1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: July 26, 2023, 12:33:59 PM
This fight is already expected, so hats off to both fighters, especially to the IBF and WBA champion Marlon Tapales for having the guts to do the undisputed unification duel right away. I hope this fight happens in the US but considering Inoue's demand in Japan which is the world's 3rd biggest economy after the US and China, it is most likely that Inoue stays at home for a while.

Since last night I've been talking to some of my boxing friends and all of us are having difficulty imagining how Tapales overcomes Inoue. Inoue will be faster and carries the bigger punch. Tapales is not a KO artist and is not known as slick or faster than Fulton. Tapales had been down several times in his pro career which means he is really beatable. Still, I believe Tapales has underrated power punches. Tapales is actually 9 wins, 1 defeat (by TKO) with 8 KOs starting from his first world title fight at the bantamweight division. Tapales also has a big heart and experience being a 2 division world champion too. So Inoue cannot take him lightly, especially from Tapales' counters.
1082  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think selling your property is better than taking loan? on: July 25, 2023, 04:11:28 PM
The answer really depends on the situation. If you are able to sell a property at a good price then it is probably the perfect answer. But in reality, it is not easy to sell stuff, especially second-hand stuff. Most will sell their stuff at a huge discount in order for it to be sold. But that is not a problem especially if you own more than one.

Taking a loan is the most common. This is a problem though especially if we loan thru huge interest lendings or people that offer quick loans but with huge interest rates.

In OP's story, his friend sold his refrigerator and washing machine. These two are very important to me and it is hard to live in my situation without them. So taking a loan is my best option although I cannot imagine taking a loan with big interest rates.

I am not rich but I have my own small savings and investments that I can pull out in case I need urgent funds. And people should practice the same way rich or poor.
1083  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: July 25, 2023, 03:45:58 PM
I don't want to make an excuse because I am from a country that I believe is overpopulated although families are starting to limit their number of children, especially in the mid-level and the professionals.

The government has the biggest role in terms of overpopulation and sparsely populated countries. It would be easier to manage underpopulated rather than overpopulated. In an underpopulated country, resources are too much which means employment is not a problem and people will be earning bigger since their demand is higher. Higher income means high the government will also have more funds from taxation and less problem of poverty. This also means the ability to get better deals from overpopulated countries that do not have a lot to offer rather than manpower and cheap labor.

1085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 25, 2023, 02:49:13 PM

Big win by Naoya Inoue. Now he is a 4-division world champion. Up next for him is to unify all the belts to determine an undisputed champion in this division. IBF and WBA champion Marlon Tapales went up inside the ring to remind him about their initial agreement of another big fight most likely in Japan once again.

The race to become the first ever 2-division undisputed champion (4-belt era) is still hotly contested. Terrence Crawford is now the favorite to be the first one as he gets his hands on Errol Spence Jr. next week. Lineal and unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk should've been the first to try if only Tyson Fury has the balls. Inoue is expected to have his own shot later this year and he is already highly touted as too much for Tapales.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 25, 2023, 02:28:19 PM

Many experts are divided on this fight, it could go either way and it will go to who wants it most, I'm sure their corners have scouted each other to see something that will give them an edge, this is going to be a very technical fight because both fighters carry the same skill, power and ring generalship boxing fans will not going to miss the fight, only two days, my excitement is double because one of the fighter I admire is fighting on their undercard which is Donaire, I expect both fighters to go for knock out but if the fight is too close the championship rounds could decide the fight

For me Naoya Inoue I really think that he got more power than Stephen Fulton while Stephen Fulton has an advantage with his technicality when it comes with a fight, for sure he will make Naoya Inoue dance in this fight and Inoue will have a hard time hitting him, and this was stated by Fulton he said that even if the Monster has the punching power that could make him win an instant KO, he got the technical powers and the fight IQ so Inoue will not hit him during the fight,

What coin-investor meant is the coming Crawford vs Spence undisputed fight next week.

Naoya Inoue got the better power since Stephen Fulton is not a KO artist. But there is something fight fans are not seeing or not taking credit for just because someone is knocking out opponents. Inoue is also a technical fighter, he is accurate and not just throwing punches in bunches with the hope of landing them. Inoue breaks down his opponents as well with his solid body punches.

Anyways, the fight is already done. Inoue scored a big 8th-round TKO. It was an easy shutout for the Japanese until he hurt Fulton in round 8. It showed that Inoue has faster hands, better accuracy, and his stamina remained the same in the second half of the fight. I got annoyed by Fulton's delaying tactics and I'm glad Inoue stopped him. Another thing that I noticed about Inoue is his underrated jab. Fulton had difficulty sniping his jabs every time Inoue uses his jabs and they were also landing despite the big reach discrepancy.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: July 25, 2023, 02:08:49 PM

I'm extremely excited for the playoffs now. I did small bets for tomorrow's games.
I am still looking forward to seeing your "match winners" bets guys, please share so we can discuss and bet if we're convinced.

For the upper bracket tomorrow, I am afraid to bet on some match winners because of the odds and unexpected wins of the upper bracket teams even if they are a team who already made a lot of losses.
The best example is Team Liquid, last days of the group stage, they really did well and made them to be in the upper bracket.

You already won your first bet. I am confused about who to bet between those teams but my heart wants Quest it won't be easy so 3 maps was a perfect bet.

I bet on GG here. Liquid might have won games lately but between its matches with GG, they are always no match. They met a lot in many finals this year and I doubt the outcome will change this time.

I also have ML bets on Team Spirit and BetBoom as well. BetBoom is my favorite team to have a real chance of giving GG a tough series. GG already swept all the majors and big tournaments this season and we'll see if it remains perfect by taking Riyadh Masters as well.
1088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 25, 2023, 01:35:36 PM
Which teams are closer to the championship this season? Tell me first 6 teams please so I'll refresh our poll. Smiley

Nuggets
Suns
Sixers
Celtics
Mavericks
Bucks

Do you think there is a team other than these 6 who can be the champions? Lakers, Warriors, Heat?

Interesting to talk about. For now, these are my top favorite picks:
Denver Nuggets
Boston Celtics
Phoenix Suns
Milwaukee Bucks

I don't see Dallas Mavericks as a threat in the west unless injuries are happening. I really doubt Luka-Kyrie works and the latter will always have something dramatic if in case he is not injured next season. They just came from western conference champions into failing to qualify in the playoffs when Kyrie joined them sacrificing some key players Finney-Smith.

Philadelphia 76ers will most likely lose Harden before the trade deadline if in case no team can satisfy Philly's trade demands. So I also doubt this team is capable of beating Boston and Milwaukee.

There are still key players that need new teams like Lillard and Harden. If Miami can get Lillard then they can be a force to be reckoned with. If Harden lands with LA Clippers, I still doubt their capability since both PG13 and Kawhi are always not able to remain healthy and play a full season. Maybe PG13 can but  Kawhi is a no-hoper IMO.
1089  Economy / Economics / Re: How is financial stability defined for you? on: July 23, 2023, 12:15:37 PM
Financial stability means you have a job or a business that enables you to earn enough money. Enough means more than your basic needs because you also need savings, emergency funds, and funds for entertainment, vacation, or buying some stuff to reward yourself.

But what we are aiming for is to achieve financial freedom. Financial freedom for me is earning enough money where I do not need to work hard for it. So it means I need to establish a stable business or build an apartment so I can earn a regular monthly income. I do not want to achieve financial freedom when I am already a senior citizen with a monthly pension.

and now:

Terence Crawford Reacts To Gervonta Davis’ Prediction For Errol Spence Fight

Quote
In a clip from before it was even official, Davis expressed extreme confidence in a Spence victory.

“Errol. I know for sure. Imagine we in a gun fight, right? And I got a metal shield, and the opposite person got a glass shield. Who gonna come out on top?”

“[It doesn’t matter] how much he run around, once them hands get on him it’s gonna slow him down … Ain’t no ‘if’ – he gonna touch him.”

Source: https://boxing-social.com/news/terence-crawford-on-tanks-pick-for-spence/

Well, things in boxing lend themselves to a lot of speculation, each person has their point of view, everyone says what they think best, and sometimes this must be respected, of course boxers are somewhat delicate when they talk about them, they can be good or bad things that are more delicate at this point, you have to know how to say them so as not to hurt their ego in any way, every boxer needs to have high self-esteem, a high ego, at least That is what we have always seen in every fight, and when someone speaks well or badly of a boxer, once in a while they can get a response , because they are messing with him , the spirits are there on the lookout.

If I were to collect opinions from boxers so I can use them in my betting analysis, I would avoid Shakur Stevenson, Tank Davis, Jermell Charlo, etc. Tank Davis is not just handled by PBC and Showtime just like Spence but both are very close friends over the years. I would be more interested if Tank Davis shows us a $5 million bet on Spence if he is really that confident, see if he is willing to risk around 10% of his last fight's purse. Or news that says Tank is now willing to stop cherry-picking and fight the real dogs at 135. Shakur and Haney are waiting for this cherry picker to grow some balls. Grin

Anyways, I already had a 1.77 ML bet on Crawford weeks ago. Thought of adding some but the odds are becoming more favorable to the turning 36 Bud Crawford.
1091  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: July 23, 2023, 11:35:38 AM
Objectively, buying is better than renting.

think of it this way, when you buy something like bitcoin or in this case, real estate, you're not availing service or something that is consumable, you're buying a commodity that will consistently give you profits. It's more of a barter trade than a purchase really, cause when you buy a $400k worth house, you're not $400k short of money after the purchase, it's a $400k traded investment that will consistently give you money provided that you take care of it. Of course renting has its upsides and all that but at the end of the day, buying real estate will always be better than just renting it, even the point of reasoning being the fact that houses are now expensive still goes back to buying real estate as a better choice.

Yeah, I think it is a no-contest that buying real estate is a win-win situation if someone has the amount of money to buy one.

With regards to taking a housing loan, I am not sure how much the yearly interest rate but if it is just near the rate of our usual yearly inflation then it is most likely worth it. It would be like renting but we own it after years of paying. This is actually a good deal. Besides, when we are starting a family in the near future, we still have to buy a house which by the time becomes more expensive. Real estate does appreciate over time and it is one of the most solid investments, especially in crowded and developing areas where the demand continues while the supply just like bitcoin is fixed.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 23, 2023, 11:12:45 AM
It would be a huge disappointment if this bout will not happen just because Stephen Fulton chickened out, many things have surfaced now and it seems that he is indeed scared to fight Inoue and have his first loss in his career. Well then if that's the case, he could've vacated the belts already and fought in the next weight class even before the bout has been made as that would save not just his own time but to the opposing camp as well instead of making such stories and headlines like this while the fight is already near its schedule.

I believe Fulton in the end is really willing to take on Inoue and there will be no postponement. Inoue and his team will probably change the way they handle hand wraps according to US standards. Still, I am doubtful Fulton will withdraw if in case Inoue won't agree with the way hand wraps are done. Or Fulton could ask for more money so he could agree. Both teams and the promoter made a lot of sacrifices to make this fight and these simple stuffs should not be a major obstacle. Fulton agrees to come to Japan because of the big money offer and Inoue's #1 or #2 pound-for-pound ranking which would open the way for more opportunities should he win or at least make the fight close.
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: July 23, 2023, 10:29:52 AM
Kinda expected that to happen but what really surprised me was BB lost to Secret 0-2. That was unbelivable and considering that Secret lost two games in a row on the 1st day, its kinda seems impossible for them to actually win against BB that even swept Team Liquid under the floor. Made decent profit on BB - Liquid then lose it all up on BB - Team Secret, what a day  Roll Eyes

Luckily I did not bet in this game because I did not want to go against Team Secret. I believe it was Map 1 that set up the momentum. The lane period went well on Team Secret and Armel and the rest were playing crazy DOTA. There were times when BB was able to catch up on their items but Team Secret was able to perfectly time their combos and managed to win crucial clashes. By the time BB went defensive, Team Secret was leading a huge net worth that enabled them to make risky huge dives and then finally get the win.

BB seemed broken during the 2nd map. Armel and Yamich started very well and once Team Secret started initiating kills, they were all over the map with BB nothing to answer. Hoping for Team Secret to continue these winning ways in their next games.
1094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: July 22, 2023, 12:37:10 PM
Meanwhile, hoping for Team Secret to make it to the next stage. These coming games against 9 Pandas won't be easy though. A lot of ties in the groups, I thought there are tie-breaker rules but I cannot find them.

They made it and the ties were settled by the match decider games though. It was pretty close for Team Secret but there was no doubt that they were going to make it considering that they were only playing against Execration. These teams are so bad on all Majors and International tournament that they dont really deserve all those spot

Picked these two earlier, Im confident with GG but PSG.LGD is way better than OG as well

Execration is like a bonus in every major and big tournament now. Still, it was surprising that they were able to steal a single map. Good thing for Team Secret to qualify but after 2 straight defeats, I am feeling they are done already.

Nice win by your LGD bet. It was the last that I expected to win. And here comes the GG's play style. I don't know but I felt like they are not yet giving their best. Good thing I refrain from betting on GG's series contrary to what my brother is doing. I focused on betting BetBoom's series, these guys are ruthless and they are my best pick to give GG a run for their money. Too bad my winnings are not yet enough to cover my losses on Team Secret. Cheesy
1095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 22, 2023, 12:08:02 PM
If clippers somehow manages to unload Kawhi and PG at the same time, that would be an insane situation, and Harden already played back with Durant for a while, him playing with Westbrook as well would be quite funny, well he technically did that at Rockets if I do not remember wrong.

In the end, we are going to end up with something good for Clippers if they can somehow manage to get rid of Kawhi and PG, they can't really easily do that because those players do not play all that much and they worth a lot right now, their contracts are huge so it is going to be a hard job. I believe it is not going to be simple situation and lets see what they can actually do. I think the biggest trouble for them would be the fact that no team has cap that can eat it up.

Yeah it's gonna be tough getting value.  Both going towards the back end of theor careers and both of them that never can stay on the court.  Think pg's most games was 50 something in like 4 years.  Knicks fans were clamoring to trade for him lol.  I was laughing at the players and picks being suggested.  Dude who is 34 and never stays on the court.  Nope no thanks.

At last, I can see some people that are in the same picture as me when it comes to PG and Kawhi's current situations. They're great players and maybe they still can play as star caliber but I do not think they are really worth the gamble if the Clips are planning to unload them. The Clips are playing for a long time without the huge chunk or around 50% of their salary spending.

Some desperate teams might be willing but they want the current updated health report on these stars and might take them if they are near to being healthy again. Still, I believe that they are too prone and will be injured again especially since they are already in their 30s. I bet they cannot stay healthy for a whole season if they play significant minutes every game, especially Kawhi.

-snip-
As for me, I may have lost a lot but I am still at a gain which is still very big compared to just investing into something traditional. So I am still thankful that I invested in crypto and I will continue to invest.
But Investing in some traditional assets can also be a good suggestion because you don't know when investment in crypto crashes.
Investment in the traditional sector can be a good backup for your crypto investment.
So run both then you will get a lot of benefits.

Yeah, exactly. I believe that investments should be diversified into many different categories like real estate, stocks, jewelry, foreign currencies, and many more. Many of these traditional investments though are very slow-moving. And as an aggressive guy that wants my limited money to grow quickly, I paid a hefty price which I hope would be my biggest mistake as I cannot imagine committing the same mistake in the future. I lost a lot of my local stock market investment which was then my main priority. My country is beset with controversies and corruption issues which makes it less attractive. Now I am hoping to earn a lot in the next crypto bull run as after it I am planning to focus on real-estate or other possible traditional businesses while waiting for the next crypto cycle.
1097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Beterbiev Vs Smith AUG 19 2023 SATURDAY IBF / WBC / WBO LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Title on: July 22, 2023, 10:51:37 AM
So now that Canelo Alvarez had signed a 3-fight deal with PBC, Bivol was hanging without an opponent. A pursuit of unifying the belt against the 3-belt holder Artur Beterbiev is in the picture but I wonder if both networks and promoters agree to a deal. But the longer this plays out, the more Beterbiev is disadvantaged due to his age so there is also the possibility that Top Rank and ESPN may not really want to match them unless Bivol can be signed by Top Rank.

DAZN and Eddie Hearn should let Bivol have a 1 or 2 fight deal under the exclusive rights of Top Rank and ESPN if they really want to happen it ASAP. The WBC is all about money so greedy Sulaiman can cancel or make an exemption on its nonsense ban on Russian fighters when given the right amount of cheque.

Well, to be honest, I pretty much hope that WBC will be bribed easily and that the right amount will do the trick to make the undisputed fight into reality before Beterbiev starts considering his retirement. I mean, the man is just a few years away from being a 40 years old and before his retirement phase, at least he can have that fight because it will be total waste if he will retire without having any chance of cementing his legacy.

If there will be no pressure from someone above, I think they can get the WBC's approval with the right figure since they are the only ones who are making a stand to stop the undisputed fight from happening. Other than that, both camps can begin their negotiation and it will be a smooth sailing discussion as long as Eddie Hearn will let Bob Arum to organize it as the latter have the right to demand because it is his boxer who got more belts to offer.

WBC should start to look on the bright side and just accept any offer that is presented on the horizon, there's no need for them to enforce these pressures because in the first place, these Russian boxers have nothing to do with what is happening up North, they are just a private individual who seeks a better future inside the boxing industry. It would be unfair if they will still enforce it these days as that's just like the same as racial profiling, sadly.

Bob Arum already said himself that the undisputed fight will not happen this year because WBC is still not inclined about it.
Link: https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/06/dmitry-bivol-vs-artur-beterbiev-wont-happen-this-year-says-bob-arum/#:~:text=By%20Sean%20Jones%3A%20Top%20Rank,current%20ban%20on%20Russian%20athletes.

That is a sad news because we are hoping that somehow this year, they can make a slight negotiation about the said undisputed fight while also working their permit with WBC in the safe side. Among the four sanctioning bodies, only the WBC is making a stand and while the remaining three seems inclined towards the fight because it's a nice paycheck for them.

And Bob Arum said he is in favor of WBC's Russian ban which means he is not also willing to make the fight. I honestly, do not get it, Bivol is an individual fighter, it's not like he is a billionaire or a hundred-million-dollar guy that is remitting huge sums of money to his native homeland. It doesn't make any sense and good thing the other 3 sanctioning bodies and even the UFC the leading MMA organization are not making a ban on individual athletes that needs to earn a living. I even doubt Beterbiev himself is not remitting money to his native Russia where 99% of his relatives and lots of friends are still there.

It's just hypocrisy, especially from the WBC, a known money-first and corrupt organization. I wish they never recovered from that bankruptcy when they lost a case many years ago.

Beterbiev is a nice guy but an upset win by Mundo is good for boxing as I am pretty sure Hearn is willing to pit him against Bivol for the undisputed belts.
1098  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing and trading in crypto: can make you or mar you. on: July 20, 2023, 04:30:08 PM
It's really true, especially for those that are doing margin trading and investing heavily in altcoins that are not even in the top 10. I used to ask a lot of crypto newbies why are they investing nearly all of their crypto investment budget, especially on meme coins and new start-up projects. Their answers are because they feel that they are already late in investing in bitcoin. Most of them wanted to become rich or richer and they did not know that they are already taken by greed.

As for me, I may have lost a lot but I am still at a gain which is still very big compared to just investing into something traditional. So I am still thankful that I invested in crypto and I will continue to invest.

We're already in the year 2023 and people nowadays are more educated than before. Unproven traditional beliefs are becoming obsolete except for those uneducated and people in faraway rural areas.

As for me, there are no-nonsense popular beliefs and statements that can change my mind unless it is well proven.

Gambling is mostly a game of luck so either you continue playing or you call it a day, the chances of winning and losing are still the same. So, we might need a proper budget or time in order for us not to overspend money or time.
