ID is same as here (MAbtc). I made withdrawal #162. Did I do it correctly? Thanks.  Smiley
1124  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long until BTC hits $300 on: November 04, 2013, 05:03:36 AM
Anyone have ideas on this Smiley
I would be nice to see what everyone has to say!
At this rate, I'd say it won't be long. Buying pressure is heating back up after quite a slow-down / consolidation period. I'd say we're pushing for a new all-time high in the next couple weeks, and then $300 is not far off at all.

1126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does selling during a decline guarantee a sell or can you ride it to the bottom? on: November 04, 2013, 04:55:01 AM
I've read about the moving averages theories on when to buy and sell but was curious if a sale was guaranteed when you click the sell button.  Basically, if BTC is selling for $250 but it begins a downward trend and I choose to sell at $240, is that sale guaranteed to happen? Or am I dependent on buyers who are willing?  Is there a worry that during a decline a sell command doesn't happen at $240 (since everyone sees it declining and doesn't buy) and I am unable to actually sell the BTC until it levels out at the bottom of its decline? Is there a way to avoid this?
Does the exchange location change this answer? If I sell at Mt Gox, is it more likely to go through than if I sell in Coinbase?
Finally, is the reverse true? If there is an upward spike I can click buy, will it go through or is it possible that the sellers choose to not sell at the price and wait to see how high demand takes the price?

Thank you for your help! I'm studying the theory of buying and selling but want to make sure the reality is feasible. If I can't actually sell when the signs say so then this is much riskier than originally thought.
You can only sell at a price someone who wants to buy.

If you want to sell for sure, choose 'sell by market price' option provided by some exchanges. If your exchange does not provide this option, you could sell at '0' or a reasonable lowest price you can accept. The system will choose the best bids for you.
This is pretty much the only way. Even market selling on Bitstamp is problematic in this situation, because they will fill your order at that price, and if there is any left over, your order will sit as a limit order. If you want to be sure, you have to place a sell order way below market, and hope it fills near the top. Panic selling is dangerous!

Welcome to the forum, and good luck mining! With difficulty as it is, I would look into mining altcoins. Like mining bitcoin, it is also very speculative, though.
1128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Will Bitcoin price pass All Time High before year's end? on: November 04, 2013, 04:46:08 AM
there might be correction but it probably won't be as big as some people are expecting for few reasons: first there is many more people waiting for a correction and second a lot of people finally learned a lesson that it is way more profitable to just hold instead of playing gamble and hoping to buy back more for cheaper.
Still a lot of dumb money / weak hands entering the market. There will be corrections, to be sure, and how deep they are will depend more on price velocity I think. Not sure if I will be trying to trade them much, though.

You call it dumb money because you were betting the market would go down.

Its like people dont think the market ever go to ATHs again. Yeah, everyone says to $1000 or to $10k, but people have a hard time believing $270.
No, I call it that because they are just following the trend and buying into a rally. I don't really see where you are coming from here. It's like you didn't even read my post. I just said there will be corrections. I didn't say we wouldn't reach an all time high or anything remotely like that. And I haven't bet the market would go down generally; only catching dips. I haven't lost any coins. But I had started to feel bearish before momentum turned again, and fortunately, that low volume trading range allowed me to get back in at a profit.

We just had a correction and consolidation. Todays up trend was about as obvious as they come. I expect follow through this week.
Yes. I agree. That doesn't conflict with anything I said.

There was a time when I would waste time on faucets. Back then, even, they gave you more. There are much better ways to get BTC, I think. I do think, though, that we could use a better job market!  Smiley

Hello and welcome to the forums! Are you a programmer as well, or just an entrepreneur?
I am both, better at the latter, however!
Hi, and welcome to the forum. Out of curiosity, do you have any bitcoin-related projects that you are working on at the moment?  Smiley
1132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Gear or Invest? on: November 03, 2013, 08:02:20 PM
Ditto others who suggested buying vs. buying mining equipment. That's just me, though, because mining is so speculative. If you mine the right coins at the right time, I'm sure you'll end up ahead. But that's not a given!

1134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Brains on: November 03, 2013, 07:44:45 PM
Hi guys, we are Bitcoin Brains, a new brick and mortar Bitcoin store opening soon in Calgary Alberta.

We are aiming to open sometime in mid-November.

Our goal is to make Bitcoin and all related technologies more accessible to the general public.

We will be selling mining equipment, Tresor Wallets,  Piper Printers and any other Bitcoin related products that we can think of.

I'd love to hear some feedback from the community. Tell me what kinds of products/services you would like to see in store.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Awesome to hear! Hopefully this is just the start of a new trend in this direction. Glad to have you on the forums, Bitcoin Brains. Welcome!  Cheesy

1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New member on: November 03, 2013, 07:42:07 PM
Hi All,

I'm new here but I have been interested in bitcoin since it was covered on the Feb 9, 2011 episode of Security Now with Steve Gibson of grc.com. Like many others, I kick myself daily that I did not risk several hundred dollars on this "experiment" back then when it was trading 1 to 1 with USD.

See you all around!
Yep, kicked myself too for not getting in until 2012. I actually had a wallet and a few coins back in 2010, forgot about them, and the laptop they were on (wallet never backed up) is long gone. Doh!
1137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think BTC will hit $200? on: November 03, 2013, 07:40:57 PM
Buying pressure was waning, but every time momentum wants to dip into negative territory, buying pressure perks up again. I think we may see growth into an epic bubble sooner than later. Before next year. I'm not trading this market anymore... just going to hold my BTC for a while.
1138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2013, 07:31:10 PM
I've never seen Gox ask sum this low (25K ATM).  Must mean something.

Means people would rather have btc than gox dollarz...  no shock there. Btw fuck gox Grin
Yep. There's been a lot of good opportunities to get funds to other exchanges -- inter-exchange spread closed in a lot for a while and still much improved from a couple weeks ago. Some people still want some Gox bucks, though.  Smiley
1139  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC at $205? Should I buy into a rally? on: November 03, 2013, 07:14:13 PM
(Shrug) I have no idea these days. Momentum kept dropping but keeps bouncing. I sold a bunch at $198-199 BTC-E and proceeded to buy it all back at very negligible profit. I'm not gonna trade this market for a while. My feeling is that I can probably accumulate more BTC other ways...
