741  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: A high yield bond: low risk, Interst paid daily, 0.2%-1.2% on: September 17, 2012, 01:54:10 PM
Very unprofessional to troll other people and thus go off-topic in your own thread.

No, I was NOT trolling at all. I just pointed out a very serious problem for his mining company (though off-topic). I have been researching the securities on GLBSE including Ian's, and never intended to mention it until he trolled in my thread. It's very useful. He stopped.

You might want to go back and reread the thread again. Out of nowhere you just start attacking somebody who is asking questions.
742  Economy / Securities / Re: Do you Consider a Contract Change without a Share Holder Vote Invalid? [GLBS on: September 17, 2012, 11:30:17 AM
I think any change to the contract, no matter how small, should be approved by a shareholder vote. It does not matter intent or whatever, if the change is minor there should be no trouble getting it approved, setting up a motion takes barely any more work, and it gives the shareholders notice that the change is happening.

AssetIPO Price   Total Dividends   Last Traded   Profit
GIGAMINING1.30.4431760.6-0.256824 (-20%)
BITBOND0.60.1883580.32-0.091642 (-15%)
YABMC0.30.0855330.0999-0.114567 (-38%)
PUREMINING   0.450.1012080.0953-0.253492 (-56%)

Nice list.

Now people who support these are going to say "But for the people who bought in AFTER the IPO, after the price crashed, these were a great deal since they got them cheaper." But the price will continue to go down in the future, so what looks like a great price now is going to look overpriced when you look back at it in a couple months.

What country are you located in? That should have been one of the first things you said in your OP.
745  Economy / Securities / Re: 80 shares of Glbse for sale. on: September 16, 2012, 07:54:09 PM
The last 3 shares I sold were for an average of over 10 BTC each.

That's way overvalued. Actual shares aren't worth that much.

Could you give an idea what you value your actual shares at? Just curious.
746  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Capital.One: low risk, Interst paid daily, 0.2%-1.2% on: September 16, 2012, 07:42:54 PM
Yeah, this is not going to fly.

1) You're violating the trademark of a huge finance corporation, which would crush me under the sheer weight of the amount of paper their lawyers would send.

2) This is obviously a scam.

Go list on MPex. they need assets.

Even if this guy does have actual victims borrowing at above usurious rates, using the name of a large company is stupid to say the least.

"Capital One Corp.": Can't you come up with an original name, or where you just expecting nobody to notice you are not the actual Capital One that we have all heard of?
747  Other / Off-topic / Re: What color is my ignore button? on: September 16, 2012, 12:19:59 PM
Thanks for that. I would have assumed glowing red or something close lol.

Yours was clear until maybe a week or two ago. Did you suddenly start getting more annoying recently?
748  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Not afraid of risk? Get up to 1% daily! - OBSI.HRPT on: September 16, 2012, 11:57:34 AM
Hey Obsi, I understand that the dividend you pay you limit to 1%, and so you have built up a buffer which makes the dividend you pay steady for now, but how much variance do you see in the interest you receive day to day?

Do you plan to resume selling more bonds next week?
749  Other / Off-topic / What color is my ignore button? on: September 16, 2012, 12:01:23 AM
The ignore button starts out clear, and as more people ignore you it turns yellow and then orange. But only other people see your ignore button, so you cannot tell what color it is. The obvious way around that limitation is to have somebody tell you what color it is, thereby giving you some idea of how obnoxious you are.

So in this thread, if you are curious, please reply by stating the color of the ignore button of the previous post. Then check back and the next person will have told you what color yours is.

Thanks for helping. Smiley

I've been reading about bitcoin for most of the summer and lurking a bit here. It's pretty different now than how it was a few months ago mainly due to the pirate

No, it's exactly the same. Only before Pirate it was Bitcoinica and before Bitcoinica it was Betcoin and before Betcoin it was Linode and before Linode it was Bitconica again and before Bitcoinica again it was Bitscalper and before Bitscalper it was Bitcoin7 and before Bitcoin7 it was Mooncoin and before Mooncoin it was mybitcoin and fucking underage kids in Pattaya and before mybitcoin and fucking underage kids in Pattaya it was Mt Gox and before Mt Gox it was allinvain and before allinvain it was ubitex.

You forgot about that polish exchange that lost the keys to the wallet with all their bitcoins in it or whatever.
751  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) [140.1 gh] [6.700 mh/share] on: September 15, 2012, 02:11:22 PM
After reading through this thread, I think Diablo deserves a "SCAMMER" tag. Anybody want to start a thread over in scam accusations?
752  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] CPA - No Dividends for the month of August, 2012 on: September 15, 2012, 02:01:36 PM
CPA has reached an equilibrium since the recent defaults due to Usagi proving she has more than enough assets to cover payouts. It is currently selling well-above NAV due to dividends and other future events. The bids are slowly building up.

Just an FYI to anyone who has been scared off recently.

If it is selling above the NAV, then now is a good time to sell. Atlas is saying "SELL SELL SELL!"
753  Economy / Securities / Re: A BTC stock exchange for high-risk, unverified securities? on: September 15, 2012, 01:17:11 PM
Yeah, will be working with issuers to get them into white, and then eventually blue.

I have a sneaking suspicion that companies who can list on blue wont go near glbse as they would be prevented by securities law from doing so.

Do you have a specific law that prevents it?
754  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: September 15, 2012, 01:11:21 PM
What does blue and pink market mean and why is the big list in pink market and not in white one?

Everything starts in Pink. Assets get moved up to white and then blue when they meet more stringent verification.
755  Economy / Securities / Re: 80 shares of Glbse for sale. on: September 15, 2012, 03:34:26 AM
Can I start the bidding at 1 satoshi per share?
756  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) [140.1 gh] [6.700 mh/share] on: September 14, 2012, 10:10:39 PM
Anyone see this?

http://gigaom.com/cleantech/behold-apples-massive-solar-farm-from-the-sky-photos/

That is Apple's solar farm powered data center facility. They have one, so why can't Bitcoin?

If I recall correctly, the GREEN bitcoin mining company is doing this, using solar energy to mine bitcoins.
757  Other / Meta / Re: A suggestion to deal with bad BTC PR on: September 14, 2012, 09:36:18 PM
Just to check the rules, are people allowed to show up in a thread an post a reply of "SCAM" without anything more thoughtful or even any other words in their post?
758  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: glbse fees on: September 14, 2012, 09:29:40 PM
That could have been more clear.

Added to the GLBSE article on the Bitcoin wiki:

Quote
Fees

...
Sell fee rate, paid by seller: 0.5%
Buy fee rate, paid by seller:   0.5%

...
Trade fees are MAKER/TAKER, that is if you place an order, and it goes on the orderbook, then you pay 0% fee, if the order gets matched with another order then you pay the trade fee(buy OR sell fee, not both).

 - https://glbse.com/portfolio/fees  <-- Need to be logged in to view.

But the way that goes, it looks like in any trade the seller is paying the fee, and I don't think that is right. I think it should say "buy fee rate, paid by buyer"

Unless I am just confused. :\
759  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] should the "securities," "lending," etc. sub-fora be moved to a new site? on: September 14, 2012, 05:33:34 PM
The whole point of Bitcoin is to be a currency that you can do business with.

To sever the marketplace would be removing Bitcoin from what it's intended for. As far as I know, this forum is one of the few marketplaces where you can do direct business with Bitcoins through almost anything.

If Gavin wants Bitcoin to remain as a niche hobby in spirit, then we should just make this forum technical discussion only then.

If the marketplace was split off to bitcoinmarket.org or whatever, then that forum would prosper and bitcointalk.org would wither away and die.
760  Other / Meta / Re: A suggestion to deal with bad BTC PR on: September 14, 2012, 05:27:06 PM
If we want for BTC to take off in the near future as a legitimate currency by the mainstream, then we must take steps to limit bad PR damage from the numerous "scam" accusations that have taken place on this forum. I believe taht it is very demoralizing for a new user to come here and see that most forum posts are taken up by people cry babying that they have been "taken advantage of" because they chose to make bad investments and it does far more harm to the Bitcoin reputation than it ever helps them in getting any of their money back.

Given that this community is for the purpose of spreading the word on Bitcoin and given given that it is one of the first places new Bitcoiners and the curious are likely to check when they are just finding out about bitcoin, it would behoove the mods here to limit the scam whining from being seen by them. For instance, the "scam accusations" forum should be hidden from view to anybody but posters with a high post count, and any discussion of scams should be eliminated from the rest of the site entirely.

Also, what is the purpose of a "scammer" tag? It certainly doesn't stop these people from posting and in many cases it seems to have been misapplied (on Matthew N. Wright for instance). Why not simply eliminate this silly punishment and let the freemarket do its job and make it so people have to avoid "scams" the old fashioned way: by doing their research and not making bad decisions?

The scammer tag is just a warning.

Why would we hide the scam accusations? That makes no sense. New people should be aware of what is going on and who is a scammer so they do not get taken advantage of.
