Not sure if we have discussed Jerwin Ancajas comeback fight this weekend as he will move up to 118 lbs and will fight a tune up fight against Wilner Soto in his new division.

Ancajas has been a great champion at 115 lbs defending his belt 9 times until he met  Fernando “Pumita” Martinez in which he lost 2x. So it's obvious that his body can't take 115 lbs and so they decided to go up now at bantamweight division.

https://www.ringtv.com/654814-title-shot-awaits-jerwin-ancajas-if-he-gets-past-wilner-soto/

Soto is 13:1 underdog here.

I am more interested in the main event where Fernando Martinez will once again defend his belt against another Ph contender Jade Bornea. The champion though remains the favorite.

Hopefully, Ancajas can show some signs that he is still an elite fighter. The division is starting once again after Inoue's ascension to 122. Ancajas was a long-time champion but I felt like he could've done more by unifying his belt or facing the other top fighters of the division. He was a champion and the division was rich with stars like Roman Gonzales and Juan Estrada.
1222  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Investors Confidence in Bitcoin💪 on: June 22, 2023, 08:59:39 PM
That is right mate, just keep holding because we are still far from reaching the ATH once again. There is a possibility that the previous ATH won't be reached during the halving year but the following year which is 2025.

And since we still have time left before the expected huge bull run next year, a lot is continuing to invest regularly. I also have my own DCA monthly as the current price also means potential for us to grow our assets.

You can also just hold your bitcoins and go for the long term which is beyond the 2024-25 cycle. Some are even predicting the price of bitcoin to reach as high as a million dollars in the future.

Not really surprised that Smart was the first one to be traded since he's the most expendable of the trio but never imagined KP to be there. He'll have less playing time for sure unless he'll be their main center which I doubt. I think Celtics is taking too much risk by changing a lot of the team dynamics.

Of course, KP will be the main center. He is still a big star and a huge problem for its rival teams. Personally, I am liking the big shake-up the Celtics are doing. Over the years they really have the real potential of becoming champions but they only made it into the finals once. KP might change the usual Celtics plays but the center can provide a big boost of offense, especially during the times when Tatum and Brown turn cold. And it is time for a change after its failed 2022-23 season.

The Celtics are still looking very strong provided they can stay healthy next season. Horford is an important piece but he is aging and the team will limit his minutes but he will be utilized during the playoffs.
1224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 22, 2023, 06:43:36 PM
Well, Eddie Hearn is a huge boxing fan himself and is probably the biggest promoter right now and is a master in the business with superstars Canelo, AJ, and fighters from other promoters that fight in DAZN except GBP which has its own exclusive contract with the network. His 500k-600k is a good estimate and is already a big success given these economic hard times.

This fight though has real potential of breaking a million PPV buys. I also believe that tickets will be sold out quickly. So far PBC has named Pitbull Cruz battling against Giovanni Cabrera in the undercards probably to get the huge Latino boxing community.
1225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: June 22, 2023, 06:09:43 PM
My reasoning might be speculative but it might help anyone who is looking to bet on this game. Some of you might question why Naoya Inoue challenged Stephen Fulton. The reason is simple, he is exceptionally talented, and with his accuracy to punch hard, he is worthy to challenge Stephen Fulton. Stephen Fulton has an impressive boxing record, he has shown the world his impressive defensive skills, and impressive footwork but lacks attacking abilities as per my understanding. Overall this would be an interesting match to watch and my research says that Naoya Inoue is a little better than Stephen Fulton. If betting is my primary objective, then I would bet on Naoya Inoue.

Both fighters wanted legacy fights hence they want to face each other. Fulton has the chance to become a 2 division champion by rematching Figueroa at 126 but he opted to face Inoue the current pound-for-pound # 1 or #2. This fight is also more beneficial financially for Fulton and instead of moving up, there is a chance for him to become undisputed.

Inoue on the other hand is not just chasing for legacy but historic records as well. Inoue used to be the quickest Japanese to become a world champion only in his 6th pro fight. He became a 2 division champion in his 8th professional fight and I believe this is a world record. If Crawford cannot win against Spence next month then Inoue will also have the chance to become the first 2-division undisputed champion in the 4 belt era.

It is unbelievable how BetBoom from being just a substitute team turned very dominant in this tournament. Now it is playing its last map against 9Pandas in the second group stage. We'll see if Betboom gets a win here to avoid a possible tie with GG for the upper bracket slot. I was surprised they lose to Talon yesterday which made me think that maybe they are starting to lose their magic touch and their luck is ending. Still, I'm hoping with a bet that they will win and gets the upper bracket.

Lots of very interesting matches today. Actually, all matches are great because it has effects on the finals stage of this tournament.

1227  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong to allow banks to accept crypto firms as client on: June 22, 2023, 11:09:24 AM
The Hongkong government is most likely getting the blessing from China or who knows it is a move by the Chinese government while the US SEC is persecuting crypto companies and groups. China though needs HK to put some pressure or let's say encourage its big banks to accept crypto firms since the US elections are already happening next year. These crypto firms need to acclimatize if they are to relocate to Hongkong and if successful then they might no longer need to transfer again to the US if the Biden administration loses next year.

It would be a little strange if indeed Mainland China is behind this sudden acceptance on providing liquidity to centralized exchanges through banks. Because, it would be more convenient for them if their CBDC, the digital Yuan expanded as much as possible without the competition Bitcoin and alternative coins could offer against the Yuan.

One of the only reasonable explanations in the case China is indeed behind this move is for them not to completely be left behind as the crypto ecosystem and adoption continues to grow around the world, it would be a mistake for a superpower like China not to have a plan B in case Bitcoin becomes an international asset/commodity which governments started to accept for their own businesses and foreign commerce.

Although it did try as much as possible to stop the growth of bitcoin and crypto by banning them and imposing strict rules to close and issue penalties on miners and investors. China which used to be top or 2nd when it comes to crypto trading volume made it hard for its citizens and investors. Yet bitcoin and crypto as always bounced back and its growth continued as it recorded ATHs every halving cycle. Even some Chinese continued to invest and trade in crypto and its firms relocated outside of China just like Binance the biggest crypto exchange in the world. So Chinese government acknowledges how useful and essential it is by creating its own CBDC. And now letting Hongkong do its crypto adoption trying to lure centralized exchanges.

China indeed does not want to be left behind and I won't be surprised if it lifts its ban on bitcoin and decentralized crypto once the Hongkong experiment is beneficial to them.

Everyone, aren't you hype with this news or did you already see the good news about having an Esports City in Saudi Arabia?

It's gonna be a worth $500M city for building this place. That's a lot of money for the Saudi Arabia to build this but I think that the crowned prince has got the influence on why this has made. If anyone still haven't seen it yet, the prince has always been trending when there's the battle pass for Dota 2.

This is great news for people who can go there without much problem. But I assume so many people wouldn't be very happy this news as the place is too far to themselves. But this kind of huge investments would be expected from especially Saudi Arabia on one hand. In the end they have oil money and they can use it for whatever they want really.

It is at least good that they have decided to spend this amount on a field that has been on the rise for years. Saudi Arabia has a population of 36 million so I wonder how many people are interested in e-sports. In-country participation rate would also be very important for them I guess.

These super-rich Middle-Eastern countries are continuously making big moves in order to diversify their investments and as much as possible will become independent from oil in the next years to come.

As rich as Saudi, it is making sure that it has access to nearly all the countries around the globe. Football superstars Ronaldo and Benzema are already playing in Saudi and more are expected to join them. What most people do not like however is the climate and the many restrictions on its laws.

E-sport is a growing sport and Saudi is right on its track. Although it only has a 36 million population, it is expected that it can get television deals from many countries since the top teams and players are there because of the huge prize pool just like the Riyadh Masters.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 20, 2023, 12:53:18 PM
[....]
Last season before it started, it was the Boston Celtics deemed as the favorite to crown as champions and it stayed that way until the end of the regular season. I wonder which team would be favored in the next season. At the current rosters, my bet is on Denver Nuggets the defending champions, or the Phoenix Suns. With Beal, the Suns once again have 4 All-Star starters and looked stronger than the previous season.

I am pretty sure that there are many teams that are interested in Chris Paul. A buyout is very possible knowing that the current Wizards team is not at the same level as the other top teams. And if I were Christ Paul, I will spend my last years in the NBA on a serious team as much as possible.
Celtics will still be up there as one of the favorites. How about taking CP3 in exchange of Smart? I think that will be a good deal for both teams since Wizards will likely let go of him anyway. Celtics will get a real point guard and a veteran at that to finally push this team. Chris Paul should have no problem in this since he'll be in a good team while Tatum and Brown will benefit from his mentorship.

That should be good if the Wizards will just accept a 1:1 trade for Marcus Smart in exchange for Chris Paul towards the Boston Celtics, but I really doubt that though because even if the latter is not the player he used to be, he still have a good figure in his head and that could really cost the Celtics some few picks or at least players just to get Chris Paul on their line up. Overall, it will be big help for the team if they are able to get CP3.

For me is a good trade if Wizard will allow that, CP3 with the duo who needs someone who can mentor them,

I mean the knowledge CP3 has can bring something that will add up with the skills of these two stars,
though just like what you mentioned, it will be depends on Wizard if they will let a 1:1 trade.

Smart is a good 2-way player who can develop good chemistry with Kuzma and Porzingis if both still have
the competitiveness inside them, I mean both Kuz and KP are great individual players,  but I don't see
any eagerness to push the team into competition.

Maybe Boston Celtics can send some more in order to acquire CP3. Maybe 1 or even 2 future 2nd round draft picks are enough? Or mix it up for some players that are unutilized. What is certain though is that Boston needs a change after its disappointing season. Nobody expected them to lose to the Miami Heat. They need an experienced proven leader like Chris Paul.

The Wizards will also benefit Smart since he is still young and it might work together with Porzingis and Kuzma. At least Smart is still tradeable in the following season the experiment fails.

It seems that GBP and Ryan is going to be a disputed legal battle, Golden Boy Promotions Files Lawsuit Against Ryan Garcia, Lupe Valencia To Enforce Contract.

We know that this could be brewing for years now, but after Ryan lost to Tank Davis, it seems that his camp is putting the blame to everyone, even firing his training and now are looking to severe his ties with GBP and get out of his contract with Oscar.

Not siding on this one, I will just wait and wait will be the judges decision on this one. But for sure, if there are still fights in Ryan contract, he will have to finished it and then get out os GBP for sure.

Yeah, GBP submitted a lawsuit last week against Ryan Garcia. I believe the contract remains valid although the usual way to end it is by just staying inactive unless there are still many years left in the contract which might not be the case here.

Ryan Garcia is over his head, his huge social media following made him believe that his brain and skills are at the top level of boxing which is actually far from the truth. He must've been hurting after Oscar and BHop ignored his post-fight press conference after losing to Tank. I honestly don't believe the excuses of Oscar and BHop not attending the press conference but I absolutely understand it since they do not want to be seen in public as losers to their rival PBC who dictated all the terms of the fight against their wills but dumb Ryan accepted it in exchange for the huge earning potential.
1231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: June 20, 2023, 11:00:10 AM

I actually think it is enough that this fight is between Crawford and Spence. That banner itself must be more than enough for the boxing fans to watch it live. You can't miss this. We have all been waiting and demanding for this for a long time.

They still need to market the fight if they wanted to get more audience.  For this boxers and promoters, fame is not enough, they still need to sell lots of ticket and PPVs in order to consider the fight as a success.  So they need more pre-fight actions to make more noise.

Although those kinds of gimmicks like the heightened intensity and the controversial speeches that you mentioned, all those pushes and personal attacks, they're a cheap way to sell a fight, but they may be effective to a certain extent. But the ultimate reason for any boxing fan to watch live is the fighter and his skills. Both Crawford and Spence have it.

Indeed the yare cheap way to sell the fight but for most boxer, they are very effective in attracting non-fans attention.  Remember each fans have their own favorite boxer so even if the boxer is so skilled, he will not get all the attention of boxing fans.  So to market the fight, they need to do extra effort in order for those non-fans to be curious.

I have a feeling that this supposed mega fight will only sell around 500k PPV buys. The date might be too early as even both fighters are cutting their camps in order to travel for the promotional tour.

I think Crawford is controlling himself not to trash-talk too much on Spence because he might scare the Texan into making another bunch of excuses to cancel the fight. Spence is a silent guy although he has the backing of the huge Texas population. Crawford however came from an average state with lesser cities.

I even saw someone saying the Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz event might garner more PPV buys than this one. Cheesy It's funny how these ultra casuals are purchasing joke fights rather than watching the real fights.
1232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 19, 2023, 04:14:52 PM
Bradley Beal went to the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards traded.
Phoenix Suns: Bradley Beal
Washington Wizards: Chris Paul, Landry Shamet and multiple second round picks.

I think it's good for the Phoenix Suns.
Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal these three will be fun to watch.

They are stacking up offensive players. Phoenix Suns seems to be putting all their money in this season and it's a scary roster now. 3 top offensive players with speed. Expect high-scoring games from the Suns when you place your bets.  Grin
This might also push Chris Paul to be better again, he will prove something to them, just like how he did during his period with the OKC Thunder. He put them back on the map when WB and KD went out. Now, he has the Unicorn and Kuzma on his side, I bet they can create chemistry with a new leader on the floor. Oh, and they have a big man Gafford is CP3 wants an alley-oop play.

1233  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Gambling is different from trading on: June 18, 2023, 09:36:02 PM
To be honest, such a comparison looks rather strange at all. I could compare cryptocurrency and forex, but gambling and trading... are completely different concepts.

Yeah, for me it is not even really that comparing knowing the other one is for entertainment purposes only and not something we look forward to earning money. Although we can also earn money in gambling when luck is on our side that is something we can never rely on. That is why every gambling site has a page concerning irresponsible gambling.

Whereas trading is done in order to earn money. Trading is business. You don't just trade for fun. They don't even fall into the same category. When you take up any kind of financial courses like accounting, management, etc. you won't be taught about gambling. Actually, gambling is not even discussed in any financial subjects. And trading is not about luck but knowledge, psychology, and skills.
1234  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria SEC tag binance operations illegal on: June 18, 2023, 09:12:54 PM
This is no different in my country. Our leaders know and understand how powerful crypto, blockchains, and their platforms can offer especially in the future. Binance is a company that is very tolerant and actually wants to work with governments in order to obtain proper documents and get regulated according to each nation's laws. Yet in my very corrupt country, licenses are only limited and were only given to a few companies that are far from the good services and qualities Binance can offer. Maybe our corrupt leaders are not given the bribe they wanted in order for Binance to get a license. There are even movements in my country to totally ban and impose a penalty on Binance.

Hopefully, Nigeria changes its tone and does better because Binance's services help a lot, especially on money transfer with zero to very low fees compared to the traditional financial companies.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: June 18, 2023, 09:02:49 PM
But I think and maybe majority here will agree, than Nonito can still fight anyone at bantamweight not name Inoue and he has a likely chance to beat everyone of them and become a bantamweight champion again.

Agree and I mentioned it too before.

Likely, this fight will be Donaire's turning point in his decision if he will still continue to fight or not. However, it's good if Donaire will be matched against the top contenders in the 118 instead of Santiago although just to be clear, I'm not degrading the latter here.

Moving forward, if Donaire can't even stop Santiago, who is just currently unranked by the WBC, then time to hang his gloves now. But if successful to win, he will join Takuma Inoue (WBA) and Jason Moloney (WBC) as his co-title holders in the 118 and hoping for a unification match as his next fight.

It just happens that Donaire is gifted with vicious power and that will stay for a lifetime. Although he still needs good reflexes, speed, and timing in order to hit his target. So as long as Donaire can land his bombs inside 12 rounds then his chances of winning remain alive in every fight. Even the great Inoue was badly hurt and shaken. And it leads to the conclusion that if that was a prime Donaire it would've ended Inoue because the speed and stamina are still there to follow up and the Japanese will never recover.

I cannot remember the exact WBC rankings but I believe Santiago is ranked high since he got the chance to fight for the vacant belt? As far as I remember, #1 Moloney went the WBO route, #2 is Donaire, and #3 had a fight schedule last February which made him not available since the mandatory was issued that same month. I think it was Gaballo at #4 or #5. Santiago should be right there.

OP you should learn from history itself. Using many sources to avoid bias, your check what happened to those communist governments. Look at North Korea. Check what communist China has been doing in recent years, especially in their economy, and understand if they are still following the doctrine of Marx. Learn what happened to the previous communist governments in Russia and Yugoslavia.

Humans are far from perfect. Perfect will remain an ambition as always. Any kind of government works well if we are perfect.

1238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dad's retirement money is invested in Bitcoin! on: June 18, 2023, 08:01:13 PM
OP if you feel that you are only a boy then you should refrain from deciding on how to use at least the majority of the retirement fund of your dad whom he worked hard to earn for many years. Imagine putting half of his retirement fund and all of a sudden bitcoin drops to $20k? I mean, I am confident that bitcoin will return to its previous ATH next year or 2025 but prior to that there will be a lot of up and down movements and some of them are huge swings that would trigger your emotions and including your old dad if in case he knows that his hard-earned money just lost nearly half of its value in just a span of few months.

I do admire that OP has an open mind and wide mindset but at least you do not decide the majority of the funds. In your post, I thought you worried more about inflation but you weighed more on the banks going bankrupt. You're still a boy indeed although you might learn very quickly and I am hoping you are. Bank accounts are insured OP and you should research the maximum or the standard insurance per account in your country because it means your dad can open accounts from different banks below the maximum insured amount to protect from bank bankruptcies.

I believe you are from Bangladesh. The population is too high which means a piece of land in your country is too expensive just like my country. Try to present ideas to your dad in order to open his mind knowing he is more experienced than you. Maybe you can start a little farm.

In the end, just don't forget to tell your dad to diversify his funds. Maybe scatter some to different banks thru time deposits, a piece of land, or even more, and depending on you and your family's tolerance put some into bitcoin or you can also start a business to make your dad busy.
1239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Improve Your Sports Betting Skills and Win More Bets? on: June 18, 2023, 07:02:19 PM
A nice guide on betting properly. Well, they are very basic but many times we bettors tend to slack or we do not want to go the extra mile, especially on research. There are too many factors that can help in choosing out bets depending on our efforts. I only bet small amounts now which is probably the reason why I do not want to do heavy research anymore.

I used to have a lot of betting sites at the same time for me to choose which one provides the better odds. Now I am only using a few settings sites. I am more into reputable, quick support, and easy deposits and withdrawals.
1240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 17, 2023, 09:25:24 PM
...
From what I understand from Regis, he said that maybe Teo Lopez might get just finished his contract with Top Rank and same with Josh Taylor. And later on we find out that Kambosos did renew his contract with Top Rank.

So in any case, he thinks that TR can't offer him fights that he wanted at 140 lbs so he jump on the bandwagon with Eddie Hearn at Match Room.

And who is he fighting for his debut with his new promotional company? Zorilla, Lol, Zorilla is a 8:1 underdog against Prograis. Probably just a get busy or tune up fight for Regis here.

https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/regis-prograis-faces-danielito-zorrilla-on-saturday-wants-subriel-matias-next/264615

So he is defending his WBC belt for the first time against a low rank 140 lbs. So that is the best Match Room can offer for him.  Grin

So Regis Prograis himself admitted that he had a hard time deciding between Top Rank and Matchroom. Accordingly, his final decision was more on his plan of becoming a promoter. Personally, I don't think he will become successful as a promoter or he is just making this as an alibi. This decision costs him his so-called prime targets and the bigger money offered by Top Rank. He actually signed into a promoter with less money and with zero of his targeted names.

Regis Prograis' main targets are Ramirez, Taylor,  Lopez, and Matias. All of these big names are under Top Rank except for Matias the least popular of that list. Even if Ramirez and Lopez leave Top Rank; Taylor moves up in weight and Matias leaves PBC, still it is a fact that there are no guarantees that they will sign with Matchroom. Actually, there is a higher chance that most of these fighters will just renew their contracts. In the end, Matias never went to Matchroom and stayed with PBC. We'll see if Ramirez and Lopez stay with Top Rank too but I expected them to renew as well.

So Prograis is now fighting Zorilla compared to Top Rank's first fight offer against Barboza. Barboza alone is many times more popular and bigger money and already beat Zorilla by an easy decision. So I cannot stop myself from thinking that either Prograis made a stupid decision with lesser money which is probably the result of his boastful claim that he can manage himself rather than hire a professional and influential boxing manager. Or he is actually just scared of fighting all the big names in the division where most of them are still legally under Top Rank. So it's like Prograis is secretly happy fighting nobodies with lesser money for as long as he can milk his belt for a long period of time.
