1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 16, 2023, 07:26:43 PM

Lol! Same here. There are a lot of events every weekend and also some interesting stuff to do that even non-title fights in boxing are not my priority anymore so there's a small chance that I'll be watching fake or scripted or not exhibition games. I did see some of the highlights as it will also show up on my social media feeds.

Floyd Mayweather fought in a nearly empty arena in the UK prior to this fight so they need drama. I just read that Gotti is now suspended for 6 months which is actually nonsense. 2 months of rest, 1 month of negotiation for a rematch, and then 2+ months of training and that's it. That's fewer months than many UFC fighters are waiting on standby to be given a fight. Cheesy

Yup! What he's done attacking Mayweather even though the fight is over have surely made him suspended from some boxing matches, for 6 months but for sure 6 months is just a little time or it is just like taking a rest for him, that is why he was really pissed off that he taken the fight to a brawl, this could surely goes public and Mayweather just wants a highlight in his fight and so he has gotten the highlight he wants,

As Mayweather's manager Leonard Ellerbe said, they are learning a lot from their previous events as to how to successfully stage their next events. Most likely referring to their almost empty event in the UK so they brought the drama on Floyd's event in the US against Gotti.

I wonder if Mayweather's exhibitions are not generating huge money because no big networks are buying his events unlike Jake Paul and KSI whose events are usually under DAZN and Showtime. Not to consider Mayweather's a former Showtime fighter and his current Mayweather Promotions is a dummy of PBC, a partner of Showtime. Or it could be that the networks do not want his events because he takes almost all of the profit which is too risky if in case an event fails to generate income.

Ok there is a rumor circulating around that Canelo's next fight won't be Bivol and not against Benavidez as well.

Again, this is just a rumor, it is said that it will be Canelo va Jermall Charlo. Jermall last fight though is 2019, so not sure why Canelo and his camp are picking a inactive fighter and not even a true 168 super middle weight boxer.

Sure Jermall is a middle champion, but he will have to go up in weight and fight Canelo at his best weight.

And it seems that Canelo is really cherry picking his fight now or someone in his team did. So let's see if this fight is going to be developed and will actually going to happen late this year. This fight though might hit Canelo's legacy as he duck Benavidez and then his rematch with Bivol.

So far, there are two things that might explain why Canelo picked Jermall Charlo instead of picking some bad boy in the same division as him or at least active.

1. They chose Charlo to keep Canelo warmed up until they can establish a negotiating position with Bivol because as of now, Bivol shows no interest in Canelo because of the terms being given to them even after upsetting Canelo in their first clash.

2. Canelo's career is in sundown already and what they are doing right now is just taking advantage of Canelo's fame while he can still sell a fight while picking a much safer boxer that will match the equation. I mean, that fight with John Ryder might be a tune-up but that also revealed Canelo's current situation and most probably revealed the likelihood if he will fight heavy named boxers.

This is weird. Because what I am hearing is that Canelo is 90% close to making a deal against WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack. Not an easy fight for Canelo despite Jack at 39 years old. But should Canelo lose again, he remains undisputed at 168 while he's got the chance to become a 5-division world champion if he beats Jack.

Anyways, should the rumor of Jermall-Canelo is the one to be made, I wonder if the WBC elevates Benavidez as its champion since he is the interim champ and even fought for an unnecessary eliminator.

And this is actually the dream fight Jermall is wishing for years already. He's been avoiding the real fights, including his supposed mandatory against Mungia (WBC got paid or scared to force the mandatory?), and would rather stay inactive to preserve his virgin record for the Canelo lottery.
1242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trade altcoins during the bull run or just hodl? on: June 16, 2023, 06:43:44 PM
I can feel the excitement from you OP. And just like you, I am as well super excited. But before that, we still have plenty of time to work harder and find other ways to earn more in order for us to invest and position more coins before the coming bull run.

If you have extra time, you can start studying trading. Otherwise, we can just hodl. And we have to take note that there are no perfect trades or investments. We just have to be happy and contented every time we feel the urge to sell our positions. If I am not busy next year, I will trade and hodl at the same time.

OP is an example of an ideal bitcoin investor. Made research and study about the fundamentals of bitcoin and the market itself.

And the most important thing is understanding the long-term outlook in bitcoin investing. I believe most people made their research as well about bitcoin and its volatility. The problem arises when they invest money that they cannot afford to lose or the money they invested is meant to be used later. I have known personally some people that invested in bitcoin but then sold them cheaply. There are also people that are investing extra money but the amount is just too big for them to handle when the market continues to drop and their emotions start to bother them.
1244  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 16, 2023, 05:39:08 PM
I spent more than half of my life renting starting the day when I was born. The debate about renting vs owning is not just about finance. There are ups and downs, especially at a young age when you are renting. If money is not much of a problem then renting is cool because you can easily transfer to another place you think you might feel better.

Financially, owning a house is better than renting. Although I doubt that it is common in most places to have a 15% yearly increase on rent because it never happened to me. But 10% yearly appreciation is the same in big cities here in my country. Just imagine how much money we spend on rent and in the end, we don't own even a part of the property. Whereas even if we loan the property we live in, the loan interest rate is not that high if we are to deduct the usual 10% yearly appreciation value.

Although around 20% to 25% of the property is owned by my brother, I just started living here free from rent nearly 2 years already. There are pros and cons of course. Financially it's better than renting. I love the silence and privacy in a guarded subdivision. But I am now far from the usual downtown city where I used to live. I am forced to cook my own food which is healthy but it costs me time and it is expensive if I order food all the time. I live alone and for someone that loves to travel a lot and at times even spend a year away from home, it might be difficult because you have some plants to take care of.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 16, 2023, 04:39:49 PM
^ Dwight Howard said he would love to come off the bench for the Kings and help them win. I think on a good contract he’s probably a nice addition to the team. The Kings to me seem like they’re being well coached these days but their roster definitely leaves room for improvement. They’re just never able to lure free agents to Sacramento.

Dwight Howard is a good addition to the Kings but he needs to accept a contract where there is no guarantee for his playing time. Dwight can be a mentor and has some tricks to teach the Kings' big men. The Kings also need deep playoff experienced players and Dwight has it.

These days, nearly all of the NBA teams are capable of reaching the playoffs. There are a handful of good players testing the free agency market this season so I expect most NBA teams have their eyes on them. So indeed, the Kings will have a hard time luring stars to their team.
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 16, 2023, 02:30:51 PM
There is still more than a month to go before the fight happens. The odds could still change depending on the money that would come in. But for me, Crawford's odds right now are high enough for somebody who really believes in him and his skills. I could even understand if he's given as low as 1.50.

Yes, the kick off press conference had happened already, so it's the start of full swing of this fight, trainings and other media coverage. And I also doubt that the odds are going to change, Crawford should still be the favorite till fight time. And it's up to us boxing fans as who will go with this very good fight.

I highly doubt the odds will change to as high as 1.50 in favor of Crawford. Those odds are only possible if this fight happened some years ago when Crawford looked invincible. Now, Crawford is already turning 36 in the next few months. Physically he is not in his prime anymore. His speed and reflexes are not the same as before.

Spence will enter the ring as the heavier guy and he will try to make it into a physical fight where he will come out stronger. If Crawford will come out the same during the Avanesyan fight then he is in serious danger. Spence will be stronger and has heavier hands than Avanesyan. Crawford needs to fight smart and be ready to move around the ring for the whole 12 rounds.

I would love to see Crawford knocking out Spence. This event is handled by PBC and Showtime and their fighter Spence might come out the winner during close rounds. So Crawford needs to win rounds clearly and land those power shots with bad intentions.
1247  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 15, 2023, 04:54:52 PM
Anything that you don't have you can be called poor in that category.

In finance, you cannot be called poor even if you don't have money but you have the resources. Everything that has value means money. For instance, many people in rural areas lack money but they have an abundance of food and other resources such as lumber and mineral.

A lot of rich people actually do not have tons of cash. I have a rich client before that is too low on cash because all of his income from his business weekly goes to different types of investments like properties and stocks. He even sometimes borrows money when huge amounts are needed. He's got a lot of assets but low in cash but he is not poor but the opposite.

So in the end, the balance sheet is the only way to call someone poor or rich.
1248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 15, 2023, 03:33:23 PM
The Chicago Bulls are not expecting Lonzo Ball to be back again, third knee surgery, that's something the management doesn't like.

There's no team that likes it when a player can't play for an extended period of time because of injuries. I recently heard the news that Lonzo might miss most of next season because of this surgery, and that's too bad because the Bulls' management will run out of patience sooner or later. Honestly, Lonzo reminds me of guys like Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, who had good potential but were forced to end their NBA careers too early.

I missed Brandon Roy and always wonder if he was able to continue his career. Lonzo hasn't proven anything to carry a team yet just like Oden. Nonetheless, Chicago Bulls might need to change something big. I hope they won't start to zero again because that's a big waste.

LaVine earlier wanted to exit but he is still under contract. If LaVine is happy to stay then the Bulls need to make big trades and build around him. I am not a big fan of LaVine because a part of me believes that the star is unlike the other NBA stars that are capable of uplifting their teams. Still, the Bulls need to let go of Vucevic or Lonzo, or even DeRozan too because the combo failed to work.
1249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 15, 2023, 02:05:08 PM
So it could be a bluff on his end so let's see how it will developed in the future. I also seriously doubt that he will just retire. There is also this element of money in this sports and he is always looking for a bigger pay so most likely he will have to play hard and then declare that he is coming back, win-win for him as there will be hype on his name again.
The element of money. Make a fuss and suddenly people will pump a trend about your fight and the champion. It actually works.
Here is the champs Regis Prograis's take on this retirement of Teofimo Lopez.
Quote
“Nah, I think he’s frustrated,” said Prograis (transcribed by Boxing 247) when asked about whether he believed Lopez was officially done with the sport. “He said he got paid a million dollars to fight [Josh Taylor]. That’s terrible.”

“That is terrible money, so I don’t think he’s going to retire.,” continued Prograis. “If me and him fight, he’ll probably get 10 times what he got. So I don’t think he’s going to retire.
https://bloodyelbow.com/2023/06/14/teofimo-lopez-regis-prograis/

Personal issues, mental issues, divorce, and more. There's a lot going on in Teofimo Lopez's life and I doubt he could easily retire with less money in his hands. You are right @Yaunfitda he may be looking for that one big pay that will get him out of that problem. It may not even matter if it's a win or lose, as long as the money is there to save him from all these issues that he had been carrying. We saw him fight Josh Taylor in a dominating way, and if he is still asking if he still has it, yes he does.
Make that money, and retire in a secure way for a better life, I bet even his cornermen are giving him the same advice to end his career in a better position rather than now. Fighting whoever the champion will be after the Regis Prograis versus Danielito Zorrilla match will be the key to that target. It's just two days away.

I believe Teofimo easily earned a minimum of $2 million in that fight which might reach $3 million if the numbers did well.

Prograis is also bluffing. He said he wanted Ramirez and Taylor rematch yet he signed with Matchroom. He said he was offered bigger money by Top Rank but why did he decide to join Matchroom? Prograis is just talking about fighting the top dogs but in reality, he does not want any of them. Now he is challenging Teofimo as if it is easy to make a deal between DAZN and ESPN. And I highly doubt a Lopez-Prograis unification bout can guarantee Teofimo $20 million. Teofimo can actually earn more by giving Kambosos a rematch or a Devin Haney fight or a Ramirez fight.
1250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 15, 2023, 01:45:04 PM
Anyone saw the Gotti vs Mayweather fight?

It ended in chaos, referee stopping the contest, but Gotti continue to march forward and fight Floyd.

Here is the full fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3yMuwYtLXY. Go past forward to 18:38.

Quote
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. returned to the ring on Sunday for an exhibition fight against John Gotti III, and things ended in a wild brawl at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Mayweather was cruising through five rounds of action, barely looking like he broke a sweat as he trash-talked while peppering Gotti with punches. Things got testy between the two of them, as referee Kenny Bayless had a hard time separating their clinches and getting them to stop their verbal back-and-forth.

Early in the sixth round, Bayless stepped in to stop the fight after they wouldn't stop trash-talking, and Gotti began swinging wild haymakers at Mayweather after the bell. Both entourages entered the ring, and chaos erupted from there.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10078960-floyd-mayweather-jr-vs-john-gotti-iii-exhibition-fight-ends-with-in-ring-brawl

Fun fact: Floyd rocking the 🇵🇭 flag in his trunks. Perhaps to pay respect to the Philippines as we celebrate our Independence day, (Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan (2023)).
I saw this on my notification but I missed watching it. It's not like I really want to watch Floyd Mayweather anymore, but what he did is really nice for Filipino boxing fans and the whole nation. Wearing that short with the Philippine flag is something, it's not like we urged him to do it but that's a good way to be respectful to others. Thanks to that Floyd.

I just finished watching the highlights and damn I was shocked and laughing at the end.
Referee Bayless instead of saying "Watch your head" says "Watch your mouth!"  Cheesy Is it because of the trash-talking? Hilarious. Like a Dad scolding his kids.
It almost looked like it is scripted. I don't know.
But the brawl in the end might not be part of the script. Both corners didn't let go and still arguing at the ring while their boxers are already out. Why do they have too many staffs in each corner? I mean, that's like 20-30 people for each boxer. Ain't that too much? Afterward, I saw some clips on youtube shorts where Gotti and his crew are making bad fingers at some of the Mayweather fans. What are they? 15?

No one watches Floyd exhibition matches specially for boxing fans here. I mean we wanted the real deal, not this kind of fights. And now that he fights John Gotti an then turn it into circus, as in basketball, both benches are empty and went against each other.

Probably yeah, as both continue to talk even even the ring. And I do agree that it's a disgrace to boxing inside, we don't want to see this kind of attack with their supporters or body guards. But then again, this is not a professional fight so what do you expect? As least for the majority of boxers, they trash talk but at the end of the fight they hug and shows respect whoever wins.

Lol! Same here. There are a lot of events every weekend and also some interesting stuff to do that even non-title fights in boxing are not my priority anymore so there's a small chance that I'll be watching fake or scripted or not exhibition games. I remember before the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a stat saying the number of DOTA players is declining and it probably continued in the last few years. Maybe some of us became busy with our careers and are having families now. I myself just like most of my DOTA friends since college aren't that active anymore as well. Although I am still tracking the happenings, especially TI and its majors. And until now it is one of my goals to attend a major or a TI.
That is true, many have become busy with their real-world lives and that's why a lot of people in our friend's lists are no longer active. That's a sad thing about playing Dota 2 but looking at events, they're keep going and tournaments after tournaments again and we're on the last few of it before the grandest Dota 2 event, TI.

Time flies so fast mate. I felt like I just graduated a few years ago. Me and my closest college friends of around 30 have a group chat to connect to each other. We used to play DOTA even until dawn but now there are only 3 that are playing actively. But yeah, we are also excited about every majors and TIs and sometimes plan on watching it live as well.

This ongoing tournament is not a major which is why some are not interested. The prize pool though is twice as big as the majors so this should be an interesting one. And most top teams in the world are also the ones competing.
Also, many teams now have been eliminated from the Dream League Season 20 and most of those are gonna participate in the Bali major. But whoever gets first and second on this will get a direct invite to a bigger cash tournament, Riyadh Masters.
[/quote]

It's unlucky though that some players and a team were not able to compete. Riyadh Masters indeed has a whooping huge prize pool. Not surprising for a country that offered Messi $1.6 billion for a 3-year contract.
1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promising altcoins? on: June 14, 2023, 04:23:26 PM
I expect OP already made thorough research on ETH, BNB, and XRP before coming up with the decision to invest in these 3 altcoins. So why not rank them according to your research? Or if you don't bother then just invest evenly.

But since I cannot imagine investing in crypto without bitcoin then I must include it if I were in OP's shoes. Maybe something like this:

Bitcoin - 40%
Ethereum - 30%
BNB - 15%
Ripple - 15%

Bitcoin is the most reliable and top coin in crypto so without a doubt I will invest more into it. Ethereum comes in as 2nd since it also remained in that rank for many years already. BNB and XRP are coins with potential but they are facing cases with huge risks should they lose their battles although I believe they will stay in the industry, especially BNB.
1253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your honest review of the Demo account? on: June 14, 2023, 02:08:54 PM
I agree that demo trading is only to familiarize the platform. Although it can be of big help for newbies to learn about trading. But once someone is ready to trade, then demo trading is no longer needed. A newbie trader can deposit a small amount in order to start trading. And as most traders understand, trading is also psychological. You will have no emotion or you can slack and get bored using a demo trading whereas a real trading account even with a small amount is more lively, and motivational because it is real trading. It's like playing in an online casino using play money, it's zero to little fan compared to using real money no matter how small the amount is.

Celebrations are still ongoing for Denver Nuggets championship run. But in Miami Heat's quarter, rumors about their eagerness to improve their line-up are already circulating. It's not a secret that the team although consisting of many undrafted players over-achieved knocking out the top-seeded Bucks and the NBA champion favorite Celtics.

Kyrie Irving is one of the names circulating. I am not a fan of Irving. I felt he is more of a liability to his teams since he left Cleveland. But maybe he will change and plays better under Spoelstra and Butler? There's also Damian Lillard's willingness to play in Miami if ever he leaves Portland.
1255  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 14, 2023, 12:49:11 PM

More than likely.
He is too young to retire this early and it's the wrong time to do it now that he finally proved his critics to be wrong about him. He embarrassed Taylor in his own way. It's spectacular. He hasn't got the biggest win, at least take that one more step to fight to the top like Prograis. There's Devin Haneys and Shakur whom he might be able to fight and make money. Never mind those bullies.

If it's all because of family problems like custody of his kid, the more he needs to fight. It's not about records anymore when it comes to family, it's about what you can bring to provide for your family.

It's kinda intriguing do we have a similar story like this winning the undisputed title by total domination and you are at the peak of your career then you announce your retirement, its unthinkable to just leave something that every boxer is coveting, he may have felt that he has a long personal battle ahead of him that he has to pick between his fight in the ring or his fight in the court so he chooses the latter.

But definitely, he can always come back he is talented he could be another Mayweather because they have the same style and speed.

Lol! Of course, Teofimo Lopez is just bluffing. Tell WBO to strip him of his belt and make it vacant and Teofimo will cry out loud not to strip him and he is not really retiring. Cheesy

Now Teofimo Lopez wanted $100 million for him to continue fighting. Of course, this is just another bluff, he is just trying to get the biggest possible money he can get in his next fight or contract.

And btw, Teofimo Lopez has not won the undisputed belt but only the WBO although he is now the lineal champion of the division which matters most. Josh Taylor already vacated the other 3 belts last year since the original plan was to move up in weight after struggling to make 140.

Speaking of DOTA events. Tomorrow is the start of DreamLeague Season 20 in Stockholm, Sweden.

I guess most bitcointalk folks isnt really interested with Dota anymore . Normally we would have plenty of conversations regarding this but it seems abit different as no one really mention about this in this thread
Not really, there are still a lot of interest for Dota 2 and that is because we've got two threads for esports and the other folks have been posting also there so, maybe the other one is more active than this.
Dota 2 is still enjoyed by a lot of users here and many gamblers who are also members of the forum bet on Dota 2 matches.
It is true that there are two threads here but I think this is the only thread that forum users are most interested in and this thread is more active on compare with the other thread.
One of the of the end of the esports thread for Dota 2 discussion is not very active because Dota 2 matches have a few days gap in each match.
I'm sure that soon when the TI Dota 2 tournament starts, the discussion thread will be very active again every day.

I remember before the Covid-19 pandemic, there was a stat saying the number of DOTA players is declining and it probably continued in the last few years. 1257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: June 14, 2023, 12:02:16 PM
The thing with Casimero is not he is not backing down to any challenge. Although right now he seems to be on the way to maybe a crack on a belt in any organization at the super bantamweight, any of those current champions right now. But we love to see him and Inoue getting into the ring, at least for the belt so that we can see how good Inoue is.
He doesn't know how to back down but all he needs is an opportunity to fight for the championship. However, since boxing is a business, it won't be easy for him to achieve that. Inoue is focused on winning the championship in this fight, so it might be tough for Casimero. Inoue may not agree to arrange a fight with him, especially if the rumors are true that he is avoiding Casimero, who has the potential to jeopardize his career.

Of course, Casimero is not backing down to a title fight since it is everybody's dream to become world champions (except maybe for Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia Cheesy). Although I doubt Casimero is not backing down from a challenge that would be too risky, especially from someone below his ranking. I saw a post last week about a contender challenging him and it seems ignored.

Anyways, I would love to see Casimero get his 4th division title. Imagine if Casimero will be the one facing Inoue for the undisputed belts next year? Inoue is favored to win over Fulton and Tapales is in waiting mode after getting the approval to face the winner for the undisputed belts. Inoue's footwork and hand speed will be too quick and fast but maybe a single power shot from Casimero will change the fight.
1258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Opportunity to buy on: June 13, 2023, 02:36:04 PM
At least the market is starting to move upwards again although some selected coins that are hot in the eyes of US authorities are still struggling to build resistance. I still consider this moment as buying opportunity. If the momentum continues then we might go straight to $40k before another bitcoin correction.

But for me, I need to sell around half of my portfolio as I have urgent needs. I am trying as much as possible not to touch my few bitcoin holdings and I might continue my DCA again next month.
1259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: June 13, 2023, 02:14:10 PM
^^ That's true, all the hype is coming from the camp of Casimero that they are the one who is going to beat the champion in Inoue. But it's a foregone conclusion now, it's their own wrongdoings that's why the fight didn't happen. So he needs more hype again, I was just hoping that him and Nery will be a eliminator or someone in the WBO rankings.

Probably Tapales being the first Filipino to fight for a unified belt? not sure about it, but I do agree that it will be a very hard road for Marlon. If he was able to upset Akhmadaliev, the story might be different with Inoue or Fulton by chance.

Inoue will be a heavy favorite if there is a chance that he will face Casimero. Casimero just needs to stay active if he wants to get his title shot ASAP. A Casimero-Nery fight would be good but I also believe that Casimero will be the underdog.

We would love to but in reality, it is hard to imagine Tapales winning against Inoue. Inoue might be too quick, too strong, and too powerful for Tapales. Tapales has a better chance of becoming undisputed against Fulton. Fulton has high boxing skills but there are numerous times when he exchanged punches even if he is not heavy-handed and Tapales might be able to outslug him. Anyways, whoever is Tapales' next opponent, he needs to train hard and stay focused.

Well done OP. The participants of your bitcoin teachings are already lucky to have you and yet you are also giving them monetary prizes. I saw an of forum members here, especially from Nigeria sharing and promoting bitcoin. I salute you guys. That is something I never did in the last few years.

I did share about bitcoin and crypto knowledge during my first year of investing. The market was just too good at that time and I want my family, friends, and relatives to capitalize on it although some of them did not take it seriously and some are even doubtful and who knows they probably thought that I am a scammer. Now I am just silent about bitcoin for privacy purposes.
