I've been seeing some connection to client lost messages, what generally causes this ?

It's alive.  I finally had success hacking my dead X3 PSU so that I could attach an ATX power supply to it, and it's up and mining again, bulging caps and all.

I'm using an older Antec 1200W unit to power it.  At first I saw it drawing 1460W from the wall, and after recovering from my surprise that it kept running, i quickly backed the settings off from 1200MHz to 1000MHz, and it settled around 1180W at the wall.

I had at first attached four 6-pin PCIe sockets each coming off a pair of 12-ga wires, but the connectors got too hot to touch after just a few minutes, so I added two more sockets.  Now they just get warm to the touch.

Yes I know (now) I got the colors/polarity backwards.  After a magic smoke incident I fixed it outside the unit, not wanting to resolder all those wires on the PCB.  I really need to work on being less retarded when it comes to reading pinouts.

Soldering all that was a giant pain in the ass.  I used 3 irons at once, and used a propane torch to help heat them more hotter.

Still no response from BA about a replacement PSU.  I sure hope they don't ask me to send back the dead/hacked one first.
Assuming they don't try and deny warranty from what you just said but glad to see it's running again.

Ok, so I had three of my four B5's on 250 and they ran great but I felt like I might have been pushing my luck some so I put them on 243.75 and man, I must say, from philipma's expectations of what he said I should get. I'm doing pretty damn good.

The first image is the one machine that's never gone past 237.5.

yeah  that is pretty good .

 your 1 slow one may want 231.25  it may give you the same hash as the 237.5 gives you or it may even give you 460gh.  it will also save power over your 237.5 setting.

What I found so far is :
batch 1 sucked
batch 4 was better
batch 6 was best

I am running these in my garage  with temps about 92f in the garage.
Ok, so for a while I ran the 231.25 and was seeing ~450, that being said, I forgot the one pool the "bad" machine is on set up a new server with a hard diff of 512. So I switched to that, put the machine back to 237.5 and am now seeing ~480 where as on he old server I was getting diffs of like 1.48k and a hash of around 455Gh/s

So ya, that's interesting. I know some people argue diffs can't affect machines like that but I've basically just proven it does... at least with the S3's.
864  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mining.BitcoinAffiliatenetwork.com - we're giving away 1 Antminer S3 every day! on: August 20, 2014, 07:15:12 PM
Because of the new 512 diff server I'm seeing constant ~480 on my one miner that was doing ~455 so the pool was affecting my machines hash with the 3333 server giving me like 1.48k diff.

This is why I said I would love to see user settable diffs for workers, or say, since PW's aren't needed. Whatever is in the password field for the pool is what the Diff is set to.

That would alleviate the need for special servers like the 512 one you set up.

hello there,
there are no winner for August 19, 2014?

    I'm crossing my fingers.  Roll Eyes
Have you received any of the two you've won yet ?

Either way I'm hoping I win one, could use a bit more power.

I think it's the one mining pool u bumped out of when the guy went on a sleep bender. It's done ~460 ~470 on BTC guild.

I like to

Was about to ask for the settings for 231.25 but I forgo I did all those edits yesterday so I could use the new FW lol

Anyway, I just put the slow one on 231.25 so we'll see what happens by 8pm which will give it 7 hrs but I'll still check on it from time to time but by 8pm I should have a good idea of where it likes to sit.

Can you PLEASE do something about allowing us to say how much diff a worker gets ?

I got a 440Gh machine on here that you pools giving a diff of 1.21K and I kinda feel like it's messing with my hash because your pool is the only one it acts up on where as with all other pools I can set worker diffs and stronger rates.

Give it some time to sort out. I have a menagerie of old USB ASICs connected to hubs and they have never reached a WU of 300/M. They are at 308/M now on this pool, so he's doing something right. And all my S1s are holding steady at 178/180Gh.
Anywhere else I have had this miner I can always set a diff of 256 like on BTCuild or Bitminter or hell, even Ghash.

I've been here for like three days now always seeing diff over 1k for the miner.

Where it showing the 1k diff for the miner Huh??   On the rig it self   or the dashboard?Huh?
On the S3 webui itself, either way the point is this pool seems tot be making me lose hash which in turn is a loss of income.

Like right now, it's showing diff of 1.48k, if this was any other pool like BTCGuild, ghash etc it would b using / showing the 256 that I would have set. I got one of my 9 miners pointed here for testing and if it doesn't get better I may just leave, so something will have eto be done about allowing us to set diffs on our workers.

Hey M, I've been thinking about this.

Even with me using the latest FW, I should still be able to web scrape right ? I mean, AFAIK it's just the SSH API the new FW messes up. That said, just how do I enter my IP ? I saw presets like 1.2.3.4:5678 & 1.2.3.4:5678:80, hell, even 1.2.3.4:5678:80:80

I tried both 1.2.3.4:5678 & 1.2.3.4:5678:80 and don't seem to be getting any info with S1 or S2.

All my IP's are like this as I previously stated.

1.2.3.4:2013
1.2.3.4:2014
1.2.3.4:2015
1.2.3.4:2016

Screenscrapes won't work if the screen isn't like an S1 or S2.  And I don't think it is.

Sad

M
So even if I had the old FW still, I'd be SOL anyway. lol, nice.

FWIW, you ever t that loan from the guy here in the thread that offered so you can get an S3 ?

Edit: If you check the S3 thread you should find a screen image from someone.

It's more than just a screen image.  I need the underlying HTML.  I really can't do it w/o an S3 on hand.

I got the loan ... working on getting an S3.  Bitmain has done a good job making their Ants scarce.  Reminds me of the diamond industry.  Keep the supply limited.

M
If all you need is underlying HTML, I can get you the source if that's what you mean / need to get stared.

Just not sure how to really do it from chrome, I know with IE you just "view source".

As for finding and S3, I an only think of eBay or Escrow with someone here.

You have to agree to the EULA before anything else runs. You can go past it in offline mode, but wait until Core is done syncing before trying in online mode.
Will do, if I want to check out various settings in offline. Will those saved in offline be used in online ? Or are there different rule sets for the two "versions" ?

Ty.

Settings only change going from mainnet to testnet.
Sweet... anyway, Ty for all of the help.

Will post back after I get online up if I have more questions ;-)

Core should be around 27 weeks now.

256.25 = 512gh

250 = 500gh

243.75 = 487gh

237.5 = 475gh

231.25 = 462gh

225 = 450gh

218.75 = 440gh

or close enough.

Thx for that, I'm using the new FW, I was hoping by adding 243.75 to the list it would show up on the menu but it doesn't.

Know what I'm missing here ?

I kinda like being able to manage over/down-clocking with the new FW menu.

asic-freq is no longer a factor with the new FW menu.

Here's some info on what to do about changing that menu - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699064.msg8370071#msg8370071
Thx for he link, I only added 243.75 though.

You should have 3 shortcuts if I recall right: Armory Online, Offline and Testnet

As for the error: usually these types of crashes come from a corrupt DB. Deleting the databases folder let's Armory start fresh. For an easy way to determine the error is DB corruption, start Armory in offline mode. If it starts up successfully, then it's the DB, as offline Armory does not initialize the DB.
I ran both and am now getting the acceptance of terms screen so not sure where that error went but I clicked cancel since in your one reply you said to just let core finish which is now at 30 weeks behind.

Well, I finally did it...

Three of my four B5 S3's are all steady at 477+ Gh/s with freq 237.5 with the fourth never seeming to go over 460, did find one x on that one but that's after a week of 237.5 so I just reset it without worry.

Anyway, as for what I finally did. I put one of the three "good" S3's on freq 250 and were now 15 mins in with no X's and ~500Gh/s.

If it runs well or at least an hr I will try 250 on the other two "good" ones doing ~477Gh/s
Congrats Cheesy
Thx, I went ahead and bumped the other two "good" ones so here's where we stand with all four.

I'll do pics after 24hrs when I have more precise stats assuming everything holds well that long.

Miner 1:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 59min
 --- Freq: 237.5
 --- Hash: 453 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.1936

Miner 2:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 8min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 500 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.2291

Miner 3:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 11min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 496 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0008

Miner 4:
 --- Uptime: 1hr 56min
 --- Freq: 250
 --- Hash: 503 Gh/s
 --- HW%: 0.0044

In philipma case he had one running 24hr OK on 250, then had to be restarted out and was NEVER able to run at 237.5 again. For me it means that you will be better off keeping most miners either on 237.5 or 243.75 instead of swinging for 250 or 256.25
I'll still take the gamble because even if I do have to re-downclock, I have better than most power situations so I can play with stuff fairly easy an still make decent BTC even at a slight loss of hash.

As for 243.75, that's not a choice in the new FW and even in the one before it, there's no stuff for it.

Plus, one needs to know the values for thee three fields to even try 243.75.

option 'freq_value'    '1286'  #237.5M
option 'chip_freq'     '237.5'
option 'timeout'       '17'

All that said, what speeds have been seen on the 243.75 freq ?

I'm not opposed to 243.75 for safety, just need the three option settings an supposed speeds with it. Not even sure if many people run that freq.
