1961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 6 Crypto Currencies to Hold Long on: February 17, 2014, 01:24:56 PM
There are only two really.

Bitcoin and Litecoin

Anything beyond this is risky and not likely going to happen.

If you are looking for what I hold, well its most of the older coins and some of the newer coins. I believe that they will all go up but not a single one will ever replace BTC.

I give you an F for the 50 million premine.

Okay, so now, after more than a year, looks like this one turned out to be a good coin. Congratz and good luck with it.
1963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Optimizing sapphire R9 280x Vapor-x on: February 16, 2014, 05:04:12 PM
I have some new info, well old for me. I should have posted here earlier.

I got a few more of these cards and found that they had different memory manufacturers, thus needing different params to run. The 8192 tc and 2 threads seems to be the correct setting but the VRMs were running at 110 degrees! hot as hell. You guys need to load GPU-Z and check the VRM temps of your cards. If you haven't flashed them with optimized bioses from the litecoin forums you may be burning up your cards.

After identifying the memory as Elpida I found modded bioses by a user named Stilt. You can find them here : https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=12369.msg93754#msg93754

That thread has all the information you need to know to correct this problem. With the modded bios my VRMS (voltage regulators) are running at 60 degrees. The memory settings are also tweaked nicely for 1500/1044 allowing for undervolting 1.088 or less. The cards run quiet, cool, efficient and produce 725Kh/s with these settings.

--lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 11280 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

Memory 1500
Core 1044
VDDC 1.088

1964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think would happen if BTC "died"? on: February 16, 2014, 04:51:11 PM
How can Bitcoin die? this is a silly question. The world uses it. If it were to die that would mean that all of us are dead first, hence no one to use it.  Roll Eyes

Planet killer comet/astroid impact is my prediction for when Bitcoin dies.

1965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Coin Wayne - Crypto Currency inspired by Lil Wayne [6 DAYS LEFT] on: February 16, 2014, 04:17:04 PM
Anyways, according to Lil Wayne's tatoos (facial tears) four of them. I believe that means he has murdered four people. So why would anyone support this low life?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teardrop_tattoo
"In the United States, it can mean the wearer has killed someone"
"In a 2008 interview with Blender, Rapper Lil Wayne said of his four teardrop tattoos: "Lord, forgive me".[5][6] He did not say what he was asking forgiveness for."
quote from that wiki page.

I want whine about one more thing. First giveaway was 5 SDM! You premined 1,000,000 SDM.

Yeah, we maybe whining, but you mr. dev are ripping us off. So mine your own spoderman coin. fag.

Maybe the rogue developer who is launching all these same name coins will copy this name and make a proper spoderman coin.

1972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spoderman Coin (SDM) LAUNCHED on: February 15, 2014, 09:24:31 PM
Not going waste hashpower to this before block 399. Take hours and after block 399 you will get every block more than the total of blocks 1-399. Some may think its fair but I think first miners should get most, now they just waste time and power.

Miners think the same way, no one is mining this.

#1 difficulty adjusted too fast. You need to let us instamine a bit.

#2 low block reward at the beginning has been proven to be fatal to a coin in the past.

If the dev can change this and upload new binaries/source then maybe there is a chance. Otherwise this will go the way of dead coins sooner rather than later.

Almost forgot the most important part.

#3 - 1% premine - You take 1 million coins and give is .1 per block. You think this is funny? We think you are a fucking idiot. If you take 1% premine you let us instamine to block 20K at least.

Yeah, point #3 makes this coin a dead off the starting line.

CryptoApples - same shit different day.

Post wallet on another download site please. Your website is saturated.

part of the scam ... posted on a $1 per year shared sever,.... lol great foresight.... this dev is going places.

The P2Pools are showing 1Gh on the network from the start. You are correct its part of the plan scam.

I understand the rational behind high diff from the beginning, it does help prevent the bulldozing of instamining.  But it also kills the "regular" folks desire to get involved in the community and these are the people who will make or break the longevity of the coin.  If you essentially turn off the regular joes from a coin by making it too inaccessible, then the coin has no community to build within.  Just my 2 cents.

I agree with this statement. I think it would be better to allow an instamine at the beginning. Allowing early adopters a bonus, then the gravity well algo kicks in. Maybe the first 10K blocks get instamined. This also gets more coins out onto the exchange for trading.

1978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][STCY] StacyCoin on: February 15, 2014, 02:39:16 PM
Making this GPU proof is simple. Make it a primecoin fork with low starting difficulty around 7.0 or less. This will allow everyone with lower end cpus a chance at finding a block before the difficulty gets too high and favors only the overclocked i7's

A primecoin fork will also keep most of the pool operators away.

no it wont.. all it will do is give a botnet operator a very good chance at taking most of the coins.

Yup  Wink

I'm surprised that more people are not mining this, maybe they were turned off by the initial low reward during the first 24 hours.

1980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ♦ [ ANN ][ MIM ] ♦ Magic Internet Money ♦ Do you believe in magic? ♦ on: February 15, 2014, 04:40:25 AM
Just as i thought i mined 20k coins and they just kicked me out of the pool after posting here

Sick and tired of these thieving duchebags you only hurt yourself !!!!!!

DO NOT USE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thieves?  Surely your not talking about MIM.  =S

stablehash pool

EDIT - for the record got paid around 4500 coins after about 1hour been using another pool since and have over 20k already with no coins taken.

When speaking positively about another pool, name them just in case someone experiences the same issue you have and want to switch.  Smiley

The block reward only increased a few hours ago. Maybe the blocks were only worth 1000 still while you were on stablehash and ramped up to 40,000 when you switched. Maybe stablehash is scammers. I dont know, I'm just speculating.
