CoinChat is still the best there is. If you come to #scramblebot Ill even give you a welcome tip.

Coinchat is only good for small amounts of BItcoins. Please do the math and see if its worth your time.

How small?

I've always been curious about this. Anyone have any experience?

Pretty nice. Good work.
1743  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are repeating 2012, not 2011 on: September 16, 2013, 12:11:58 AM
We're not repeating anything, because this is the only year in which a major exchange is having money problems.
This is a good point.
1744  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do YOU value Bitcoins worth? on: September 16, 2013, 12:11:01 AM
Depends whether I'm thinking about my trading funds or my cold storage wallets.
1745  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 15, 2013, 09:28:25 PM
Mostly, I dont like trading in this market because is too unpredictable.
This is my thinking, too.
1746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are you spreading the word about bitcoins? on: September 15, 2013, 09:26:01 PM
I've given a few bitcoins out here and there in pre-loaded wallets. Talked about it to more than a handful of people. Most people scratch their heads, though...
1747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small Town Mayor in Michigan Starts Accepting Bitcoin on: September 15, 2013, 09:24:26 PM
Mayoral candidate in a town of about 10,000 is looking to BTC to provide a simple and effortless way to accept donations from any supports, or even just simple Bitcoin advocates. Please check out the page and let us know what you think.

http://www.barnettformayor.com/bitcoins

Disclosure: I approached the candidate and asked that they start accepting Bitcoin. Credit to Mark Warden in New Hampshire for being the pioneer on this front.

Interesting that this guy -- incumbent no less, right? -- didn't wait, like most I think are, for regulatory guidance. Interesting indeed.
1748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe 1-confirmation transactions if there is no 51% attack? on: September 15, 2013, 09:23:03 PM
If that happens is because you suddendly were in the other side of the fork and spent the same coins again. But if you were in the other side, then you'd see the original transaction unconfirmed again and would become aware that something is happening. ie if no one is 51% attacking the network, then only you could double spend your own coins.

If a transaction is rolled back to unconfirmed state in a few minutes, it's too late, coz the customer already received service they paid for. Sad
Yep! I imagine a merchant, recipient, etc. should weigh the value against various factors to determine risk/reward. I do find it surprising to see zero confirmations allowed in some places.

Whether or not I support it... I just don't see this happening, so...

Any speculation as to what the rules for transaction fees will look like?
1751  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fed up waiting on: September 15, 2013, 09:15:22 PM
Hello

So I ordered a BFL Jalapeno on the 3/27/13 got fed up waiting so I purchased a USB Block Erupter to play with bfgminer. Now the price has dropped on the Erupter and it wont even pay for its self anytime soon.

Where does a newbie go from here?

Would like to setup a diy low power hobby hash farm with a  Cubox-i or raspberry - but what asic should I invest in?

BFG
Bitfury ASIC 25GHs Starter Kit
BF1 USB miners
KnCMiner
cointerra

This is why pre-orders are such scams. So many people buying hardware when they can't realistically determine ROI (and generally when they get it, it will not pay for itself barring a new bubble). This BTC economy is fucked up.

Ditto this. I highly advise against most/all pre-orders on general principle. ROI is a huge gamble. And many of these companies are just shady, too...
1752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Online Wallet? on: September 15, 2013, 09:14:25 PM
I'm looking for the best secure online wallet. Any suggestions?

It's all in the signature.  Wink

I like that I can set a 48-hour limit for outgoing transactions. So if I want a 48-hour "cold wallet" I can set the limit to 0. It's nice to have the limit low on the off chance that my wallet gets compromised as well as my PIN.
1753  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: September 15, 2013, 09:09:09 PM
Within the next year or 2, I'm pretty sure. But this bubble needs to finish deflating first. Mt Gox's problems have really distorted the market.
1754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [SELLING] Bitcointalk.org Hero Member for sell on: September 15, 2013, 09:07:56 PM
Only thieves and scammers would buy such account.

not really...
with a hero account you can sell your signature, for example

This. Not saying scammers wouldn't buy a hero account -- not saying that at all. But with some signature services, for example, 2k posts is worth quite a bit.

Good chance the account is hacked, though.....  Undecided

1757  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Inputs.io | Instant Payments, Offchain API, Secure Wallet, 82000 BTC transferred on: September 15, 2013, 12:27:19 AM
Website seems slow today.
Yep, I logged in but can't load my transactions.

It has been running too slowly lately.

Are there any serious issues happening out there?

Is there any solution for that matter?
I was wondering as well. I've had a small transaction trickle in as a test and nothing went awry. But I don't want to do anything serious with my wallet until this is resolved.

Anyone heard from TradeFortress? I haven't seen him around since this began.
1758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Giving away 3 BTC divided equally to 50 Bitcointalk forum members on: September 15, 2013, 12:16:08 AM
Shaking my head, looking through this thread.
1759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying BTC.... WTF?! on: September 15, 2013, 12:14:24 AM
I'd make a deal P2P. It can be nice to buy codes as well if you feel more comfortable holding fiat until you hit your buy target.
1760  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins are not a stable currency? on: September 15, 2013, 12:12:53 AM
If you talk to people around here, the value can only go up, uP, UP! So.... that means buy BUY BUY!  Roll Eyes
