1401  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 21, 2013, 05:06:40 PM
2-6 weeks for EUR withdrawals? I've been reading posts around the forum saying Gox non-USD withdrawals are working fine..... is this "fine"? If so, these are just shills running around saying things are "fine"....
1402  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp is goxing? on: October 21, 2013, 05:04:28 PM
We kindly ask users who are unable to verify their account but have a balance with Bitstamp to please submit a support ticket here: https://www.bitstamp.net/support/ where you will be given further instructions for the resolution of your case.

100% bullshit.  I submitted FIVE TICKETS all 24 hours apart and EVERY SINGLE ONE was answered with a cut-and-paste reply telling me to send you identity-theft-enabling documents.  Finally I had to hack your API to get my coins back.

The "further instructions" are a hoax.

You people are thieves.  Get lost.

Wow, glad that some people were able to get around it this way. How is Bitstamp going about dealing with people who can't verify?
1403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Uptick in "Bitcoin" Google searches on: October 21, 2013, 05:01:03 PM

Ah, that actually makes perfect sense, I think. Thanks for pointing this out. Well, any news is good news, right?  Smiley
1404  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRC Coin Supply Rate on: October 21, 2013, 04:59:09 PM
Are you sure that 55K coins are created daily?

no idea i'm collecting cheapies off bottom the exchange = weak hands!!!  Grin T3RR4C((((((01NNNNN

Really? Wow, good luck. Of all the older alt-coins, TRC looked to me like it was one of the most assured to die off a slow, painful death.
1405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: October 21, 2013, 04:57:39 PM
I made a Thread for dvc in China.

http://btc8.com/thread-40-1-1.html

dvc address:1EHFiE8vMiUwtTuf1QHkMTFDH2nHimx4HX

General consensus is that scrypt coins are going to be murdered from upcoming fpga dumpers and metged mined with btc coins are more stable from 51% attacks than scrypt coins.

This is good for dvc.

Hmmmmm, glad to hear this perspective. I have been unsure where alts are going to go -- except for down, generally (which makes sense, being traded against BTC). But this makes sense.
1406  Economy / Speculation / Re: Uptick in "Bitcoin" Google searches on: October 21, 2013, 04:54:15 PM
Unfortunately, this doesn't tell us much about future search trends..... it could have already reversed by now.  Smiley
1407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 21, 2013, 04:52:46 PM
It's funny seeing a lot of the uber bulls who more or less disappeared after the April crash coming back talking about 5-10x growth by next [day, week, etc]. I'm getting nervous reading this crap.
1408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi! I'm a graduate student studying the bitcoin community. on: October 21, 2013, 12:10:57 AM
Hi everyone,

I want to introduce myself: my name is Caitie Lustig and I am a graduate student in the Informatics department at the University of California, Irvine.  I am just beginning my research on the bitcoin community and am excited to be a member of this forum.  It seems like there's a lot of research about the bitcoin community that's been focused on the technical aspects of bitcoin but not the community aspect, and there's been a lot of news articles about bitcoin that are a bit sensationalist.

So, I want to do something different.  I really want to learn from you guys about what's actually happening in the community and why you're drawn to bitcoin.  I really want to hear your stories and what you like about it.

Anyway, I'll also be making another post in the next day or two that links to my survey about bitcoin.  It's for the first part of my research project and if you have a chance to fill it out, it'll help me a lot.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you here Smiley
Hi Caitie, welcome to our community! I think for many of us, it is a combination of honest money and speculation..... because, after all, when you realize your fiat money is worth less and less, and bitcoin is worth more and more..... well, that's a big draw for bitcoin! Anyway, welcome!  Smiley
1409  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning Bitcoins on: October 21, 2013, 12:08:44 AM
What ways are there to earn Bitcoins that are not mining or buying them ?  Guess what I'm asking is are there jobs that pay in Bitcoin ?
Y'know earning the good old fashioned way, honorable, away from the games of speculation and all the sordidness that comes with that.
If people had ways to earn Bitcoin other than using a country's currency than maybe these so-called powers couldn't manipulate their laws to accuse bitcoiners of whatever they think up;  laundering, etc.
Trade between fiat or altcoins and bitcoin. Post jobs you're willing to do or stuff you're willing to sell. You could always try to develop a good gambling system or code and try to build up a bankroll that way.
1410  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello on: October 21, 2013, 12:07:00 AM
Hello,

i'm observing the bitcoin situation now for months and tried to mining some with my GPU at home.
i noticed that this has no sence and now i decided to buy some shares with 50 GH/s here at bitcointalk.

i hope to get a little bit more involved in this whole topic.

be glad to be here.

greetz.

Welcome to the forum, 0815er. Good luck with mining.... I think I tried to start mining way too late, and I've given up. Just trying to buy on dip to maximize my bitcoin holdings. Anyway, welcome!
1411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Malware infected account, what do I do? on: October 21, 2013, 12:05:13 AM
TradeFortress rating is from 2013-07-17, 3 months old. Why do you bring up the issue now?

I just realized

 Roll Eyes

Kind of a cryptic message, though. Maybe trying PMing him from another account. Not sure what else you could do... I've never seen this before.  Huh
1412  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there a problem with BTC-E lately? on: October 20, 2013, 11:59:59 PM
Troll box seems to indicate that all is well. BTC has been cheaper than Bitstamp for quite some time now.... it's always been a hassle to get money in, but better for bigger amounts since they started taking US wires I think. I thought they were still working.... sorry, no experience, personally.
1413  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What exchanges to include? on: October 20, 2013, 11:27:38 PM
I've heard it's hard to fund a BTC-E account with dollars. I'm not sure -- I funded it P2P on the forum originally and have since only deposited BTC, not fiat. But yeah, Bitstamp and BTC-E.... maybe CampBX? Do they have any market share at this point? BTCChina maybe, for reference, since the Chinese market has become more important. No idea what it takes to fund a CNY account, though.
1414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How you can get your first bitcoin? on: October 20, 2013, 11:25:06 PM
If you're happy with a few satoshis, you can frequent faucets. The gambling sub-forum has a bunch of giveaways for like a bitcent. You could always post offering a service for bitcoin, or sell something you own. Or trade.  Smiley
1415  Other / Off-topic / Re: Most bitcoiner-friendly country? on: October 20, 2013, 11:22:28 PM
I believe now all countries are Bitcoin friendly. So far they dont care and Bitcoin is not included in special laws. But these times will end after Bitcoin goes mainstream
Not totally sure about that. Wasn't there something about bitcoin being illegal in Thailand? And the US government seizing money from MT Gox means they're nosing around in bitcoin businesses rather than leaving them be. We'll see how the US ends up treating bitcoin down the road...
1416  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is about to explode. on: October 20, 2013, 11:19:12 PM
Well, OP was right, I guess. Bitcoin did explode a month later.... question is, will we reach $1000 next year? Some people think we are going to reach $1000 on this rally -- not sure about that -- but I definitely have a few coins to sell at $1000 if we get there soon.  Cool
1417  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Guy! Hello on: October 20, 2013, 11:17:14 PM
Hey BitcoinTalk Community.

New here,  Hope to learn lots from you all.    Heard about Bitcoin about a year or so ago.   I started mining  about 3 months ago give or take.   Looking to learn more  and maybe help someone out along the way.

Thanks for listening  Grin

NocTurNalFX

Good luck mining! I felt I missed that boat and was better off just buying and trading, since pre-orders are so speculative (and frankly, scammy). Anyway, welcome to bitcointalk - glad to have you here in our community!
1418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin dead ? on: October 20, 2013, 11:13:52 PM
Okay, so we are in agreement, then? Litecoin is, in fact, dead? Excellent, now I can avert disaster and pull my bid orders for when it fell to < $1.... thanks for the heads up, all!  Cool
1419  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Gox runs out of Bitcoins? on: October 20, 2013, 11:08:45 PM
Gox will sell coins it does not have just like it is doing with fiat.

This is one of my fears.... allowing Gox to stretch this whole situation out all that much longer. It's a shame that so many people around here still appear to trade on their platform.  Undecided
1420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: October 20, 2013, 11:02:25 PM
What do you guys think of this latest rally? Are we going to blast right through $200 after this consolidation, or are we going to see dumps soon, bringing us back to pre-parabolic levels?
