Welcome to the forum! Check the stickies for lots of useful information. Watch out for scammers. And keep most or all of your bitcoins in an encrypted wallet -- not an online / hosted wallet (like Coinbase). As a recent example, Inputs.io, a hosted wallet, was allegedly hacked for over $1.4 million worth of BTC very recently.

If you want to sell your coins on an exchange, just keep in mind that your coins are not as safe there as in your own encrypted wallet. But what you say is true -- obviously you can't sell your bitcoins when they are in cold storage.

Just look at what happened to inputs.io, anything could happen. If I were you, I'd keep my bitcoins offline.
This is true. At the same time, I don't think we have a basis for comparing Bitstamp to TradeFortress. .....Then again, Bitstamp has not shown in the past to be particularly concerned with compliance. It could come back to bite them, as well as users.

We are just entering New Paradigm: there are now comments appearing on this very forum how Bitcoin market is just different from all others and thus the exponential growth...
Yeah, that's true. Then again, people were saying this $200 ago. Some people were also still saying it as we approached the July low. It may not be the best indicator. This forum has been on hyper-bull for a month, anyway.

Coinbase does this all the time and is frankly shady as hell. I would never touch them, and I would never recommend them to anybody. It doesn't help that they are so newb-friendly, as all this new blood do not understand that with Coinbase, they do not control their own bitcoins -- Coinbase does.
I was thinking "enthusiasm". If it were based on this forum alone, I would say "new paradigm". Although, it wouldn't surprise me to see a massive reversal fairly soon at this rate. That's not to say we don't have some more gains to make first.
When can I post in the other sections?
Won't be long now..... the newbie requirements are much easier to satisfy than they were at some point in time. Anyway, if you're new to BTC, check the stickies for useful info. *And don't use online/hosted wallets! *(for more information on the inputs.io theft, see link in signature)

I used it to collect dust and spare bitcents. But I would never have kept any real money on there. This was waiting to happen. Link with info in sig if you want more info.

Still showing unconfirmed, but at least you don't have a warning that says "less than recommended fees." I have been waiting for 2 days for a no-fee transaction to confirm related to the inputs.io refunds.
People may be uneasy trading with such a new user. Stick around the forums awhile. Use escrow for this trade and do it in the currency exchange sub-forum. Good luck.

Uh oh, did chodpaba say we are starting to run out of steam? I do not take his comments lightly! chodpaba, what indicators are the basis for your indicator?
Looks like the coins have been recently washed. What a fiasco this has been. Sorry to all involved. I'm especially sorry that I advertised for TF.
My partial refund is still not confirmed.
Same here. It's been almost 2 days. I would have gladly taken .0001 less to receive my funds (or, rather, a percentage of them) in a timely fashion...
The circumstances surrounding this are certainly suspicious. At the very least, holding what appears to be the entirety of inputs.io deposits in a hot wallet on a virtual server -- the Bitcoinica way -- was quite negligent, and is a very convenient scapegoat. I have received a percentage of my deposits back, but some transactions are not confirmed on the blockchain.
I apologize to the community for having advertised TradeFortress's services in the past. In hindsight, and in light of past and present circumstances, that was certainly a mistake.

This round is over now yeah?
I believe it ends at block 113,300... so at this rate it seems maybe another day-and-a-half to go, give or a take a few hours.
I now can't post Devtome links on Facebook...? Anyone have this experience? Looking through my old posts, my links to devtome now say "Attachment Unavailable. This attachment may have been removed or the person who shared it may not have permission to share it with you." And when trying to post a link to devtome, it says it is blocked for a security issue. No problems with links to anywhere else.....

BTC-E fees are .2%. What exchange has lower fees than that? It's actually my favorite exchange for BTC as well as altcoins. After being screwed multiple times by Bitstamp's trade engine, BTC-E seems excellent to me.
I remember one time when I transferred some LTC from BTC-E to my wallet. They took a huge amount of fee from the transaction... Oh, transfer fees. Yeah, LTC transfer always seemed pretty steep on there. BTC transfer fee is like .001. But trade fees are low -- that is much more important. Worth it considering the bad market depth and interface of Cryptsy and others.

I have had about 63% repaid. I have a couple other wallets (relatively small amounts) that have not been repaid. Waiting to hear back. If I can get something for those, I'll have done better than I would have expected with this fiasco....

.....So no movement on this? No update, I mean, about what actually happened and how much BTC were lost in total? Seems there are still issues. Hope this does not end up snowballing. I have some BTC stuck on Inputs because of transaction limit setting, but it sounds like I may not be able to retrieve it anyway.
