lol... here comes the truth about Kiev junta's new offensive... and that too from an American source.  Grin

Ukraine offensive stalled by insurgents, lack of ammunition

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/06/04/ukraine-offensive-stalled-by-insugents-lack-ammunition

Fox. They must have been given green light to publish it with such wording. I see two reasons:
1. The US is preparing to back-pedal on the Ukrainian involvement
2. (more likely) This should prepare the public for why US needs to spend more money on NATO and send money and weapons to Ukraine (to help poor, bullet-deprived National Guard)

Earth to nemo...what is happening to you?
If they don't post any news it's a conspiracy , if they post the fake news is paid propaganda , if they post the real news they must have a hidden agenda...

Sorry but you seems to go the path of 247crypto , If you know what I mean.

Wonder how they missed nuclear program supervision from that list.

Well.. We're still alive and, unlike Ukraine, we aren't going to explode another nuclear reactor Roll Eyes

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the accident at Cernobil happened in the USSR , not in Ukraine Wink.
Yep, but Chernobyl NPP was under responsibility of Kiev's authorities.

And actually I mean something more serious:

Again the stupid rt?

I see 10 times the word american and not even once Japan.

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is a US based nuclear power company, controlled by the Toshiba Group,.

Quote
Similar problems with Westinghouse fuel assemblies occurred at a number of other USSR-constructed nuclear power plants: NPP Krško in Slovenia, NPP Loviisa in Finland and NPP Temelin in the Czech Republic.

Krško Nuclear Power Plant
The plant is a 2-loop Westinghouse pressurized water reactor, with a rated thermal capacity of 1,994 thermal megawatts (MWt) and 696 megawatts-electric (MWe).

In the early 1970s, Tito's government of Yugoslavia recognized the need for additional electrical production in the constituent republics of Croatia and Slovenia. With a domestic source of uranium available, proposals were obtained from Siemens (Germany) and Westinghouse (USA) for a single nuclear power of a practical size. With the agreement of the U.S. government, Westinghouse won the competition to supply a plant based upon the Angra power plant being constructed in Brazil at that time

Those guys know they can cripple the Russian commerce and they will not pay a cent more.

I wouldn't put it as dramatically. Visa and Master Card are only really important when trading with abroad by tourists or Internet commerce. I don't know what the numbers are, but I can't imagine that being a large segment.

Visa and MC have almost 90% of all card transactions in Russia.

According to the Russian central bank, the volume of card transactions in Russia reached 7.3 trillion rubles ($204 billion) in the 4th quarter of 2013. If the two U.S. companies processed 90 percent of that volume, about $2 billion per day,

Well , it does seems like a lot to me.

Also :

"We have 100 million cards there (in Russia) and it is not in anyone's best interest, inclusive of the Russians, to make those cards not available to their own citizens," Pollitt said.

This was visa alone.

Actually he have some quite real power, you can see a description of his responsibilities on the government site.

Usage of strategic bombers is not within his competence. But it won't stop him from trolling, of course.

Could you please translate this one:

I learned the bits of russian too long ago to understand it and google translate makes a mess of it.

What the hell does it really mean when it comes to real life execution?
It's about infrastructure of state borders. Organization of checkpoints operation, construction of border outposts, mining of adjacent areas if necessary.

Develping of state borders of Russian Federation.

Basically supervise all that is listed here:

In English:

Quote
Rosgranitsa is responsible for developing and realizing the state policy, legal regulation, managing the state property and functions of a federal public contracting authority, rendering of the state services in the area of arrangement of the border crossing checkpoints of the Russian Federation.

Thanks for the explanation..
Development of state borders sounded a bit weird to me:).

1666  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VISA & MASTERCARD blocked Russians from accessing their money on: June 03, 2014, 09:26:47 PM

Not really if i read the last two paragraphs:

Mr Siluanov said Visa and MasterCard currently "have problems" with the insurance deposit demanded by the law, but that both sides would seek a solution. Earlier this week, Mr. Siluanov said that Russian cardholders should be ensured against possible service disruptions.

A finance ministry official who asked not to be named said Thursday that Russia hopes to reach an agreement with Visa and MasterCard that will result in creation of a payment system akin to existing systems in France and Turkey. In these two countries global card providers work together with their local peers, processing transactions together.

They won't get any money and any deposit from visa.
Those guys know they can cripple the Russian commerce and they will not pay a cent more.

New law will apply since June 1st, so all issues should be resolved before this date. Article says that representatives of visa & mc are currently negotoating with Central Bank of Russia in order to find suitable value for insurance deposit.

And it's June the 4th and in the end , nothing happened.
Seems like visa was to much to handle Smiley.

I guessed right. Don't take him seriously (he has no real power)...  Grin

Whenever this guy talks there is another idiot here in the local press that somehow "manages" to write his position like being the prime minister , not the deputy prime minister of the government.

And you obviously understand the reactions from people listening to the news and not digging deeper.

Well, to be fair to Romania, it was not Hitler's ally by its own volition.

On the other hand, "Russia is threatening the eastern block with it's gas". Do you mean, "asking for the debt for already-delivered gas to be paid". Or did you mean something else that slipped my attention? Last time I checked Lithuania got quite a good gas deal with Russia. So did Poland.

And what "Eastern block" are you talking about? Don't forget, you are now NATO. Wink

No , I was talking about threatening with cutting the gas supply.
Romania has no debts and it never went overdue with the payment.

But there is always a stupid  russian with too much vodka on board and to high in the the government that threatens to cut the gas with no reasons , just to show "how might" the russian empire is.

That doesn't help too much.

Whom are you actually talking about? Roll Eyes

Dmitry Rogozin and his damn twitter account:

Well, to be fair to Romania, it was not Hitler's ally by its own volition.

How's that? Shocked

In 1940, Romania's territorial gains made following World War I were largely undone. In July, after a Soviet ultimatum, Romania agreed to give up Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina. Two thirds of Bessarabia were combined with a small part of the Soviet Union to form the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. The rest (Northern Bukovina, northern half of the Hotin county and Budjak) was apportioned to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Shortly thereafter, on 30 August, under the Second Vienna Award, Germany and Italy mediated a compromise between Romania and the Kingdom of Hungary: Hungary received a region referred to as "Northern Transylvania", while "Southern Transylvania" remained part of Romania. Hungary had returned all of Transylvania after World War I in the Treaty of Trianon. On 7 September, under the Treaty of Craiova, Southern Dobruja (which Bulgaria had lost after the Romanian invasion during the Second Balkan War in 1913), was ceded to Bulgaria under pressure from Germany.

I think this clears any doubt about "own volition".

Also I was replying to Bryant comment and his line:

"As long as the Eastern Europeans are OK with the American military presence on their soil, I am not complaining. "

edit:
added this:

On 8 October German troops began crossing into Romania. They soon numbered over 500,000.

On 23 November Romania joined the Axis powers.

Although Wikipedia is wrong about this , the troops started crossing into the new Romanian borders only at the begging of November , but still before romania actually joined the axis.
1673  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evidences of chechens fighting in Ukraine? on: June 03, 2014, 07:07:11 PM
No , you have seen news and pictures about it.
Just like we have seen those in the us propaganda about Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan (from both the us and Russia) and many mores.

Well... right now only the Russian sources are covering the conflict in detail. For example, the aerial bombardment of Lugansk. None of the Western news media covered the event, although the OSCE observes confirmed the bombing. If everything is Russian propaganda, then why doesn't the Western media try to counter it?

I get my news from a large number of news media (including BBC, CNN and the Washington Post). I have posted many links from these sources as well.

Why bother sending reporters there?
Westerners don't care about what's happening there , it's Russians fighting other Russians.

I'm living in a country that borders Ukraine , we only get news about what's happening there when the idiots of rt are trying to involve our country in their propaganda.

All my friends and co workers have the same opinion , it's the Russians who want to bring back the urss.
They will fail again but they will a be a million less with this. Let them try.

People here are more interested in the CL finals than the Ukraine.

But.. this contradicts your theory about eu involvement , not?
With the billions that were in fact millions spent by nulland , why don't they start their won propaganda machine?
Why isn't the nazi press hammering with fake reports ?

Try to think twice before getting the wrong opinion Smiley

1674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Solar Roadways... on: June 03, 2014, 07:00:21 PM
With the amount spent on solar and wind equipment we could have developed by now a fusion plant with deuterium as a energy source that would wipe away the fears of nuclear waste or accidents.

Have to disagree with you on that. A large number of nuclear fission reactors are operating in the world right now, but nuclear fusion is a bit more complicated. So far no one has come up with a viable methodology to produce electricity cheaply from nuclear fusion. The current fusion reactors exist only for demo purposes.

If all the money that as poured into solar and wind energy would have gone to development on nuclear fusion things would have improved a lot.

But of course there are lots of people not so happy about plants producing solar panels shutting down.
1675  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crimea on: June 03, 2014, 06:56:32 PM
Here is a map of the canal network in Crimea.

Have to agree that large parts in the North-east and North-west depends upon the Canal.

Some basic facts about agriculture in Crimea:

1. Agricultural land occupies 71% of the total area, compared to just 11% classified as forest lands.
2. Average rainfall is 407 mm per year (less than half of the crop requirements).
3. Total annual average river flow in Crimea is 0.91 cubic km, which is not enough to cover the irrigation requirements.
4. Agriculture consumes 82.4% of all the water supplies.
5. The Northern Crimean Canal (NCC) provides 72.9% of all the water supplies.

Thanks for the additional info , but can you then explain what is wrong with this one?
http://rt.com/news/158028-ukraine-water-supply-crimea/

Either the article is full of mistakes or your info it's not better.

See the difference on the 72% to 85% ?
Was that added by the rt reporters just to add more drama?

1676  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Illegal "UN" helicopter shot down in Slavyansk. on: June 03, 2014, 06:51:40 PM
It doesn't have to be peacekeepers but just UN monitors like those for human rights. And they were deployed in Ukraine for over a month.

On 30th May, Ban Ki Moon stated that there are no UN monitors in Eastern Ukraine. He said that right now the only international monitors present in the Eastern Ukraine are from the OSCE. As far as I know, OSCE personnel doesn't use UN transportation.

Un monitors have been deployed on march 14th.

Quote
The United Nations is deploying a human rights monitoring team throughout Ukraine to help establish the facts surrounding human rights violations, including in Crimea, and de-escalate tensions in the country.

They have never been withdrawn from the country.

1677  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: June 03, 2014, 06:49:18 PM
Even Poland's GDP is greater than Ukraine and Kazakhstan's combined GDP.

Since Russia only has about $2T, I suppose Belarus will have to pick up the slack and supply the other $14T ~ $16T to be of comparable scale to the US and the EU.

I was talking about the military and the population. No where in the post I mentioned about the GDP.

You were talking about a trade union , and trading relates to the economy.
Now we're comparing the military?

Wow ,so this is the new varsovia pact that plans to have a military parade in berlin or a friendly trade union?
1678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: June 03, 2014, 06:46:09 PM
With only 1000 refugees to Crimea and none reported to eastern Russia , where did the rest go?

Majority of the refugees have arrived in Russia. Some have re-located to more peaceful areas of Donbass.

675,000 Ukrainians pour into Russia as ‘humanitarian crisis’ looms

The fact that people believe this bull to be true is just mesmerizing!! This is freaking Russian propaganda at its finest. A Ukrainian would rather get repeatedly kicked in the nuts for an hour then have to live in a country such as Russia!
1679  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: June 03, 2014, 06:42:07 PM
The Ukrainian Army has seized control of the town of Krasny Liman, after hours of fierce fighting which left a large number of people on both sides dead. The village of Semyonovka is also more or less under the control of the Ukrainian Army. There are unconfirmed reports that the Ukrainian Air Force has lost a Su-25 fighter jet in the battle for Krasny Liman.

http://lifenews.ru/news/134378

Now honestly , after this fight , do you still believe in that propaganda about elder women armed with shotguns repelling the invading nazi army? We did the same in the ww1 posting pictures of volunteers women that never actually made it to the front.

It's clear that both sides are receiving external support both in weapons and men as well as information and in the end the ones that will have the deeper pockets will be the ones winning.

And the  winner will get a deserted half a county and a bill for 20 000 000 coffins.

Obama pledges more troops & military drills in Eastern Europe

Oh... there will be no shortage of money. The US defence budget is more than $600 billion. So this is less than 1% of that. As long as the Eastern Europeans are OK with the American military presence on their soil, I am not complaining.

Following the remarks of that stupid russian minister with his bomber and the way Russia is threatening the eastern block with it's gas I want to let you know that the attitude here in Romania has shifted from 50/50 fuck the usa/russia to 10/90.

After the rt propaganda that the Romanian army will be obliterated in 30 minutes the arrival of more us fighters  as well as 6 canadian jets on our soil has been for the first time well received by the public..

Talking about shooting yourself in the foot.
