1741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you want to see in Activecoin (ACT) rewards, diff, Pre Announce thread on: April 25, 2014, 09:50:49 PM
Okay so I'm assuming that you are making this coin to be traded on exchanges? Pumped and dumped as everyone says. They go with the above suggestions. My only addition to their comments is to not use scrypt. If you want to make a PoW/PoS Quark clone with KGW you can fork Probe. X11 is over done now, Groestl is kewl and gives the nVidia crowd an advantage for once. All three run much cooler than scrypt. There are other algos as well that I'm not as familiar with. Most are cooler and less power consuming that scrypt.

Now, maybe you have some awesome idea for a coin? Thinking about using PTS snapshot is a good idea if you have a good idea for a DAC. Unfortunately, It doesn't sound like you are on this path. Correct me if I am wrong.

Quote from: DLow
I'm not saying dev will dump, but I'm surely not setting my rigs up to "donate" my efforts / electricity / money / work to someone else..?!

Of course you won't, because everything in life comes for free right? Servicing nodes, paying development costs off all sorts, marketing that goes beyond bitcointalk hype. Not every person with right skills is so altruistic as you are and unfortunately they do require incentive to spend their time, skills and effort to create something meaningful.
What sort of "effort" on your part are you talking about? Every miner would be getting full amount (so you are not donating anything by reducing your income) but small contribution on top for ongoing support and development of the coin will be sent to a newly formed Foundation. Foundation which in transparent way will show what the coins are spent on with the clear progress bar. If you think this is not value added to the coin please wake up.

If the people marketing this coin believe in its success and the traction it'll gain why don't they set up a community pool with a 5% donation? So whoever supports the coin can mine there, those who don't can mine on one of the 0-2% pools.

The .05 / block is much better than giving them 1% off the get go. This way they are paid for their efforts over time like in the real world. They have incentive to stay and help the coin progress. This also gives incentive to new developers coming on board and old ones going away. There will always be a steady income for them. I think its a great idea and way better than the devs having 20K coins from the start and giving them away to pools and exchanges as bribes. Then they all dump and we have seen what that does to coins.

1744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Asiacoin to rival bitcoin on: April 22, 2014, 05:01:10 PM
Lol, what you see are just bagholders of bitcoin responding.....

Its always the same story the first one want to stay at the top no matter what happens.

I would gladly be a bagholder of bitcoins as that would make me a millionaire.
1745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GOOD] 1st of its kind! Half Scrypt, Half Human Mining! on: April 22, 2014, 01:55:10 PM
Sounds good, I like it. I wonder if the people complaining about the premine actually even read about the coin.

You are too trusting, I guess you haven't been here long enough. Whats stopping the coin copier from dumping his premine on exchanges once the coin gains some value? Oh wait, I know, we can trust him because he says so...

1746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Hashcoin [HASH] - DGW2 - Automatic Checkpointing - X11 ~ Stable! on: April 22, 2014, 12:51:19 PM
For how long was the difficulty of this coin stuck at .1 diff?  How long at .4 diff?

How many coins were instamined in the first few hours?  How many coins were mined because of the low difficulty that wouldn't adjust in the first few hours? What percentage of the coin ended up in the hands of just a few miners?  Whether you intended it or not.  This coin has the biggest instamine I have ever seen.

Let me guess. Someone doesn't make a pre-announced coin. You get all pissy and complain no matter what. Maybe you would like a 100BTC IPO like every other coin? (those would be the biggest instamine ever).

You want to know what the biggest instamine ever was? Bitcoin - two years of instamine.

-6 trader history? You should be banned. Your word means nothing.

Stop wasting your time, no one is going to buy this coin. Everyone knows it was instamined to hell.

Again, you are not getting the point.
Your reward strategy is anti-miner. Your bounty and development/promotion premine is too high. Miners get nothing while those guys get everything. See now? you need BALANCE.

MisO69,

Thank you for sharing your opinion.
Our primary focus is on two things - development and promotion.
A coin which has both would have a good value and there will be enough miners who would be happy with the profit they are getting.

On the other hand, if we follow the rule you proposed and take a commission of 0.2% from each block, it would take a year before we gather enough coins to pay for Android wallet or to publish an article.

No miner will wait for a year and the coin would be dead before it got any promotion. And we don't think that's the way TWC miners would want us to follow.

That wasn't what I was suggesting.

The income you get from the coin, the developer payment (salary if you will) should be taken block by block, like us miners. Its more fair this way and keeps the developers and promoters paid and gives them a reason to stay with the coin.

The bounties and bribe money for the exchanges should be taken immediately at block 0 and held in public escrow. Where anyone can see the ledger and only the escrow service has access to the coins.

With these two things, good promotion and fair distribution you will have a very successful coin.

1751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SECRET] Secret Coin - ██ coin - ██ confirmations on: April 21, 2014, 01:35:03 PM
Funny, redacted for our own safety. What we don't know can't hurt us. lol. The conspiracy theorist in me finds this coin appealing.

1752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TWC] TwilightCoin | X11 Coin with Fair Mining | Fast block | ASIC-proof on: April 20, 2014, 02:26:12 PM
Basically  you gonna be holding 432000 Coins while a regular miner with 1mh/s will get around 4 coins a day thats not fair, i pass on this one...

That's not true, most of those coins will be used as bounties and payments to developers and promoters.
If you can promote Twilight Coin or do any development we will pay you for that too.

There is no coin which promoted itself, it's always people who do the job.
So if you think it's unfair - come on in, join us.

For example, we need a couple of block explorers to be created.
Please let us know if you can help.

Again, you are not getting the point.

smells bad, 0.5 premine doesn't sound like much but considering how low rewards are this means devs will hold huge bags, that is a no no for me, plenty of fair coins to support without crap premine/ipo.

Yeah, and you want devs to do everything for you for free.
Sounds like a good plan  Grin

another no no http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=twilightcoin.com  all hidden info ( not too suprised tho )

along with you being a brand new account criticizing me lol

ticker fits it perfectly as well TWC thisweekscoin lol
all it takes is 1 minute to figure this one out.

Thanks for pointing out the massive pre-mine. They hide it with a smaller percentage than most but the block reward is a dead giveaway. This centralizes the coin in their control. They can crash the price at any time and no one else can. A fair premine for development would be .2% of each block. Then no one can crash the price of the coin by dumping it.

1754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What three altcoins do you have the majority of your money in? on: April 16, 2014, 03:56:44 PM

1755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Cinni :: 100% PoS :: Fair distribution on: April 16, 2014, 12:34:09 PM
Not just another PoS coin. This one has a very talented developer with foresight and a vision. Its just amazing what he is doing with a QT wallet. This coin will be rivaling DRK one day.

1756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Global Denomination (GDN) - No Premine! Launch 17/04/2014 on: April 16, 2014, 02:55:50 AM
Make it X11 and this coin may indeed dominate.

We have been looking into X11

Checkout Groestl as well, its even more energy efficient. Same miner.

1758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: wtf is wrong with the nxt code? NAS the latest GREEDY distribution model on: April 15, 2014, 08:06:31 PM
A little off topic,

With all these PoS coins around are there any that are actually worth investing in? I haven't done much research on PoS coins and thought it may be time to buy some, or not...

I'm not sure, my trading advice is deadly i would not inflict that on anyone.

Make a thread, and ask. POS seems a good way to go for energy efficiency... a lot of coins will introduce it soon i'm sure.

So back to nxt and the clones...

who can clone nxt and give more than 11 people a  fair chance at getting a reasonable amount.

I would be into a new PoS NXT or other clone that is fairly distributed. Faircoin attempted some sort of fair distribution, but then shit happened, the devs either got greedy or they fucked up. Blackcoin seems to be doing okay, it was distributed with PoW as we all know.

So I guess the real question is how to distribute a PoS coin fairly?

Facebook? - no many alts can be created and some people already have that.
Captcha with IP address verification - no some people have access to many IP addresses. Sysadmins for instance.
Airdrop - scams with centralized control
BTCTalk accounts? - no many alternate accounts held by members.
IPO - no it doesn't work for fair distribution.

I don't know if this is possible but how about this approach -

We take an established coin and use its addresses for fair distribution for this example lets say we decide to use LTC. A snapshot of the LTC blockchain is taken at a set date. The PoS coin uses the addresses to hand out coins. If you have say 5 addresses in your LTC wallet you'll be able to import those into the new PoS coin and for each one you get a set amount of new PoS coins. Can something like this work? Kinda like what Protoshares does.

hmm yes well certainly that would see more than 11 people get a substantial share. But what about people with no ltc and some with 500k ltc... it makes the rich richer.

Better would be...

premine it all up.....

10bn minting for example...

sell for 1m = 0.01 BTC until all sold max any user account on here can buy on here is 10M at the initial buy in price...  have to be registered before the date of release.

All btc held by escrow level person and used in a transparent way for projects and such in future.

2% of the minting held back by escrow level member for the devs released over a time period that is suitable.

Nothing is perfect of course but giving 71% to 11 people is just crazy, things are meant to get better not worse.

I'm sure way smarter persons than myself could think up even better ways however as yet i have not seen anything even as good as that.

I don't think you understood my idea, everyone with an LTC address gets the same amount of coins. It has nothing to do with how much they hold. The way to cheat is someone who has generated hundreds of addresses ahead of time, for some reason or another. The guy with no LTC and a wallet also gets some. LTC doesn't have to be used. It can be any coin. Maybe doge would be a better choice. I'm just thinking of the best distribution model where no one has to pay anything for the coins. The bad part of this method is if you never downloaded the wallet of the clone blockchain then your out of luck.

Yes, I totally agree with your take on NAS its fucked.
1759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most interesting Alt coin in the world? on: April 15, 2014, 07:57:59 PM
Protoshares(Bitshares-PTS), because it has a real company behind it with paid programers and what looks like a bright future for all of their up coming DACS.

1760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Hashcoin (HASH) - X11 - DGW V2 - Automatic Checkpoints - Instant Confirms! on: April 15, 2014, 12:44:02 PM
I have added Hashcoin to The CPU Coin List

Does anyone know if there was a premine? I didn't see that info or just missed it.

No premine, just instamine  Grin

It was not instamined. Diff was low, ninja launch, and the small hashers got in quick Wink

Sorry but HASH is still valuable and people trolling this coin saying "instamine" have no idea what they are even talking about or are just hating because they missed the launch. Hashcoin is still really good to mine at the current low diff.

I threw my 30 GPUs at launch and raped this coin for an hour. When I realized the difficulty was fucked I left.

No one will buy it.
