1561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: September 13, 2015, 05:13:30 PM
I don't play minecraft and didn't ever, but could you tell us in detail maybe about the experience with PipsTycoon, how much do they pay, the rates and so on?

Well, that can vary a lot; as a quick example, up to about a week ago, I was already making close to $0.80 a day, through work alone (which takes a couple of minutes; working itself consists of pressing a single button, so in reality you spend that time searching for, and buying, the energy in the market) - since then, I've been making about $0.20 a day.

However, the reason for that discrepancy is perhaps more interesting than the raw values: salaries, item and energy prices, taxes (or their absence), bonuses, and so on, are all set by the players themselves - either individually, if you own the company, or the item you are selling/renting; or "socially", in a game-wide voting system. Of course, all this affects the in-game budget and, when players get too greedy, or can't agree on a common, sensible economic policy, the whole thing comes crashing down - which has been a periodic occurrence so far. I think you're right that the criterion for evil points is whether or not the IP was used for abuse, but it's not that hard to check whether a node is a TOR exit node, the TOR project tells you how to do it here: https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/TorDNSExitList

Oh, I guess that part would be pretty simple then. Cheesy

Still, I assume (maybe incorrectly) that other such services won't be as easy to identify; and in the end, I'm not sure it even makes sense to pursue that.
1563  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 12, 2015, 09:51:27 AM
It can be transferred over via admin intervention. In fact this thread was transferred over to Mitchell.

Out of curiosity, was that from when he changed his username from bitcoininformation to Mitchełł? (because, if I remember correctly, Mitchełł simply created another thread when he took over from Rannasha last year)

Well, there is not way around the customer service. I had an issue, too, some time ago and they need a few days to respond. Try it again and be a little patient.

Wondering if anyone can assist me here.  I signed up for the Bitcoin-Scratchticket campaign and have met my requirements for posting, however i seemed to have forgotten my username/password to log in.  Can anyone assist me on how to recover this.  I messaged customer service and heard nothing.  Thank you in advance.

Hmm, don't they have a dedicated thread for their site or, perhaps, a user that can be contacted when problems come up (either with the signature campaign, or the site itself)?

September 12th payments were sent out. TXID: https://blockchain.info/tx/a14bf90fb428cbcffe13d30c9b8af6af97272fef5af02ff3e87b6baeceecc4fb

Thanks for your participation everyone! If you were paid today, you're free to remove your signature and look elsewhere for another campaign. If you think there's an issue with your payment, send me a PM and we'll sort it out.

Thank you. Smiley
1565  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is escrowing for yourself using a secret alt OK? on: September 11, 2015, 11:58:00 PM
I also voted "No".

I don't usually engage in many trades (in fact, I think I only ever did one trade so far around here, signature campaigns apart), but I imagine I would be pretty unhappy if I caught someone doing that to me - not only would that be an abuse of the trust I had placed in that user, but it would also expose me to unnecessary risk, in case things went wrong (because, as pointed out several times so far, there would effectively be no escrow).
1566  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can you tell me, who is Trump? on: September 11, 2015, 11:32:16 PM
i really want to know who really is Donald Trump?

A reality TV celebrity whose main claim to fame is the fraudulent claim to be a billionaire, even though his net worth is nowhere near that.

Careful there - he'll sue you! Cheesy

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/5347989/Donald-Trump-sues-writer-for-calling-him-millionaire-not-billionaire.html

If Trumped gets into the oval office one of first duties may be having Edward Snowden done in, he said this Donald Trump on Edward Snowden: Kill the ‘traitor’

What a fat prick he is.

Well, maybe not - it wouldn't be the first time he backtracks on something he said; in fact, I doubt he even remembers who Snowden is (assuming he actually ever cared enough to know what he was talking about in the first place, and wasn't just going with the flow). Tongue
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: September 11, 2015, 11:29:38 PM
It was but i don't know if it is still available earning bitcoins while playing counter strike, that would be perfect for gamers. Which games are you playing to earn bitcoin btw?

Hmm, currently, only PipsTycoon - it's still in Beta and fairly recent (maybe 2 months old?), but I was able to get about 0.05 BTC from it so far (playing a couple of minutes a day). Before that, I used to play GoldenTowns and MarketGlory (though this last one didn't actually have a way to withdraw BTC directly).

Another game I would like to have tried (and ended up never trying) was MineCraft in a server that supposedly paid players per unique block they mined - does anyone know if that is still active? Smiley
1568  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst mistake you did with Bitcoin? on: September 11, 2015, 10:47:08 PM
Most of people are regretting about transaction that they made on the past , I personally don't regrest any transaction I made , the only mistake I did and I regret is that I wasen't an early adopter , I could've be a millionaire by now most likely if I did  Cry

I would say the worst mistake I made was not believing in it when I first heard of it a few years ago. I would have been rich by now.  Sad

My feelings exactly - I had heard of Bitcoin relatively early on, and even went on to mention it to a couple of friends but, unfortunately, between the little I knew about it at the time, and being too lazy to learn more (and having failed to convince any of my friends to look into it), I ended up forgetting almost all about it until late 2013, when the price took off.

But, even if things had gone differently, I'm not convinced I would be a millionaire by now; between the temptation to sell along the way, or perhaps through investing in some "too good to be true" business/scam, I would probably have lost most coins anyway. Cheesy

1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: September 11, 2015, 09:55:10 PM
My first bitcoins came from Primedice signature campaign way back September 2014. From then on, I started to buy a little amount of btc every month and I have never failed to do so for the past 10 months.

How'd you get your first bitcoins (faucets aside) and what did you do to them?

Faucets aside, my first Bitcoins also came from PrimeDice (0.03 BTC), but back in December 2013 in my case. Smiley

From then on, I've been participating in signature campaigns in order to accumulate more coins (as well as a couple of online games that pay out in Bitcoin, and a little in trading), while doing my best not to sell them - I haven't been as successful at that as I would like though. Tongue

1571  Economy / Lending / Re: Loans? on: September 11, 2015, 08:36:40 PM
I think collateral would be the only way I to do it safely, is there a service that you can use as an independent third party to "hold" the car title, (or whatever) until both parties are satisified?

As RodeoX pointed out, the independent third party to hold the collateral would be an escrow - several trusted members on this forum provide this service.

Take a look at the following thread for an updated list (well, last updated late last month) of escrows: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0; and also, this post/thread for what is usually considered to be safe collateral, and what isn't: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577765.msg6311902#msg6311902.
1572  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: how much can you make weekly? on: September 11, 2015, 08:09:43 PM
You all promoting sign campaigns forget one important thing:
every one cannot participa at sign campaigns.
Follow the topics on this forum about it...
it's not unlimited ans good payinf campaigns are quickly complete.
And if to much "ask" then the "bet" will very decrease...it's the law of the market.

And this is exactly the same with faucets...the more we have claimers (globally) the more the rewards will decrease(globally)

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to faucets, but I'm under the impression that faucets never pay as much as they get from each visitor to the site - am I wrong? (that is, assuming a well managed site, with adequate revenue sources)

I suppose that, when it comes to signature campaigns, you're right: not everyone can participate in them. But at the same time, the more participants there are, the more activity the whole forum gets, and the more it might be profitable to advertise within it, creating the space for more campaigns to show up. Then again, this might just be wishful thinking on my part. Smiley
1573  Economy / Digital goods / Re: WTS Dota 2 Steam/Account on: September 11, 2015, 07:52:40 PM
cant you easily get back your account after selling it by writing to steam and telling it was stolen?

I also suspect that is the case, if the seller wishes to do so.

According to "Reclaiming a Stolen or Hijacked Steam Account", from Steam Support, to recover the account, the seller would need the original email address used to register the account (though I imagine one can claim it was hacked as well), and proof of ownership, in the form of Credit Cards or Bank Transfers associated with the account, CD Keys, or Steam Wallet Codes. All in all, this seems a risky trade.
1574  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC for NETELLER on: September 11, 2015, 07:06:36 PM
Selling BTC for Neteller, Trusted members only with Escrow.

Stock - BTC 2

I haven't tried it myself, and it isn't 1:1 but, if you don't find someone willing to do this trade, you can try using https://www.coinimal.com - they apparently take a deposit fee (into Neteller) of 2.5%, and have a daily limit of €500 for unverified accounts1 - it seems to be limited to EUR, although you should be able to convert it to USD in Neteller (probably losing a bit more in fees).

1 - based on a post by TwinWinNerD, here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1001714.msg12373438#msg12373438.
1575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can you tell me, who is Trump? on: September 11, 2015, 07:00:56 PM
He is the next American president according to the latest pools.
He will keep migrants (Mexicans) away from the borders...
He will... He will...
Heard once when he get asked for something (forgot it) that he will study about it when he will become president.

Bah, like all politicians 'yes we can' before elections and after it will be 'no we can't cuz...'

I think you're referring to when he was asked if he knew who Hassan Nasrallah, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Abu Mohammad al-Julani and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi are (you know, from Hezbollah, al-Qaeda, ISIS), to which he admitted he didn't know, and later complained those were "like, history questions", and that in his "first day in office, or before then, the day after the election, I'll know more about it than you will ever know" - adding also that "I will be so good at the military, your head will spin".

Please don't vote for this guy...

Donald Trump is the only person who can save the United States of America from the evil reign of the Pinocchibitch. And if he succeeds in that, then the probability is that the chances for a WW3 will be evaporated. But at the same time, chances will greatly increase for an invasion of the Southern United States by Mexico and its allies.

I'm not so sure Billary will win the Democratic party nomination - Bernie Sanders has been getting a lot of attention, even as the mainstream media tries to ignore him. Tongue
1576  Other / Meta / Re: proxy ban/tor use question on: September 11, 2015, 05:25:09 PM
I was thinking that since this forum detects whether someone is using TOR...  Perhaps there could be some sort of flag on the user to let others know they are attempting to hide their IP?

Hmm, if I understood it correctly, the forum can't exactly detect whether someone is using TOR; rather, it simply keeps a list of often abused IPs (TOR exit nodes being prominently featured there).

But, even if it was possible, there are a couple of issues with that idea: even if those users weren't flagged, they could still be using a previously unknown proxy/TOR exit node/whatever; anyone relying on that information could thus be mislead (be given a false sense of security); and more important, personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to hide your IP in the first place - sure, scammers probably do it, but scamming isn't the only reason why you would want to do it.
1577  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 11, 2015, 02:35:16 PM
Mitchełł, would you like me to take over? I should be able to update it on a daily basis / every few days, at least (starting this weekend).

I wonder how is that possible? I haven't seen to give thread rights to edit it? I check a thread in local/indonesian which is updated every few days.

Well, it might be possible to transfer ownership of a thread and/or post from one user to another, but I suppose it would be better to create another thread (probably still following the format Mitchełł has for the OP) - a post could then be left here redirecting to the new overview thread, while this one could safely be locked, to avoid confusion.
1578  Other / Meta / Re: Can Someone please explain properly why my rank is still newbee? on: September 11, 2015, 12:45:08 PM
Say if i reach 120+ posts till the end of this month then will i be ranked "Full member" in the end of the month itself or i have to wait till november?

As --Encrypted-- explained, you'll have to wait until November, 24, before you can become a Full Member (and that, assuming you post at least once in every two week period, and make at least 120 posts in total). For reference, the next two week period starts this Tuesday, the 15th of September.

To clarify, and repeating what others already pointed out, your forum rank doesn't depend on how long ago you registered, or even on your post count alone; it depends on your activity, which normally increases at a maximum of 14 points every 2 weeks, as you make posts. In your case, as you have not posted enough to gain all the activity you're entitled to, you'll be able to get a bit more (up to 42 activity points this period).
1579  Economy / Gambling / Re: try your chess skills for bitcoin on: September 11, 2015, 01:55:30 AM
An avid chess player cannot beat top-tier chess software, which is free. Stockfish has a rating of 3000+ and the top player in the world plays at a rating of ~2800
that's pretty insane but for someone to have programmed that wouldn't they have been able to produce a score that is 3000+ also? , or am i just completely wrong

Well, no, that's not really how it works. In this case, computer programs rely first and foremost in their capacity to quickly look ahead through the large number of available moves, analyzing every possible course of action and its consequence, within a set time frame (optimized with some clever algorithms, so they don't actually waste time checking any and every move) - something that a human player just can't really do as well, or as fast (even if they know how that process works in theory).

This is the reason it's hard to make any PVP based casino game. When people smell money they will spend long hours making hacks to take advantage of the system and PvP games need to receive a lot of input from the player's computer, which is a weakness.

There are at least a few ways to overcome the advantage computers have: one way could be to increase the number of possible moves in a game; another could be to avoid perfect information games (where both/all players have access to all available information on the status of the game).
1580  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk loading slow? on: September 11, 2015, 12:18:57 AM
Happens for me too. A couple of nights ago it was taking minutes to load a page while everything else was fine. Par for the course.
Everything is fine for me.  What browsers are you guys using?

I'm using Firefox, and I also experience a few slowdowns once in a while - the latest a couple of hours ago - but no 502 errors recently though. These don't usually last very long for me (maybe about a minute) but, despite my already sluggish net, everything else seems to be working fine at those times.
