1901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | No Premine - No IPO - ONLY OFFICIAL THREAD on: May 17, 2014, 09:13:11 AM
Huge Buy wall at 18044!!! To the moon!  Shocked

Edit: Too high though. Way higher then other buy offers. Should save the wall! It's valuable.  Undecided

doesn't matter who ever bought that is lucky the more bc you acquire at this point is just a bargain im sending 20btc+ from a loan to buy bc

Never invest in cryptos more than you can afford to lose. making a loan to invest is not the best idea around.
1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | No Premine - No IPO - ONLY OFFICIAL THREAD on: May 17, 2014, 09:12:04 AM
this coin si too expensive to buy. Angry
Good joke Cheesy... In final amout it will be comparable to LTC mister.
So 0.08$ BC vs 10$ LTC ... looks to "too expensive" - think twice.
+all all good thing working around.

I don't get this "coin is to expensive" either.
You buy 10$ worth of coins... be it litecoin or bitcoin or blackcoin.

When to go the moon?

Wait some more  it's not the time for another rally Smiley

When will it be time? Tongue

Bad news from china for cryptos have to finally stop and doge hitting a retailer.
Without those two , i can't see anything other than a pump and dump.
1904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 17, 2014, 09:08:47 AM
Maybe 100 sat is the psychologic limit

It;s just the coin has stabilized for a while and it will take more than dogecar for it to break out.
There are still plenty of coins getting mined and lot's of them sold and bought.

I think that it's just the fact that doge fan base are not investors to pour money into the coin as opposed to btc.

From what I read here and on reddit there are plenty of doge investors, but mostly younger with much smaller stakes than a typical BTC or LTC investor.  That means doge needs larger user (and investor) base to match or beat their numbers in fiat sense.  Bitcoin community is growing, too, and to keep or improve the position doge needs to continually outperform in user numbers.  I do believe doge user base is growing much faster than BTC or LTC user base, and if you combine that with more halvings, demand will definitely grow.  As for supply, it is probably already more dependent on spenders/holders/traders than mining rewards, so near term supply might be harder to predict.

Of course, there are plenty more parameters, this is just one of them.

To da moon!

Unfortunately , doge is not designed to adress such investors.
It has to do it's best with the current user base type , if it stops this , it will not be doge anymore.

It doesn't have to change user base type, it just needs more shibes to achieve the same thing, and it's doing great.  May not be the best analogy (not sure if it is accurate), but will use it to make a point: people drink wine but more people drink beer, some drink both.  Wine is more expensive but more beer is consumed both in quantity and fiat value  Smiley

Guess the question is, do we want to be like Bitcoin (with it's hundreds of thousands of users and multi-Billion dollar market cap), or do we want to be like Q coin (Tencent QQ, 750 million users, estimated over Trillion dollar market cap). Bitcoin has a lot going for it, but it's not like it's the most successful digital currency ever.

Qcoin can be killed by the PBOC in a matter of seconds and wait it has been already killed once
It was actually the first coin to be banned in china. Besides:

Quote
As the online gamer source tells Quartz, "the currency's system is so decentralized" that it would be extremely difficult for the Chinese government to do anything about bitcoin. That wasn't the case with Q Coin, he says. "The [Ministry of Commerce] can regulate Q Coin because of two things. One, Tencent submits regular reports about Q Coin's circulation and transaction volumes. Two, MoC can withdraw Tencent's license if things get out of control," he says, adding that the Chinese government has no mechanism for tracking bitcoin transaction or circulation. And unlike with Tencent, there's no company or entity to target for regulation. "To China's conservative regulators," he adds, "Bitcoin is a game [that's] way more dangerous."

you seriously think bitcoin network can support the daily lives of 7,000,000 users? last I checked national pride is thousands of years old and no one cancelled it, lately.

just admit it, this coin only means profit to you, nothing else Smiley

No seriously , what did you mean by that?
It's not a type , more of a failed google translate.
1907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ISR] Isracoin - The Israeli cryptocurrency on: May 17, 2014, 08:57:28 AM
you should ask yourself what the price is going to be in ten years, not three weeks Wink

well the coin has been dropping like a stone and there hasn't been a positive update lately.

Any news???

thanks

1910  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VISA & MASTERCARD blocked Russians from accessing their money on: May 16, 2014, 06:32:12 PM
Let's for a moment suppose that visa and mastercard go nuts.
They block all the card and money transfers.

What would be the short term consequences?
Lost money will be returned from insurance fund, then something interesting would happen.

A bank run?
Maybe, if significant part of deposits money was invested into the foreign assets.

A drop in e-commerce? enormous use of webmoney ?
This event will have a shocking effect to e-commerce, and some transitional period will be required before new PoS equipment will be established by sellers.

The only problem is international banking. National system will be incompatible with VISA or MC, so customers of sanctioned bank will be unable to work with foreign VISA/MC clients directly. But this shouldn't create any irresistible problem, because local banks are able to work with any payment system using the foreign pass-through, if it would be necessary.

enormous use of webmoney ?
I'd like to see that. But actually, webmoney is just another bank, it could be sanctioned as well as any others.

Bitcoin usage?
Unfortunately, bitcoin network wouldn't be able to process such amount of transactions.

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I just realized that a bank run shouldn't be triggered.

The money you have on your visa card are money owned by the bank in my case for example ING.
So it's just you card that got disabled  , it's not your account that is at risk .. so I guess no bank run.

As for webmoney...didn't know they are actually a bank , not a service.
It's a pain in the ass sometimes to use but I had no problems with it in the last 4 years so people would consider it first  , before bitcoin unfortunately.
1911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability on: May 16, 2014, 06:27:32 PM

Yes they do Smiley.
Those asic farms make sure no 10 yo with 1000$ on this father cc can buy a botnet and play with the chain as he wants Smiley.
So , what is protecting quark against this kind of attack?

While it is not a substitute for a strong network, Quark is protected by its checkpointing. Every 12 blocks, the blockchain is signed by the checkpoint - meaning that every 12 blocks, the blockchain becomes hard-coded. Therefore, if a person wanted to double spend, all the accepting party would have to do to prevent that from occurring and seeing that they in fact did not send payment and are trying to commit fraud is to wait for 6 minutes or 12 blocks, at which time they would see that the transaction that they are accepting in fact has been removed from the blockchain. At that time the accepting party would simply have to not send the purchased material since there was non-payment.

The Foundation would not allow a "10 y/o with $1000" to successfully attack the network - we have a lot more devoted resources than that. Many other coins could be attacked by someone with enough means - that is not isolated to Quark. Theoretically one of the ASIC manufacturers for sha256 or scrypt could simply run a large proportion of their production line of ASICs themselves and play the same sort of havoc you're describing. The whole system is based on some element of trust - which will be reduced as the whole landscape evolves. Quark is less than 1 year old - we are at the start of our life-cycle, not the end.

Vic

Do you have a clue what a 51% or a 90 % attack can do?
Do a bit of research , you're getting the wrong idea Smiley.

Do you have a clue how to use emoticons? Have a look at passive aggressive communication, and think about how you come across - unless you like being a psychopath that disrupts every thread you post in

I was a critic of quark long before you made your account;).
I didn't like the distribution curve nor it's so called cpu friendly algorithm.

Right now ,I couldn't care less about the premine if it was any or it's projects or future
It just shows me how weak a coin with practical no rewards and no transaction fees is

How nice of you to tell us all what you don't like. Constantly.

Let me guess, you were an early adopter of Bitcoin and did well enough to quit your job, and now, you spending your time 'protecting your investment' by trolling messageboards and posting FUD about the competition. How sad.

I am not an early adopter , I haven't quit my job and It's my pleasure to remind quark fanatics that their coin is 1/10 of the value they bought in December.

Also , unlike you zealots I had a bet with cryptohunter and I admitted in this board and pm'd him that I lost it and for the the 7 days trading time quark was a better choice than btc.

But , you're the type of blinkered commie zealot "who's not with us" is an enemy! Stone him to death!

Competition? If bitcoin needs trolls to protect it from qrk , then bitcoin deserves to die.

1913  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: May 16, 2014, 06:21:32 PM
Bad move, I'd say. Akhmetov is the richest man in Ukraine, worth some $16 billion. He can easily import mercenaries from all across the globe and destroy the Donetsk People's Army.

Hmm... that aspect should be considered as well.

Meanwhile, Akhmetov is reportedly going ballistic over the Donetsk People's Republic's move to nationalize the heavy industries. I am OK with the proposal, as the profits will go to workers instead of the corrupt oligarch.

Nationalization?  Oh my god! What is this , back to '45 ?

No, to 1917.

Depends from country to country I guess Smiley.

Nationalization... Almost century passed since invention of this procedure, but it still useful against oligarchs. Smiley

The problem is , who decides who is the oligarchs
It's very simple... If somebody earns money on your territory and uses this money against you through paying the mercenaries, then you have to bring the situation to your control.  Smiley

Yeah , this is the main idea , and it's the good one.
But starting this "purge" is like opening the pandora box.
In the end oligarchs will we all the people who don't shout "sieg heil" in the morning or oppose the "country".
1920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC/BLK) | PoS | No Premine - No IPO - ONLY OFFICIAL THREAD on: May 16, 2014, 05:47:43 PM
we need a moderator in here that moderates, not just one that deletes messages.
too much bs messages about Cinni, DRK or XBC. There's threads for that...
There even is an Internet Explorer thread.                                                                                    Grin

Yeah if i ever have a thread I will mod other coins out of it. Its ridiculous. DRK is 50% premined. Look at the rich list. BC is way more evenly distributed.

50%?? wtf

Maybe i am spreading fud on accident but somebody started a thread about how the launch was set up in a certain way with linux or something and there was only a certain amount of miners and that there was lots of people who had large amounts of coins almost half.

True or not. IF you look at the rich list, you will see there is a very large concentration of wealth distributed over a few small amount of wallets.

Dont get me wrong I was one of the FIRST people in DRK. Got it at 15 cents. I still have some but still, BC is actually very well distributed. It is one of the most fair coins to exist in crypto.

Addresses mean nothing...
That has been proven when 6 addresses in top richest BTC combined their balance a month or so ago.
It is quite possible for any coin that more than just one in the top100 is owned by the same person.
