Hi FruitsBasket. Unfortunately, the starting bankroll you declared is less than the minimum allowed by the rules:

1442  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any impact of the Russian SU24 shot down by Turkey (NATO)? on: November 25, 2015, 09:57:49 AM
Until Russia counter and Turkish is condemned for violations of Geneva Code when they killed 2 pilots that were falling with parachutes, no.

So I think you still have some hours to take your position

Actually, one of the pilots has been rescued by Syrian and Russian special forces, while the other was apparently killed, on the ground, by Turkmen rebels (whom Turkey is supporting in their fight against the Syrian government, and Russia attacking) - whether or not he was given the chance to surrender, as required by international law, I don't know.

As for Russia's counter, I imagine it will follow somewhat along what gurcani implied: resource access and economic punishment (even though I doubt it will be that drastic, or immediate; I don't believe destabilizing Turkey is really in Russia's interests - at least for now).

So, I doubt bitcoin will be affected by this, one way or the other.

Why don't you bet with DirectBet or other On-chain bookies?

Short: Because I don't want to end up loosing money. On betting size <0.1BTC

Long: Because of the transaction fees. Let's assume we are making 500 bets per month and we won 250 of them. This mean we will need to pay 500+250 = 750 x 0.0001 BTC = STUNNING 0.075 BTC or a whole 25% of our bankroll!

If you are following my picks with a bigger bankroll and have a bet size of at least 0.1 BTC, then if you prefer you could use on-chain betting without any substantial loss.

Actually, I think you can now avoid this issue in DirectBet by using their on-site Playing Wallet. According to their description:

You can also use it to fund your Sport bets in our award winning Sportsbook. This will ensure that all your bet transfers arrive and confirm instantly so you won't miss any action.

By the way, FrueGreads and I are running a small tipster competition on the forum, sponsored by DirectBet, and we would like to invite you to join us. The tournament has seven paid places (where participants can win up to 3.5 BTC), plus consolation prizes for everyone else.

Update on Prizes
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1256522.msg42679054#msg42679054

Important Update

Hello everyone, sorry for the late update, but as u9y42 pointed out, I was away most of the day.

As promised I would like to announce that our Tipster Championship is back, and our new sponsor is BetKing.io!

We will try to go live on the 1st August, just in time for the start of the major European Football Leagues, so that you don't miss good betting opportunities, while at the same time get the chance to win some great prizes, making your betting experience much better!

As for the competition format, things are almost all decided, but as usual we listen, so feel free to make suggestions and if we can we will add them. If we can't add them for this first opening edition, we will try to do it on the next one if possible.

We will make an official announcement with all the rules, but right now this is our plan:

- Betting bankroll of $50 (Bitcoin equivalent)
- Valid bets will need to have a stake of at least 1% of current bankroll, and will have a max of 5% (of course tat if they are above 5%, you will still get paid, but wins will only be calculated for the leaderboard as if they were made with a 5% stake)
- We will consider daily ROI% and award competition points based on that value.

We will have 3 different formats, so that everyone can get something out of our competition:

- Daily Challenges: Like the ones we had before. We will give you a Betting Challenge and the winner will get a daily prize based on that.

- Weekly Competition: As said before our daily ROI% will award you points. At the end of the week, the players with more points will get their prizes. Points will reset every week for this weekly format, so that everyone has a chance to win these prizes as well.

- Monthly Competition: Although we will give most of the prizes on our Weekly Format, we still want to reward those that are able to make good bets during the entire month. For the Monthly Format, we will not reset the points, and at the end of the month we will award prizes for a small number of players. Our Tipster Kings for the month!

We want to keep everyone engaged in our new Tipster Championship!!!
So with these three options:
- You will be making your normal bets while winning fast daily prizes!
- If you have a good week, you will get even more rewards. If that week wasn't so good, don't worry, because you will have a chance to start all over again on the next week, since we reset weekly points!
- If you are that good, and keep getting good results week after week, we will be noticing and you will get more prizes at the end of the month!

So no matter what happens, you will always have chances to win prizes while you are doing what you like, that is betting!
I think it's hard to beat this, but as I said before, please make suggestions if you have them.

More news about how to register will come soon, as well as the official rules and prizes for our competition.
Stay tuned!

Id create the topic and see how it goes. If noone takes interest you can always lock the thread and forget the idea but most likely youll see a few ppl paying attention

Hmm, no, I meant: is it the appropriate section for that sort of thing?

Yes you can, there is no other gambling section in the forum so it would be appropriate, you wont break any rules, dont worry.

I would imagine that to be the case, but we've had both the main competition thread and the registration thread moved from Gambling to Games and Rounds, so we're sort of wondering if the same thing won't happen to this thread as well.
1447  Other / Meta / Promoting Competition in Gambling on: November 20, 2015, 12:35:45 AM
I have been helping FrueGreads run a tipster competition in the forum, and was wondering if it would be appropriate to create a thread in Gambling to promote it, and perhaps, keep a discussion going on about it there, with tactics the participants can use, correct bank management, and so on. The main competition thread is currently in Games and Rounds (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1159253).
1448  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Will give 1 usd (btc) to the winners on: November 19, 2015, 07:53:25 PM
Update: after choosing the winners, I'll open up a poll, and whoever will be voted with the funniest joke, I'll send him/her 5 usd on Paypal! Cheesy

Well, $5 isn't a lot, but it's probably sufficient incentive for users with multiple accounts to try and game the poll; so, you might want to reconsider how the winner will be chosen (or, at least, add some form of restrictions to the poll).

[...]

@Mitchell, I saw a kind of same thread as this, but then in indonesian forum but that one is much bigger and contains more sig campaigns, how is that possible?

Not only does that thread1 include avatar campaigns, and is not up to date (many of the campaigns shown there have already ended), as Mitchełł pointed out, but it also includes other types of campaigns that usually aren't included/are outside the point of this thread: Twitter and Facebook specific campaigns, signature campaigns with altcoin payments (is there an up-to-date thread of these somewhere?), and other campaigns with questionable reward structures. Anyway, the thread is also locked, at the moment (and is self-moderated). Tongue

1 - I'm referring to the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962343; there is however, one older, more limited, thread by the same user.
1450  Economy / Services / Re: Working for BTC on: November 19, 2015, 05:50:03 PM
https://www.xbtfreelancer.com/projects.php is the largest out there. 5.5k freelancers and about 3-5 projects every day.
He clearly mentioned he wants to work for BTC , there are about 1000 freelancing sites with 100000 projects paying in dollars .He wants to earn btc that's why he's here in the first place.

And, appropriately enough, it seems payments in that site are exclusively made in BTC - hence the XBT in XBTFreelancer. However, they have made the questionable (although understandable) decision to show the amounts involved in USD.

As the site puts it:

Employers pay for projects in bitcoin
Freelancers get paid in bitcoin

* 100% bitcoin site. Build-in escrow service. Amounts stated in USD for clarity purposes only.

By the way, it's probably too late to point this out now, but you repeated "could" twice in the FAQ from the OP, in the following sentence:

1454  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: III FREE Tipster Competition -sponsored by DirectBet- (Main Thread) on: November 16, 2015, 10:33:35 PM
I think that the reason can be, because your bet is too small to be counted for Competition

No, the bet was exactly 1% of his current bankroll, and was accepted.

Hello guyz Smiley

I don't get this.

My Bk is 100 mbtc, I bet 1 mbtc and won, the odd is 2.4

I should have had 102.4
not "1.53 mBTC 101.53 mBTC 1.53 %"

Without counting the little bonus +7% from DB, i'm not sure if it's still on.

https://directbet.eu/BetStatus.cshtml?BetID=1B9kJdniYyJQbneBf7yduM3ML8JzWqVUPL

The bonus given per bet is now 13% of the wagered amount. As for the rest, I think it all checks out: you made a bet with 0.001 BTC, at odds of 2.4, and won 0.00253 BTC (that is, you spent 0.001 BTC to place the bet, and received 0.0024 BTC + 13% of the original amount, or 0.00013 BTC) - so, you end up with 101.53 mBTC.

1 - from the anime Excel Saga; I don't remember the specific episode, unfortunately.

EDIT: as for less extreme measures, it might help if you have a regular sleep schedule (and sleep in a dark and quiet room) - are you missing any of those things?
1457  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: III FREE Tipster Competition -sponsored by DirectBet- (Main Thread) on: November 16, 2015, 08:13:58 PM

Hmm, please note that this bet was made with less than 1% of your current bankroll1, marketingcoin, and as such, won't count towards your participation in the competition.

1 - your current bankroll is 3000000 DOGE, and this specific bet was made with 14000 DOGE - it should have been made with at least 30000 DOGE.
1458  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: III FREE Tipster Competition -sponsored by DirectBet- (Registration Thread) on: November 16, 2015, 06:39:25 PM
