1501  Economy / Lending / Re: need 0.0071 loan on: October 26, 2015, 08:04:17 PM
Your last posts were long time ago and you come back asking for a loan. It seems that you just want to sell your account.
You need to provide a better collateral. Otherwise, you should close this thread before getting negative trust.
I would ask for more than $2 if I really wanted to scam.

Unfortunately, not everyone is that ambitious; there have indeed been cases of users scamming for less than $2 before.

But more to marjod's point, this does seem like an account sale; you even forgot to include how long you need the loan for, what interest you are willing to pay, why you need the loan, and so on. Further, can you perhaps provide a signed message, to prove ownership of that account (for all we know, scaryscar6 can be a hacked account)?
1502  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone playing browser game? on: October 26, 2015, 06:51:35 PM
I don't play games at all.

Except maybe the game of life, in which everyone is a player.

Oh, and I thought I was the only one still playing that. Smiley

Up until recently, I had been playing PipsTycoon - an online financial and economic simulation game, where players can withdraw the money they make in-game. Unfortunately, the amount of profit that can be made without much time and effort (and depositing your own money to play) has been steadily decreasing over time, so I'm looking for a new game, at the moment. 1503  Economy / Gambling / Re: try your chess skills for bitcoin on: October 26, 2015, 06:45:26 PM
Sounds great ! What are the probabilities of winning though ? I know if  you have used very advanced algorithms then beating an average betters is quite a simple tasks. It will check-mate opponents in no time .This game is totally based on intelligence which I believe in average players in less as compared to machines .So yeah I don't think I can beat a machine if its highly advanced .

Well, a computer playing chess will typically go through every possible move (with some degree of optimization), and choose the one that yields the most profit. Now, although that process can indeed defeat human players, it's not really due to what most would describe as intelligence (not in a general intelligence sense, at least); it's just a brute force approach.

At any rate, unless some changes were made to the site (and it still seems to be offline at the moment), I think the idea was to allow PvP games plus bets, and not exactly player versus computer games (though that's what it would eventually become if someone were to cheat).
1504  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Eurozone crosses Rubicon as Portugal's anti-euro Left banned from power on: October 25, 2015, 09:21:33 AM
The European Union will be happy. They have a history of supporting dictators, as long as they toe to the pro-NATO line. Anibal Cavaco Silva is no different from Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddhafi. You can't ban someone who just won the elections by saying that his ideology is different from yours. If you do so, what makes you any different from Kim Jong Un?

Well, if nothing else, I'm sure there are at least a few less murders, and atrocities in general, attributed to Anibal Cavaco Silva - you know, when compared to Saddam Hussein, or Muammar Gaddhafi, or Kim Jong Un. Tongue

Now, while the stated motives for this move are quite troubling, (in my limited understanding of the process) I'm not sure he isn't entitled to make this choice (though it's certainly questionable whether it was the right choice); at the very least, it isn't as if the Left-Wing coalition won the election outright, and the president went out of his way to stop them, single-handedly (as you seem to be making it out to be). So, the context is important here: initially, the incumbent conservative party came out first in the election (with more votes than any other party), though not with enough seats in parliament to obtain a majority, even when forming a coalition with their allies. However, although technically the opposition parties had the majority of the seats among them, they were too divided, and refused to put their differences aside to form a government. This left the conservative party with a minority government, and the task to find allies among the opposition (mainly, the larger party, PS), in order to be able to get (unpopular) things done - negotiations fell apart, however, and the opposition eventually got their act together and formed a coalition.

In this context, and even though I agree that the opposition should have been given the chance to form a government, the president's decision is perhaps merely an attempt to maintain the status quo, by keeping the incumbent party in power - which they aren't expected to retain, as the opposition is set to call for a no confidence vote.
1505  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Halving do Bitcoin em 2016 on: October 25, 2015, 06:22:17 AM

Hmm, it seems you didn't register for the competition, w40ut, and the registration period is over - but I hope you will join us in a future event (with the next one possibly starting early next month). Smiley

EDIT: oh, I see FrueGreads forgot to change that in the thread's title.
1507  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: October 19, 2015, 10:26:25 AM
A new signature campaign opened yesterday: Bitroll.XYZ - might be good for users wanting to post mostly/exclusively in German. However, the campaign manager seems not to want to select one escrow to hold the funds for the campaign, but rather, make individual escrow deals upon request from participants, which is kind of unusual, I guess.

Bitroll.XYZ (Thread)
Payment period: Weekly
Payment method: Will be paid to your website account.
Minimum posts: 10 posts per week.
Payments: L/H/S: 0.001BTC per post.
Escrow: Available upon request.
Miscellaneous: Maximum of 50 posts per week. You can't have negative trust. Posts in altcoin forums won't count. Participants can choose to make posts either in English or German.

1510  Other / Politics & Society / Re: AMERICA PRESIDENT WHO YOU PREFER? on: October 13, 2015, 11:47:29 PM
I would like to see either Bernie Sanders, or Larry Lessig, elected.

Bernie Sanders seems to me to be the most progressive, and reasonable, candidate available - his policies, many of which he seems to have held since, like, forever now, are quite sensible and, looking at some of his interviews, he is pretty straight forward about what they are, and how he would put them in place.

On the other hand, Larry Lessig, if elected, plans to deal exclusively with campaign finance and election reform, after which he would resign; the reasoning behind it being that, until corruption in politics is addressed, it will always distort important issues, and prevent them from being dealt with in a manner that reflects the public interest.
1511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips for running a successful Signature Campaign on: October 13, 2015, 06:51:46 PM
I've been meaning to enroll in a signature campaign but first wanted to know some tips to do it successfully.
Can anybody give me some pointers?
Thanks

Well, in addition to what was already mentioned (don't spam; participate in discussions in a constructive manner), which basically apply to all members, signature campaign or not, the next step would be to read the instructions for the campaign you are considering joining1 carefully (you can usually find everything you need to know in the very first post) - they tend to vary a little, some of them restricting where in the forum you can post, sometimes with what frequency you can do so, the minimum number of characters your posts must have, and so on.

1 - you can see a list of the available campaigns in the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.
1512  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Turkey Arrests Dozens Over ISIS Links on: October 13, 2015, 06:32:54 PM
Why waste the resources looking for these ISIS guys? If caught and they're sent to Gitmo, Obama will just release them anyway in time. So frustrating that good people have been killed looking for these guys, just for him to release them

That's a bit unfair, isn't it? One could easily argue that most Gitmo prisoners should never have been sent there in the first place (and are admittedly innocent of any offense, having been jailed for no good reason). Moreover, it could also be argued that no one should have been sent to an offshore prison/torture center at all, and that that was only done in an effort to skirt US laws and regulations (to say nothing of the Geneva Conventions, or international law in general - we already know the US doesn't care about those, unless it's someone else it doesn't like breaking them).
1513  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PKK says halts militant activity in Turkey until elections on: October 13, 2015, 05:57:08 PM
It was a terrorist attack carried by Ankara's regime that is why Turkish regime is protecting ISIS, so they can use them when needed

Hmm, it's probably not true that the attack was carried out by Ankara, directly (though I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I was wrong here); but it certainly seems very likely that they had information on one being imminent, at least (with the attack occurring right in the middle of the capital city, and all), and choose to do nothing to prevent it - worse: they've been taking every chance they can get to escalate the situation further, probably in an effort to push Kurdish political parties out of parliament, and secure a majority government in the next elections.
1514  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is forum escrow still safe? on: October 09, 2015, 06:07:17 PM
I think Legendary Escrows are still safe.

You really shouldn't trust someone merely based on his forum rank - accounts get bought and sold with some frequency around here, although higher ranks less frequently so.

By the way, it's way past time for you to update yourself... I recommend Firefox. Tongue
1515  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is forum escrow still safe? on: October 09, 2015, 06:01:10 PM
After the Quickseller story i wonder if its still safe or should i ask is there any sense to use forum escrow or not ?

No system is perfect idyu; there will always be users taking advantage of whatever they can, whenever they can.

With that in mind, of course you should still use escrow, when the situation calls for it - it does add an extra layer of security, when the system is working well (which has been the case, for the most part), and there might be ways to help avoid some of the problems when it isn't, such as, for example, opening the whole process, as much as possible, to public scrutiny.

I'm sorry AMR008 but, as ACAB pointed out, you need to be a Junior Member, or higher forum rank, before you can enter this competition.

Now, as I previously mentioned1, if you manage to make 26 more constructive posts somewhere in the forum, before the late registration closes (a little less than a week from now), you can still enter this event - if not, you'll have to wait for the next one.

Hello shadows123 I think I understand the reason why you think there might be a problem with your bets.
Like I already said I manually checked and it seems fine. The problem is that you probably did not consider the max 5% bet stake when you calculated your profit.

Your bet on that parlay was above the 5% of your current bank at the moment of your bet, so as stated in the rules, the winnings were capped as if the bet was made with just those 5% (you were paid in full of course, but for the competition it was like you made a bet with only 5% of your current bank).

Please review the rules carefully, and feel free to share any more doubts you might have.
how if i bet 100doge @2x and won my profit will count 1000 or just 500doge in the competition board?

Well, that depends on your bankroll, at the time you place the bet, much like FrueGreads wrote.

So, let's say you have a bankroll of 10.000 DOGE, and place a 1.000 DOGE bet at odds of 2; if you win that bet, you will profit 1.000 DOGE as usual, but for the purpose of this competition (and what you will see in the leaderboard is that), that bet will be counted as if it had been placed with a maximum of 5% of your bankroll - 500 DOGE, in this case, and that is what will be counted as your profit from that bet.
