861  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] Even the official links aren't safe anymore. on: September 26, 2023, 10:53:08 PM
This is the handiwork of hackers. Cointelegraph reported that Huobi exchange have been hacked. According to the report, $7.9 million worth of assets have been stolen. This is another proof that centralized exchanges are not safe for storage of funds. Several posts have been made to show the danger of storing funds in CEX and I guess people are learning and making adjustments accordingly.

Let's hope they are able to arrest the situation before it get out of hand.
It has been, and it will never will be a safe storage of our assets.
With the number of hacks happened not only with Huobi, but in all of the Centralized exchanges, and even DEX'es combined, do you still think that it's still safe to store our assets there? Unfortunately, there are many investors, especially newbies who don't learn from this one, and still store their assets there maybe because they're giving free tokens just by storing your assets there. Like staking, but on an exchange.

Arrest? Remember Axie Infinity where they got hacked, and lost around $600M. Correct me, but the perpetrators on that hack didn't get arrested. What are the chances that the hackers who hacked Huobi will get arrested? 0% unless they will say it in public that they hacked the exchange, but that would be an absolute bullsh*t.

As for the investors who are still trying to store their assets in an exchange, you will only learn once you lost your money because the exchanged got hacked. Don't store your assets there. Giving you a certain percentage in exchange of storing your assets there isn't enough to cover your losses if they got hacked.
862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with spam and scam tokens on my wallet? on: September 26, 2023, 03:29:49 PM
This is called address poisoning according to Faisal2202. It is method used by scammers to probably monitor the address and it is hard to stop this kind of attack because you can not stop people from sending you coins or tokens. If you are uncomfortable then a change of address is needed.

Here is also a thread by Pmalek you can read through get some measures on attacks like this
I'm already a Hero Member (going Legendary), but now I can say that "ranks don't matter when it comes to knowledge" because I don't know that term "address poisoning". If only I didn't read this post, I won't know what would be the main reason behind these scam tokens being distributed. Thanks for sharing this, and the links.

So in short, they're just sending tokens just to monitor the address? If that's the case then it isn't harmful then as long as you will not give money, and personal information to them, and not download anything suspicious online? Like what @EL MOHA said, there's nothing that you can do with that OP because you can't control the scammers to send you tokens.

Change of address is the best solution with this one if you find it annoying, but I guess just ignore it would be an another option as well.
863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the future of Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2023, 02:36:02 PM
All the countries are going through a hard time by the fall of covid-19.
It's been 3 years since the pandemic started, and right now, we are returning back to normal already... or I think some called it the "new normal". Anyway, countries are recovering already though I might agree that the effect of the pandemic can still be felt thru increasing prices of goods, increased interest rates etc.

Also, a big token like bitcoin is tumbling in the market at a low position.
I can call Bitcoin as a currency, and at the same time as an asset, but I will never call it as a token.

It started to rise a little from the bottom for several days. It also stopped again. What do the researchers think in such a situation? Let's hope for the opinion. .
What do researchers think? The question is, are they thinking?
I mean I don't know what do you mean when you're asking what the researchers are thinking with what's currently happening with Bitcoin.

Future of Bitcoin?
Bright as the brightest star in the whole observable universe I guess? I might be wrong though, and it's brightness might turn out to be darkness... as dark as the biggest black hole in the universe. Kidding aside, I'm not a maximalist, but I believe that Bitcoin will be more popular as years pass by. At the same time, more and more establishments will try and accept Bitcoin.
864  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Life lesson]Nothing is really free on: September 26, 2023, 02:42:26 AM
It took me quite a long time to understand that nothing is really free, to the least you will be giving away your time. If you don't find whatever you do worthy of your time, don't do it.
Time is money. This is the one thing that's always on my mind. Whenever I wake up in the morning, I always think of the things that I must do on that day, and will make me productive if I do that thing/s. For example, if I work on that day, that makes me productive.

There's no such thing as free money in this world. If only there is, we might not see poor people anymore. We aren't living in a Utopia, but we are living in a cruel world where you need something to get something in return.

Ppc, faucets and such are waste of time to earn money. If you put the same amount of time in learning some valuable skill you will earn better.
Maybe it's time to add bounty campaigns in the list, eh?

I mean for me, it's a waste of time joining into bounty campaigns already. I'm pertaining to those bounty campaigns that're paying the participants with their own native tokens. You will advertise the project, and in return you will be paid a few bucks... ohhh wait if you're lucky, you will be paid. Some if not most of the bounty campaigns aren't paying the participants, and if they are being paid, sometimes that token doesn't have any value at all. Quite unfortunate TBH.
865  Economy / Economics / Re: How to reduce the price of goods on: September 26, 2023, 02:05:28 AM
I have been thinking and trying to analyze what is really causing the high cost of food in Nigeria, I came to realize that monopoly is the major factors, Nigeria government are the enablers. How can one person be the sole major distributor, government should welcome competition in the business sector, every business person should be allowed to produce.
Well, government is involved so... yeah there's nothing that you can do with that I guess.
After all, you are being given a power to vote for your president, and yet you are still voting the wrong one... or I guess it's safe to say that there's no correct one in the list.

Monopoly, followed by lack of resources, and of course inflation. I guess these are the reasons why prices of not only goods, but everything is increasing. Government don't want competition because that might affect their profit. If there's another competitor on a business that they're supporting with, unfortunately they will try to do everything just to shut it down. After all, they have the power to do it since they're the authority.

This shit right here just really gets under my skin. You got caught, made a topic acting like you made an innocent mistake, and like usual the members of this forum found out you are a liar!!!

Why is it so hard for someone to have an original thought of their own? What makes your life so damn hard that you have to come to our community and try to cheat us and feel like its ok? I really hope the admins keep you banned. And just so you cannot claim later that you didn't know, banned means you as a person are banned. You cannot create new accounts and still participate. You are no longer welcome in this community.
Stay calm. Smiley Your blood might rise because of this one. Please. Don't stress yourself too much on this newbie.

Anyway, how in the hell is this newbie asking for a second chance where in fact, he's been caught plagiarizing!!!!!. If only I can send a voice message here, I will do it, so he can feel the anger that I'm feeling right now!!! Cheesy In order for you to get merits, you need to plagiarize? Try posting a religious quote OP, or maybe say things related to religion. That might help you.. help you not to get unbanned. Just kidding, but I hope OP is still ok. Find another forum OP, or maybe go to altcointalk.

I am pleading that the moderators should look into my account and see that i have been organic and have made good contributions to the forum.
Since most of the users who are banned because of plagiarism are newbies, or Jr. Members, I wonder if there's a case here where a user who has been a good contributor in this forum got caught plagiarizing, and yet got unbanned? Please enlighten me. Thanks. Smiley
867  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 26, 2023, 12:56:11 AM
~
Maybe I'm stressing out too much because I'm yet to find proper housing to establish myself again after being away for over a year in the military. I'm generally an anxious person myself, but does anyone else feel the same, and how do you deal with it? How do you stay optimistic?
Don't you have emergency funds to start with OP? Many have already said that we need emergency funds so that we are prepared at least if things like this happens.

I don't know which country are you living OP, but living in the province really helps as to living in a city. Expenses are way lower. If your concern is food, you can just plant crops that will give you fruits, and vegetable after few weeks or months. As for proper housing, don't you have any relatives where you can try, and live there temporarily while you are finding a proper house where you can live with.

As for what you're feeling right now compare to what I felt when COVID19 started until now, I didn't felt any financial stress TBH. Not bragging, but ever since, I already have emergency funds where I can get some money if things get worse like what happened. I'm also living in a province where food isn't that expensive to buy because we have vegetables in our backyard. As for housing, we are living in a family house currently. I just hope that you OP will stay optimistic when hardship comes like the pandemic.

Always take note that there's no problem that can't be solved. All problems have solution. Always find a way. If you need to change something like your lifestyle, do it. If you need to do something that you aren't doing in the past, but you need to do to survive, do it. If you need to plant just to lessen your expenses in food, do it. If you need to transfer to another area just to lessen your expenses, do it. If you need to find another job that's outside of your profession, do it. I know it's easy for me to say this, but I also did felt the same back when there isn't any COVID19 yet, but to cut the story, I solved it.
868  Economy / Economics / Re: The Kids buying Mcdonald order via BTC on: September 25, 2023, 11:30:53 PM
I expect more of this in the future.

As Bitcoin grows in popularity, kids will be more aware that a thing called Bitcoin is existing therefore, they might try to learn it, and use it to pay some things like in this one where the kid, and I think his sister are using Bitcoins to pay their bills in McDonalds. It's good to see this, but I don't want the establishment itself because you can laugh at me on this one, but I'm afraid of their mascot, the clown thing-y.  Grin Grin

So it happened in El Salvador then. I guess it's unsurprising knowing how the country embraced the currency. Anyway, I wonder if the McDonalds establishments outside El Salvador will do the same though.

Hopefully that kid's screen time is kept in check by his parent(s).  Too many people, young and older, are glued to their smartphones 24/7.  End of aging hermit rant.
I've seen many kids here that're already glued to their smartphones. So bad that they're spending more time with their smartphones than with their family. They're spending more time with their smartphones than making themselves healthier thru exercising. Smartphones is changing the world... ohhh wait they've done it already which is unfortunate if you will ask me. Sad
869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 25, 2023, 11:14:07 PM
Are you guys excited?

10 more days and the pre-season will start. October 5.
Dallas Mavericks will play against Minnesota Timberwolves in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Then on October 10, the Dallas Mavericks will fly to Madrid, Spain to play against the EuroLeague champions Real Madrid.

During the season, there will be 2 more games that will be played in different places and that is the Atlanta Hawks versus Orlando Magic, on November 9 in Mexico City, Mexico, and the Brooklyn Nets versus Cleveland Cavaliers, on January 11 in Paris, France.
I'm more excited about the drama around James Harden, and Damian Lillard than these games. Tongue
Kidding aside, it's always good to see the NBA being back again. For sure fans are happy, bettors are happy, GM's are happy, and of course the players are happy as well because they're back into business again as usual. Anyway, I hope that the fans who will be able to watch these NBA teams playing in their country will be happy as well.

Season openers are kind of intriguing.
LA Lakers versus Denver Nuggets - teams who played the Western Conference Finals
Golden State Warriors versus Phoenix Suns - CP3 meeting his former team and so is KD meeting his champion buddies. Do you think it will get physical?  Grin We know Booker has some heat against Klay Thompson and Steph Curry and now they are teammates with his former partner.
Nothing intriguing, and nothing surprising with these games TBH since it has been announced. You know what I'm feeling right now? I'm happy. Cheesy

Happy not because of the Lakers-Nuggets match-up, but the Suns-Warriors match-up. TBH, I don't see any beef behind KD, and the rest of the Warriors unlike his beef with Russ when he went to the Warriors. I think everything is good between them since we didn't hear any trash talks whatsoever between the 2.

It's not KD, but it's Book, and Klay that has a beef with each other. Well, I will not be surprised if Klay will do that 1-2-3-4 count again on his finger saying that he got 4 titles while Book has none. Cheesy Bragging rights, eh. Cheesy As for KD, and Steph, I think they're in good terms, but correct me still. I expect a high scoring game on this one considering that both these 2 teams have the best shooters the league has right now.
870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet? on: September 25, 2023, 10:43:47 PM
~
Just recently, I was tempted to check my first ever Bitcoin wallet to see what I have done in the past. I was so depressed seeing the volume of Bitcoin that have passed through my wallet without me saving a reasonable portion of it.

I have the feeling that many forum users too have similar experience; do kindly share just maybe I can feel a little better knowing that I'm not a lone.

In the past 3 years or more, I've always been spending the Bitcoins that I get from signature campaigns. Just imagine that, I've been paid weekly thru Bitcoins, but most of them are being converted to our currency, and being used to pay bills, or buy something.

What's considered "a reasonable portion" for you? How much is that? You might have 1 Bitcoin, but you can't consider it as reasonable. On the other hand, you can have 0.01 BTC, and can be considered reasonable. I mean what's important is that, you are keeping a portion of Bitcoins that you are getting. Like what I've said, I've been spending the Bitcoins that I'm getting in signature campaigns for the past 3 years or even more, but the good thing is that, I always keep a week of the Bitcoins that I'm getting, and holding it.

Quote
Re: How do you feel when you look at your first Bitcoin wallet?
None.

Call me emotionless or whatever, but I don't feel anything at all. Sometimes I had this feeling where I want to add more Bitcoins into that wallet, but aside from that, nothing at all.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I can't keep up with the High gas fees on: September 25, 2023, 10:28:58 PM
IDK why, each time I see this type of post. I'm to worried @OP will answer by shilling his product Grin
I thought I'm the only one who has traumatized already by these newbies (or sometimes Jr. Members) who are asking questions blah blah, then at the middle of the thread, he will share a product that's considered new. A new way of shilling their products.  Cheesy Cheesy

Anyway, as for the gas fees, right now I don't see any problem. Bitcoin's current transaction fee is less than a dollar, and same goes with Ethereum. I just don't know what OP is saying. If I remember correctly, there is an increase in gas fees whenever we are in a bull run because many people are willing to pay higher fees just to sell their holdings, but with a normal day like today, gas fees aren't that high, and considered considerable if you ask me.

Can I ask you OP what coin are you pertaining with?
872  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 24, 2023, 06:10:44 PM
Nobody could force Portland to make that trade if they do not want to, Dame was the one who accepted such a huge salary that he deserved but also a very long one. He is signed until 2026 or so I think, which means that when he was signing that deal, he knew that he would not be able to leave, and he had to accept it as a fact that Portland may not trade him at all.
Kawhi Leonard, Ben Simmons, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving.

They're just a few players who have contract, but they still wanted to get traded, and got approved. He knew that he would not be able to leave? Yes he can. Just not play for the whole season, then the team will be forced to trade him especially with that huge contract of his, the Blazers will be forced to trade him because it will be a burden for them paying that huge amount, and yet he wasn't playing for them. Like he said, I think that he only wants to play in Miami uniform, and base on Woj, a few teams are contacting them already for a potential trade. What's good as well is that, the Suns are rumored to be the 3rd team that will get involved into a trade that includes Dame. The question is which team they are contacting with right now.

I feel like now him wanting out is not fair, they have paid him so much because they agreed on the money but also the term of the deal as well, maybe they would have offered less if he wanted a 1-2 year contract, who knows? Maybe they found it worthy because he agreed a long term deal and they made their decisions based on that? If he wants to leave, that's his right to want to leave, but if they want to keep him, then they have every right to not trade him.
He's the main player of the team, so obviously the team will give him a near-supermax contract. He's the main guy on the team. Like I said above, they have the right to keep him, but if you're the GM of the Blazers, will you keep a player who isn't interested in playing with your team, but on the other hand, you are paying him since it's on the contract?

On the other hand, Commissioner Adam Silver must have a solution with this types of situation. It seems like the player has the power on this kind of scenarios where they will just request a trade whenever they feel they need to.
873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the SEC approve BTC ETF in the coming 23 days? on: September 24, 2023, 05:35:32 PM
A lot of speculation has been ramping up that the SEC has no option but to approve the BTC EFT Proposal from various companies. This makes me wonder. What if the SEC doesn't approve it? What if they intend to prolong the announcement would you still keep your hope highs.

Honestly, I am ready to accept anything that will come up during the period as we await the announcement because I see every possible means of approval or rejection as an opportunity to step on
No.

According to the Youtuber that I always watch, I think the SEC can postpone their decision 2 times, and the final day where they will be forced to release their decision will be somewhere around the month of February next year 2024. In short, I expect at least that SEC will only release the result of this filing of a Spot Bitcoin ETF at around February of next year. Don't expect too much with this especially when the current chair of the SEC is Gary Gensler, and we know him as an anti-crypto just because of his involvement with FTX.

They will not approve it this year. That's my prediction, but if the worse thing happens, and they rejected it, I don't know, but it might cause a major downfall towards the price of Bitcoin. I might be wrong since I'm just predicting, but let's see what can happen in the upcoming months. Don't expect too much though.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you see any value in move to earn crypto projects? on: September 24, 2023, 05:23:25 PM
There are some move to earn projects like stepn, stepapp etc . Do you see any value in them or it is just a death spiral?
How do these move to earn project gain revenue? Answer that first, then I will say if there's any value from these kind of crypto projects.

Move to Earn is like Play to Earn where in order for a person earns, somebody must need to invest. Let's face the fact that in P2E games, developers are paying their users thru the money of different users. Same concept with M2E. In order for a user to earn tokens or whatever shitcoin it is, they need investments from other people. Unless they are earning from other things like having a merchandise, or whatever it is.

Move to Earn doesn't have any value at all. I remember SweatCoin where it has been there for years already, and yet it hasn't gained any popularity or at least changed the hype around crypto. Overall, move to earn projects doesn't have any value, but I'm also thinking that there might be some out there who still believe in these M2E projects and because of that, they will be forced to exercise, and that would be healthy for them, so I guess these projects are like "blessing in disguise" for them because they will be healthier since they're already exercising.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good fundamentals don't ensure a great investment. on: September 24, 2023, 05:00:04 PM
~
In essence, even if a project boasts strong fundamentals, a solid team, and real-world value, it doesn't automatically translate into a great investment. This is particularly true for projects with highly inflationary token models. In such cases, reaching previous all-time highs can seem like an even more distant goal.

In summary, a project's fundamentals are only one piece of the investment puzzle, especially when dealing with highly inflationary tokens.

What do you think about this ?
You're only pertaining to inflationary tokens here right.

TBH, this isn't only applicable to inflationary tokens alone, but in all of the tokens in general. Fundamentals alone isn't enough for a project to say that it's a good project to invest your money with. A project can have a good update this month, then it will not for the next 3-6 months. I've seen some projects in the past whose been at the top 20 or even in the top 10 a few years ago, but now isn't even in the top 50 now because of lack of updates, or news regarding the project.

As for inflationary tokens in general, I think we already know what's the most popular inflationary token right now, and yes it isn't DOGE, but it's Ethereum.
876  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 23, 2023, 02:01:59 PM
You want news everyone about Dwight Howard's development together with the Golde State Warriors? Here's what we've got.

Warriors Will Not Sign Dwight Howard After Two-Day Visit, per Report

Warriors pass on signing Dwight Howard to maintain roster flexibility, per report

Many thought that it's like 99% of him signing on the current roster of the Warriors but then, that little percentage of failing prevailed.
They might not sign him, but they will still sign a veteran though.

TBH, I'm not surprised that the Warriors didn't gave him a contract. The reason why they didn't sign him is because of how the current playstyle of the Warriors are currently. We've known the Warriors as a fast-paced team, and they're one of the fastest paced teams right now in the league. Howard can't cope up because he will be having a hard time running, and running. Looney is at least faster him IMO. I think that's the reason why. The playstyle isn't fit for him. Now that he will not go to the Warriors, I wonder where he will be landing. Will other teams try to get him, and give him a veteran contract? Or will he go back to Taiwan again, and attract those NBA players to play with him in Taiwan again. Cheesy

Media makes it looks like a done deal that's why many Warriors and Howards fan that it was a success deal between both parties. But news came out and this is unfortunate events since fans is really hype up for the fact that Warriors will get a legit center now. It seems that Kerr will stick to his small ball line up and this is what Warriors fans worried about since many think that they will be dominated back again by Lakers or Nuggets.
Media wants hype. Media wants to hype up everything that's why they are always very overexaggerated with their articles, and even with some of their videos that's being posted on Youtube.

Unfortunate? Legit Center? Is Looney aren't a legit center? You sure? I'm a Warrior fan, but if I will pick between Looney, and Howard with how the Warriors are playing, I'll still pick the player who's been playing with them for years, and that's Looney. Lol it's a no brainer. Why pick a center who's slower than your current one? They have Saric, and the rookie as their back-up bigs. They don't need a big player TBH, but I think they'll need a veteran who's good at shooting threes, or a role player who's good in offense as well.
877  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: September 22, 2023, 08:42:53 AM
Retiring early for me isn't mean retiring, and do nothing at all. What early retirement for me means is that, retiring for your long time job, then finding another job, or work that is less time consuming, or at least you will work a few hours on it. It means you have the freedom to work at your own pace, at your own will. No one will stop you, no one will force you to work. You can choose when to work, and when not too.

TBH, a few years ago, this is one of my goal. Retiring at early 40's, then live the life that I wanted without thinking of anything that makes me stress, but as years go by, I'm starting to realize that it will be very boring if I will do nothing at my retirement. I mean I want to be efficient at all times. I want to make money, but spending little time doing it. I want to do the things that I love to do. Retiring at your job means stopping from working, then find another work where you will be loving doing it. I want my mom to retire since she's in her age where she can just retire, but whenever I say it to hear, what she always says to me is that "After I retire, what will I do?", and because of that, I realized that it really is boring.

Retiring isn't mean not working for the rest of your lives because that would be very boring especially for those old people who loves challenges, and adventures.
878  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seniors apply patience and kindness to newcomers on: September 22, 2023, 08:13:38 AM
I have concerns about the interactions between experienced members and newcomers in this forum. Occasionally, some experienced members can be quite harsh and may forget that newcomers are here to learn. While constructive corrections are beneficial, it's crucial to avoid using harsh or abusive language.

It's true that some posts from newcomers may be of low quality or show a lack of willingness to learn initially. However, I believe that giving them a chance and treating them with kindness is a reasonable approach.

Name drop those experienced members who are very harsh to newbies out there. I want to know because I might be one of them even though I'm not even close to being an experienced.  Wink Cheesy

Anyway, I don't notice this kind of thing where high ranked members or experienced members are very harsh to newbies. Well, it's a different story if those newbies are just posting for merits. They can feel if that newbie is just posting for merits or not. TBH, I'm kind to newbies who aren't fishing for merits, and if I see newbie who can post as constructive as other high ranked members out there, I will not think twice to give them merits because they deserve it.

TBH, I've seen some newbie-ranked members in the past, and within a few months, ranked up to be a Senior Member, then a Hero Member, then became a Legendary. They ranked up way faster than me, and I commend them. I'm kind, but if I'm one of the members who talks harsh to them then I will adjust for them.
879  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get profit when have PC is idle and unused in home on: September 22, 2023, 06:28:37 AM
So what should I do to earn profit when have a PC not used and lying idle in my home?. I have armagedon 29' monitor, core i5 9 generation, 16 GB Ram and GPU 1030 GTX 2GB. I actually intend to mining, but I don't know what coins I can mine with my PC specification. It's clear enough make me lose when mining Bitcoin or top coin market cap.
I guess many said it here already that with your current specifications, you can't mine... or you can but you will not be profitable, and your computer might be at risk as well.

TBH, I don't know if there's any other way for you to earn money in crypto while your computer is on idle mode. As for me, my computer is always in idle mode, and I'm earning still from it, but the twist is, I'm not mining crypto, or it wasn't related to cryptocurrency at all. As a gamer, I've been hired by my guildmates to pilot their account in exchange for money. Well, it isn't crypto related, but at least I'm still earning while my computer is on idle mode.

Forget about mining already, and can I ask you OP why your computer is unused. I mean you can still earn using it, but in different way right?

Here comes another great move as I am about to unlock my Hero rank, I believe is possible as they said within the short period of time.
I look up for the next rank.
Thank you all.

Be a little patient, friend, Cheesy I'm sure you will soon reach hero rank after your activity increases.
Your current activity: 462. There is still some time for this while waiting for the merit to naturally come.  Grin
