Update

It might be already noticed that we took a very unconventional way of calculating net gains from the start. After much consideration, we decided to use a more traditional approach.

Before: dividends = 35% of net gains (calculated against the average buying price)
NAV = market value of total assets + total BTC funds - dividends

After:   dividends = 100% of dividends from total assets
NAV = market value of total assets + total BTC funds - dividends

By this method:
Investors could have more steady weekly payments.
Fund manager could feel more comfortable to do larger bulk of buying and selling without triggering too much investors' concerns.

So the dividends received will all be passed through as dividends paid, and the changes in value of the holdings will only contribute to growth?
1002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to rally to $50+ on: August 03, 2012, 07:55:07 PM
Because of the impending rise in difficulty, next time Bitcoin rallies its going to top $50US..it may even go to $100

Discuss

I don't see no 50 bucks

He didn't give a timeframe there, he just said "next time Bitcoin rallies". I think bitcoin has started going back up again, so maybe he will be right this time around?
1003  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who is buying expensive bitcoins? on: August 03, 2012, 07:38:11 PM
If my calculations are correct then Pirate needs to buy at least 3k BTC per day.
That's about 5% of the trade volume on Mt. Gox.

Actually Pirate does not need to buy anything to pay interest to his lenders, he can just use the funds of new loans coming in, at least till the influx of new funds declines significantly, like a market saturation would cause. Dont know if we are there yet.

That sounds an awful lot like a ponzi scheme - using an increasing amount of new users to make payments to existing users.
1004  Economy / Marketplace / Re: The Armory - Weapon Marketplace on: July 31, 2012, 10:41:12 PM
Heh, just took a look at what is offered over there at the armory. Not a whole lot for sale right now. And the prices are (at least to me) outrageous.

Maybe I should put a couple hunderd $ into a gun and sell it for 700 BTC, sounds like a good way to make a crapload of money!
1005  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] μ - Bitcoin Venture Capital (Asset ID "MU") on: July 27, 2012, 02:31:00 PM
Looks nice. I like how transparent your operations are. I bought a couple shares.

Bump, maybe we can get more votes?
1008  Other / Off-topic / Does size matter on: July 19, 2012, 06:58:34 PM
So ladies, here is the age old question that guys have been wondering, does size matter?

Posting that picture has made you a bitcoin-whore.
1010  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hi, I'm a sock puppet. on: December 19, 2011, 01:55:37 PM

No, I'm not Atlas/Alpha/Harvey/others, I just threw that smiley in to throw people off since I just saw it mentioned in the "Atlas is banned" thread. Before seeing it mentioned there, i had never even noticed him doing that.
1011  Economy / Goods / Re: [SELLING] Small home dwellings for Bitcoin on: December 19, 2011, 02:41:12 AM
Are you saying you will ship a small building? Or is this only available to people in your area?
1012  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hi, I'm a sock puppet. on: December 19, 2011, 02:24:04 AM
So... who's the guy with the hand up your ass?

It's more fun if you try to guess Wink

1013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Stagflation on: December 19, 2011, 01:58:19 AM
I've been watching the price since Wednesday and its barely moved. Could we be about to go through a uber-boring period where there a more coins being mined so inflation is increasing but the actual price remains solid?

I guess we may find out by the time this weekend is up.

Oooo, since wednesday? That's nothing in the big scheme of things. Might as well say "I've been watching the price since 10 minutes ago, and it has only changed 2 cents, we must have reached a stable exchange rate!"

What do you mean by "there are more coins being mined"? We are still having the exact amount of coins mined now as any other time - the system is set up so the number of coins mined stays the same.
1014  Economy / Speculation / Re: How an EURO melt down will affect bitcoins? on: December 19, 2011, 01:54:29 AM
LOL, take a wild guess.

It obviously affects Bitcoin. EUR is imminently endangered of a crash, USD is stupid monopoly money, Gold and Silver are bubbling as much as they can already. People are desperate for alternatives.
Gold+Silver are not in bubble territory yet. Once you get a foreclosed house with a ounce of gold and a car with an once of silver we are talking.

You can get houses in Detroit, Michigan for less than an ounce of gold.

I was wondering: the countries that now use the Euro, do they still circulate their own national currencies?
1015  Other / Off-topic / Hi, I'm a sock puppet. on: December 19, 2011, 01:37:48 AM
Hello everybody, I just thought I would introduce myself so nobody would be thrown off by what I say to them.

I am a bit sarcastic and I might come off as rude, please do not be too offended unless I mean to offend you, take everything I say with a grain of salt. Maybe add some pepper and oregano to cover the taste as well.

I am on the fence about bitcoin. I think the price is going down drastically in the future, despite rising amounts of usage.

If anybody else wants to admit being a sockpuppet in this thread, that would be cool. Maybe we can try to guess who is controlling sockpuppets. Or, suggest other users you think are extraneous?
1016  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators, I need your voice. on: December 13, 2011, 03:07:35 AM
I want an individual of great skill in these markets to give me a look into the price of the future founded on rationality and reason. There will be money for your writing. I need 1500 words at the least.

There will be money? Who do you plan on conning into giving you money this time?
1017  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price is running up and down, like a chicken with its head cut off on: December 13, 2011, 03:05:06 AM
Meh, this is nothing like the beginning of the summer.
1018  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin100 & archive.org on: December 13, 2011, 02:59:45 AM
What is to stop non-Bitcoin100 members from voting?
nothing. They can vote if they want. Maybe they will join the bitcoin100 after voting?
1019  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Footage of a Resource-based Economy on: December 13, 2011, 02:56:09 AM
At least I didn't go as far as to critique a worthless post.

I'm not just critiquing a worthless post, I'm critiquing a worthless poster.
1020  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Footage of a Resource-based Economy on: December 13, 2011, 12:28:38 AM
This is a worthless post. Come on, can't you give a summary of what is in the video? Comments on how it relates to anything?
