Can you please give a link to "currency exchange forum"?
Thanks

Sigh. I am seeing more of these posts, unfortunately, which does not surprise during a big rally like this, with new money coming in. I trade on BTC-E, but their support leaves much to be desired. I only send coins in, sell, buy back, and send coins out. I would hate trying to fund an account with dollars. If I had to do that, I'd go to the currency exchange forum and try to trade for a BTC-E code.
Sure, here is a link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0
PS: Be careful, and always use escrow!

When bitcoin is stable, everyone complains. When bitcoin is volatile everyone else complains. :-)

i'm happy at $350. Let it sink in. Marinate in it. Get used to the idea of it being the bottom. :-)
I don't mind some consolidation. But getting used to $350 bottom? Nah, I don't think so. We've got a ways to go up, and a ways to go down.  Smiley
1043  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How Bitstamp steals your money ... on: November 12, 2013, 10:43:41 PM
I've sent my id card (i'm from Romania) and they seemed to be ok with that. On the other hand residence proof is much more complicated.

They accept paper utility bills (not electronic) sent to my name and my address or some form of local institution issued paper. I'm renting an apartment so utility bills don't have my name on them. Phone bill is on my name but it's electronic only. On the back of my id card the local police updates my residence address every year, i've sent them that but they refused it without explanation. I've sent my rent contract valid for entire 2013, they've also refused it because it was issued more then 3 months ago, WTF ... I can only validate an account during a 3 month window ?

Long story short, if you live in the 21st century and receive only electronic bills or rent an apartment and you don't have much paperwork on your name you're screwed! And if you've had some cash with them before enabling this policy ... you're double screwed!!
Strange, I only receive electronic statements from my utility. It was fine for the purposes of verification on Bitstamp.
1044  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase just scammed me for over $1000 on: November 12, 2013, 10:24:34 PM
Regardless of exactly how the Coinbase transaction was initiated and cancelled, the OP's issue is with US regulation, not Coinbase's business practices.

Money services businesses have to obey aggressive KYC and AML processes or face the possibility of huge fines or getting shut down.
I would like to see a modicum of evidence that suggests this has anything to do with KYC/AML restrictions. I have seen none to date.

Coinbase is shady as hell. Don't use them.

Inputs.io was hacked not CL so us CL users shouldn't have to bear a burden. If TF held coins from CL in Inputs.io that's not our problem we CL users know that we deposited our coins on CL to earn interest
and nothing more. So we should be able to retrieve our coins and all interest earned.
That's all well and good. The fact of the matter is that TF is unlikely to be able to repay CL users in full. Also, using a service run by TF indeed makes the inputs.io hack "your problem" as TF has no way to repay his obligations as a result of it.

If you want to talk ethics, then inputs.io users should bear no burden either. But such is life.
1046  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ripple competition on: November 12, 2013, 08:47:55 PM
So far, the only example of usefulness of Ripple in this thread is to support arbitrage across exchanges, but only if those exchanges accept Ripple.  I understand that would be extremely useful for traders who regularly trade in multiple currencies.

But why should the average Bitcoin user, who only has one type of fiat, bitcoins, and does some light trading on one exchange (coinbase/bitstampl/btcchina) even care about Ripple? Should they be lobbying their fiat banking institution to get connected to the Ripple network so that they can trade easier at international exchanges?
When people I know need to take payment, they want dollars (or local currency), not bitcoin. If Ripple can facilitate that cheaply, instantly and securely, I'm all for that. The usefulness of Ripple doesn't have much to do with bitcoin.
1047  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help trading, suffered big loss! on: November 12, 2013, 08:44:17 PM
Your analysis needs to be deeper than this if you want to trade this market. Be aware that most traders will lose. If you are going to trade, keep in mind that for inexperienced traders, dollar-cost averaging is likely the best way to take advantage of market movements.

Never mix dust with you main Bitcoin wallet keep it in a separate wallet.
Indeed, this is good advice. This was actually one of the useful things about inputs.io...you could send endless dust and the output transaction fees were always the same.
1050  Economy / Services / Re: The oldest sig ad campaign - get 0.3 BTC/month for free! No need to keep posting on: November 12, 2013, 07:18:41 PM
Are inputs.io users still being payed back? Or will i never see that money back? I had two different accounts, neither of them have been refunded yet.
Have people stopped receiving refunds? I received 78% of the amount held in my main wallet (took 2 days to confirm) and most of the < .1 BTC balances on 2 other wallets.
I sent a request on the 7th (although the balance is tiny, only some mBTC), but haven't received either funds nor an answer yet.

Why did it take so long to confirm? It doesn't make any sense. BTC for TX's are just pennies. That seems really fishy. What's he sending from?
No fees were sent..... many people's refunds were sent with no fees and we were waiting for days, hoping they would be pushed through. None of my transactions were sent with fees, but I have seen that some of the more recent payouts have been.

Yes, when I emailed him. He gave me a partial refund which he sent fees included.  Although, that doesn't make a difference to me. Because, it my opinion he still owes us the remaining money.
I don't disagree. But I have also come to terms with my losses and moved on. I have more than recouped them in other endeavors. From the looks of it, this is only going to get worse -- much worse, I think. I wouldn't have high hopes.

1052  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinLenders, Inputs.io, Tradefortress (HACK) on: November 12, 2013, 07:11:27 PM
I wouldn't count on it though.

While staying in contact is  laudable, I do not believe TF is being entirely forthcoming with how bad the situation really is.  Expect the worst, hope for the best, and if you have to be surprised, be surprised you get anything back at all.

Don't get me wrong.  I am a business man and a retail investor. I don't hate TF, I am disappointed.  He is bright, articulate, driven, and arrogant - good qualities in an entrepreneur.  He could have been the Warren Buffet of Bitcoin, instead it looks like he's going to be the Bernie Madoff.  Sad

Indeed, the lack of details and the cryptic nature of disclosures, and the subtle shadiness of now implementing an ID verification policy when name/ID was never required to use inputs.io..... this doesn't look good. I really feel for people who are now forced to choose between receiving a % of their money and giving their ID up to a possible scammer who has also shown himself incapable of keeping data secure. And CoinLenders? My goodness..... this looks to become a shitstorm, I think. I am so sorry to all affected.
1053  Economy / Speculation / Re: PANIC BUY!!!! on: November 12, 2013, 06:57:54 PM
I panic sold today on bitfinex at $390.
Geez Bitfinex hit $400? LOL, didn't even notice that. I don't usually click over to that tab on bitcoinity...

There is a "Marketplace\Services" subforum for this sort of posting. I see you are a Jr member, so you can post there, where you will get more responses: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0
1055  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Inputs.io HACKED, 4 100 BTC STOLEN - REFUND DISCUSSION THREAD on: November 12, 2013, 06:14:08 PM
haha, I am really starting to feel sorry for all inputs users. I use coinbase, so I am good! I hope you all can get your money back!
Coinbase is indeed, from the looks of it, far more reputable than Tradefortress--obviously. But beware 3rd party/hosted wallets. Your private keys are not yours. If anything happens -- hacks, etc. -- you could be waiting in line for a drawn out claim process. Only when you control your private keys is your money yours.
1056  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Inputs.io HACKED, 4 100 BTC STOLEN - REFUND DISCUSSION THREAD on: November 12, 2013, 06:12:17 PM
What I'm trying to get to is how somebody managed to steal 4.1 k bitcoins so fast.
This proves that inputs was not secure at all, I thought that there was a cold storage??
No, there was not cold storage. He kept everything in a hot wallet on Linode -- same way Bitcoinica theft happened. Very shady and very convenient scapegoat. He was either extremely negligent or he stole the coins himself.
1057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction stuck with message: "This transaction has a none standard input" on: November 12, 2013, 06:05:05 PM
I opened an incident MANY hours ago and I have not had any reply.

(To be honest, I have created four trouble tickets and have not had any response)

What can I do?

Hope for the best, and stop using MtGox in the future.
This is the best advice anyone in this thread can use. (Well, push them for your coins, obviously. Eventually you should get someone to field your issue)

MT Gox is dying a slow, painful death. I suggest getting out sooner than later.
1058  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost 3 bitcoins on: November 12, 2013, 06:01:44 PM
Just lost three bitcoins. One person asked me to send him bitcoins and after that he will send me money but he didnt. I know i was a fool. Can I get those back somehow?
Did this happen on this forum? If so, it could help the community a great deal to know who this is -- certainly if he was foolish enough to use an alt account tied to the same IP as real account.
1059  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Inputs.io HACKED, 4K+ BTC stolen on: November 12, 2013, 05:59:13 PM
ID would not prove anything because ID was not linked to the account in the first place. I thought TF was actually hacked to begin with. But, now I have changed my mind.
Indeed, ID would prove nothing.

This is super shady, TradeFortress. Any comments? Why have you suddenly instituted a policy that does 0% to reduce fraudulent claims, and will only save you money?

Oh, that's right.....  Roll Eyes
1060  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ripple competition on: November 12, 2013, 05:50:29 PM
I think Ripple could be useful. A liquid network of gateways could vastly improve the efficiency of mobile/web payments generally, and I see no reason why bitcoin can't benefit from Ripple adoption. I think the goal is not decentralization but distribution, and there is some merit to that. As for XRP... I profited a few coins on XRP but I am not comfortable holding it long term. The most I'd ever need is a couple hundred--and with its centralized distribution, it's a crazy speculative gamble that I want no part of. I do like the idea of Ripple as a protocol, but OpenCoin/RippleLabs sort of make me sick, and I also think they shot themselves in the foot by dragging their feet on open sourcing.
