1381  Economy / Economics / Re: Success is fundamentally determined by luck, not effort. on: May 14, 2023, 07:09:00 PM
Most of the time when I hear people that depend on luck, they are a little lazy and lack effort in order to have better lives. Probably because whether they work hard or not, fate will determine their success, which is not a good mentality. Your uncles have the same mentality on luck but their stories are different, they work very hard which is commendable and they really deserved to be where they are now, successful businessmen.

For me, luck is like 50/50 so we better not depend on it. Let's say that a hard worker has much bad luck in life, he will continue to live normally or a little below that line compared to a lazy person with strings of bad luck in life.
1382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Vincent Astrolabio WBO 118lbs Title (May 13) on: May 12, 2023, 09:19:59 PM
It's good to see that there is a thread because this is a title fight. On paper, this fight is more appealing than Janibek's title defense, although I can understand that he is the main event because he is hyped as the next star from Kazakhstan since GGG is old already and might even not return to the ring. His opponent is also popular in Canada and is a KO artist, probably the next David Lemieux? Grin

Back to the Astrolabio vs Moloney, I did not really expect this match to happen. Bob Arum perfectly made the right move canceling the previous Donaire fight since the guy is being handled by a promoter with issues from US authorities. We don't even know when old Donaire is fighting. But earlier, Astrolabio was thought to face another PBC fighter, ex-champ Emmanuel Rodriguez for the vacant IBF. It's surprising that he is now facing a Top Rank fighter, it would've been Raymart Gaballo facing Moloney tomorrow.

Anyways, I hope Astrolabio can pull a big win. This is not an easy fight but he needs to win rounds convincingly as he is fighting against the event promoter's fighter. I think it was unnecessary to bring a kangaroo stuff toy and trash-talk Moloney because the Aussie is not intimidated and is unaffected. But it showed Astrolabio's confidence in this fight. But he should stay focused and stay away from unnecessary stunts once inside the ring because Moloney is not old Rigo and he carries a KO punch in both hands.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 12, 2023, 08:37:36 PM
2 very intriguing games today. I would really love to see the Warriors extending their series and then proceeding to the western finals to rematch with Denver. I want to see how it goes when Jokic got help compared to last season. The Lakers however have the homecourt advantage and are so far 5-0 at home in this playoffs. This is the time that the Warriors need their deep experience and put their offense effectively while at the same time maintaining a steady defense. Andrew Wiggins though suffering from a rib injury wants to play but it remains to be seen how effective he will be especially in guarding Lebron James.

I have a -3 bet on Miami. I have more confidence that they will end their series against NYK today and avoids a game 7 on the road. But this may be close as hungry yet inexperienced NYK will try to force a game 7 at home.
1384  Economy / Economics / Re: Concers About Going in Business with a Friend on: May 12, 2023, 07:59:37 PM
Since I graduated college, there were some proposals from my friends to start partnering for a business. Until now nothing turns into reality maybe because some of us are very busy, some are not willing and some of us are affected by the financial crisis.

Starting a business with friends is not really bad since we knew already our friends well, their strengths and weaknesses. But just like the story, not all of your friends are fit for business. Money changes everything friend or not. Even relatives will change because of money. In the past, I also turned down some offers from some of my friends because I know them well.
1385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My friend's investment in Bitcoin on: May 12, 2023, 07:37:16 PM
There is nothing wrong with that, so long as you did not try hard to convince him to invest in bitcoin. There's always the risk when it comes to investing. For newbies, it is easy to say it is extra money but many of them became emotional when the price of bitcoin drops 10% or even more. If I were your friend, I would divide the $500 into 5 and buy bitcoin monthly with just $100. After 5 months and all of the capital is used, he can withdraw it from the exchange and keep his bitcoins thru a non-custodial wallet.

Tell your friend to create an account here at Bitcointalk.org. It will help him a lot.
1386  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Market is seasonal on: May 12, 2023, 07:02:09 PM
Maybe the only traders that have consistent earnings are those that spend time conducting paid seminars, tutorials, and other services they can do to earn money instead of spending time studying, and trading in order to milk the market. Cheesy That is why I quit many times already. But I will be trading again probably next year and the year 2025 because they are possibly bullish years if we are to base it on bitcoin and crypto cycles. But I am far from being called a trading expert.

Trading strategies won't work all the time too mate. Long-time traders always adjust their strategies to what will work for them.
1387  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is Poses a Great Challenge for Delayed Gratification on: May 12, 2023, 05:09:54 PM
I applaud people that know how to save and prefer paying cash rather than thru loans or credit. But a big amount of savings should not be slept at home or stored in a bank with a very low-interest rate because it is a guaranteed loss against inflation. Even before the pandemic and the war that made the world economy suffer and inflation turned worse, inflations are usually still higher than the low-interest rates that banks are offering.

The money should be invested so it will grow against inflation. If your country's economy has recovered or if your local stock market is performing well, then you can put part of your savings there. There are financial institutions that offer better rates than banks too. Of course, we need to DYOR and make sure the company we choose to invest in is credible and has been in the business for many years already.
1388  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Sobrang Taas na Gas Fee today? on: May 11, 2023, 06:06:58 PM

1389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nothing but a mathematical fraud. on: May 11, 2023, 05:55:25 PM
People are looking for the next meme coin this cycle after Shiba Inu made it at the top during the last cycle. I've never been a fan of meme coins but last week I was tempted to bet a little amount. Not for long-term purposes of course but it's more of a gamble with the money I can afford to lose. So I included it in my watchlist. This week I am supposed to DYOR this meme coin but upon knowing that it is already valued at $600 million, it is a "No" for me. I don't care if it was listed on Binance. I also heard that this meme coin is also listed on one of our local exchanges here.

The market is down and there are a lot of potential altcoins that are cheap to buy. I would rather choose from them than a meme coin that is already valued at $600 million.
1390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 11, 2023, 02:31:43 PM
...So now we look for either another Mexican in David Benavidez or a rematch with Dmitri Bivol.

I observed that most people online are demanding a Canelo vs Benavidez fight. This fight would be huge although all fights for Canelo are big even if its opponents are not from the top. As for Canelo's earlier quote about not fighting another Mexican, well I guess Benavidez has no Mexican citizenship and is born in the US so maybe this fight will happen.

I'm in with Canelo vs Benavidez right, Canelo should go with David and proved everything wrong that he is past his prime. Benadivez Sr, says that Canelo looks terrible against John Ryder and people in Mexico expecting him to score a knockout and that Mexicans are disappointed with the Canelo performance. So for sure Canelo and his camp read this comment from Sr., so let's see if they will choose a young fighter or rematch Bivol.

Well, for the record, Canelo wants the more difficult fight which is Bivol rather than Benavidez. I don't know if it is really due to his pride or if he knows that win or lose, there's still Benavidez waiting for him at 168. Unless the WBC will strip Canelo of his belt since Benavidez is mandatory which is actually long overdue. And Canelo's rematch clause with Bivol might be enough reason for the WBC to wait. The WBC will lick Canelo's balls anyways just to get that sanctioning fee percentage from his huge purse.

Personally, I also prefer Canelo vs Benavidez because it is something new. Bivol is just too technical and smart for Canelo and it will be the same outcome, a one-sided victory. At least Benavidez is defensively flawed but he carries a huge KO percentage that can hurt Canelo if he gets hit.

So far, there's nothing that changed about Canelo's response on who's next ever since his loss to Bivol. Bivol has already accepted the challenge of fighting for the undisputed belts at 168 but Canelo is stubborn and wants the rematch at 175 for Bivol's WBA belt. Bivol will put him to school once again but I am hoping for the champion to be more aggressive and try hurting Canelo because these corrupt judges will always try to change the outcome when the superstar is losing.

He will be in a lose-lose situation at a 168 lbs fight with Bivol. He knows his critics will say that he weight drain Bivol and then him fighting at his comfortable weight. Canelo knows this that's why he insists at 175 lbs. So that he can capture that belt again and cemented his greatness.

Fair enough. And losing to Bivol at 168 means he will no longer become a champion. And since all the belts will be held by Bivol, it will be very difficult for Canelo to fight for a belt to hype his PPV fights.
1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: May 11, 2023, 01:47:22 PM
What delays this fight is due to the promotional issues of Donaire. Probellum already ceased to exist due to its involvement with the Kinahans. So Bob Arum is once again correct and some of us thought he was just making excuses to avoid his ward Moloney facing Donaire. Moloney is already fighting next week for the vacant WBO belt while old Donaire's next fight still has no venue and a specific date.

Richard Schaefer should work this out fast because neither Donaire nor Santiago wanted to overtrain. There is no such thing as having a serious training camp that will last for 4 months or more. That is not beneficial and will have bad effects on the fighters. Maybe Schaefer should ask to return the favor of his friend Al Haymon to temporarily handle some of his fighters and stage this fight.

Yes, but Donaire is still with Richard Schaefer, so technically they can still work it out with Santiago's camp. It's not like when Probellum cease to exist, Donaire has not manager or no one stick to him. Richard is still managing him.

We've seen news of Donaire in the Philippines with Casimero, but not sure if he is on series training or just vacationing in the Philippines for that matter. Yeah, possible for Richard to reach to Al Haymon so that this fight can happen this year.

Richard Schaefer is the promoter mate and he doesn't own a manager's license because it is prohibited to have both in the US. Rachel Donaire is Nonito's manager. Schaefer was Probellum just like Eddie Hearn is Matchroom. If Probellum was linked with the Kinahans then so is Schaefer. Maybe Schaefer is still busy clearing his name after already closing Probellum earlier.

I don't know what's the hold with Donaire on Schaefer. His contract was already invalid and he can sign with other promoters for even at least a single fight only if he wants to come back to Schafer once his name is cleared. Ex Probellum world champions Regis Prograis and Sunny Edwards have moved on already and went on to sign with Matchroom and are now scheduled to defend their belts. Maybe Donaire don't want to leave as he felt indebted to Schaefer who picked him up just when everybody thought his career is done.

I believe Donaire is already training in Cebu, Philippines just like Casimero. I assume Al Haymon is ready to help, PBC would not exist anyways if not for Schaefer. But there is also the possibility that the networks, sponsors, commissions, or even US authorities, in general, are not allowing this to happen unless Scahefer's name is cleared.
1392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 11, 2023, 01:03:00 PM

Burns could have won if he was healthy and had a full training camp. I would love to see a rematch. Edwards is expected to defend his title against Colby and I doubt Belal will just sit and wait for the winner, it would cost him a lot of time being inactive. I wonder if the UFC will allow Belal to fight an easy opponent for him to stay active.

A high possibility that he rested this one up but knowing Gilbert Burns he must have thought his 2012 self was the same as his version of Burns now because he has already done this kind of stunt and it seems effective and both his 2012 fights were a win, actually he got 4 fight in that 2012 year see it for yourself in his record, it must have been effective for him back then when he is much younger but for him to do the same now it is not very wise,

And it's normal when prospects fight many times in a year. It's not like they are matched against very dangerous oppositions. These prospects are likely facing journeymen, inactive, and fighters that are not in their own divisions. But there's a big difference in fighting nobodies while Belal is a top-ranked contender.

4 fights a year is still doable, this is the maximum a fighter can do with a complete rest (1+ month) and training camp (2+ months). Another exemption is when someone won a fight very quickly or has a very easy fight that might not need a long period of rest to recuperate their body.
1393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 11, 2023, 12:27:04 PM
I just check my bet today for Warriors -10.5. I’m not expecting much on this bet because I thought they will gonna be finished by Lakers due to the difference on their last time game. I recently watch the replay and I’m glad that I didn't watch the live gme because I might jinx them. Lakers can still recover that points difference if AD didn't get injured. Lakers have a minor run on last quarter but Warriors can answer since there is no threat from AD.

Anyway you will know that Warriors will gonna win the game if you saw Draymond Green knocking down 3 points shot. If you saw an early sign like this, don’t waste time and all in to Warriors ML.  Grin

I was itching to bet on heat yesterday because I thought Knicks already lost their compassion in the game. Luckily, I have a change of heart and stick with my Warriors pick.

Tomorrow’s game. I will choose Boston & Nuggets ML.

It was like Miami and the Lakers were going to finish their own series but I also end up betting on GSW only. I was too confident that the defending champions are not just going to give up this series easily. Although I went with the safer +5. Congrats on your -10.5 on GSW, that was a tough bet. The Lakers will have their chance in game 6 but I want GSW to win this series as I want a rematch between them and Denver, this time with Jokic getting some help.

It's too tempting to bet on Miami as well but my mind is more confident to just bet on them in game 6 at home. I have no bets for tomorrow since my heart wants Philly to win the series and I am hoping for Denver to close its series at their opponent's home.
1394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still hunt for airdrops? on: May 10, 2023, 04:44:08 PM
I have a lot on my list but to be honest, I only did ZkSync because I was hyped after the Arbitrum and Aptos airdrop. I did not even complete all the possible transactions to receive an airdrop. Maybe this is not just my thing. The urge to trade or look for potential play to earn games are more appealing to me. Also, after Sui's announcement that it will not conduct an airdrop, all the remaining determination for me to complete some tasks for coming airdrops was lost as well. Maybe I'll just buy some of these tokens in the future if they drop in price. Arbitrum is on my list of altcoins that I am planning to buy.

Still, airdrop is not that bad for those that have free time to do the tasks. Also, for those that do not want to allocate their money and invest in crypto, airdrops are a good way of acquiring money for free or with minimal amounts used.
1395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Bitcoin will become stable currency? on: May 10, 2023, 04:21:16 PM
It is not that easy to make bitcoin a stable currency. Its decentralized nature will make it very hard especially for powerful nations that wanted their grip not just on their citizens but the whole world if possible.

I mean, bitcoin has a chance to become a stable currency but it will be in the long term. First, bitcoin has to have a stable price in order for it to become usable in daily transactions. Maybe if bitcoin will be valued in trillions of dollars it won't be easy to rise and drop 5% in a day. Network congestion is becoming common too which might hinder its chances to be adopted as a normal day-to-day currency. But maybe we just have to consider bitcoin as a store of value since it is the most reliable of all digital assets (including future CDBCs). So I'll be fine bitcoin not being considered as a legal tender for as long as it is not banned by authorities.

1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 13) on: May 10, 2023, 02:55:59 PM
Depends on the hype because we all know that organizers are much more leaning towards a fight who can give them more profits. Now, if Inoue will be successful enough and became the undisputed in this division, he will likely face Casimero first (given that Casimero have defeated his own opponent in the next few days) because I doubt that he will be given a mandatory title defense fight that early when he just got the belts under his possession.

Well, it is not uncommon in boxing that a new champion will be facing a mandatory right away. Before, the IBF is notorious for strictly imposing its mandatories and doesn't even care if the champion is unified or a superstar.

Inoue's main priority, if he beats Fulton, is to become undisputed so it means Tapales. Tapales also said that if he is going to choose his next opponent, it will be Inoue. Hopefully, none of these sanctioning bodies will issue a mandatory right away so can see another undisputed champion. The IBF final eliminator between Aleem and Goodman happens next month so the mandate will be issued late this year or early next year. But I'm expecting the IBF to postpone the mandate if Tapales is facing Inoue for the undisputed belts.

Besides, if Casimero will be successful on his own path, I'm inclined that he may target the interim holders so that his chances to face the champion(s) will increase more. He surely knows that time is not on his side anymore and so it won't be helpful on his situation if he will just wait for any opportunity rather than working towards it.

The good thing about this division is that there are no current fake and paper champions. The division is free from garbage interims and regular belts. So everything is straightforward here.
1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 10, 2023, 01:51:06 PM
Miami on the other hand might actually close it out at MSG. They are on a roll and the game will be a close one. If Jimmy Buckets has another big game the series might be over after this one.

It's not difficult to predict this game, as Miami has been dominating the series. The Knicks' only win was when Jimmy was unavailable to play.

I really want Miami to close this series early so they can take a little rest. Butler and some of its players are suffering with minor injuries so it will be beneficial if they can end this early. Besides, Miami only has Butler to rely on compared to the other teams where they have 2 minimum superstars plus great role players and bench.

But still, I am not betting on Miami. Some of its players may feel relaxed while New York's young core will keep on attacking just to keep the series alive. My lone bet will be for the Warriors. It would be a shame if the defending champions will easily lose this series at 1-3. So I expect them to make necessary adjustments and guys like Thompson will step up and bounce back from its lackluster showing in the previous game.
1399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 10, 2023, 12:11:50 PM
While Gilbert Burns got an injury and Belal Muhammad capitalized on that I really don't like it when a fighter is injured for sure it is now a handicap match for Belal Muhammad and likely I am a rematch between the two and this time a healthy Gilbert Burns,

Is the next fight Aljamain Sterling vs Sean O'Malley confirmed it will be my favorite fight because I side with Sean O'Malley to take the title from the undefeated fighter, even though it's september but it's not long to wait, other than that we will see another big fight between Charles Oliveira vs Beneil Dariush on 10th june.

It is already in motion and I have seen it on Tapology it will be on August 19, and it will be on UFC 292 but there are only two bouts, for now, I think Dana White and the UFC are still arranging the fights for this event if a certain fight got canceled on another event then they will likely move it here, here is the Link so you could see it https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/101022-ufc-292 the fight for now consist of Aljamain Sterling VS Sean O'Malley for the UFC Bantamweight Championship and Cody Garbrandt VS Mario Bautista,

I really hope this will be finalized in the next few days. There's still plenty of time to fill the cards so it should not be a problem or they can simply move the date within August or even September. I am not yet sold on the Pink Poodle but it's an intriguing match with Sterling. O'Malley made an upset win over Yan although it was only a 3-rounder, that interests me how he looks in a 5-round fight. But maybe Sterling has too many skills, an excellent ground game, and is just too strong that he will rag-doll O'Malley. Cheesy
