. If you want to check out the odds for the other teams, you can go ahead and visit the link below.

https://www.covers.com/basketball/olympic-mens-basketball-odds

Quote
Country   Odds
USA USA   -250
Serbia Serbia   +400
Canada Canada   +500
France France   +700
Germany Germany   +800
Australia Australia   +1,200
Spain Spain   +1,400
Slovenia Slovenia   +2,000

With that possible lineup, this odd might be a good catch for those early bettors, though we don't know if this will be finalized
or there are still negotiations and changes in terms of availability of those stars that mentioned.

Though for sure, there are already gamblers who took this one and already place their future bet for this possible Olympic gold medalist.

If there are any changes, I don't expect them to be that significant. I mean, with a bunch of superstars on Team USA, you probably won't even notice. Those guys are all in, and it's a different ballgame this time. They're on a mission, you know? After that embarrassment at the FIBA World Cup, they're itching for redemption in the Olympics. They want to remind the world that Team USA is still the cream of the crop in the basketball business.

Quote
Let's wait and see if what will be the final lineup, if all those mentioned names will be available and if they will commit to play for team U.S

Like I mentioned, it won't really shake up the odds. Team USA is still gonna sit tight as the big favorite.
820  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You Ever Made Such Mistake Before, But Won still? on: October 07, 2023, 09:45:29 PM
A lot of times I made mistakes in betting, but most of them turned into losses, and only few made it to success. Now I’m more cautious in dealing with my bets. I don’t want to bet and make some errors on the amount that I supposed to bet because I know it will only lead to another mistake. And as much as possible, when I bet, that comes from a good analysis of mine and even from my instincts since we can’t avoid at some point not to believe in our instincts and just regret later on.
