1501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 01:17:59 AM
I really can't fathom what the feeling of that lady when she was told that the machine malfunctioned, hence she will not get any of that juicy millions. Perhaps the best thing is to file complaint against the Jamaican gambling regulatory board for this mishap.

Yeah, in any case, maybe she learn her lessons and probably playing on some other casinos now because of her bad experience with Resorts World.

I guess it is in the ToS that if the machine malfunctioned, the winning is voided, but still that is huge money to won and it could really be a life changer.
1502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Title Eliminator on: January 10, 2023, 02:43:47 PM
Hopefully, this fight will happen ASAP, not be postponed and stuff.
For me, Wilder is still a beast since he only lost to the best of the best! Whereas Ruiz lost to the "bodybuilder," lol.
Yeah, but he beat the body builder first, and in the rematch, he was too cocky and confident and that body builder adjusted.

Don't forget that besides Wilder's one-punch KO power, he also has reach, which can be extremely difficult for Fat Ruiz.
So Wilder will KO Ruiz IMO since he's not going to be pussy like the "bodybuilder."
But being fat might be a advantage here as his added weight might be enough to hold him straight even if Wilder hit him with his best shot. And even the body builder didn't knock him down, it was a decision win. So it will be interested on this fight will pan out, Wilder with his power punch and Ruiz as well and then his good chin to be tested and see if it can hold. And on the same time, touch Wilder as well with his own power punch.
1503  Economy / Speculation / Re: January bitcoin price out look on: January 10, 2023, 02:13:15 PM
There are still some fud in the market about Huobi Exchange that they Deleted their internal group, if that happened then BTC price can once again collapse to 15k. If everything ok then I think there is chance for Btc to touch $20k before end of January. MtGox BTC release has been postponed which will have positive effects on BTC price.
When was this FUD? I haven't heard anything about this one, in any case, it doesn't look like it has affected the price as we are still in the green candle and pushing above $17,200. So hopefully, this news is not true because we don't like to have negative news at the start of the year.

So I would say the outlook is still very much positive.

Although I'm not seeing a $20k price, but if the price is going to be green all this month then it's a good start for us.
1504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 10, 2023, 05:44:27 AM
Djokovic will certainly make an attempt to break the record. But the years are also starting to count for him and you can't play 20 tournaments a year. The competition is also big. In the days when Connors won all the tournaments, the tournament was much lower. Many people see Federer as the best player of all time, but Connors holds the record firmly. I don't know who the best female player of all time was. In the 90s that was undoubtedly the German Steffi grave. In the men's tennis in the 90s, the Americans Sampras and Agassi dominated. But I don't see it in the list either. I expect that Jack Sinner will also win the necessary tournaments. That is one of the most promising talents out there right now.

Yes, might be hard to chase that record, but for sure, as long as Djokovic is playing and it seems that he will have least a 1-2 years of his prime years ahead of him. He will be pushed by a lot of young players in the tour right now, but you can see that he holds himself very well with them. Sinner is just one, we have Alcaraz, unfortunately he is injured if I'm not mistaken.

Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert-Lloyd, Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Martina Hingis and of course Serena Williams are the names that pop up in my mind as far as the ladies goes or at least the female tennis players that I was able to watch.
For now it is Djokovic the only choice to break the record. Rafael Nadal isn't gonna chase it further. Once Nadal was high and he wasn't able to keep his track record continue due to injuries. If Nadal too is committed, then the competence between Djokovic and Nadal will make this record breaking more interesting. As said, Djokovic have got few more years left to chase and by now many potential young players makes it a hard task for him.
Nadal's body is slowly deteriorating and so in the next 2 years, he might follow Roger Federer's retirement. For Djokovic, I think he can break the tie between them this year and then win a couple to inch close to Roger's record.

But it is without any test or competition from the young generation now with Alcaraz leading the way for this new set of players.

So we will see how good Djokovic if Nadal no longer plays and he is the only one left of the big 3.
1505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 10, 2023, 04:25:36 AM
PBC is just new to boxing and is less than 10 years of operations but it already destroyed and prevented a lot of big fights. PBC prevented us from seeing the huge AJ vs Wilder clash when they were both undefeated and the winner could've been the first-ever undisputed heavyweight in this 4-belt era. PBC also didn't respond nor sent counter-offers to Bob Arum of Top Rank in order to stage Crawford vs Spence for the welterweight undisputed belts. There are too many potential fights I can mention but these 2 are the biggest and could've been historic fights if PBC is cooperative and not scared and selfish.

As you mentioned, primarily focused on the business side instead of anything related to legacy. Agree with you.

However, who's the one/s that needs to be blamed strongly for big fights unable to materialize?

It's a sad reality but the boxer themselves is just cooperating with these networks and promoters, because for the obvious reason that they receive benefits and advantages that aren't present if they decided not to be under by any firms.

Well, they don't have that much leverage to make a choice about their career because they won't be reaching anywhere far enough if they will be flying solo without the help of promoters, hence, why they are called promoters in the first place. They are the ones who will get the boxer their fight and if not, will pull some strings to make a fight happen that will help them towards their career. In the end, it will be a blaming game for them if there's a fight that they are avoiding. We just don't know who's afraid, is it the boxer or the promoter.

Mostly it is the promoter that evades boxing deals since the boxer has no say about it.  They just train, sign, and fight.  All the processes of dealing are done by the manager and promoter.  The promoter is more focused on the money and how they can make their boxer records amazing making more value for the boxer's career.  Thus if the promoter thinks that their boxer has a huge tendency to lose the fight, the promoter declines the deal.  We can take an example ample on the early years of Ryan Garcia where he really wanted to fight Gervonta Davis but his promoter,  Oscar dela Hoya thinks he isn't ready for the fight yet thus not considering the fight against Davis during that time.

On the other hand, it's not just about avoiding their cash cow in a big fight that they think can't handle yet but boxers here are getting the advantage. Since they are considered cash cow, expect their promoters to do their best in taking care of them. The boxer involved will now decide if they will take that advantage or just purely decide on their own building their legacy.

In today's boxing, boxers need to be wise and try their best to build a legacy while having a good cash flow on their hands at the same time.
Not sure though about boxers making their legacy, maybe just a couple of them in every division as for sure they are all looking for money fights. Or those fight that will gave them the most money as they goes up.

And this is also a win win for promoters, build their cash cow like Manny or Canelo in this decade and then make a lot of money out it.

Canelo though is wise now not to tie up or sign a longer contract after he severe his relationship with Oscar Dela Hoya. Now him and Eddie Hearn is just like 2-3 fights and after that whether Canelo will renew his contract or not.
1506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 10, 2023, 03:48:16 AM
Durant misses at least two weeks, that would be a huge loss to BKN. They rather choose losing to Miami than losing Durant. Just when he broke another record and went up one more place in all time top scorers list, he could've gone one more place next game. I hope he'll return healthy soon.
Kyrie is playing great lately so I don't expect many losses from Brooklyn in this period. Sure Kyrie will use the ball more and Simmons should take more responsibility. T.J. Warren and Watanabe will get more playing time. Coach Vaughn will find a way to win games, Nets have a good squad. I don't think they'll go down just like Suns.
It's time for Kyrie to step up again as the leader of the Nets, for me he is inconsistent, but let's how or what he is going to do since he will be task to lead the team again in the absence of Kevin Durant.

Let's give credit to Coach Vaughn, he has make a turn around with this team when he takes over from Nash. And now they are one of the top teams in the East. For sure there will be some loses without Durant, but for sure they won't let this to happen to them with Kyrie and Simmons and then their surprised player like Watanabe, T.J. Warren and Nic.
1507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Gambling Slang and Terms that Beginners Should be Aware of on: January 09, 2023, 09:22:16 PM
Meaning don't stick to mind unless you are curious in first place or had doubts about word's meaning in past, I just Google whenever there is doubt so the understanding remains.
At least though, you will have a idea on what the meaning of those terms and others as posted but some members. Because maybe when you play on online casinos and you might here this terms, so at least you know that meaning of it and will not be at lost when gambling because you might be playing with a experience gamblers and throwing this slang on the table.

Good thread, OP.
I don't know how common it is, but I have heard/read people calling "dices" using different nouns, I recall "bones". I assume it is a slang which may not be common in the context of online casinos or crypto casinos.  It may be a term used when rolling dices in real life, since (if I recall correctly) the first dices in the human history were carved out of bone and ivory.
Yes, because the original dices where made up of "bones" or ancient animals.
1508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 09, 2023, 09:07:58 PM
It was the 9th round. The official time was it had 13 seconds in round 9 before it was stopped. I have won my bet on over 7.5 rounds.

I am not quite certain why Hector Garcia's team stopped the fight. He did not appear to be tired although he  appeared affected by the last punches from Tank in round 8, however, I do not reckon it was enough to stop the fight.

It wasn't the team of Hector Garcia that actually stopped the fight. It was Hector Garcia himself who quit and told his corner to stop the fight. Round 8 was really terrible for him. Tank landed heavy shots to his open head causing Garcia to lose vision. Garcia complained that he couldn't see anymore.

I think it was a good decision for Hector. He could have pushed through with the fight but he would only be punished more. Tank gets more explosive as the rounds get by.

Congratulations for your win.
I think it's part team, part him as his answers to the questions of the team were not right. Then he told them he cannot see. They might have also realized something is wrong before they all decided he cannot continue.
Here it focused on how important having a corner coach is because if those things didn't happen Garcia will be fighting blind which could lead to a worst situation that might end his career.
Thumbs up to his team for taking the time to ask him very important questions and calling the doctor afterward. Surrender is better than being unable to fight in the future.
@bbc.reporter Congratulations. I only took the bet to end until round 6, didn't win any.
Yes, this is also similar to Pacquiao vs Dela Hoya, I mean Nacho is asking of Oscar wanted to continue, he didn't respond, but as the trainer and corner of Oscar, he called it and Oscar didn't question the decision of his head trainer. So yes, it is very important that they are really aware when to stop the fight as not to damage their fighter any longer.

Again, we can go back to the Margarito vs Pacquiao fight, wherein Robert Garcia should have stop it and it did a permanent damage on Margarito's eye. Broken orbital bone and eye socket that can't be repaired and it ended his career.
1509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 07, 2023, 03:10:19 AM
It was the Nets in a very close game against the Pelicans. No Zion but the Pels have the home court advantage but in the end Durant bring his A-game. I don't think that the Pels feels broken after this game. It just shows their character as a team with Zion.

Hornets beating the Bucks for now, 127-103.

Perhaps this is one surprised of this scheduled game. Still lots of games though, so let's see.
1510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the future of digital currencies? on: January 07, 2023, 02:18:23 AM
I've been wondering recently what's ahead for us in terms of the evolution of digital currencies.

There has been a lot of amazing development with blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general in the past decade. But I wonder if there's anyone working on other ideas or technologies that could also be promising. I'm not talking about altcoins. I mean real breakthrough ideas, similar to what happened when Bitcoin was originally introduced. It would be really exciting to witness the birth of something completely new in the next years/decades. I'm sure we have other brilliant "Satoshis" out there.

I'd love to learn more about cool projects and concepts that could be the evolution of blockchain (again, not altcoins please  Wink)

Bitcoin will still remain on the top of the foodchain, even though there is no improvement as compare to altcoins project, it is the prime mover so that will remain.

The market has been saturated already, not sure if there is some projects that will come up in the future that will disrupt crypto market again. And those that is coming up is pure hype as they could simply die in the next bear market. So not sure what blockchain idea you are looking for that is not "altcoin related".
1511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 06, 2023, 09:48:10 PM
The problematic season is continuing for Lakers.

They have such an inconsistent form really. Sometimes they start a winning streak which stops sharply all of a sudden. It is a three-game winning streak for now and we will see how long this will go on. It feels like they will finish the regular season on the brink of the playoff area. But I don't know if they would stay inside of it or outside. Because this performance isn't credible enough to be sure of something about their future. Lebron must still be quite frustrated at his team now. Because he is still playing really competitively.
I think that's already a given fact this season, we are just waiting if they are going to make a move and trade some of their players, but so far they seems to satisfied as how they are doing, although for the fans, it's another worst season for them and the only bright light is Lebron breaking the record of another Laker great, Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

I do agree, they are borderline team and maybe they could be out of the playoffs again with this kind of lineup.

Or if they make it, probably gets eliminated by the top team in the West, like the Nuggets and Memphis team in the first round.
1512  Economy / Speculation / Re: ELON sold his TSLA stock for $3.5billion. Will he re-buy BTC soon? on: January 06, 2023, 05:00:41 AM
I don't think this is necessarily bullish for Bitcoin unless Elon himself announced that the billions in proceeds will be used to buy Bitcoin. Otherwise this is pure speculation that does not have any basis at all. Elon is not Saylor in terms of supporting Bitcoin.

But will he buy Doge instead? Again this is pure speculation that has zero basis. But what is clear is that Elon is not really a crypto guy. He's got other more important business to think of.
People do make out some assumptions even it wasnt been confirmed. No one really knows on where Elon would be using up those money whether it would be put up on other projects or investments that he do have in mind or would really be pouring up all of these amounts to Bitcoin? Elon's involvement on crypto doesnt automatically means that he would be focusing on pouring up his funds into this market.
People shouldnt assume because on the time that it would be proven out or some words from Elon then they would really get disappointed incase it wasnt really the thing that they are
expecting on.
Yes, and it could be bad or good (making assumptions), we can also have our hunch on what Elon will do in the future. But for now, since he has sold his bitcoin and have been putting doge in his mouth for years now, I will also says that he is no longer a bitcoin supporter, not unless he shows proof again that he bought or his company started reinvesting again. And with that, he no longer can influence the market like before wherein every statement of his was taken very positively resulting in the price moving upward. Times has change and its better this way now. No manipulation whatsoever coming from this crypto influencer.
1513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis VS Hector Luis Garcia SAT, JAN 07, 2023 on: January 06, 2023, 04:18:41 AM
Gervonta Davis won the thread poll for a knockdown and also won the favorites in our bookies.

Not worth the bet for small amounts.
I guess just predicting what round this will end is the only profitable gamble. Who is in for an early KO? He is a KO specialist with 25 of 27 fights so there's a high chance it will end with Garcia lying on the mat.
It's the when that will not be easy to guess.
Round 1 - x28
Round 2 - x22
Round 3 - x17
Round 4 - x14
Round 5 - x12
(Stake.com odds.)
Not bad if you bet $100 on every round. Only if you think it will end early.

Under 7.5 rounds in Sportsbet looks attractive at 2.26. And I think majority of us here thinks this is going to be an early exit for Davis. He wanted this fight to end up early because he wants to rest before taking on Ryan Garcia.

So the more the round goes over 7.5, the more Davis will tired.

So for those who wanted to have a good bet but not riskier as per round, maybe that under is the bet that we should look at.

1514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 06, 2023, 02:57:33 AM
Speaking of Ennis though, he will be in the undercard of the Tank Davis vs Hector Garcia, so perhaps for some, it will be their first time to see him and tell if he has what it takes to challenge Spence because we have been hearing that he is a risk to Spence at this point and that's why he doesn't want to fight him. So very interesting to see.

I believed though that it will be Kieth Thurman that Spence will chose in his next fight. He is just simply putting hype on it.
1515  Economy / Speculation / Re: January bitcoin price out look on: January 06, 2023, 12:46:58 AM
Guys, please stop talking about the Chinese New year, it doesn't have an impact on the price itself. I saw it already in the past and there are no correlation whatsoever.

You can look at it's past history and you will see that there are no pattern, on the flipside, prices are going down during this holiday.

So this January, gonna be slow obviously, first month of the year, nothing much will happen unless there is a break out in the positive upside.
1516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin survived the Christmas market pressure on: January 05, 2023, 04:54:20 AM

Is this an indication of the bullish market in the year 2023 where Bitcoin will break 20,000 in the early weeks of the year?
Not sure if this is going to be possible because we have here already , week after January started yet staying at 16k though there are small increase at least hundred dollars since yesterday?
but this is not enough to expect a 20k breaking just this closing the month.

Yes, hopefully we can catch that $17k price again, we have a short rally at around $16,800-$16,900. And this is just the start of the month. But the biggest mental support that we need to get back is $20 as you have said.

At least we feel confident that we might not hit another lower lows and and that $15,500 is the lowest already in this bear market.

So survived the pressure in 2022, but there could be more pressure though, just saying. And so we just need to relax and panic, let the market flows naturally and soon we might be in the $20k range again, maybe not this January, but for sure we will get to it.
1517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Islamic Coin, a Fact or a Delusion for Hype. on: January 05, 2023, 04:22:24 AM
Yeah, as others mentioned, we should avoid this kind of project at all cost. And if I'm not mistaken, we haven't seen any successful crypto that bear the name of Islam or any religion for that matter. Maybe we are too smart and knows what the inner workings of it behind, or it didn't sell to their followers.

So easy P&D for them, and hopefully no one will fall for this trick as this has been rehearsed many times, hopefully this is the case.

And for the people behind this project, they should be assumed of themselves.
1518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 05, 2023, 04:05:46 AM
Yet the governing bodies and committees are turning to a blind eye because even them have also participated these stunts as they are also getting some benefits about these things.

That was a big allegation from you, mate. I doubt that was always the case.

Boxing associations especially the 4 four recognized as major boxing bodies won't just do some sh*t.

Maybe there are controversial results but that is something we can't directly accuse the boxing association are joining that kind of crap.
You can read one here, and as we have suspected, WBC is one body that is being branded as corrupt,

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/346325-47-years-of-rotten-boxing-decisions-and-the-wbc-is-still-going-strong

This allegations has been ongoing for years now that I must say that it is hard to deny. As the saying goes, if there is smoke, there's a fire.

Quote
The WBC was established by 11 countries in Mexico City on February 14, 1963 upon invitation of Mexico’s President Adolfo Lopez Mateos. Ironically they were formed to achieve the unity of all commissions of the world to control the expansion of boxing. They have done anything but that in their 47 years. I would like to give a shoutout to WBC President Jose Suliamn for being the man pulling the strings on some of the worst decisions ever seen in the sports world.

You can search it mate, there are even Youtube video who exposes it or give their thoughts as what this corruption is.
1519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 05, 2023, 03:36:39 AM
Anyone see the game between the Pacers and the Sixers? no Joel, but they took the lead majority of the game, until it was down in the 4 minute mark wherein the Pacers take a 4 point lead.

However, they force several turn over and tie the score and force OT. And we all know that when the team that chases and force that OT, they usually have the momentum and so this what happen to them, Pacers got tired the whole regular quarters and then the home team has the final push, 129-126 score.
1520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: January 05, 2023, 03:00:35 AM

If you were able to read the before Spence vs Crawford thread, I'm sure you might end up being crazy for the amount of criticism that Spence received there lol. Just friendly advice that don't take those seriously and just try to keep up with the discussion.

The most reason is, Spence seemed to avoid Crawford at all times which I don't believe honestly. In terms of strength, I even pick Spence over Crawford for about a 60% chance of winning. However, boxing fans end up disappointed as the supposed clash between them is almost close to reality last year but still got failed.

Moving forward after that failed negotiation, Crawford was able to secure a TKO win against David Avanesyan last month. On the other hand, Spence got involved again in a car accident, although not that serious, and expected to return to the ring either in April or May but his opponent is still unknown.

I think boxing has become more about profits than the best matchmaking. It's a reason why the UFC has taken over and become more popular.

If you have followed boxing for a while you will know that is how Al Haymon operates. Why do you think Mayweather/Pacquiao took so long to get made?
You also have to factor networks as well, that could one reason why it took years for Mayweather vs Pacman to happen, but at least Arum delivered it and become the biggest PPV in history of boxing.

Al Haymon though is very different as compare to Arum, We can hate Top Rank but at least when Arum knows that he will make some money then he will for it. Haymon though wanted all the money for his PBC fighters and doesn't want to fight others on the opposite side like Top Rank fighters, in house money for him or nothing.
