721  Economy / Securities / Re: [CPA] [NYAN] [BMF] The Wind Changes Direction -- are you prepared? on: September 19, 2012, 08:30:08 PM
Is there any news yet on when CPA expects to start issuing dividends again?  I have been looking all over but haven't found an answer.

Did you read the FAQ? It says if you need more info, email cpa@tsukino.ca :>

Anyway I don't see why we can't pay divs next month. We took a one time loss and the share price dropped, but since then we've been doing ok.

I think that was a very rude way to answer a legitimate question. A simple answer of "Next month" would have been better. You spread info over several forum threads, no wonder people have trouble following what is going on with your funds.
722  Economy / Securities / Re: Be kind, but I would like some input about a new mining company :) on: September 19, 2012, 04:41:05 PM
GLBSE is adding rules/increasing fees to make it more difficult for people to start from absolutely nothing but a vague idea of what they want. You already have stuff up and running, so you shuldn't have a problem.

I am also interested what other sorts of businesses you want to start.

Could you post a picture of your current rigs up and running?
723  Economy / Securities / Re: [UDN] Is Underdog Networks a scam? on: September 19, 2012, 04:30:51 PM
Just noticed they haven't paid divs for the last few weeks and have been moved to GLBSE Black.

Uh oh, what's up with UDN?

I avoided it partly because I couldn't find a thread in here about it.  The site listed in the contract looked flaky and very low traffic.  This gave me the impression it was a low-budget operation with little commitment from the operator.

Not sure if those things make it a scam, but non-payment puts it a whole lot closer.

Did you try emailing the operator?

Hrm, I hadn't even noticed this company until you pointed out it is now in the DeathMarket.

Who sets up a whole new forum just to post information about a mining company share? A simple static webpage would have been better.

It might be a tip-off that something is fishy when there are typos in the contract. And who puts a smiley in a contract? I wouldn't touch those shares with a ten foot pole.
724  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BTC-GOLD on: September 19, 2012, 04:23:50 PM
Why are shares 0.01 g instead of 1 g? Or since the smallest incriment is 5 g, why not have shares represent 5 g?
725  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Notice of fee change on GLBSE on: September 19, 2012, 02:07:41 PM
I'd like to see announcements like this made through the GLBSE mail feature as well as the forum.  I've never gotten mail through the GLBSE and it seems like that would be a logical place for these kinds of announcements.

This would also be a good thing to put on the blog, which has not been updated in a while. Really, it should be added as a notice at the top of the protfolio page when you log in or something. Not everybody checks this forum often, and many people would miss this announcement because it is so far removed from the actual GLBSE website. Is there even a link anywhere on the GLBSE to this forum? (other than a few of the assets which list a forum post as their "website", which seems kinda shady to me.)
726  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Not afraid of risk? Get up to 1% daily! - OBSI.HRPT on: September 19, 2012, 12:20:31 PM
If you are receiving payment once a week, why not make a weekly payment instead of a daily one?

Who wants to wait a week to get paid from something high-risk? I know I don't like the suspense.

Think of all the tension building up every week... people would speculate and get antsy. Thursday would come and they'd be fidgety... maybe even distracted. Accidents would go up. They might snap at their spouse or kids. Friday mornings would be filled with what-ifs and oh-why's.

It might even taint the whole TGIF spirit.

Also: The contract states daily payouts. It's a nice test to gauge the effort required should I ever decide to make other assets have daily payouts as well. If you read through the thread, you'll see I've even dipped into my personal profits to smooth out the variance and keep daily payouts steady.

This asset isn't a huge earner for me. Overall, I've averaged perhaps 2-3 BTC per day from running it, which in my opinion has not really been worth the hassle of threats against my person, trolls, and endless questions whose answers are typically fairly easily inferred from posts already in this thread.

So, whatever the payment is on Friday is what it will be the rest of the week?
727  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Not afraid of risk? Get up to 1% daily! - OBSI.HRPT on: September 19, 2012, 03:35:24 AM

I receive weekly payments on Friday, and the variance is high, which is one of the reasons I keep a buffer.

If you are receiving payment once a week, why not make a weekly payment instead of a daily one?
728  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Notice of fee change on GLBSE on: September 18, 2012, 02:43:07 PM
Good question, to discourage people from submitting bad contracts, the application fee will cover a single application, so applicants had better get their stuff right if they don't want to waste funds.

I think somone has already offered to vet contracts on the forum.

I would be willing to look at people's contracts and rip them apart with brutal honesty. Maybe I could offer to look at a contract for 1 btc, refundable if the contract is not accepted by GLBSE?
729  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: glbse fees on: September 18, 2012, 11:48:57 AM

From: https://glbse.com/portfolio/fees

Sell fee rate, paid by seller:   50 BP
Buy fee rate, paid by seller:   50 BP

So, unless glbse.com lists the wrong fees for their own service, my example holds true.

Yes, that is what I am saying, GLBSE lists the wrong fees for their own service. Your example is correct, the buyer sometimes pays the fee. But GLBSE only lists fees for the seller, which is clearly wrong. The second bolded line is incorrect.
730  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN]Bookcoins - Get Books With Bitcoins on: September 18, 2012, 02:22:27 AM
On your website: The picture of the books is nice, but it is almost impossible to read the text over it. Consider either making the picture less bold or increasing the opacity of the textbox. And increase the font size, the text is like a tiny little blip in the center of the screen, it should take up more space.

Is your plan to offer the books in e-book format so people can download them to their e-readers?
731  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Notice of fee change on GLBSE on: September 18, 2012, 02:16:39 AM

We're making these changes because a lot of people have tried to create assets that we just can't approve, and most of the time it's just from terribly written contracts or schemes that don't really map onto a stock exchange.

So if somebody comes to you with a horribly written contract, will you take their deposit and tell them to try again, or will you have them rework the contract and continue without paying a second deposit?
732  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] FUTUREFUND - Making the Future Happen on: September 18, 2012, 02:07:46 AM
How about adding "Any situation not covered in the contract shall be put to vote by the shareholders to add an appropriate clause to the contract."?
733  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Not afraid of risk? Get up to 1% daily! - OBSI.HRPT on: September 17, 2012, 09:46:41 PM
Hey Obsi, I understand that the dividend you pay you limit to 1%, and so you have built up a buffer which makes the dividend you pay steady for now, but how much variance do you see in the interest you receive day to day?

Do you plan to resume selling more bonds next week?

Maybe you didn't answer my question because you missed it the past two times you updated the tread with the exact same post?
734  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) [140.1 gh] [6.700 mh/share] on: September 17, 2012, 06:49:43 PM
Haven't you noticed you are the only troll left?

Heh, far from it. Everybody is still watching you make an ass out of yourself.

Really, the way you are handling this situation has made me reconsider every other asset you are involved with. I was considering investing some money in one of your funds, but now I think that is a bad idea.
735  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitcoin-Insurance.com on: September 17, 2012, 05:23:12 PM
Are you willing to provide a legal adress under which someone could be held accountable in case of fraud?

I already answered all your questions. Im also on IRC to chat directly with everybody who wants to talk. Eisenhower34 @ freenodes #btcst
If my answers didnt satisfy you, then i demand that you dont use BI.

That is a really crappy way to answer a legitimate question.

I agree you should not call this insurance, it is misleading. Call it what it is, a CDS, most people have some idea what that is from all the bad press they have been getting from the financial crisis.

The math in the OP seems kinda wonky. When you are calculating a "return on initial capital" You should also include whatever gets put into this scheme, so the actual returns are lower.

It seems to me it would be better to just stick a few bitcoin in a cold storage than to trust you.
736  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: glbse fees on: September 17, 2012, 04:37:19 PM
Alright so basically there is always a fee on trades. That could have been more clear.

This means I cannot rely on GLBSE for other than advertising my fund as such a trade cost is unacceptable. For electrons moving around that is insane.
Really? You pay a lot more using a regular stock exchange. If we don't charge trade fees then we have to charge other fees, bills have to be paid, children have to be fed, nothing is free yadda yadda. The costs in running an exchange are not in moving bits around.

Luckily it looks like my friend might be interested in making some competition* for GLBSE - until then I will allow my investors to trade bonds at market rate manually via contacting myself.

Good luck to your friend, but if they want to make any profit (which means they survive and grow) then they'll need to charge fees at the same level or more than we already do MPex has lower trade fees by having a 20BTC account fee.

I am not sure why people would even want to invest in something with such a small profit margin that the 0.5% fee is too much?

The trade fee is actually better for investors than the large signup fee, since it incentivises the market operators to continue providing a good service. There are only so many people who want an account to trade with, once the signups slow down the chances go up that MPEx either abandons the project or runs with everybody's money.
737  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Diablo Mining Company (DMC) [140.1 gh] [6.700 mh/share] on: September 17, 2012, 04:19:11 PM
The "do not invest" excuse might fly, if this contract was drafted before people bought shares. Guess what.. THEY ALREADY DID. And
And now you and DIablo consipire to alter the contract post factum to rob those investors of what little equity they have left.

If you really want to implement the most stupid contract ever, go ahead, but liquidate the company first or buy the existing investors out for a price they agree to. Anything less is breach of contract and fraud, plain and simple.

I think it would be reasonable for Usagi and Diablo to offer to buy shares back from anybody who does not approve the contract change at the original IPO price.
738  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: glbse fees on: September 17, 2012, 04:15:46 PM
Let me move these statements closer together:

Quote
Fees
...
Buy fee rate, paid by seller:   0.5%
...
Conversely, if a seller puts an ask order on the order book, he pays no fee - when a buyer places an order to buy at that price, the ask order comes off the book and the buyer pays the fee.

In the fees explaination on GLBSE, the seller is the only one listed as paying a fee. But in your example you just cited a case where the BUYER pays the fee. So I think it is a typo on the GLBSE page.
