A dominating win by Denver Nuggets. This time they did not let the Miami Heat come near in the last few minutes of the game. They did have a hard time taking a double-digit lead in the first half but they did explode in the second half with Jokic and Murray taking over. Jokic is an absolute beast capable of shooting, passing, and rebounding which makes him very difficult to guard properly.

Coach Spoelstra though admitted that they lost a lot of the 50/50 battles which costs them the game. And it makes sense, Miami actually had 92 attempts but only made 34 compared to Denver's 41/80. The firepower and accuracy of Denver is just too much in this game but if Miami shoots better then they can still make this series close.
1282  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 08, 2023, 12:21:15 PM

Damn, Josh Taylor's last 6 opponents were all undefeated with a combined record of 133-0-101 KOs. This guy is not wasting all his years while his body is still in its prime. It's sad though that he became inactive due to injury. Taylor could have picked an easy tune-up fight just like what Catterall and Canelo did.

Meanwhile, Teofimo's comment about killing Josh Taylor is foul but actually corny knowing he actually lost his last fight if not for the corrupt judges. I cannot wait for their face-offs. I guess they are expected to be in their own receptions by tomorrow and a press conference is expected to happen later before the weigh-in. Josh Taylor should try something to bully Teofimo and lessen his confidence a bit before fight night.

1283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: June 08, 2023, 11:57:00 AM

And again, our argument that Donaire is not getting old, might go against him if the fight is going to happen next year.

It's truly unfair for him. Other boxers have already been given the opportunity to fight, while he has to wait for another chance just to get back into action. It appears that they don't want to see Donaire become a champion again, as his presence could potentially jeopardize the opportunities for younger contenders if they opt for a unification fight.

Donaire becoming inactive is his own doing for staying loyal to Richard Schaefer the owner of former Probellum who's been under heavy fire from the US authorities and in some parts of the world. No fighters stopping him from trying to become a champion again and even Santiago and the other WBC top-ranked fighters do not want a delay as it will also delay their chances of getting a title shot or increasing their ratings.

Anyways, several days ago I keep seeing from different sources that Donaire-Santiago for the WBC strap is already a go this coming July 15th. Hopefully, the venue is not in Mexico which would be advantageous to Santiago.

Just watched the series of Execration and Blacklist. They've just battled for the DPC points and placing but both of them are going to the Bali major. Blacklist ended as the 2nd place and Execration as the 3rd and there's the difference of the points they've won by 100.
While Bleed Esports as the 1st place for the DPC Sea. Right now, I'm watching the match of Boom Esports and Army Geniuses, one of them will remain on division 1 and that's whoever wins the series while the loser will be back to division 2. Boom won the 1st game.

Just as people thought that Talon emerged as the region's best team, they now failed to qualify for this season's last major. Talon only needs 40 points to qualify in the TI but now they need the luck to stay in the top 12 DPC ranking which is still very likely. But it signifies that the region remained hotly contested and it is a good sign because they need to up their games in order to compete with the best on the world stage. These 3 teams need to be competitive in Bali as they badly lack the points to qualify for TI.

Another team inside the top 12 that failed to qualify for Bali is TSM and it is almost certain that it will find itself outside the top 12 after the Bali major.
Things will change for those who are chasing to get qualified to TI because of the DPC points that will be distributed for this Bali major. Remember that this is going to be the last major for this year prior to TI, cmiiw. Too short for Talon as they only need a few points to qualify. While some teams might be up after gaining a lot of points after this Bali major. But I think that even after this Bali major, Talon will still be able to qualify and get a secured slot for TI. There are already 5 slots secured and Talon is on the 6th place because some teams who are gonna play in Bali are already qualified for the TI and that's not a competition anymore for Talon. But who knows, we'll just have to wait until it ends and see the calculations for the points.

Bali will be the last Major, and Talon is not in a rough spot but also not in a comfortable spot either. Whatever happens in Bali though, Talon will remain to be a strong contender in the SEA region. If ever they dropped to resort to the open qualifiers (which I know wouldn’t happen), they are one of the best teams with the highest chance to edge out other teams.

It’s less than a month before the quiet months start on the road to TI. I’m excited on the new teams that will be born to conquer the open qualifiers honestly more than those who will qualify the yearly tournament.

Yes, unless the teams at the bottom are the ones dominating the upcoming Bali major there is a high chance that Talon will be in TI without further competing in the regional qualifier and the last-chance qualifier. Qualifying again won't be easy for Talon if their DPC points aren't enough since all the current SEA representatives are possible to play as well knowing they need more points and a strong finish in Bali to secure TI slots thru the DPC points system.

The last major of this season is a month less. I am also excited to see the new teams rather than the usual ones. And I wonder if any of us here will be watching live irl. Maybe in the next bull run in 2025 I will try if a major is happening near in my country.

Speaking of Jack Catterall, he recently won his comeback fight against Australian Darragh Foley. He scored 2 knockdowns on that fight, but he can't finished the Australian, but manage to win 99-88, 98-89 and 97-90.

Who knows maybe after Taylor win here, the rematch could be back on track.
At least it was a clear win. Catterall is now back on track and should be looking for another title shot. He actually just signed with Matchroom after the closure of Probellum. A rematch is not that easy to make now since he is now tied up to a big promotion with an exclusive network deal. And Taylor might move up in weight anytime soon. WBA champion Romero is now mandated to face Ohara Davies who already lost to Caterrall before. A big domestic rematch in the UK is possible since I am expecting Davies to win although he might be fighting not just Romero but the referee and judges. Cheesy

If not for the inactivity, I guess Lopez is an easy x3 minimum. Anyways, I wonder why Taylor remained in this division when he is struggling to make the weight. Is it for money, knowing Lopez is a big money fight? Or is it because Top Rank cannot provide him a title shot at 147 where the 3 belts belong to PBC/Showtime and WBO champion Terrence Crawford just left them? But now that Crawford and Spence are facing each other for a possible 2-way fight, it is most likely that the final winner if there is no immediate trilogy will move up in weight and all the belts will become vacant. Taylor should stop forcing his body to make 140 and head on to 147 after this fight where he can request for a higher ranking right away since he became undisputed at 140.

I think he can still make 140 lbs so most likely he will remain in this weight, again maybe go back for a rematch with Catterall or fight who ever emerges as the new champion or the other belts which he previously held. It will be a tough for him to get a shot at 147 lbs as it was held by PBC right now. The best shot they can make is against Vergil Ortiz with Golden Boy, if he will win against Eimantas Stanionis.

He can make the weight but that means a lot of sacrifice. Instead of training for the techniques on how to win, Taylor will be spending a lot of his time making and maintaining his weight. Stanionis is not a real champion although his regular belt may turn into a real belt if the winner of Crawford and Spence vacates which is very possible. I also expect Stanionis to lose, it will be very hard to beat Ortiz, especially in his hometown of Texas, the most corrupt boxing commission in the US. Apart from Ortiz being an exceptional talent like Stanionis. Taylor should just position himself at 147 while the belts are still not vacant. But the big-money fights at 140 might be too tempting for him and Top Rank has no popular fighter at 147 after Crawford's departure.
1287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: June 05, 2023, 05:30:20 PM

I think the suggestion to interview the judges after the fight make sense. It may make sense why they gave such scores so that fans are not gonna be just scratching heads. Its not the first time as controversial fights happen over and over even in boxing.

As for Nunes vs Aldana, Nunes will still be the tougher fighter. Nunes being the underdog must be undermining.

That would be cool. Let these judges and maybe including the referees face the press in the post-fight conferences. It may consume some time and prolong the conference but they can make it once all fighters are done so it is up to the audience and the media to remain.

I checked the odds when you mentioned that Nunes is the underdog because that is surprising. Maybe you overlooked it. Amanda Nunes remains the favorite and it is not even close at 1.27 compared to Irene Aldana's 3.40. But an upset is not surprising, Nunes is vulnerable in her last 2 fights and she might be mentally different since she was badly destroyed by Pena. Aldana had been training already before she was announced as the replacement so this should not be a problem and she is heavy-handed.

Was that a holy shit game or what? Denver 1st home loss in the playoffs. Both teams led by more than 10 at 1 point in the game but Miami stayed focused and took game 2. WOW is all I can say.

Unbelievable. I was too confident that Denver can take the lead back until their defense seems to fall. I am starting to believe that the Denver Nuggets are in real danger especially if they will let Miami come close to them in the last minutes of the games. The Heat has the deeper playoffs experience and is used to facing adversities, tougher games including comebacks, and winning close games on the road and at home.

Denver is still the favorite to win this series but they better play defense, hustle, and grind hard even if they are leading 2 digits to avoid comebacks which is very normal to Miami.
1290  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: June 03, 2023, 01:22:28 PM
Yeah, the divorce could be an additional stress on him, but he should be focus on this fight. This is a different environment and weight class for him. We've seen his previous fight at 140 lbs and he doesn't look good, but he is taking a big risk in fighting a very game Josh Taylor who I still consider the best of the 140 lbs and it's going to be hard for Teo and his pysche war might not work against Josh.

Just saw Josh Taylor interviewed by Max Kellerman and realized that Taylor has been in this weight class for a long time now, and that is a huge advantage for him because he is very comfortable in this division while Lopez was not doing good on his last fight in this division and for Teo's style is tailored-fit for Taylor to look good in the ring and I predict that this might end via knockout for Taylor, considering that he will shake off those ring rust early in the fight.

The match looks like a big risk for Lopez which is partly true but Bob Arum or whoever from Top Rank masterminded this fight is making this nearly at par. Taylor might be very acclimatized in this division capturing all 4 belts. But he is known to have struggled to make the weight in his last fights and probably the same reason why struggled and had an off-night against Catterall. And lastly, Taylor is inactive. I am excited to see their face-offs. And I hope Taylor will KO Lopez, make his dad cry, and end the Lopez hype.

If not for the inactivity, I guess Lopez is an easy x3 minimum. Anyways, I wonder why Taylor remained in this division when he is struggling to make the weight. 1291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 03, 2023, 01:00:44 PM

Surprise hire.  It's a veteran team so I'm guessing they were looking for a coach who is open in terms of playing style.  Probably a right fit.  Too many times teams pick a coach who implements a system with players who don't want to play it.  Phil Jackson and the triangle with the Knicks was a good example of system and wrong team.

Well if Frank Vogel wants to return as a coach after the 2022 end of his coaching maybe he can surely make a viable play for them, but if not Doc Rivers is up and there are Rumors that he will be leaving the 76ers or the Phoenix Suns could take players instead of getting a coach instead, for me, they could throw away Ayton because there are some in court not understanding Ayton situation and Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton is not really looking eye to eye, so they can trade Ayton for Joel Embiid because Embiid might want trade and for me, the Phoenix Suns will be a formidable team in the west,

Doc Rivers was already fired by Philadelphia earlier which already picked former Toronto coach, Nick Nurse as the replacement. I doubt Joel Embiid will want a trade. The rumors circulating are probably due to the past exchange of words between Nurse and Embiid. But these days, superstars will have a say on the team coach so I assume Embiid is okay with Nurse and both of them are already in good relations. Maybe a Gobert-Ayton trade is doable.

Monty Williams is already with the Pistons. Still, 3 championship teams are looking for a coach, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Phoenix Suns. Very exciting and intriguing.
1292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10k investment on: June 03, 2023, 12:23:24 PM
But why not put some part of it into bitcoin? Maybe because bitcoin is not that sure to grow at least 3x in the next bull run? There's also Ethereum which has a good chance of doing a 3x in the next bull run.

I would like to diversify your crypto investment into at least 4 or 6 coins. You can try adding some coins that have less market capitalization for a chance of earning big than those coins at the top that are projected to grow 3x to 4x in the next few years. It would be something like this:

$2k - ADA
$2k - XRP
$2k - BTC
$2k - ETH
$1k - SYS
$1k - GALA
well, if after doing some research the OP found some good altcoins, then this is a very good choice. store assets in several places. but, I think not to focus on holding assets of more than 3 types of coins. Personally, I'd probably go for $4k for bitcoin, $3k for ethereum, and $3k for bnb. the potential for price increases that could occur due to the halving could be huge, especially for the three coins. If he believes ADA and XRP are good enough investments, then he just needs to adjust his investment funds. however I prefer to focus more on bitcoin than I tend to other altcoins.
That's pretty good when it comes to being verified but on the other hand I think rather than hitting the average like that overall it's better to make something more definite.
We must be aware that in any case I think bitcoin is much more worth it than anything else so it would be better to invest in bitcoin more than altcoins.
Even though in this case the return on alcoins is sometimes much greater, of course we must be aware that the risk is also much greater, so in this case it is better to be in something that is more certain than one that is at greater risk.

You guys have good points. What I actually presented is just a sample based on OP. I respect the picks and it could be that he did thorough research before coming up with those coins. OP prefers ADA and XRP over the very popular and more reliable BTC and ETH so I just made them all equal. And there are also my 2 other coins in the list that are more of a YOLO since they are less valuable but their potential for growth are higher.

In reality, I don't even have XRP and ADA. My current portfolio actually looks like this:
63% - BTC
21% - ETH
  7% - BNB
  3% - GALA
  3% - SYS
  3% - MATIC
1293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my small investment on: June 03, 2023, 12:02:27 PM
All cases are converted from minor to major. It doesn't matter whether the investment is big or small. Being successful in investing is a matter of debate. If the investment is successful, the type of investment will gradually grow. If the investment does not succeed, there is very little money to be lost on small investments. Influential investors also embarked on a journey through small investments. I would say it is best to start with a small investment in Bitcoin

Well said. I also believe that all investors including traders should start small. Although small may vary depending on the financial capacity of the investor. A million dollars might be immaterial for the hundred-dollar millionaires. Nonetheless, starting small for beginners saves us from the risks of losing substantial amounts while we are still getting more familiar and knowledgeable about the field we are investing.

OP is also investing every time there is a savings and it's a good trait. That's like doing a DCA already while bitcoin is still too far from its former highest price. Just don't forget to only invest only a part of your savings so that you will have emergency funds as well.
1294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 01, 2023, 09:08:34 PM
...

I smell that Ryan Garcia is just bluffing. But in Romero's case, it makes sense since he might not be able to hold the belt against the real contenders of the division. Garcia just came from a KO defeat so it's like an easier defense but financially big. But unless I can hear from Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia is just talking so people would see that he is not scared of Romero. But maybe this is doable if Garcia is really, serious. Both seem weak in the division but very popular so it is beneficial for both of them. And Garcia may not be able to get another title shot if Romero losses the belt to someone really good.

But there's also the promotional and network that both camps need to address. It is obvious that Garcia is the bigger name so I wonder if PBC and Showtime will allow GBP and DAZN to the event so the fight will go on. Just like when GBP and DAZN allowed them during the Tank-Garcia fight.

Yeah, hehehe, that could be the case again and again, I' curious as how the fight will turn out to be, because we all know that they've the same style, Lol, that is no style and just rely on their power to finished off their opponents. But the money that this fight can generated, perhaps the numbers could be closed to the Haney vs Loma in terms of PPV numbers?

However,  Rolando Romero-Ohara Davies Mandatory 140-Pound Title Fight Ordered By WBA.

Initially he said that he doesn't want to face Ohara Davies because he is a no-name fighter. But I guess he would have to follow the mandate of WBA because Davies is their mandatory.

It will be exciting until it lasts. 2 fighters that have very low defense and are not technically good come out swinging wildly until someone gets hit. Cheesy If both will do the trash talking then I am confident they can do better numbers than Loma-Haney. Both are Americans, PBC loyalists, and Garcia's fans will buy this PPV. I say they can do 300k-500k PPV buys.

Good thing the WBA made the mandatory. They probably thought that Garcia is just bluffing and it won't happen so they issue the mandatory. Ohara Davies deserves this title shot more than Romero. His only defeats only came from former undisputed Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall. I will definitely bet on Davies here. The only chance Romero wins is by KO or if PBC will buy the judges and the referee.

Team Spirit seems to found a way to get that juice back eh ? It seems that Larl is really fitted for Mid on TS because his play style is way more aggressive than Team Spirit is used to play with ...as Spirit is a team who likes to defend a lot and take fights on defense mode and rarely they go to swarm the map but somehow Larl is making huge improvements lately.  Smiley

And there you go, Team Spirit made another strong finish and is now sitting at 6-0 and will most likely secure the top spot and earn that juicy 500 points. Larl's an offensive machine which is what should expect from mid-laners. Not saying TORONTOTOKYO was a not killer because he was a beast before his play changed and his current position at BetBoom clarifies that he may prefer the role of support after spending most of his time as a professional mid-laner.

Meanwhile, things are getting interesting in other regions. TSM for the first time this season might not qualify for the Bali Major as nouns remains undefeated. The same situation at SEA wherein the loser between Execration and Talon will most likely miss this season's last major. Chinese DPC leading team Xtreme Gaming is also struggling to get a spot in its region. And there's also the Saudi team Quest Esports as a new team representing western Europe in the coming major.
1297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 01, 2023, 05:09:18 PM

I do have confidence that we will have a clean series between Heat and Nuggets and I also have confidence that all the referees will do their job properly in order to avoid extra conversations after the game or heat arguments between teams.

Tonight , we do have the first game and Heat have won first game in all their series and I'm thinking they will do the same today.  Grin

The Denver Nuggets should consider what happened last time when the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks with the help of the referee they cannot afford that to happen now that they finally managed to get to the NBA finals and no other team like them has been struggling in the NBA playoffs since then, they know that they cannot give the games easily and also not to fall into some kinds of misunderstanding in the middle of this series. They really need to win now or never because this is the only chance they have seriously.

I don't even think about the possibility of bad refereeing. There's a lot of talk about it during this playoffs and hopefully, those were enough and the officials will step up their job. Maybe some people are concerned because Denver is a small market to the likes of the Lakers, Warriors, and Celtics. Between these 2 finalists, Miami is the richer city but their team is a huge underdog so I am expecting none or at least less drama in terms of biased officiating.

I had a bet on Denver ML in this game 1. They are aware of Miami's ability to win under pressure so they are ready and will not feel overconfident. The offense of Denver will be too much as they will try to overwhelm the limited offense of Miami.

I had regrets before but it is mostly in crypto in general during the last bull runs, specifically 2017 and 2021. But it has never come into my mind about meme coins. Maybe Doge is an exception, but Shiba and Pepe are not on my list even now. We already know the risks when investing in meme coins. There are still a lot of new meme coins created regularly and they might turn into the next Shiba or Pepe, so to those that have regrets on Pepe and Shiba, you can take the risk out of the thousands of meme coins out there.

Personally, I would instead focus on the present and coming opportunities and on coins that have real intentions of having the use case.

It is not easy to convince anyone even if it is your parents especially when you are still a student. If you are from a well-to-do family, your parents are probably thinking about your guts to convince them about an investment when they are doing well financially. At the same time, you are still a student without proof that you are better than them when managing money.

The best way for you is to look for extra income so you can invest even a small fraction of bitcoin. There are many ways to earn online if you are just determined. No need to convince your parents right now. It is enough that you introduced them to what is bitcoin all about and that it is not a scam.
