1301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market has peaked, sell off incoming. on: October 25, 2013, 09:44:04 PM
Wave 5 completed, ABC corrective should end in price territory of Wave 4... ie $120-$150.
Curious, what kind of confirmation do you look for to conclude that Wave 5 has ended? Not too knowledgeable about wave theory.  Smiley
1302  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy on panics & sell on rallies on: October 25, 2013, 08:59:48 PM
Yeah, generally I try to buy when price is falling and take fiat profits as price rises. Careful not to sell too much into any rally, though, because I'm pretty sure this market will eventually run me over and lift off forever... hopefully by that time, I have enough coins.
1303  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bubble Popped on: October 25, 2013, 05:36:53 PM
Well it was quite a drop, and I wasn't happy to see it.  But it's fairly typical for Bitcoin lately.
Hey it's just like coming down from an acid trip. No ones happy about it.
I suppose that depends how much of your portfolio is in dollars, and whether your bids filled on the way down.  Smiley
1304  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden new largest bitcoin address as of 10/25 on: October 25, 2013, 05:33:46 PM
Just for clarity, they are NOT the FBI's bitcoins now.   Like all seized assets, IF the accused is convicted (that takes some time although less time if he has no money and is going to use a PD) then the FBI will liquidate these seized assets.   Cash, they keep.   Everything else gets auctioned off.   It is likely these BTC wallet(s) will be auctioned IF a conviction is achieved.

That's not necessarily true. It may be true in most criminal forfeitures, but not civil forfeitures. The government in this case, AFAIK, can file a civil forfeiture case in parallel to the criminal case, suing the property, and if Ulbricht can't prove they aren't proceeds of illegal activity, they are the government's. No need for conviction in that case. No idea what they are doing, though.
1305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - China wall movement tracker on: October 25, 2013, 05:25:25 PM

Sell pressure seems to be drying up a bit. ¥1,040.02 Last price.
1306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - China wall movement tracker on: October 25, 2013, 05:03:16 PM

Sell wall down quite a bit. Perhaps 1000 CNY will hold and this is the local bottom.
1307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we have two bubbles in one year? on: October 25, 2013, 04:55:01 PM
This rally might have been the real dead cat bounce. Bitcoin market is growing up and things take more time than they used to.
What are you telling me here? We going sub-50 levels?  Huh
1308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden new largest bitcoin address as of 10/25 on: October 25, 2013, 04:52:58 PM
I thought that story was some pretty awesome conspiracy theory porn, but I don't know how believable it is.
1309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - China wall movement tracker on: October 25, 2013, 04:51:39 PM

Eek. Those sell walls popped up pretty quick. Popcorn time. 1000 CNY to hold?  Cheesy
1310  Economy / Speculation / Re: Less risk now then ever to buy Bitcoin? on: October 25, 2013, 04:47:32 PM
If you have the balls, now is certainly not a bad time to buy BTC.  Take a step back and look at what fundamentals are telling you compared to what your emotions are telling you (fear).
I picked up 5 or 6 coins on the way down, woke up to see my bids down to $156 (BTC-E) had filled. Was hoping we'd go a bit lower.  Tongue

Just sayin'.
1311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Less risk now then ever to buy Bitcoin? on: October 25, 2013, 04:40:01 PM
I have to say, this thread smacks of desperation. SELL SELL SELL.  Tongue
1312  Economy / Speculation / Re: wow, mtgox btcusd < bitstamp btcusd: 10:42pm 10.24.2013, or so bitcoinity says on: October 25, 2013, 06:11:41 AM
It may have been possible last night, there were a few quick 'flash crashes' where the prices were all over the place.
I'm pretty sure Gox only hit 175. That's what Clark Moody, Gox and Bitcoinity all say now.
1313  Economy / Speculation / Re: wow, mtgox btcusd < bitstamp btcusd: 10:42pm 10.24.2013, or so bitcoinity says on: October 25, 2013, 05:56:53 AM
I always double check anytime something seems to be happening on bitcoinity. I like it, but I just wish it was more reliable... it's way off all the time.
1314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - China wall movement tracker on: October 25, 2013, 04:21:11 AM

1150 cny broke on btcchina, saw it hit 1142. 1149 last price.
1315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 25, 2013, 04:12:13 AM
Looks like btcChina is about to lead us into another dive.

dive dive dive dive dive dive dive

I wonder how this will play out without bitstamp being operational?

My guess is it wont end up being a major drop, but if it is.. imagine all the people lined up trying to log on to bitstamp and panic sell.

What isn't operational about bitstamp? The website loads for me. Is just the engine down?
Ditto, what's going on? I don't have anything on there so I'm not trading, but I've been watching the ticker move for the last 20 minutes. Didn't seem like anything was amiss.
1316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto-Trade Representative! on: October 25, 2013, 01:40:48 AM
Hmmm. Well, always good to see more exchanges... anyone have any opinions? I generally wait for a vouch or three before looking into it too much.
1317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests on: October 25, 2013, 01:39:36 AM
Honestly, being whitelisted is now as easy as posting once and coming back to the computer four hours later. It doesn't seem like it's worth mods' time, but what do I know...
1318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chances of $150 again on: October 24, 2013, 11:36:29 PM
I had a small bid fill at $153 last night on BTC-E. That was nice.  Cheesy
1319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: October 24, 2013, 08:26:43 PM
Could have played this correction better. I got lucky that I happened to take profits ~ $195-200 (BTC-E) before the dumping began.... managed to come out slightly ahead in coins at the end.... pretty marginal, though. Oh, well.
1320  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will the price of BTC be when 22M people want 1 BTC each? on: October 24, 2013, 12:52:25 AM
I think we are pretty far from there. Also, when 22M people want bitcoin, I think they will want much less than 1 each by then. Too few coins.  Smiley (well "want" and "can acquire" are two different things I guess)
