This is why I'm not buying now,
I have no USD.
Same here. I sold some last night and scooped up a couple coins in profit on the last dip down, but now I'm a little uneasy selling... not sure if we're going down anymore.

why would you want to use this? i don't understand the purpose? surely you would not receive payments. the whole circumstances around the hack are suspicious and i would be hesitant to even load the page at this point...
Well you dont get much money off of the site, but it is really good to talk to other people who love bitcoin in real time. Um, isn't that what the troll box is for? I kid, I kid. I don't recommend the troll box to anybody.

I've had some bitcoins since 2010. I don't transact often outside of occasion mid-term trading. Although, during times like the past few days, I do a bit of day trading, too. I play bitcoin poker on Seals with Clubs. Indeed, I am saving coins for the future. I don't plan to sell most of my coins until several years from now.

My outlook hasn't changed. It was obvious that we needed a nice correction. I managed to make a couple coins from it, but I've been back all in since several hours ago. We could go lower, sure, but I think we will rally higher in fairly short order.

Nice! What a nice way to wake up. Almost all my bids filled overnight. Was nervous selling last night. Now I'm almost all in BTC.... can only pick up a bit more if it goes lower....

I trade on BTC-E. There is lower liquidity there, generally, than Gox or Stamp, and panic usually sets in pretty fast there. It can make for a nice quick BTC profit on days like today.
What ways do I get money there and out of there (USD&BTC)? Do they work with paypal or only american bank accounts are allowed? It's Russian. I'm not sure on the options.... I think they take OKPay, EgoPay, some other things like that. I've never tried to use services like that. I would just trade P2P for BTC or BTC-E code.

in short. Banks hate them
So where do you all guys trade your coins, Coinbase? I trade on BTC-E. There is lower liquidity there, generally, than Gox or Stamp, and panic usually sets in pretty fast there. It can make for a nice quick BTC profit on days like today.

I gave my information and document to Gox at one point and regret it. I never ended up trading there, so it was lose-lose. I certainly don't plan on trading there now.

They are just spoofing the address. I've seen this thing going around for quite a while. Should be obvious enough, but definitely don't fall for it.

Unfortunately this is the easiest and best way I know of to easily get USD to BTC. Know of something better?
I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I don't much put dollars into buying coins anymore. In the past, I've made P2P trades in the currency exchange subforum. I'd prefer to do things P2P, in person, etc. I don't like dealing with exchanges, so when I do, it's just to send them coins, sell them, hold fiat for a while, and buy coins to send out again.

Welcome to the forum! Check the stickies for useful information about the forum, and make sure to watch out for scams, phishing tricks, etc. There is much of that around here, unfortunately. On that note, always use escrow for trade. Oh, and use an encrypted wallet that you control, not a 3rd party wallet!

There's nothing to stop them from being developed. But bitcoin is pretty much the only name in town -- it's hard to overcome that. Any new crypto-currency will have to be extremely innovative to overtake bitcoin (and I think that is unlikely). None of the alts-- litecoin, ripple, primecoin, etc-- bring that to the table.

I have never felt comfortable using Coinbase for the reason you mention. They screw far too many people on this "high risk" policy that is quite opaque in nature. I don't recommend them to anybody, and I also don't recommend that people store coins there, since they are a 3rd party hosted wallet.

Nope. I wish I could place a stop loss. Can't on Bitstamp, BTC-E or Gox as far as I know. Maybe on Bitfinex? Anyone know? You can trade with leverage there... maybe you can place stop loss order.

So the fee only occurs when you have funds in the account? I just want to use the to buy or sell BTC, so if I don't buy/sell within a year it's a $50/month fee?
After a year of inactivity they will charge you a $50 fee every month until there are no funds in your account. I remember some online poker sites doing this, and there being a lot of complaints from the community, but I'm not sure what was done about it. Pretty crappy policy, to be honest. Probably just trying to take "free money" from those that forgot about their accounts......

Made a quick .5 or so BTC on this correction but man, I ought to stop trading these before this market runs me over..... order book on BTC-E is not dynamic enough, I can't keep up with all the panic!

My fingers got itchy for a minute but I'm sitting on my hands. I think there's still upside left to this rally. We'll see! Can't risk losing any bitcoins right now...

BTCChina down? Not seeing any movement and the page won't load..... hope we don't see any lag-induced dumping now.....

Some dumps brought it down to 2300 CNY in a hurry. Still some bears on BTCChina, then eh?

I've donated a whopping one time to someone's signature address. I've received a tip a couple times when I had a BTC address in my sig. It's a nice surprise when they come in. Always a mystery where it comes from...
