If your favorite is not on the list I will add it.
842  Economy / Securities / Re: A BTC stock exchange for high-risk, unverified securities? on: September 08, 2012, 11:29:29 PM

I'm thinking of tier names right now. Tier 1 would be GLBSEBlue for "bluechip" shares, Tier 3 being GLBSEPink for pink sheets (and all the risk, none of the requirements).

Anyone have a good name for Tier 2 middle tier?

How about GLBSEWhite?

Since you have to get some verificaton to get out of the bottom tier, it would be like whitelisting the assets?

Looks like my suggestion wins!

Market on GLBSE now split into Pink, White, and Blue.

Well, "split", since everything is still in Pink, White and Blue are empty.
843  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] CPA - No Dividends for the month of August, 2012 on: September 08, 2012, 11:18:38 PM
who would have guessed this would happen?
CPA has lost about 40% of it's value.

And when I say 40% I mean, at a minimum. There is another problem on the horizon which is extremely troubling.
Well as they say, capital does tend to flow from weak hands to strong hands ;-)

Eloquently put, Usagi.

Have to laugh. But really, anyone who trusted this asshat deserves what is to come. It was an obvious scam since day one. He's been opening other scam sites like crazy to make up the difference, guess he didn't hit his mark to cash out before shit went south. See online wallet and shitty gambling sites coded in less than 20 minutes as example.

I don't think you can call it an "obvious scam". He has some contracts sold, many publicly disclosed by the insured party, so he has some income. That is a more verifiable business model than many of the other investments around here.

You keep talking about growing these plants indoors, why not put them outside in the sun where they belong? (sunlight is much cheaper than electricity for lighting, right?)

This is demonstrating the amazing ability of bitcoins to transfer anonymous messages. You just send a series of transactions to a single adress using either binary or binary -> decimal coding (0.00010001 = 0.000000017, contains the same info but costs less). It is convienient that the number of decimals allowed in the bitcoin protocol is 8, the same as one byte of informaiton, which is great for characters! I guess that makes sense since it is a computer based system, so it shares some characteristics with other computer systems.
849  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] CPA on: September 07, 2012, 07:41:39 PM
I have never been a shareholder of CPA, so I retracted as I figured he would receive plenty of flak from his actual shareholders.

I am not a shareholder (yet). I think Usagi is blazing a new frontier here, bitcoins need a way to insure against losses but since this has never been done before it is understandable that the risks are hard to measure. We now know the premiums for insuring deposits in HYIPs should be much higher. Perhaps a more conservative and diversified portfolio of investments would be good, you just need to find somebody trustworthy you can lend the coins to, like me  Grin
850  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] CPA on: September 07, 2012, 07:27:27 PM
retracted. (Usagi is a horrible businessman and totally mismanaged the money by underestimating risks at every turn)

That was about the extent of it, right?

Deal complete.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Entire World Just Found Out about Bitcoin! on: September 07, 2012, 01:05:59 PM
They emailed me back and said they don't post it cause they doubt if it's a hoax/scam or not.

What? Obviously it's in doubt if it's real or not. But it's a real story nonetheless, which is on CNN. Journalists...

Hacker has Romney's tax returns: maybe, possibly hoax.

Hacker asks Romney or Obama to send him bitcoins to withold/release tax return he might have: fact.

So it is a fact that somebody is trying to use bitcoins to scam Romney/Obama/anybody interested in the tax returns.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Romney's tax returns - first Bitcoin extortion? on: September 06, 2012, 11:28:51 PM

Awesome.

The "release" address is winning, but at this rate neither address is going to make it to a million before the expiration date.
854  Other / Off-topic / Re: My bank fucked up. on: September 06, 2012, 08:29:00 PM
First, Stephen Gornick, you hit the nail on the head. Also a very entertaining story. You're correct in that for people to act, they need an incentive. When a customer complains they just brush it off, but have some agency call them that could actually shut them down if they don't behave, then they suddenly stand all erect and yells: "Yes Sir, Yes Sir!"

Alternatively, you could email every address the bank leaked to you and tell them:
- The bank leaked their email addresses
- How using Bitcoins will allow them to remain anonymous and not rely on a 3rd party
- Links to more info about Bitcoin

Yes, I thought of e-mailing them all asking them how they felt about their bank distributing their corporate e-mail address to hundreds of recipients like this. Not sure though, if the bank ever found out, if the situation would turn against me, and create trouble for me.

Is there an appropriate government office to send this information to?

There must be some way to anonymize your email address, spammers seem to do it all the time.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Romney's tax returns - first Bitcoin extortion? on: September 06, 2012, 07:50:15 PM
Did someone have the Bitcoin adresses?

The hackers did one misstake, should had posted a description to the adresses so that everyone in the world could followed the drama.

The addresses are quoted in one of the threads about this topic, anybody can follow it.

EDIT: Actually, it was farther up in this thread. http://blockchain.info/address/1HeF89wMjC48bWNgWvVo7Wu3RaLW8XVsE8, Total Received 0.3557789 BTC

Why do people play satoshidice?

The odds are 98%.. so if you start with 1 BTC you should expect to end up with 0.98 BTC..

Why do people play any gambling games? For the thrill of trying to beat the odds.

Who was the best financier in the Bible?

Noah - he floated his stock while the rest of the world was in liquidation!

Could you share the name of the institution so we know to avoid it in the future?
859  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why is blackmail illegal? on: September 06, 2012, 04:41:33 PM

Instead of a $1M upfront, if I were to be blackmailed, I would insist the "blackmailee" take out a $1M loan, and I would make the payments. Info ever got out, I stop making payments.

That doesn't make any sense. First of all, how is the guy going to get a loan? "Hi, I'd like a loan for 1 million dollars. I can totally pay the payments, some dude I am blackmailing said he would pay up!" If he did manage to get the loan, he would just run off with the million dallars. If he sends out the info, how is stopping payments going to help you any?
860  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Dank Bank Deposits - low risk, dank soul guarantee - 1.5%-2.5% weekly on: September 05, 2012, 11:40:26 PM
You seem to have negative opinions about women.  You should probably work that out and drop it, it is a very immature attitude.

As I have tried to explain to you, functioning as an individual when you are sober, healthy, and clear of mind is much easier than walking through life in a drug addled haze.  You can change your life, and for the sake of your business you should.

It is not just any woman, you sound like an old prude lady who never got any love.
