5761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin buyers at the higher prices are still holding? on: December 09, 2018, 03:51:26 AM
When BTC started breaking making headlines last year even on mainstream media, so many new people streamed in and definitely bought. If you look at eh price history of bitcoin since 2013 https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/historical-data/?start=20130428&end=20181209 you will realise that there was a sporadic price increase in the second half of last year mainly because of;
- Media attention( even my not so technical friends at-least had to ask me what bitcoin was and how they could buy it because they heard it from media)
- Speculation
which all in turn led to a higher demand for BTC

So definitely the drop in price implies that there has been a loss in interest for bitcoin from most "new buyers" who rushed in to buy in 2017 hence low demand compared to when the price was 19K.
I don't think most of them are still holding, being inexperienced in crypto trading some probably panic sold thinking that it's a bubble, Others who got sold it out for ICOs thinking that they would be the next bitcoin

5762  Other / Meta / Re: copper member on: December 08, 2018, 04:42:25 PM
3. if i give payment should my account automatically a copper member?

After you have finished sending the required BTC(while considering the transaction fee) you will have to revisit the link once the transaction gets at-least one confirmation and then wear your copper member's rank as shown below

5763  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Short now = make lots of money? on: December 08, 2018, 02:44:12 PM
There is no accurate technical analysis in cryptos my friend. Anything can happen to the BTC price in the next 24 hours. It's purely based on hope, manipulation and speculation.
Luckily the BTC price is now volatile once again. Just notice the sudden deeps, Where the price seems to have settled up a bit is where you make an entry and set your sell target( not so high of course) To me 2-5% gains is enough in this bearish market because if you try to be greedy, You will loose everything.
Also never forget to set a stop-loss in case the price doesn't rise to your expectation.
5764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dominium is a scam? on: December 08, 2018, 01:28:40 PM
I think the best boards to post this kind of information are the Scam Accusations Board and the Investigations ChildBoard ( incase you are not yet sure whether it's scam or don't have enough evidence to pin the culprit)
There you can call upon the bounty manager or manager of the project to head over the thread and answer any accusations made against their project. Failure to do so would mean that it's scam and get the culprits accounts red tagged.
5765  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Best blockchain to build dapps on?? on: December 08, 2018, 04:38:08 AM
What do you guys think?

There's MOAC, EOS, Ethereum, and NEO. What else?

Have seen so many DAPPS in the Ethereum and EOS platforms... This could mean that its easier or cheaper to build dapps on those platforms compared to NEO or MOAC
However we have more Dapp platforms like,

➖Tronix
➖ NEM
➖ QTUM
➖ Cardano
➖ Vechain
➖ Ontology
➖ Zilliqa
➖ Lisk
➖ ICON

Tried to pick ones that have a market cap of atleast over $100M
So try to check them and see... Building a Dapp on any of them could also need a specific type of skill or knowledge.
5766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remember How Excited Your Were When BTC on: December 07, 2018, 10:36:46 PM
Yes, they were good times but most times people always look at only the good times . They always think that there will only be good times without any bad times, they are totally wrong and these are the people who end up being very disappointed incase anything does not go their way because they are not prepared to see the negative side.
Some of them end up even spreading FUD and becoming trolls - More like publicly abusing your ex-wife that she's ugly yet you once nurtured and married her  Grin

5767  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading on: December 07, 2018, 09:44:20 AM
Agreed, pretty hard to predict the outcomes of the market in the next 24 hours but from where i am one thing i noticed is that there is always a deep towards the weekends and a slight rise on Monday or Tuesdays (has happened in most cases) so i usually  buy the deep on weekends and exit latest on Wednesdays before the next drop... that's what i have been doing lately.
5768  Other / Meta / Re: Can we restrict user registerations somehow? on: December 07, 2018, 09:34:29 AM
I understood. Then there is only one thing-to tighten the rules for obtaining the rank of Jr.Member to 10 merits. This will reduce spam, but will not solve the problem of one-day accounts for spam and fraud.

If this happened even today, i would also leave the forum. It would be totally demoralizing for newbies looking to rank up. This kind of attitude towards new members must stop. With this kind of restrictions, this forum will just loose it it no time and new users will just migrate to other forums with "softer" rules.
You don't want to see to a lengendary Bitcointalk forum loose it's number one spot to a new rival forum

Or, we should make different merit requirements for creating a topic in various threads, e.g. if you want to open a topic in the Beginners's section (or in the OFF topic), you don't have to have any merits, but if you want to open an [ANN] thread, you should have at least 5 merits etc.
More reason for genuine new users to go to other forums. what will stop the genuine devs from going to other forums to post their projects due to the stringent measures on bitcointalk?
Am pretty certain that the altcoin section brings in almost half of the users in here, so imagine there are little or no more ANNS of projects in the Altcoin boards due to your strict rules but instead there are quite a number of them in other crypto forums... i guess you know what will happen next.

You may not see it short term, but long term, it has an effect.
5769  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hackers in disguise on: December 06, 2018, 09:30:16 PM
# download most of your apps, from play store or apple store

Google play store is a haven of both Malicious and authentic apps, as I talked about in this post, Not all crypto apps in App stores are safe
You will realise that just downloading from Google play or appstore isn't enough. You have to use the official link from the official website of the coin/token which could just be a direct download or probably link you to an app store to their official app.

Also you have to be very vigilant, look at the number of downloads, number of reviews, positive and negative, time and pattern of reviews(very important in determining fake reviews)
5770  Other / Beginners & Help / Not all crypto apps in App stores are safe on: December 06, 2018, 07:47:38 PM
Most of us trust app stores such as google playstore while knowing that all the apps in there are verified, safe and don't have any malicious intent on our private information and funds but this is not always true.
These app stores are a sea of good and bad apps. Therefore extra steps must be taken to safeguard your funds and other sensitive information.

Time and time again I have seen articles like this Ethereum Scam App Appears on Google Play Store, Malware Researcher Reports and I just thought may I would try to alert some users here about it and how you may avoid being a victim

Am gonna look at majorly Wallets and Exchange apps. Of course, this can stretch out to other apps like trade signal apps, price alerting apps but they are not as damaging as the first two.

A. FAKE WALLET APPS

These are created with the intent to;
1. Lure you into importing your address in them thereby giving the hacker behind the wallet your private key or mnemonic phrases. The hacker later uses your private key to access your account and withdraw all the cryptos in it

2. Generate for you a public and private key which the hacker already knows, as soon as you send your digital assets into your new wallet, the hacker just withdraws it since he has access to the private key

A classic example of such fake crypto wallets is this:

B. FAKE EXCHANGE APPS

This is common especially with exchanges that are re-known in crypto trading but have no official app. Exchanges like Bittrex, Coinexchange,
Kraken, HitBTC etc
Time and time again, fake apps keep popping up in google playstore. However, on my recent check, I found out that most of them had been removed from the app store
These are created with an intent to phish your login details so that they can easily access your trading account and steal whatever asset you have kept in your exchange wallet.

How to avoid being a victim

1. Get Download links only from Official websites.
Always try as much as possible to download Exchange and Wallet apps from official site links to avoid landing on fake apps in playstore. For example, once you visit the official NEO website, you will be able to see Official and authentic wallets under the client tab; https://neo.org/client
For bitcoin's case, you can easily get your favorite wallet through the "Choose your wallet" tab which can easily be seen on the Official bitcoin Website; https://bitcoin.org/

How to get official project/coin website links?
coinmarketcap is your friend here.

2. Look at the number of downloads
If the downloads are so few, do not download. Authentic apps usually have so many downloads, at least 1000+

3. Look at the reviews
i.   So many reviews mean the app is being used by so many real users, fewer reviews could mean fake reviews.
ii.  Only positive reviews throughout is a red flag, someone is trying to make their app look good to use.
iii. Burst reviews(so many reviews at only a certain period of time) can also mean fake reviews

4. Enable 2 Factor Verifications for all your exchange accounts and emails
This will make it hard for the hacker to get into your exchange accounts and emails.

Be safe with your cryptos folks.
5771  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to read my wallet on: December 04, 2018, 09:30:25 PM
if i understood what you actually want to do, maybe you should;
- Try using bitcoin core to load that wallet.dat
- List all the addresses with the help of the console
- Then import the addresses to a Simplified Payment Verification(SPV) Wallet like Electrum or BreadWallet.
- There after you can just decide to make a watch only wallet

You could also try your luck Here if you want to try and recover that password. quite technical but give it a try.

5772  Other / Meta / Re: Can we restrict user registerations somehow? on: December 02, 2018, 11:35:39 PM
We have to let legitimate anonymous users register here and have multiple accounts.

How many alts does a legitimate user need to have 10? 20?
In my opinion 3 or 4 alts are more than enough and it's quite easy to access 4 phone numbers or non disposable emails in reality but for an account farmer or spammer, this would be a real pain to them as it would be so hard to get 100+ numbers for every new account
5773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scam?? on: December 02, 2018, 11:29:20 PM
it's obviously scam. I wish you had done a little digging before sending your BTCs to the scammer. Since tha amount is already in the hands of the scammer, there is no way of obtaining it back since BTC transactions are irreversible once confirmed

Don't feel you have lost everything, it's an experience you have learnt from and hopefully in the near future you won't be easily fooled again
Advice; "If the deal looks to good to be normal, it's scam
5774  Other / Meta / Re: Can we restrict user registerations somehow? on: December 02, 2018, 11:21:19 PM
I think something needs to be done about registration but not completely shutting it down (very bad idea)
For example i noticed that when you register on this forum, There is no confirmation link sent to your email address, i really don't know what the reason for this is but it certainly is a contributing factor to increased easy creation of fake spamming accounts ( i could just use random emails to register as many accounts as possible)

- My suggestion would be to intergrate some sort of SMS verification/Email verification per account. Once a number has been associated and verified with a given user id, one can not use it for creating another account.

- Restrict use of disposable email services for new registrations
I really don't know how easy it is to implement any of the two  but those are just my thoughts
5775  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading on: December 02, 2018, 10:36:43 PM
Which is more crucial HODL or Short Trading ?
Depends on how patient you are willing to be in order to get returns... i could choose to hodl and wait for at least 2 years so that i can cash out. Most people that are whining about the bearish trend are those who bought coins when the market was soaring high and now they are just in losses

The market currently is not favorable for holding for long term but if you are expert and can trade within short time, then trading is more prefarable than holding which will see your asset reducing day by day.

It is favorable, Those who are buying coins right now will see it as a good decision they made if the market had another excellent bullish run in the next 12 months... so what you should know is that opportunity presents it'self in different forms
5776  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: To Trade on Bitmex or Not to Trade on Bitmex That is the Question on: December 02, 2018, 10:22:32 PM
As i always believe, The higher the gains might seem, the higher the risk and loosing all you have put in.
i usually prefer small gains in the normal exchanges say between 2 to 10% is enough at least every 48 hours . Greed is what make people to get into serious losses.
5777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: EtherDelta is not a decentralize exchange on: December 02, 2018, 10:03:51 PM
I was make a research about decentralize exchanges and my idea was the orders are gathering on main net, because of this reason orders bring with costs. I saw that one of the most known decentralize exchange EtherDelta is gathering orders on private server to remove order costs. It means orders are manipulable by the owner of Ether Delta. So, I can not explain Ether Delta as a decentralize exchange. This is a delusion.

Ether Delta is not a decentralize exchange. Do you agree?
Is there any exchange really decentralize without order cost?

But of-course most of this Decentralized exchanges run on a smart-contract which has been created by someone so the have ability to control anything. In my opinion it's totally impossible to have an exchange that is completely decentralized away that the buyer and a seller deal together without any central authority.
So you either accept the semi decentralized exchanges or you go with fully centralized ones

You can check this list for decentralized exchanges.
@OmegaStarScream please check on your link, it's not working... there was a slight error

it should be like this:

5778  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hello cryptoworld after few months and bitcoin price is around $4000(!) on: December 02, 2018, 06:39:43 PM
Very hard to predict which side we might swing to. As a hodler, one does not have the pressure of always looking at the price and trying to figure out what is going to happen when but one thing for sure is that i will eventually rise. We just have to be patient.
5779  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance day trading [btc] on: December 02, 2018, 03:01:27 PM
Don't know why now the market is more stable and I see the downward trend is not visible from yesterday, then the daily trade depends on how you manage your information. What I do for btc trade is almost the same as you, see what value touches low price, speculate what percentage of increase and decrease.
Market has been actually volatile lately, something good for the day traders. The stability you are talking about was there about a month ago where there we barely any bullish or bearish movements

Day trading in Binance is kinda hard nowadays because of this bear trend. But long term trading is still the best way to trade in crypto.
Bearish trend is also necessary to make profits. Without the bearish trend you won't be able to buy the deep... i think sometimes as day traders, we have got to be a little patient until the price reaches our sell target.
5780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is it to put everything in one cryptocurrency? on: December 01, 2018, 10:03:31 PM
I've been thinking a lot about this issue. I heard more than once that many are discussing this topic. Is it safe to invest everything in one, two cryptocurrencies? Or to distribute all the money in all the coins available for this amount?
Spreading your portfolio is the best thing you can ever do for the money invested. I can help you absorb the losses in case the price of one of the coins drops. It can also be good in the even that one coin raises in price more than the others
