The more I read the news the more unease I feel:

More jets and warships: US increasing military presence in Black Sea
http://rt.com/usa/163936-us-increasing-military-black-sea/

Quote
According to Reuters, Hagel said President Obama’s $1 billion fund would allow for a "stronger presence of U.S. ships in the Black Sea," and that the plan would mean a consistent stream of rotating vessels in the region.

"We will sustain that tempo going forward,” he added.

"Given the situation in Ukraine right now, we have also increased our American presence. We've begun rotating additional ground troops and F-16 aircraft into Poland... to help our forces support NATO air missions,

Well, the steps needed to invade a country, which can give significant resistance would be:
1) Neutralise that country's defensive/retaliotary mechanisms (PARTIALLY DONE - Missile "defence" in Europe, but more needs to be deployed)
2) Disparage and paint that country in black (DONE)
3) Create a conflict at that country's doorstep to justify the next step (DONE)
4) Gradually pull your troops to that county's borders without raising to much alarm (ALMOST DONE)
5) Bonus: Get that country to pull it's troops from the border (DONE)
6) Instigate a large-scale provocation to allow you to "retaliate" (STILL TO COME)
7) Invade at will (STILL TO COME)

Hagel is currently swinging through Romania, a NATO member that has urged the US to increase its presence in Eastern Europe in the wake of the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s accession of Crimea. Since then, the country has been a part of joint military exercises with American forces and has promised to increase its own defense spending.

That's what you get when you talk about sending bombers.

There was actually a request from both sides in the romanian government for more troops to be deployed in Romania and as well as protection for Moldova.

And for the first time there was no opposition like when the base at Deveselu was planned or when the first planes arrived at Kogalniceanu
It's the first time the public is happy with foreign troops on our soil.

Ps there was another article on how the romanian army will only last 30 minutes in case of a russian attack..
How nice from the peace loving russians to think of this scenario

1642  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the West gearing up to invade Russia once again? on: June 05, 2014, 02:58:58 PM
Why the hell is might advanced ultra developed Russian army buying weapons from the no experience piece of garbage weapon manufacturer France?
Because corrupt (maybe?) minister of defence have signed this deal. Yep, that's stupid because there is no sense in such ships for Russia. These ships are useful only when you want to conquer the small african country, otherwise they're tactically useless.

So Russia wins both if France denounces the deal (as such ships are useless for the Russian navy plus possible fines) and if it succeeds in brushing off the NATO requests (sanctions are shown to be shallow and not effective), lol... Cool

And if not they get some useless ships that in case of an war might fire in their own troops and pay a shitload of money for it.
Just like the greeks ended up with those Germans subs when they didn't have money for wages.

What are you referring to? What's happened to those German submarines, they all went belly up? Cool

Guess I've drawn my comparison too far.German things are not what they were a few decades ago when talking about cars but when it comes to industrial robots or military stuff they still make some pretty decent stuff.

No , it was just about spending funds when you have other needs. Why the hell did the Greeks order two submarines when they have a debt nobody has a clue how to pay ?

Same with Russia , same with Romania same with the US.Why purchase fighters or ships when at the first sign of conflict half of the military personnel has no will to fight for your damn government.
Reminds me of a joke that is continuously told here for the last 30 or 40 years.

How to fix the economy? We should declare war to the us or germany and after one hour surrender Smiley.

At least the Americans after the invasions withdraw from those countries... the Russians are still there after 60 years Smiley

Russians still there after 60 years? Which countries are you talking about? As far as I know no Russian soldier is stationed outside Russia. On the other hand, the US is having a military presence in more than 100 countries.

At lest the Americans bought some of the lands like the former colony of Louisiana and Alaska but...

Seems to be pretty stable, save for those times, when Russia was invaded.

From it's neighbors view , sorry to say it but I remember how my teacher once said about another empire , It seems like a cancer spreading.
Besides , it's the only empire or country that kept expanding it's territory every century. and yes it just did it again this one too Smiley.

If Putin will turn his back to eastern Ukraine it will be interesting to see how the people there will see mother Russia. Probably a 180 opinion change.

Never mind Russians in Novorossia... I am more worried about how the Russians in Russia will see Putin. Levada opinion polls show that the majority (over 70%) is for armed help to Novorossia.

I guess it all depends on what Poroshenko does after the 7th.

Those 70% can be easily won by economical reforms or increase in health care assistance or wages or god knows what are the urgent needs of the average Russian citizens.

The guys fighting for the independence in "Novorossia" (??) will not be won over again without a military intervention or supply lines.

What is supposed to happen after or on the 7th?

Russia to supply gas to Ukraine on prepaid basis from June 1

http://en.itar-tass.com/economy/730982

Quote
Russia will supply natural gas to Ukraine on a prepaid basis from June 1, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Thursday, May 8. “May 7 was the last day when Ukraine had to pay for the gas supplied. We have not received any payment from Naftogaz of Ukraine since March of this year. Ukraine’s overall debt for gas has reached 3,508 billion U.S. dollars up to date,” he said. In accordance with Clauses 5.1.5 and 5.8 of the contract for the supply of gas made by and between Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine in 2009, failure to perform the obligations entails an automatic transition to gas supplies on a prepaid basis from June 1, 2014, Novak said.

What's the latest updates on this issue?

I have said like ten times that Ukraine will do anything not to pay the entire bill.
Also I said that Russia will not cut the gas no matter what.

And it seems like it's all going like before.
Just like the threat to kick visa and mastercard out of the country.

shut up and move your ass to china or russia

Lol... is this your version of free speech? I have no interest for living in the US and I have never visited that god-forgiven place. I'll visit China and Russia whenever I feel so. Don't need your permission for that.

For a guy commenting on every news and talking like you know everything about living in the usa and russia and how health care , freedom of speech and many more work there it's quite intriguing that in reality you have never set foot there.

1648  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Cure For Stupid Gas Cans on: June 05, 2014, 02:08:25 PM
Much more annoying than the can it self, is to be without gas, having to walk to a gas station with the first bottle we could find, and they refusing to sell gas saying that we have to have a gas can.

Wow, lol. What is this shit? Regulated gas cans?

You can't pump your own gas in some states?

What is the reasoning behind any of this garbage? Safety? Safety from what? Gas doesn't ignite very easily at all. I've seen someone put a cigarette out in gas before, it's flammable of course, but not as much as most people expect it to be.

It can ignite easily ..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn6hGnHBUcc

But that law about pumping your own gas reminds me that we have the same rules here when filling your tank with  for GPL  ( or LPG i think in english).

Russia’s ambassador returns to Kiev, plans to attend Poroshenko inauguration

Russia’s ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov will attend the inauguration of Petro Poroshenko as Ukrainian president, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told ITAR-TASS on Thursday. It was decided that Zurabov will take part in the official ceremony of Ukraine’s presidential inauguration, which is due to be held on June 7. Zurabov will not participate in the reception after the ceremony, the news agency said. He is returning to Kiev to resume his work as ambassador after the Ukrainian presidential election.

As I said in the other thread , they've got what they wanted they are leaving the rest in the hands of the EU.
Feels like after ww2 Germany ...

Just one soldier released in exchange for 5 hardcore terrorists. These terrorists in turn will kill many more American soldiers. Bergdahl wasn't even a high ranking officer to begin with.

Just one soldier released in exchange for 5 hardcore terrorists. These terrorists in turn will kill many more American soldiers. Bergdahl wasn't even a high ranking officer to begin with.

Yeah this was a really stupid decision. It also signals to them that our government will trade prisoners with them which makes kidnappings and hostage taking much more likely.

We can keep our soldiers safe by keeping them at home instead of in so many countries. We could also save a ton of money that way.

Wonder if you would say the same if he was part of your family.
It got so easy to comment if somebody needs to be saved or killed when you're sitting comfy in your chair with a beer in your hand and typing on a forum.

1651  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Illegal "UN" helicopter shot down in Slavyansk. on: June 05, 2014, 11:56:53 AM
Un monitors have been deployed on march 14th.

The UN says that there are no monitors there, and there are no media reports about them either. Could you provide some links to prove your claims? I still doubt whether they will be stationed in front-line cities such as Slavyansk.

http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=47809#.U5Ba0fnV8vw

Following the release of the report produced by her 34-member monitoring team in Ukraine, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay called on “those with influence on the armed groups responsible for much of the violence in eastern Ukraine to do their utmost to rein in these men who seem bent on tearing the country apart.”

Funny how no longer than two weeks ago you were criticizing the same report as being biased  Smiley))

An unexpected move by Donetsk Peoples Republic.

The see as the only way out from the current situation stopping of hrivna circulation, creation of republican central bank, based on Russian rouble, and getting a 30 billion rouble loan from Russia to kick-start the economy.
http://itar-tass.com/mezhdunarodnaya-panorama/1238102?utm_medium=rss20

Well, they have to start somewhere, but I would say it is a bit far-fetched in the current situation. Russia hasn't even acknowledged the republic.

They will never get that loan.
Russia won't stir the waters much more by recognizing the region. They've got Crimea , that's what they wanted.

It is clear from few tweets in which the rebels (yeah i'm calling them rebels) are demanding help and are desperately seeking aid that Russia is cutting the line.

If Putin will turn his back to eastern Ukraine it will be interesting to see how the people there will see mother Russia. Probably a 180 opinion change.

Dmitry Rogozin and his damn twitter account:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitry_Rogozin

Post the link to his twitter account or the one towards the tweet here, and not the Wikipedia article. Probably it was a tweet made in some fake twitter account (occurs frequently).

Have you at least checked the page?
Of course not!

Both his twitter , personal website were listed there as well as his comment in detail.

Of course , when a Russia official screws up it is fake , when the rt is showing pictures from Syria instead of Ukraine , is a common mistake.

People like you who say that kind of shit in response to calling the U.S out on civil rights abuses are ignorant and naive, I could easily find photo's and events where cops regularly attacked protesters in the U.S too.

Most of the protesters in Europe and us get beaten spend a few nights in detention and that's it.
In China , there are lots of people who protest , get arrested and they disappear.

Where is the guy that stopped that tank?

The Russian people are not responsible for the bad actions of their government.

bad actions of their government? Did the Russian government invaded half the world nations for their oil and gas resources, like what the Americans did? Did they gave weapons and money to Al Qaeda, just like what the Americans did in Syria?

At least the Americans after the invasions withdraw from those countries... the Russians are still there after 60 years Smiley
1659  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VISA & MASTERCARD blocked Russians from accessing their money on: June 04, 2014, 10:38:25 PM
You don't use financial services as a weapon of war. This is immoral. The Russian people are not responsible for the bad actions of their government.

No , it's far better to use live ammunition. That wouldn't be immoral.
It'a a war game and it's being fought not with guns but with $.

And unfortunately , yes , the people are always responsible for the action of their government , because... it's THEIRS.
You don't support the government , replace it or bring it down it. You don't like it and you can't overthrow it or replace it, move to another country.

How did we manage to use gasoline without blowing ourselves up for so many years before our benevolent masters got around to protecting us? I can sleep better now knowing that my gas cans are spilling fuel all over me instead of spontaneously exploding.

With a lot of luck Smiley.

This is a normal image on  what kind of gas cans are used down here.

I've seen people filling 2l bottles with gas a few hundred times and till now I haven't heard of them causing explosions Smiley.
