921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spirituality and Betting - Do they Have any Connection? on: October 28, 2023, 04:13:11 AM
What I had yet to see in this section, but I don't know why, I'm not surprised. No, God has nothing to do with gambling outcomes. Unless you live in a pre-scientific world and you dedicate yourself to pray prayers or even sacrifices when there is a drought to ask God for rain instead of making wells and canalizations you shouldn't believe in things like that. God, in case he exists, has no intervention in the things that happen in the day to day, at most we can assume in a scientific way that he set the rules of the universe and started it, but if you think that by praying to him he will intervene making it rain or making you win the bet you are scam meat.
922  Economy / Reputation / Re: An awoken problem on: October 28, 2023, 04:03:22 AM
Poker Player, you can do as you wish, for your own reasons and without any argument from me.  I am inclined to let my feedback stand because of the way lightlord (and Lutpin) showed a complete disregard for the members who'd helped them advertise and who were likely afraid to speak up for fear of making their shitty situation even worse.

I figured I wasn't the only one lightlord had PMed, but I left him feedback for basically the same thing twice, once in 2019 and again in 2021.  I'm looking at his trust page now, and I see absolutely no indication that he won't pull that shit again--and the community needs to know about that, particularly those considering joining one of his campaigns.  I thought long and hard before I left the first feedback in 2019, because lightlord is an OG, a donator, and he'd earned a pretty high level of respect.  In the end I thought my decision was the correct one and unless someone convinces me otherwise, I'm not going to touch anything I left on his trust page.

I take into consideration what you say, and in my response to Lightlord I did not promise him that I would change the feedback to neutral, simply that I would take it into consideration. I believe he wrote the message in the best way that can be done, acknowledging that he had made mistakes in the past, asking if I would consider a change to neutral, and saying that if I ultimately didn't, he would understand.

In any case, the only thing I would consider is a color change. I believe what I wrote is true and remains true to this day.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whether Bitcoin ETFs are approved or not, we expect bullish trend on: October 28, 2023, 03:54:25 AM
Who the heck knows what will cause bitcoin’s price to go up in the end? Too much people are betting on the halving and the ETF. What if bitcoin doesn’t immediately pump after these events? Bet longterm.

I agree about betting on the long term, but I would like to clarify that bull runs do not usually occur right after the halving but months later, and they have a logic, we do not expect a simple repetition of history. The reason is that they reduce supply, i equal or higher demand the price will rise. I think the spot ETF will initially add volatility. A quick rise at first but it may also bring the price down faster, although as the price and market cap rise the price will be more stable.
924  Economy / Reputation / Re: @Cantsay - possible abuse of merits + alt accounts on: October 28, 2023, 03:48:22 AM
I recommend Cantsay to stop doing stupid things, like worrying about being the first to reply to a thread. If the answer is good enough, it doesn't matter if you are the first or the fourth. Also, if you have alts, don't do stupid things with them. At the moment I don't see any tag in his profile and his merit history seems decent, leaving aside these 3 merits on the part of his possible alt.

There are already too many people on the forum who screw up by behaving like idiots when they have the potential to be good forum members and earn money accordingly.
925  Economy / Reputation / Re: An awoken problem on: October 28, 2023, 03:24:38 AM
I also received a PM from Lightlord, asking nicely if I'd remove the tag. I guess he wrote to suchmoon as well. I will surely change it to neutral, I just want to wait a little bit to see that there is no one complaining about long delays when they request a withdrawal in their casino, which was part of my feedback as well. Regarding the quality of the participants, I think Brainboss does a good job, because with the rates offered by the campaign he will not be able to hire the best posters, but he ensures a minimum of quality and many of us were part of this campaign in the past.
926  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk won't connect SSL handshake failed on: October 27, 2023, 04:22:31 AM
It was down 11 minutes ago, but now the forum working fine.

Yes. No need to worry. I understand that threads like this are opened when access to the forum is not available for a long period of time, but for such a short period of time it can be for any unimportant reason. I would lock the thread.
927  Other / Archival / Re: Self moderated topics should not be allowed in reputation board! on: October 27, 2023, 04:15:50 AM
I know your post got deleted in Reputation section, but do you think they will not delete your post in the other board/section? it's all up to the Original Poster (OP), I can create a self moderated topic in Bitcoin Discussion and wrote "Any post from @digaran will be deleted". Even you reply on topic, I will keep delete your post and if you don't like what I do for you, you can create your own topic.

Exactly. Let's put in context. Let's see why digaran got one post deleted, just one, while most of what he writes is garbage and he gets paid for it:

Yes, digaran gets paid for generally writing drivel that has little to do with the topic at hand.
Good point. He won't get paid for posting in my topic anymore:
I will delete insults from digaran. Even better, I'll delete all his posts here. He's on my ignore list for a reason.
928  Other / Archival / Re: Self moderated topics should not be allowed in reputation board! on: October 27, 2023, 04:05:54 AM
Wow, another one of those.

If this was discussed before, remove it.
However when you allow people to create self moderated topics in reputation board, they would try censoring whatever they don't like and you will end up with a thread containing only the posts of your liking.
This should not be a problem. If you don't want to be moderated by anyone, simply create your own thread about same subject matter. That solves it.

That's right. I did once not exactly against a self-moderated thread but against a thread in which I could no longer reply. It can be used in the same way.:

"Anti-censorship" reply to Zilon, lol.

IMO, if self mod is allowed it should at least not count any posts in such topics toward post count, this way people would ignore such topics over time, and gangs can no longer act as a gang.
Don't know if you have noticed or not, that board has become a safe haven for sig spammers while playing with people's reputation and getting paid for it.

I, apart from someone called digaran, who writes long posts but that either have little to do with the topic or are straight up spam, have not seen many other spammers in the section.
929  Economy / Speculation / Re: 127% Up from Bottom in 2022 on: October 26, 2023, 04:17:04 AM
Hopefully there will be no black swan event in the horizon, like the Terra Luna and then the FTX collapse. If there's none, then it will be good as we no longer see a lowest low for this year or for this bear market.

Now it is much more unlikely. These things tend to happen when we come from a bull market that cools off and starts to fall. These types of fraudulent schemes hold up well in bull markets, where new money keeps coming in and they start to suffer when the fall begins. Companies that have weathered this cold winter are strong to face the next bull run.

And just imagine though, it's a huge 127% jump from last year bottom, no other asset can bring that profit in just one year, so we should stick with Bitcoin.

I prefer to diversify a bit into non-crypto assets for safety, but yes, Bitcoin continues to be the best asset today in the safety/profitability pair.

But we have to look at the bigger picture, the eventual bull run next year and the year after, so everyone should stay focus and continue to accumulate even in the bull run.

Yeah.
930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The PATRIOT Act comes to cryptocurrency on: October 26, 2023, 03:53:36 AM
Well this is something along the same lines of what is underway in Europe and what I talked about back in the day.

Goodbye, privacy, goodbye, it was nice while it lasted.

The strange thing is that Europe took the lead in this before the United States, which is now lagging behind. But yes, the idea is to try to control Bitcoin transactions as banking transactions are controlled, and in Europe the last thing I read is that by January 2026 the full exchange of information between countries should be implemented.

To all this, apart from the advice given in the thread, such as not using CEX, I would like to add that you should use cash as much as possible when you have to pay with fiat. Taking care of privacy as much as possible with Bitcoin and then paying for everything with your smartwatch is not very coherent.
931  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 26, 2023, 03:44:49 AM
Well, if you can give over a Billion Dollars to Israel to build a "Iron Dome" and to fund the Ukraine to fight the Russians and also spend more than 1 Trillion Dollars on the war in Afghanistan.... then you have to get the money from somewhere.  Roll Eyes

You can just keep printing it. Raising taxes is not the only option.

Regarding what nutildah says, nothing new. In general tax inspectors give preference to large amounts over small amounts, unless they get evidence by someone rerporting or something like that. In the case of other countries the threshold for not being so interesting for the tax authorities is obviously lower, as USA is (still) the country with the highest GDP in the world. But in general things like you earn $70 a week in a signature campaign which is about $3500 a year and you don't declare it doesn't make you interesting for the IRS or the equivalent in other countries, as to begin with they should find out from which country you connect to the forum, if you do it with a vpn, etc. The cost profit ratio doesn't pay off for them.

That said, I pay my taxes and recommend everyone to do so.
932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Scheduled deadlines of Bitcoin Spot ETF applications & Price speculations on: October 26, 2023, 03:31:21 AM
Well, at least the predictions I see are not too far-fetched, which lately I have seen some who have forgotten what has happened this very cycle. Let's hope in terms of approvals that this is the case, and that from January 2024 one ETF after another will gradually be approved, coinciding with the approaching halving, which will push the price upwards.

I don't trust their price speculations and some speculative prices are just too low, lower than my expected price for BTC after 2024 halving and a consequent bull run after a halving. I believe halvings are more important to trigger Bitcoin bull runs than Bitcoin Spot ETFs.

And have you forgotten what has happened this cycle? The maximum has been only 3.5 times the previous maximum, despite predictions of up to 20 times the maximum.

I think they are making conservative predictions and doing well, but I also think that if that calendar roughly comes true, along with halving, and if we don't have any major negative news the price may peak a little higher than the average of what is listed there, probably $250K.
933  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov is deleting self-moderated topics. He now goes onto my Ignore list. on: October 26, 2023, 03:20:59 AM
Let's say he wants to fix the mistakes he made in the previous days, but what could be the reason for deleting others' posts from a self-moderated topic? Fortunately, I did not post in his self-moderated threads, so none of my posts were deleted. But he managed to delete his posts from Gazeta's thread and managed to make all my replies merge and delete the original posts.

So basically, he is trying to punish everyone by deleting their posts, but I doubt it's any kind of punishment. I don't think any active forum members will be affected. But it's disrespectful.

Are there any similar precedents in the forum? I didn't quite catch what happened with Lauda, and then some of the tone of the conversation sounds like Vod-OgNasty to me, but has this mass deletion of posts ever happened before?

From the forum they seem to have a good idea about him, because not only they didn't ban him for plagiarism but they made him a merit source.

You could simply provide the evidence to your campaign manager, he'd understand and would count your posts by date of posts, not total count.
You're missing the point (no surprise there). This has nothing to do with campaign managers.

Yes, digaran gets paid for generally writing drivel that has little to do with the topic at hand.

Did you claim that you wrote this shitpost yourself?

I don't know if he claims or doesn't claim, what is clear to me is that he keeps writing shitposts, and getting paid for it.

On the subject of inclusions-exclusions, I wonder to what extent Ratimov has a number of stalwarts on his local board.
934  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 25, 2023, 04:29:41 AM
The plan is the same or sounds very similar to the one the European Union is trying to implment, which in short tries to control Bitcoin transactions like banking transactions. Only P2P and transactions made from one's custodial wallet with non-EU entities would escape. But of course, if the USA follows the same path and more and more countries join, in the end there will be less and less room for freedom.
935  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 25, 2023, 04:24:04 AM
Simply that you don't stop doing anything you would like to do because of lack of money. Keep in mind that this is relative, because if you have aspirations like buying an island or a yacht and filling it with models to accompany you, it will cost you much more to feel rich than if you have more mundane aspirations. Things like there are a few days left until everyone gets paid and if you feel like buying clothes, filling up the tank and inviting your girlfriend to dinner can be part of that feeling of wealth.
936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBTC ticker of Blockrock is still listed on the website on: October 25, 2023, 04:12:43 AM
I mean, we have also become so dependent on such news which no doubt really matters...

Not really. That only happens to you short-termed people. The best thing to do is to invest for the long term and forget about the noise. I don't care if Blackrock delists it permanently, I know that in 10 years the Bitcoin will be worth a lot more than it is now. In the meantime I am entertained by the ups and downs of the price, and their possible causes, but they don't keep me awake at night.

That said, I don't know what has caused the temporary delisting but I think we are starting a sustained price rise.
937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Instagram Banned Bitcoin on: October 25, 2023, 03:57:14 AM
I wouldn't read too much into it either. On the one hand they have banned everything that refers to Bitcoin and "crypto", putting it in the same bag and we already know that everything that refers to crypto ends up being scams or pump and dump schemes. On the other hand, those of us who have Bitcoin don't want people to know about it either, and even less so on a site like Instagram.

Although I suppose that over time when Bitcoin is even more standardized they will have to reverse the decision.
938  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov be in DT1? on: October 25, 2023, 03:42:43 AM
All of those posts were On Topic and constructive. I did not use any foul language like others did even though I know using these words is allowed. So, why those posts were removed? Because some so-called heavy-weight reputed member reported them?

Because Ratimov deleted his posts and thus your posts were rendered off-topic.

I think the most likely thing here is that after deleting his posts, Ratimov reported Learn Bitcoin's posts no? Or is it that the moderators are following the thread and deleting posts like that on their own initiative? Ok, so I've seen the explanation on another thread.

Also, it's not so clear to me that they are off-topic simply because he deleted them. If someone accidentally exposes a piece of evidence that reveals they have broken the rules and upon realizing it immediately deletes the post, referring to the deleted post is off-topic? Of course it isn't. And I'm not saying this is the case but it's an example that it shouldn't automatically be considered off-topic to refer to a post that someone has deleted.
939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone holds 1 bitcoin in 2023, can he call himself rich ? on: October 24, 2023, 04:22:20 AM
Everyone can call themselves whatever they want, it is another thing if what they call themselves has more or less to do with reality. As already mentioned, the answer to the OP's question is relative, but I would like to clarify that this is as of today. Let's wait a couple of cycles or three and I think there will be no place in the world where someone holding an entire Bitcoin won't be considered rich.
940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 24, 2023, 04:10:27 AM
I agree with most of the answers, which I would formulate as follows: for most people it is better to simply invest, do Buy and Hold or DCA. It's a simple way to make money with Bitcoin. For trading, it depends, the more short-term the trading is, the more knowledge and control of emotions you have to have to be among the small percentage that make it profitable in the long term, but there is also an interesting point:

Yes. They are not mutually exclusive.

In my opinion they can be combined but trading in the medium term as a minimum, which would be to take advantage to buy more in bear markets and sell at specific times in bull markets, not to be buying and selling all day long.
