There are some reports coming out that the Netherlands are playing ODI warm up matches against Karnataka.

Karnataka literally humbled them or some might say humiliated them. At one time Dutch team scorecard was 3/7, all top 7 batters scored 0 ( 3 extras were the high scorer), followed by 39/9. Then their tail wagged before getting bowled out for 123. Karnataka won by 142 runs. Wish there was some highlight to watch.

I believe hosting some part of T-20 WC in the USA will give some reality check to ICC and broadcasters. ATM they are planning to host the biggest premier match of Ind vs Pak there.

Pro - It'll be a superhit in terms of gate money.

Cons - The Timezone is not suitable for the Indian prime time slot unless they start a match in the morning like 8-10 am. Also, the Stadium is in work in progress.

Still more than a week left and few reports did suggest that he's recovering quite well so there might be some possibility. We might get our answers when we get into warm up fixtures.

IDK, they were hardly fielding their first choice team in ODI bilateral (Everyone was doing this) so you never know and like i said many times these guys always punch above their weights so there is a possibility of some surprise.

Well.. I agree that they punch above their weight at times. But at the same time, historically New Zealand hasn't performed well in Indian conditions, unlike the case with England or Australia. They have a very weak spin bowling lineup, and this is going to be a big minus for them going forward. On top of that I am not sure how their batsmen will handle the South Asian spinners in the turning pitches of India. But again, New Zealand is a team that is capable of shocking the favorites (in case they can get adjusted to the pitch conditions).
That's one part of the argument but at the same time, their bowlers both spinners and seamers are doing an alright job on rank turners in Bangladesh and that too with the second string team.

Lot of outcome will depend on the WC pitches, overall spin does come into play in India during middle phase of the inning but Pitches in India are diverse. You have bouncy-fast paced pitches in Wankede/Dharmshala, you also have an absolute road in Mohali/Indore, slow pitch in Delhi, spin heaven in Chepuk and mix bag in Kolkatta so there is something for everyone.

Kiwis might surprise as they are dark horses and always punch above their weight.

Proteas batting order is looking threatening to me this time and if their bowling clicks at the right time then they could wonder as well, although one of their primer bowler is ruled out due to injury.

You never know what Pakistan can do, one day they will look Prime Pakistani team and they also have a strange capability of becoming a club level cricket team so highly unpredictable.

I am not sure whether Kane Williamson has fully recovered from injury. He has been included in their squad, but has been out of action for quite some time. And their bowlers are out of form since 2021 or so, and only Trent Boult has shown any consistency in performance. Others like Ferguson and Jamieson have been getting hammered by the opponent batsmen in recent matches. On top of all this, they don't have a quality spinner. Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are included in the squad, but these two are not exactly world class.

No doubt ,India is most strongest team whole the World but luck is very important to Win World Cup Final.India played excellent.Shubman Gill and Iyer made centuries for their teams.Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh  are top performer of Australia .When they will be fit, this team will give tough to India in World Cup.India showed thay without big players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ,India can win match easily against Australia.

World cup is a total different story. Usually teams that are not favorite mostly win the world cup. India, Australia and England are favorite for this world cup, they have strong ODI squad and are performing well in ODI games. With rise in T20 cricket, not many teams are focusing on test and ODI games. West Indies, Newzealand, South Africa and Pakistan don't have strong ODI teams this time.

The low scoring could've been a pressure for India Women team, but Titas Sadhu gave the relaxation taking three important wickets. The young girl Titas Sadhu had her debut against Bangladesh Women and it is her second match. Being the game changer in the very second match and being a reason to win gold medal is a big achievement. Sri Lanka Women team is short of 19 runs, maybe if the early partnership weren't broken match might've gone in favour of Sri Lanka Women.

Titas Sadhu had figures of 4-1-6-3 with her right arm medium pace. She is just 18 years old, and made her debut for Bengal women very recently. She was a part of the Indian squad for the 2023 ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup. She was one of the star players for India at the final match, where she opened the bowling and returned similar figures of 4-0-6-2 (against England women). Plays for Delhi Capitals Women, but I guess she is yet to make her debut for them in the Women's Premier League.
Bowling figures were amazing so props to Titas Sadhu and India but keep in mind that Pingfeng Campus pitch hosted around 11-ish matches for this tournament and a handful of innings (only 5 times) crossed 100 runs marks on the scoreboard.

This should clear the air in regard to pitches. Batters had virtually no chance, not complaining but it does play a part in an overall context.

This is why I think India is the most favorite team for this year's world cup. But the main problem of Indian batsmen is that their performance is somewhat erratic . We have seen India lose badly against Bangladesh. But I think the team will not make such a mistake in the world cup . And this is the team we will see in the final of the World Cup...
You guys need to temper your expectations frankly speaking because India usually performs really well in certain matches and underperform badly in critical matches(Eg: Recent WTC final against Australia).

They are number one across all formats which is insane indeed, but high rankings don't always translate to big tournament wins.
True! When you become a favorite for any big event, there is a possibility of being complacent or like Indian management says " 30 minutes of bad cricket" Don't want to hear these words again.

Let's hope no left arm fast bowler takes us by surprise, if it happens then we are practically 3 down in powerplay lol. In the last 5-6 years it happened in literally every crucial match and we never recovered.
828  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 24, 2023, 04:04:44 PM
Blood, just blood everywhere and I reckon we'll see a similar slaughter in the second inning.

No one should expect less when the pitch is flat and boundaries are not that big. Indian bowlers might demand a raise and praise if they can avoid similar treatment, if not then it's alright as bowlers are 3 class citizens and labours in the cricket world anyway lmao.  Grin Grin
Lol. This is what I was thinking. I actually felt sad for the Australian bowlers who were decimated in every manner possible. I literally squealed when Sky took Green to the cleaners by smashing 4 sixes consecutively.

Krishna is on a roll at the moment though and it looks like this match is pretty much India's at this point. Indian selectors are sweating vigorously.
Bummer that there were no fireworks in the second inning. I was literally praying for another slaughter but i guess they crumbled due to scoreboard pressure.

It wasn't an easy pitch for any bowler so kudos to Krishna and Chadwin for making inroads on the flat deck. Especially Ash Anna, he was amazing and loved it when he outfoxed Labuschagne with a carrom ball.

Another example of Batriarchy domination over Bowlsheviks.  Grin

The way Indians are going today, a mammoth total is definitely on the cards. Australia would be very lucky if they could restrict India under 350. If by any chance India gets out under 300 then shame on them as this pitch looks like a belter. Aussie batter will enjoy their batting as well.

Sreesanth?

Zaheer Khan was the highest wicket taker in the 2011 WC for India, followed by Yuvraj. Sreesanth came in 3rd and he was wicketless in the finals, also didn't even play in the semis.

It was Yuvraj's brilliance with the bat and ball. Zaheer as a strike bowler, Gambhir with his crucial match-winning innings and finishing touch of Dhoni.

Yeah.. just checked the scorecard and realized that he didn't played in QF and SF matches. I might have got confused with some other tournament. The pace attack for 2011 tournament was led by Zaheer Khan, with Ashish Nehra and Munaf Patel backing him up. These bowlers were quite efficient and Sreesanth got a chance only when one of them got injured. BTW, this was perhaps the only major ICC tournament where three of Australia's fastest bowlers bowled together - Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson.
Happens sometimes, at least you didn't say that it was only Dhoni, who was solely responsible for winning the WC for India lol

We are living in an era of franchise rivalry. Dhoni vs Gambhir vs Kohli vs Rohit and so on. Tbh, it's a very toxic environment in social media due to the PR ecosystem and that's why these sorts of comparisons dominate the narratives.
832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: September 24, 2023, 04:04:04 AM
Spoiler alert, Virat Kohli was a team member and played in the finals of 2011 ODI World Cup final when India won the entire tournament. There is no debate about the consistency of Virat Kohli in any format, the only issue i have with him is not winning the IPL playing for Bangalore even with one of the best players they have in their side. If you really think Kohli is 90% mind games who are the players you think are better than him during his generation.

I was saying that Kohli didn't contributed much to India winning the world cup in 2011. It was Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sreesanth who gave the world cup to India after such a big gap. No matter how much Kohli and his proxies like Hardik and Rohit tried during their respective captaincies, they could never achieve what Dhoni achieved. Anyway, now these two (Virat and Rohit) are approaching their retirement age. it is now or never. 2023 ODI World Cup probably represents the last opportunity for them to win a major ICC trophy.

PS : Only Test ranking matters in cricket. T-20/ODI rankings are jokes.

ODI & T20 rankings are still important as they reflect a team's performance. I admit that I am not that great at judging the reason for your reply, what I understand is simple, playing nation in test format is saturated. When you check the number of teams in those formats it is big, and it will become bigger in the T20 format considering the popularity of this format. Only hardcore cricket fans like yourself would be enjoying test cricket while the world gets crazy about T20.

I would say that the Indian team has gained a major psychological advancement before the World Cup. Cricket has been a game of mind and skills, you cannot deny how it affects the mind of an Indian fan when India plays against Pakistan. Some of what same mind influence happens when players play against each other, one of the best examples is Kohli and how he has been playing this mind game so effectively.
Pakistan, Australia and South Africa stand at 2,3,4 positions respectively.

If these guys organize 3 back to back series with the likes of Zimbabwe, Ireland or Netherlands then they will top the ODI ranking and if they manage to clean sweep then potentially remain at the top for at least 1 year.

My overall point is a strong test nations like Ind +Eng +Aus hardly field their strong whiteball team against every team. They always try their bench strength (you can notice this even in the current series), and you can add Kiwis as well in this mix.

In contrast, teams like Pakistan + Sri Lanka +Bangladesh always go with their full strength team, unless there is some injury issue. For ex: Pakistan faced literally second string teams from Aus, NZ in the last year or so and add some WI + Netherlands +Afghanistan bilateral series, result? They were the number 1 team for a week or so.

My question is to both of you, assuming that India did kill those guys and the named one on Canadian soil. Why cannot India openly admit that they were killed by Indian agents? If America can do and Israel can do why not we? If India does admit then what will be the repercussions?

We know that the West cannot ignore India anymore as they need India against China. Then they do need the growing Indian market which has a big potential for economic benefits. The amount of investment happening in India has led India to become the 5th largest economy. While Canada sits in the 9th position, the West can ignore Canada whereas they cannot ignore India. This is my reasoning for India to accept if it has used its agents to do those tasks in Canada.

Why we are not accepting it?

We are big but not big enough in terms of economic or military power, even diplomatically and definitely not strong when up against a Western block. Canada is weak only if we look at it bilaterally but not when we club them with the big western block. I mean just look at all the major institutions, everything comes under the Western powers. Yes, we are making inroads but it's a recent development and we have a long way to go so denying the accusation is practical, unless it's proven otherwise.

RAW comes directly under PMO, which basically means if the former is caught, in result the latter party will get $ucked royally (not domestically but internationally). Blowback can be drastic like facing sanctions or start acting like a vassal state against China/Russia because you know, we are beastly people with a beastly religion and were supposed to follow the white master.

Or maybe we are really innocent lol.

835  Local / India / Re: India or Bharat on: September 23, 2023, 09:39:02 AM

To save themselves from this embarrassment the Canadian media came out with a new theory.
Quote
Indian diplomats in Canada were surveilled for intelligence, leading to allegations made by Justin Trudeau about India’s involvement in the killing of a Sikh terrorist, a Canadian official familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Thursday
source

This Canadian government has not officially supported this news. If they spied on diplomat then they have broken a UN treaty. This will led to serious back lash from the Indian government and completely dent the diplomatic relationship between both the countries.

The problem with Canada now is that they never expected such an offensive from India. They expected that India would would keep quite in this matter like it use to do before 2014. India has nothing to lose as Canada needs Indian economically than India needs them. The latest setback for Canada was when India announced Biden as the the guest for Republic day.
CBC broke this story and it's basically the mouthpiece of the Canadian government-funded news outlet (69% gov funded lol hinting at Funny incident)  so it's obviously leaked by gov.

Everyone spies on each other, including friends (We also do this) but no one speaks about it publicly because it has severe repercussions, hence the leak via media and there is no doubt that this -alleged- intel (if there is any) came from the five eyes, basically the USA but I won't count the UK as well. Don't look at this gameplay as some economic POV only, it's just one of the many factors.

Trudeau digging a hole and so far no one is willing to pull him up but again Canada is the USA's neighbor and founder of the Anglosphere intelligence alliance (Five Eyes) so you never know. If there is any intel (which is a possibility) then USA has to make a decision if they want to release the tapes etc or not and more importantly at what cost? If they do release it then it will backfire on India-USA relations and it is not good for Indo-Pacific strategy. Both the parties Delhi and DC, mainly the latter party invested heavily in this relationship due to new geo-political realities.

836  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: September 23, 2023, 07:38:18 AM
I think NZ ans SA have given up hopes of winning WC. They always come well prepared for the WC but always lose at the end. This is the first time no one is declaring NZ and SA favorite for the world cup. Pakistan with there recent performance are not favorites but they have the capability of giving surprises.
Why would you say that Proteas are not a favorite? They just beaten Australia in 5 match series, despite being 2 down. Their middle order is in some form and the opposition bowlers should be afraid of it, they are also very familiar with the Indian condition (Well, in white ball actually it's true for every SENA team).

Kiwis are dark horses as usual, no hype but they are a big tournament team.

As per the ICC Men's team ranking, India has become the number 1 team in all cricket format. Earlier they were ranking 2nd in ODI

Only the second team to achieve this feat, which is nice but might change in the next 2 matches because Aussies are fierce opponents.

PS : Only Test ranking matters in cricket. T-20/ODI rankings are jokes.
837  Local / India / Re: India or Bharat on: September 23, 2023, 07:24:45 AM
True but to be fair to India. Justin Trudeau started this diplomatic mess and now India is going on the offensive with this visa ban move. I also think Canada might not follow the same route because of various reasons. One of em is that Indian students make up for like 40% of international students in Canada and contribute about $7-9 billion per year.

The revenue generated by Indian students is big and I have heard that the fee structure for them is on the higher side than the locals. Trudeau made a mess of diplomatic relations by bringing in his personal ego after his humiliation at the G20 summit. Imagine if Canada were to ban visa applications, many students would apply for higher education in the US. Already Mahindra and Essar Steel have withdrawn from upcoming projects in Canada others might follow.  If the opposition party comes to power in the next Canadian election, then relations with India may become normal. As of now, Canada has not withdrawn its pension fund from the Indian stock market, if it does then companies like Paytm, and Kotak Bank will get hammered.

The way it's progressing it looks like a test match so we are up for some long haul unless Uncle Sam does his thing behind the door.

I don't think tension would go away easily even if conservatives came into power because India will surely demand a crackdown on Khalistan and this isn't straightforward through the Canadian system. Overall this incident is very educational for Western audiences (minus gov) as far as Khalistan terrorism is concerned.

Aha Hassan is back eh, nice..

Tbh now batting order looking bit stable to me.
Yeah. It does look stable, but their bowling lineup is pretty much perfect if you ask me. Siraj, Bumrah, Shami, Ashwin/Hardik and Jadeja/Axar together form one of the best Indian bowling lineups hands down.
I won't count Ashwin and Axar just yet because the former is playing ODI after a long break, although he's a champion bowler but let's be honest it's a white ball cricket. The latter got injured and lately off color with the ball.

Also not sure if India would go regularly with 4 frontline bowlers (Shami+Bumrah+Siraj+Kuldeep) because of the new mindset of "batting depth". In modern cricket, you don't want 4 proper tailenders in your playing XI.

Today it was a close match between the two teams.
In what sense?  Tongue

At one point run chase was looking straightforward task and Indian openers were going exceptionally well but after the first wicket partnership, it went in a different direction because of a mini collapse.

Still, plenty of batting left and the remaining target is moderate so it shouldn't be that tight contest but you never know, if Rahul thinking of taking this deep. Hope SKY goes into a bit of T-20 mode and scores some quick runs.
Yeah. Gaikwad and Gill were phenomenal together and they could prove to be a great opening pair more often in the future. Iyer's bad run continues while Rahul and Sky are doing well at the moment.

India pretty much won this match at this point since they still have Jadeja and Ashwin while the Australian bowling(Excluding Zampa and Cummins) has been average at best.
Tbh now batting order looking bit stable to me.

Openers Gill and Rohit are in good nick, Virat seems to be back in form, KL was always good in no 4-no 5 in ODI (only confidence was the issue because of fall out from the test and t-20 team).

For number 5 they have to test Iyer more because recent form matters. He's a good bat in this position but fitness is a big issue with him. His potential replacement Kishan is doing a fairly good job. Hardik is solid at number 6. Jadeja is looking rusty for number 7 but he's a prize all rounder. SKY selection would be based on gamble IMO, if Iyer or Kishan fails.

WTF guys? since when did you guys start calling Suriya Kumar as SKY?  Cheesy Cheesy
Surya Kumar Yadav =SKY  Grin
