1261  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Gambling is different from trading on: June 11, 2023, 08:17:46 PM
Gambling and trading have their own similarities and differences. Both have their own levels of risk. I think you're trying too hard to differentiate them OP while you don't have the experience to trade and gamble. I can feel it based on your post. In gambling, you can play in the casino or sports betting, or card games like poker wherein you will be matched against other players.

I assume that there are more gamblers than traders. Trading is not that quite easy. Trading needs very good technical skills whereas in gambling you just have to research and be familiar with the sport. In sports betting, you can easily choose any of the odds from easy to the most difficult ones which is not available in trading. The higher the difficulty of the odds, the higher the rewards
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith AUG 19 2023 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: June 11, 2023, 03:19:46 PM
Interesting that Top Rank/ESPN once again beat Matchroom/DAZN in the purse bid. I'm just glad this fight is not happening in Smith's backyard otherwise the judges will once again favor the Briton just like during the Yarde fight.

I believe Mundo's chin is tough as hell but we'll see how tough is it when he is facing a champion with a 100% KO rate. I am seeing Beterbiev scoring another stoppage in the middle or late in the fight. But considering Beterbiev's age of 38, I won't be surprised that one of his opponents these days will end his undefeated streak. Callum is a good fighter so there's also the chance that he is the one to exploit Beterbiev's age.

The fans are craving a Beterbiev-Bivol unification fight and we might not really see it. Maybe this is still doable if DAZN allows Bivol to fight at ESPN. But I also wonder if Top Rank and ESPN would risk it knowing Beterbiev's end will come to an end sooner or later if he won't retire.

Not going to argue that one but as of now, in this upcoming fight, I don't see that Beterbiev's KO streak will be ended by Smith and it is a great news as well that it will not happen in Smith's backyard. I know he's quite durable but I would like to see Beterbiev testing his chin so that we can see if it's made of glass or not as I don't think that someone could survive and just shake it off after receiving a clean blow from the 3-belt champion. Maybe someone in the future when Beterbiev will be much older but in this case, I don't think so.

Beterbiev at 38 can still dominate a fight, that age is still young even though many considered the age as past prime.  With his 100% KO ratio, we all know how devastating his punches are.  So more likely Smith will end up kissing the canvas if he became careless. But at the same time, we can't underestimate Smith's sharp left hook which often renders his opponent unable to continue the fight.  So this fight is a matter of who will connect a devastating punch first making us to say that the fight can go either way.

Beterbiev's chin is no longer the same as before as evidenced during the Yarde fight although it is still tough so we will see if Mundo can land his bombs on that chin. If this fight happened some years ago, Beterbiev will definitely shrug the power punches off. Beterbiev had been hit a lot by stronger opponents in the past, especially by the best opponent in his career so far, the batchmate and friend of Usyk and Loma, the former lineal champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Beterbiev would've lost that fight if not for iron chin.

All if not most are expecting another KO win by Beterbiev so maybe he should be given a shot at Bivol for a chance to become undisputed. Bivol's team is reluctant to give in to Canelo's demands for a rematch so hopefully, a deal with Beterbiev happens. It will be a very interesting and exciting fight. Bivol is not Gvozdyk but with Beterbiev's current reflexes, he should be able to outpoint him. But as always, a single well-timed clean power punch from Beterbiev will change the outcome of the fight.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 11, 2023, 02:39:12 PM
Good fight for Lopez and he surely did what he is supposed to do. And it just shows that style makes fight. Kambosos beat him soundly, even have him in the canvass, but Kambosos lost to Haney twice. Josh Taylor used to dominate this weight class with his counter but he is not effective against Lopez as he is beat to the punch. And even majority of us wrote-off Lopez, but he just shows tonight that he still has it.
I was kind of disappointed when the referee did not allow Josh to fight in clinches where he is superior. When the referee as early as round 1 warned Josh I already thought that he is in for a very difficult and uncomfortable night and that my bet will be lost too. Cheesy So I am not that sold out on Teofimo's win. The ref should've let Josh do his thing and if Teofimo hates the pace of the fight then he can clinch hard until Josh can't throw a punch and that is the time the ref will break them. The ref was there to protect Teofimo and it also saved the American a lot of his energy because he no longer spend it outmuscling and clinching in order to neutralize Josh's inside fighting.

Now Lopez is a 2 division champ, and it open a lot of opportunity for him. Let's see if Haney is going to move up in 140 lbs soonest and go and fight Lopez. Again, it's a clash of style and with that, it's going to be another great fight. Let Lopez though enjoy his win and the start of his reign as WBO champion.
Officially, Lopez is not only a 2 division champion but a 2-division lineal champion and that says a lot to his credit. Haney is most likely to move up. Haney was mad at Bob Arum and mentioned a match with WBC champion Regis Prograis of Matchroom. But after Lopez's victory, there are talks already about Haney being interested again to re-sign with Top Rank.

I think Top Rank just has a lot to offer when it comes to 135 and 140. Haney should he choose to defend his undisputed belts has the Loma rematch, Shakur, and even Navarette if the Mexican beats Valdez this August. At 140, there's Lopez, Ramirez, Barboza, or even Taylor should he opts to remain in the division. Haney though seems like a kid full of pride so he might decide to return to DAZN where can take on Prograis and maybe Kingry.

The only thing that Denver lacks is deep playoff experience which would've made it interesting if they faced Boston or Milwaukee in this finals. And with a championship ring, this team might be even more dangerous in the following years should they remain healthy.

Of they basically remain in tact this team will compete for the chip for the next 5 years.  They have a winning formula that can be repeated over and over.  Having jokic on the floor eliminates of a lot of the possibility of long stretches of losses.  Next years topics will be 3 things: can wemby play in the NBA to the same level, can anyone beat the Nuggets, and who and it can be anyone, will come out of the east.

I'm glad that Denver finally completed its championship team. And in a season where the league's superstars are healthy like Bron and KD and a healthy GSW. A ring will definitely boost their gaming experience and morale so there is a high possibility that this team is capable of building a dynasty if they stick together and remain healthy.

Wemby will be drafted by the Spurs which has a historic record of even developing players that were drafted late. The Spurs turned big men Robinson and Duncan into superstars too. Coach Pop albeit old might be called to return next season. I am curious about what will happen to Boston but if Tatum and Brown stick together, they will remain strong and they're still young. Giannis physically is still in his prime so the Bucks will remain a threat as well.

Well in some news Miami Heat Mascot Burnie in some skit during the halftime of the NBA when McGregor is promoting his cooling pain relief spray Bernie a glove started to approach McGregor but the Irish MMA fighter suddenly punches up Burnie and then drops him on the ground to follow up another punch when I have witnessed it, looks like it is not just a controlled punch and maybe Conor McGregor is thinking that the Mascot will protect the person inside which is very difficult to tell, but that punch has power into it, the Man behind the Mascot has reportedly taken to the emergency room and was hospitalized, and have given a pain reliever and now are doing great at home, here is the link on Twitter of the assault on the Mascot https://twitter.com/ComplexSports/status/1667358119561756673?s=20

And Connor McGregor is finally back in the winning column at last. I just did not expect it to happen during the NBA Finals. But that was crazy, any trained professional fighter can of course put the man inside in danger. It would've been nice if Connor McGregor wore a mascot of himself to lessen the punch impact although his pride won't allow him to do that. This reminds me of Deontay Wilder punching a mascot when he was invited to be a guest at a show. Poor man's jaw was broken.

You gotta gamble moderately mate. Gambling might give you the chance to earn but you should never consider it as your way of achieving financial freedom. We are supposed to consider gambling as a form of entertainment. This way, we do not have high expectations on our bets. And the most important is to bet only amounts that we can afford to lose which means any amount that we don't regret if we end up losing.

And about your goal of achieving $1 million. Why not start a business of your own? Or invest in cryptocurrencies with long-term goals?

Nuggets is the team that have the best offense and best defense in the league. They don't only rely on Jokić, that's the best part. When Heat defend Murray and Jokić with 3 players, the others punish the defensive mistake. Aaron Gordon played his career game, Bruce Brown scored when all eyes on Murray and Jokić, KCP made two critical defense back to back and these all made the difference. Nuggets will finish this series at home, that's clear. And it's not Heat's fault, they faced against the best team in the NBA.

I’m not sure I’d give the Nuggets the title of the best defensive team, but they’re top 10 for sure. I think it’s their unorthodox offensive thanks to Jokic and unusually large athletic wings that set them apart. Having Jamal Murray as a scorer isn’t bad either. I think they’ll be the NBA champions this year and it’s highly likely that will happen on Monday.

Denver might not be the top defensive team according to the stats but they are in the top 10. The offense of Denver is just too much to handle. The presence of Jokic is always a problem for the opposing teams. The Joker can dribble, pass, shoot three-pointers, and set plays. And with Denver having a healthy Jamal Murray and with some reinforcements like Gordon and KCP. Every action an opposing team does on Jokic has an opportunity cost.

The only thing that Denver lacks is deep playoff experience which would've made it interesting if they faced Boston or Milwaukee in this finals. And with a championship ring, this team might be even more dangerous in the following years should they remain healthy.

And I wonder if any of us here will be watching live irl. Maybe in the next bull run in 2025 I will try if a major is happening near in my country.
I would love to but I can't, hoping someday that it gets close and I want to watch live too.

One of these days some of us here will be watching DOTA's big events live.

Speaking of DOTA events. Tomorrow is the start of DreamLeague Season 20 in Stockholm, Sweden. Bad news for SEA representative Execration, its players' visas were not able to catch up with the schedule and they are now replaced by BetBoom from CIS.

And also regarding the last major this year in Bali, Indonesia. It's unfortunate that there are no teams with Indonesian players who are able to qualify. I already read some online comments about Indonesians not interested in going to the venue apart from the tickets being expensive and that they are expecting more foreign tourists, especially from nearby countries to cheer the games.
1270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 10, 2023, 11:27:19 AM
Official weigh-in for both fighters,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnB69bb8BV0

Taylor - 139.8 lbs
Lopez - 140 lbs

And now here's where the trash talking ends, they have time to rehydrate and be ready for the big fight in 24 hours. Josh Taylor is still the favorite so I'm not surprised if he actually win this fight. It might be close if a different version of Lopez shows in this fight. But if he got the wrong strategy and just want to counter then Josh might take it early and then dominate the fight in full 12 rounds.

There's also a good undercard in Xander Zayas vs Ronald Cruz. And Robson Conceicao vs Nicolas Polanco.

I'm glad that both have met the weight requirement, so there's no hindrance to this fight not pushing through. I'm excited for the fight tomorrow, not only because I'm excited to win, but also to see how Josh Taylor will punish Teo Lopez in the ring. This trash talker's mouth will be shut down by the real champion.

Yeah, they are both locked and loaded and ready to rumble tomorrow. But I am somehow disappointed as to why Top Rank or was it New York's boxing commission that did not allow both of them to have a press conference face-off and weigh-in face-off. I felt like Josh Taylor benefits from the face-offs. People are more accustomed to Teofimo Lopez's trash talks but Josh is actually not a humble dude. It's probably the reason why Teofimo was only good at talking but when the time they are near each other Teofimo is silent and it is Josh that is talking, finger-pointing, and wanted to get near to Lopez. It just so happens that Lopez is facing another bully like him but this Scottish bully is more proven and is the former undisputed champion. Lopez was fucking behaved like a good boy in the weigh-in. His useless dad was the one acting tough but he is not the one fighting though. It would've been a hell of a promotion if both Taylor and Lopez made some face-offs before fight night.

By the way, boxing fans from the Philippines and Germany are lucky to have free access to this big fight thru Youtube and Facebook. People from other countries need to pay or at least have subscriptions to ESPN (USA), Sky Sports (UK), and other networks.

And because Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez were not allowed to do a close face-to-face, DAZN's weigh-in was probably more exciting. Cheesy
1271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: June 10, 2023, 10:56:30 AM

And it now happened, WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Marlon Tapales might now be the PH boxer who has the chance to face Naoya Inoue first, instead of the expectation of the majority, that it's Casimero who is currently still climbing the 122 division rankings. Of course, Tapales meeting Inoue soon will just happen if the latter will win against Fulton.

If Stephen Fulton wins against Naoya Inoue, Marlon Tapales instead will unify his belt against him. If Fulton still wins, Tapales might meet Inoue as both will be a contender but the status of Casimero when that time comes might still be hanging because he can't even secure a big fight "for now" to somehow give him a chance to climb at a much higher rank.

There's also a possibility that later in the 122 division, a PH vs PH might face each other.

Well then, too early for these speculations mine Smiley. What matter here is, Tapales is now almost secured to have the next big fight on his timeline.
Nice speculation. That paints a clear picture of what could possibly happen, and we'll have to wait for the outcome of this fight. I know everyone is hoping for Inoue to win, but in case he fails, at least we can still witness a big fight as Fulton will most likely be up for a challenge before moving up to a higher weight class. Casimero's past mistakes continue to haunt him, as he still struggles to secure a significant fight. It's truly a wasted opportunity for him.

It's the fans of Casimero and himself that are hyping that Inoue is scared of him. But the fact is Inoue is busy collecting belt after belt for his legacy while Casimero is having problems with his weight and then facing opponents that are not marketable in the US. Nonetheless, if Casimero continues to win even with not popular opponents he will still get his title shot next year. His reputation as a 3-division world champion is too much to be ignored by these sanctioning bodies. I won't even be surprised if he will fight for an eliminator later this year.

I am glad that Tapales will have his chance to become the first ever undisputed from Ph. Although he will remain an underdog and the task is very difficult. He needs to train very hard and focus on himself.

Mandatories are coming up in this division next year. The WBA wanted former unified champion Akhmadaliev to fight for an eliminator while the IBF already set its own eliminator. The WBC already has Nery but he might be given a final eliminator. Casimero might be given by the WBO the chance for an eliminator.

Richard Schaefer is of course not directly involved in the Irish syndicate of the Kinahans. But when his promotional company Probellum is getting investments from the Kinahans then that is still in violation of the Anti-Money Laundering. Obviously, dirty money needs to become clean so these syndicates will invest the money thru their dummies. Daniel Kinahan loves boxing a lot and it's not a secret in Ireland and in the UK that he is deeply involved in it for many years.

Anyways, at least Donaire is finally getting a July date. Still unofficial but I am confident in some of the sources I am seeing. Besides, I am also seeing Donaire sparring again. Prior to the rumors, Donaire was mostly teaching the young guns of Omega gym in Cebu, Philippines. And it's good that WBO champion Jason Moloney is keen on unifying the belts. Hopefully, Naoya's younger brother the WBA champion is also willing to mix it up.

1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you guilty of promising not to gamble for specific days but back next day on: June 09, 2023, 06:22:00 PM
So far I cannot remember myself feeling guilty since I also cannot remember promising myself to stop gambling. Even before becoming a regular online gambler I already gambled a lot most of the time thru peer to peer betting. And despite my regular betting, I am also very aware of my financial situation. It enables me to always limit my bets to amounts I can only afford to lose.

There were times when I stopped gambling but mostly because I became too busy at work or other interesting stuff occupied my free time.
1276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is There A Time That You Calculated All Your loses In One Year on: June 09, 2023, 05:53:30 PM
There were times when I tried accounting for all my gambling winnings and losses. I made it per casino which makes it easier to assess my performance. Most of the time I am just a little winning and losing so it's like a break-even. Luckily, I never tried accounting for my gambling expenses when I increased my daily betting budget which ended up losing most of the time.

Nowadays I am only betting in small amounts for the sake of betting, which still makes the games exciting to watch. The most important thing in gambling is for us to be responsible enough. This way we are entertained rather than stressed.
1277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 09, 2023, 05:33:55 PM
Everybody knows this is the last chance for Heat. If they lose this one I believe the series will be over in Game 5.
When Jokić and Murray play this good Heat need to do something extraordinary both on defense and offense. Hopefully we'll watch a good game tonight.

I agree, the Nuggets will not wait until the next game anymore just to win the whole series because Game 5 will be on their homecourt at Denver, and it is the perfect place to enjoy their first championship trophy. The Heat did a good run until they faced the Nuggets and unfortunately, this will be the Heat's final and last chance as I don't think too that they can still win it back and force another game to extend the series.

If they will lose again at home, the chance that it might be the last game for them in their home court.

Nuggets will do everything not to give Heat another chance to force and extend the series
as winning their first title would be sweeter in front of their own crowd.

Though, anything can happen after this game 4, we really can't dictate the conclusion but instead
we can only speculate and vocally provide our opinions if how we wanted to see the finals.

I can feel that the Miami Heat's luck is just coming to an end. They already achieved a lot despite their current roster of underdogs. They can probably shutdown or slow down Jamal Murray later but there is no solution to stop this prime Nikola Jokic. Double-teaming Jokic will also open opportunities to the other Denver sharp shooters knowing how good the Serb is when it comes to capitalizing situations. The best way for Miami is to keep their defense high but at the same time, they need to shoot well. Miami had more attempts in game 3 which could have translated to victory if only they shoot well. My take is Denver will win later and then close the series in game 5 at home.

Meanwhile, things are also getting interesting as free agency is coming up. Chris Paul is expected to get waived by Phoenix but there's also the chance that he will be traded.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: June 08, 2023, 01:32:42 PM
There was a time when I think about the days when I was betting $2k max as my daily gambling budget. Maybe it was not that of a big deal that time when I had the luxury to do it but yeah, I did some thinking before if I only invested or HODL those coins for the long term. But did not come to a point where I felt remorseful.

Anyways, I don't have to delve into the past since there is nothing we can do to change it. But people that felt remorse might be a good sign since they realized that they gambled beyond their means. I will never say gambling is bad since I am doing it at a young age and even up to now and I am fine with it for as long as we gamble responsibly. Gambling is just a form of entertainment just like when we are spending money to drink and party, travel, and many more. Everything is not good when overdone.

What a move by Messi. But it's a good move because it is more on him being happy in the last years of his ending career. Miami is a great place anyways with superb beaches. Playing at Miami is also less pressure than in Europe where everyone is expecting him to perform like his prime years. But what is even more impressive is Messi's reluctance to accept the super huge $1.6 billion 3-year deal which would probably last for many many years as the biggest sports contract ever. It would've been cool as well since Ronaldo and Benzema are already in the Saudi league.

The Messi effect is already doing its work. Millions of fans flocked to Inter-Miami's social media accounts. The club is probably added with hundreds of millions in value too.
