1301  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 31, 2023, 12:32:46 PM

But if I were to pick a team, I would side with the Denver Nuggets. They are the #1 in the west and proved it by reaching the finals. And kudos to Denver's management for bringing very good role players into the team to help Jokic who always gives his best without much complaining while the other superstars are always pressuring their teams to provide another superstars and capable role players. So the team management is the big difference IMO. Miami is always contending in the east despite being short-handed with players only because their coach is just super good and flexible and Jimmy Butler's extraordinary leadership.

Obviously, everyone is choosing the Denver Nuggets because they are the better team. Right from the beginning, they have been the favorites to win in each round, in contrast to the Miami Heat who have consistently been seen as the underdogs, more like the number 1 seed versus the number 8 seed. It's not a difficult decision to make, and I believe only a few will choose the Miami Heat to win. That's why I like their chances of being competitive and potentially extending the series to a maximum of seven games.

Yes, it is not that hard when choosing between Denver and Miami. Unless someone is a big Miami fan or is always rooting for the underdogs which IMO is not very good in betting. But there are also those that are rooting for Miami because they beat the #1 team in the regular season and the championship favorite team.

I would love to see the finals reaching game 7 but my mind says it will be 4-1 or 4-2 in favor of Denver. Denver enjoyed a significant number of days chilling, resting, planning, practicing, and observing the flaws of Miami while Spoeltra's team may have been exhausted and suffering from injuries.
1302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price is always affected by world market news, why ??? on: May 31, 2023, 12:09:30 PM
It depends on what type of news. But most assets are affected by big news. For example, the news about world economic problems is still lurking up to this day. It is nothing to do with bitcoin but somehow it is related. When the world is struggling financially, we expect all assets to have limited growth or the potential to drop in value centralized or decentralized.

If people and institutions are facing economic problems, most of the time they will withdraw their investments. The rich will at least try to do anything to safeguard their assets by holding cash and waiting for the right time to buy back. While ordinary people will be forced to use their investments until they can recover and starts saving again in order to invest.
1303  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: May 31, 2023, 11:49:54 AM
When we are talking about food shortage we should also discuss about food wastage, are we not contributing to the wastage of food we have when others are in hunger, and we really preserving the little we have to sustain us longer or we abuse the opportunity of having enough and never appreciate it value, if one has been in the conditions of hunger strike then maybe they would have learnt how to avoid food shortage from wasting it.

I am watching some vloggers on Youtube and it is really crazy how a lot of stuffs including food are being wasted mostly in the rich countries. It's not that I am blaming them since they have their own set of high standards and most of these highly developed countries have recycling factories. And I just started to understand that sending those stuffs to poor countries or any countries that have huge poor populations is worth it since they need to spend huge amounts for the shipments and many of the foods can be spoiled without that expensive storage containers.

What is really sad is when poor countries or countries with huge poor populations are wasting huge volumes of goods. Like in my very corrupt country, cartels and third-party people are destroying our food supply system thru smuggling and controlling the prices. I can see a lot of stories where goods are rotten not because of over-supply but because the cartels and businessmen are controlling nearly everything in our food chains for the sake of their big profits. Less supply means basic goods become expensive and less hassle for them since they no longer need to keep on buying and reselling if there is an oversupply.
1304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 31, 2023, 11:27:02 AM
Agencies, teams, and NBA scouts have their own set of preferences. Some players are not that good but they have high potential to develop while there are already good already but they do not have more room for growth. There are too many very good players around the world and there are only 60 of them that will be drafted in the NBA. And there are also coaches like Popovich and Spoelstra that can turn ordinary players into something really good in their systems.
Occurrences like this should cause NBA team execs to rethink their talent scouting approach. The Lakers also uncovered a gem in the rough with Austin Reaves, or earlier Caruso. With all the focus on the draft the players left on the outside are a perhaps underappreciated talent pool.

Win or lose against Denver Nuggets, they are already in the history books. A bunch of undrafted players with an extraordinary coach and Jimmy Buckets...

Win or lose against Denver Nuggets, they are already in the history books. A bunch of undrafted players with an extraordinary coach and Jimmy Buckets. This Miami Heat team needs to get under so much pressure first in order to activate its X-factor thing. They are supposed to be the #7 but lost to Atlanta in the play-ins that they still need to beat Chicago just to join this season's playoff. And after a surprising 2-0 win in Boston, they lost 3 straight games which was so unusual that they really have to undergo a very tough situation in TD Garden for a chance to be in the finals.

I say, what a journey for the Miami Heat before heading into the finals. And let's not forget that they are missing some key players due to injuries. But somehow they beat the #1 seed in the whole NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the championship favorite Boston Celtics.

The journey to the final has certainly been very interesting so far. I hope the final is also going to be as interesting as that. I would really like to see a very competitive match. At the same time, I know people are predicting that the Denver Nuggets are going to be the winner, But I would actually like to see the Miami Heat be the winner of this final. I have always been a fan of watching those teams win which are actually the underdogs. Actually, I don't know if they can be called the underdogs, to be honest. After all the way they have reached the finals has been nothing but thrilling. I have high hopes for the Miami Heat.
Both teams deserved to become the champion but there can only be one. I am a fan of both although generally, I am more of an NBA fan first before teams and specific players. I just always want all the teams to become very competitive and I am glad that most of the teams nowadays are capable of entering the playoffs. And just like you, I am also a fan of the underdogs, not just in basketball.

1305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Lost it's Fervor for Percentage Gains? on: May 31, 2023, 11:06:15 AM
We should understand that the bitcoin market capitalization is now worth over $500 billion. It needs hundreds of billions of dollars to double its price which is still very doable but not so fast. This is the same situation with the other top altcoins like ethereum and BNB that became more valuable throughout the years.

In investing, stay realistic to avoid getting disappointed. The higher the risk, the higher the reward. So if someone is looking for an investment that can possibly x10 in the next bull run, feel free to do heavy research on some potential coins that are undervalued. Specifically, those coins that are not in the billion-dollar market cap.

Coins from the top 20 will no longer grow steadily and you won't make much money there. They are, you might say, low-risk investments that are likely to bring you money, but not much. Of course, right now it looks like coins meant for big capitals and institutionals and I partly agree with that. Coins like ETH, BNB, ADA, etc. are very poorly suited for portfolios that have liquidity of a few hundred or thousands of dollars. For 3-4 years of holding such portfolio investor will get max 500% profit, which is great for traditional finance world, but very low for crypto investments, the same SUI gave 5000% profit for few days to those who bought through WL.

I agree. I am looking forward to the next 2 years as another major bull run but the growth of the top coins are just limited. They might grow more but it will take more years of wait which makes the usual bitcoin halving cycle not enough.

I just noticed that you're staff here in Bitcointalk. It feels good to have a response from people like you. I am still looking for coins that have the potential to grow at least x10 in the next bull run. Any projects you can recommend or coins that you are keeping an eye on?
1306  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: May 31, 2023, 10:41:45 AM
Okay, ladies and gentlemen. It seems that we are finally told what is next for Errol Spence. Many reliable sources are already spreading the news about a July undisputed fight between Terrence Crawford and Errol Spence. But I will remain doubtful until I see both fighters in a build-up face-to-face marketing promotion. That is supposed to be a big PPV fight so I expect build-up conferences in some big cities to announce the big fight. Until then, I will remain this thread open. Also, I want to hear the WBC's official statement canceling its mandatory and allowing the unification to happen, otherwise, the WBC belt should become vacant. Or maybe Sulaiman is also doubtful about their baby Errol Spence and it needs further proof and evidence like a press conference to show that he is really willing to face the boogeyman who scored 13 knockouts out of his 14 last fights and that was since he moved up in weight.

The unification fight seems weird also since Spence is now the one being inactive and all of a sudden the always-keep-it-safe Al Haymon and Showtime approved this? Or is Crawford willing to sign with PBC and commit himself to Showtime after this fight? Nonetheless, I really really hope that it is for real and Spence won't make any excuses later on.

Isn't it official already that the fight between Spence and Crawford has been announced by both fighter and the promotional company itself? We really don't know what's going on behind those negotiations as Crawford has his own set of advisors and maybe this is the only thing that needed though, a more experience middle man to act as a broker, unlike before it was just Crawford directly talking to the big boss of PBC and so maybe there are terms that only an advisor understands and explain it to Crawford and then giving it the go signal and we even hear that there are a rematch clause involved already.

Yeah, it's official since it's been confirmed by Showtime at the very least. Although it seems like there are no press conferences and tours before they focused on their training camps. The date is a little early so there is no time for both fighters to travel to big cities around the world to promote this fight. But at least it is happening. I don't know if Crawford hired other advisors but I know he mentioned after the fallout of the deals that he will try his very best to personally talk with Spence. Unbelievable but it worked. Spence might be also convinced after the result of Tank-Garcia PPV buys that they can also do a hundred million PPV buys which can guarantee him and Crawford a minimum of $30 million.

And after seeing an online interview on both Crawford and Spence at the same time, I am more than convinced that Spence will have no reason not to go on with this fight. Maybe Crawford should not trash-talk Spence nor show some of his scary training because it might scare Spence and will declare another injury in order to get out of this big fight. Cheesy Thanks for all the contributions.

1308  Economy / Gambling / Re: is KYC data on Gambling sites safe? on: May 30, 2023, 04:34:29 PM
As much as possible most of us want to stay private and stay out of KYC for privacy purposes and since there are a lot of these sites that are selling or sharing information. I understand that we should have a separate email when we register to a gambling site but what about our mobile phone numbers? It happened to me that I am starting to receive emails and text messages from other sites and these are the consequences when we share part of our information.

But generally, I do not mind doing KYCs. I understand very well the importance of it. But they should keep our information private because it is also very important to us.
1309  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Failed DCA Strategy When Buying Bitcoin on: May 30, 2023, 04:11:10 PM
There is a possibility that the person does not have enough funds to risk in order to continue his daily DCA. This is the first time I heard about someone making a DCA daily. I don't think it makes sense. Maybe a weekly DCA as the shortest span. And DCA system is better used with a long-term goal.

Besides, people should at least familiarize things first before venturing especially if we are talking about big amounts. Over the years, bitcoin's halving is always consistent so far as where the price goes. You don't do a DCA when the price is at its highest or at least make sure that your DCA is enough to cover until the next bitcoin halving. What happened to this guy who is doing a DCA during a major bull run and was only capable of doing it for a few months.

Recovery is still possible though if the person is able to hold it until next year or by 2025.

1311  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: May 30, 2023, 03:13:07 PM
This is still very early, but I'm sure that we have heard Rolly Romero calling out Ryan Garcia after his controversial win against Ismael Barroso to capture the vacant WBA 140 lbs title. And with that, Ryan already responded as says,

https://twitter.com/RyanGarcia/status/1662519299083493378

We've seen Ryan Garcia already back in the gym, this time and obviously everyone knows about it, he has move to Derrick James as his new trainer and trying to be a slick boxer, hehehehe. And if ever this fight would materialized, this one is good to be honest, both has power, both has been drained at 135 lbs when they fought Tank Davis, so at 140 lbs and fully rehydrated, there will be a lot of fireworks and power in this fight. We've seen that Rolly is vulnerable to left hook, while Ryan's weaknesses is his body. So very interesting clash of styles, so hopefully we can see this fight later this year if everyone is really on board on pushing this one.

I smell that Ryan Garcia is just bluffing. But in Romero's case, it makes sense since he might not be able to hold the belt against the real contenders of the division. Garcia just came from a KO defeat so it's like an easier defense but financially big. But unless I can hear from Oscar De La Hoya, Garcia is just talking so people would see that he is not scared of Romero. But maybe this is doable if Garcia is really, serious. Both seem weak in the division but very popular so it is beneficial for both of them. And Garcia may not be able to get another title shot if Romero losses the belt to someone really good.

But there's also the promotional and network that both camps need to address. It is obvious that Garcia is the bigger name so I wonder if PBC and Showtime will allow GBP and DAZN to the event so the fight will go on. Just like when GBP and DAZN allowed them during the Tank-Garcia fight.
1312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: May 30, 2023, 02:53:44 PM
It seems like Haney needs more drama and antics if he wants to earn more than $10 million in the future. Maybe Josh Taylor if he continues to bully Teofimo Lopez during the press conference will have better numbers. Although it also needs Teofimo Lopez to do his own acting like what he did during the Kambosos fight but he seems scared to fight back knowing how good a 100% Josh Taylor can be.

I don't think that Teo Lopez is going to back down here, he already started his trash talking when interviewed about this fight. I mean we also know how big mouth his Father was and it adds to the whole villain persona of the Lopez and why most fans hate them and also one reason why they could sell any fights they want, specially his Father's mouth.

But yes, this is a dangerous thread that they are walking into, Josh Taylor, although might be having problems in weight or could have put pressure on his side when he fought Jack Catterall on his homecourt, is now reeling for a good comeback win against Teo so this is going to be a good fight, might go for a full 12 rounds punishment for Lopez in the hands of Taylor.

That's good then. Let these 2 arrogant fighters trash-talk each other and maybe do some drama in the press conferences and the weigh-in. Personally, I am not a fan of both but of course, we cannot deny the fact that Josh Taylor is a former undisputed champion.

The betting odds are not really that far off. Because Taylor himself performed badly against Catterall and then went inactive. I can only hope that as much as possible his request that the judges are not all-Americans. Maybe he should also request a non-American referee or at least get the approval of the possible referees. There's too much controversy in the US officiating lately due to the Loma-Haney and the Barroso-Romero results.
1313  Economy / Economics / Re: Retirement Age for Workers - Does this Make Sense? on: May 29, 2023, 02:28:17 PM
We are supposed to enjoy more of our lives when we retire so it's really hard to imagine seeing many of our elders continue to work not because they still have the urge to do it but because they need the money. In my country, 60 years old is the retirement age although they can still continue to work if they wanted to since our forced retirement is at 66.

I quit my regular job 6 years ago. Although after a few years of enjoying and traveling everywhere I like, I am back to looking for ways to earn a regular income due to the COVID pandemic. I still have no regrets that I quit my regular job since I am confident that I can establish another successful business soon. I'm loving the freedom of my time especially since I am a night owl. I cannot imagine anymore waking up at 5 AM or 6 AM in order to be in the office before 8 AM. And there is also that stressful overtime where most of the time I never received extra payments.
1314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to altcoins ? on: May 29, 2023, 02:08:08 PM
You have to understand that we are still currently in a bearish or accumulating period or let's just say recovering period. The usual bull runs in crypto are the bitcoin halving year and the following year. So you better invest an amount that is not needed since the crypto market may continue to have its swings this year that are unpredictable.

With regards to altcoins, many of us here in this forum hold altcoins including me. I also have ETH and around 10 more altcoins apart from bitcoin. If you do not like the volatility of altcoins then you have to sell some of them into bitcoins. At the moment, my crypto portfolio is 63% bitcoin, 20% ETH and the remaining 17% from other altcoins like SYS, GALA, BNB, MATIC, and many more. And I am not yet done buying altcoins and bitcoin. You can also invest regularly or the dollar-cost averaging method.
1315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stop gambling addiction? on: May 29, 2023, 01:48:38 PM
Everything that is too much is bad including eating. Sometimes it is not addiction, it's about the lack of discipline to put money that we are only capable of losing.  Then comes the urge to take back the losses which makes some gamblers continue gambling with money that is beyond its budget. This time, it needs to seek professional help.

So it's like it is better for someone that gambles daily but is responsible enough than someone that is not a regular gambler but always wanted to take back the losses which makes matters worse.

Nowadays there are a lot of choices for us to do once we are done playing or gambling with our allotted time and budget. There's not even enough free time for us to do them all.
1316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: journey to financial freedom on: May 29, 2023, 01:28:09 PM
No one is late when it comes to bitcoin investment. 14 years old is still young IMO. Although bitcoin has already grown a lot since its inception there's still a lot of room for growth. There are only a few million people in the world that holds bitcoin. Bitcoin is still far from becoming a normal currency worldwide like our fiat. There are only 2 countries that officially call bitcoin a legal tender.

Even bitcoin's previous ATH of $68k is far from the current price of bitcoin. I expect bitcoin to reach its previous ATH price by next year or by 2025. If we buy at today's price that is more than 200% of our investment in a year or 2. No financial institutions will double your money in that short span of time. Bank interests, bonds, and other government and banking instruments can only offer little returns and are usually not enough to cover inflation.
1317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 29, 2023, 01:05:49 PM
Alright Miami fans, prepare your cold beers later and fasten your seatbelts. There are a lot of figures to show like there is no team in the NBA playoffs that came back from a 0-3 deficit. It says there were 150 tries and none of them could win. Boston Celtics has a chance to make history and they are actually the favorites to do it.

While I have to admit that Miami Heat is really the underdogs here, I still trust coach Spoelstra and Jimmy Butler to lead the team to another surprising win. Their toughness and mentality should not able to get the job done. Butler needs to perform big time once again and contributions are also significant, especially on Adebayo whom I believe should step up offensively.

1318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez on: May 29, 2023, 11:04:49 AM
On paper, it should be the Canelo-Ryder and Loma-Haney as the most anticipated fights this month since they were for the undisputed belts but the sport is a business and fights are usually made not to cater to its hardcore fans but to bring the casuals and even those that have no idea to little know-how about the sport. So it was Davis-Garcia that became the most anticipated fight this month bringing 1.2 million PPV buys. It was reported that Loma-Haney PPV buys were only around 150k which is very very bad and it might also mean that ESPN and probably Top Rank too are losing money with these numbers.

I agree. But I guess that was on Top Rank's mistake because they thought that having Lomachenko in the equation will bring them the much-needed PPV buys and will help the event survive, although it's not as much as what the Garcia-Davis fight amass but at least the figures will be reasonable. But around 150,000 PPV buys? Boy, that sure is much lesser than expected as I think they are expecting somewhere around 400-500k.

Loma is always a headliner with Top Rank but I don't remember any of his fights on PPV. Haney is not even good in English and there is less Ukrainian blood in the US. I believe it is more on Haney being an American but boring with less power.

Anyways, 150k at $59.99 is already $9 million which should be enough to cover their guaranteed purse. And that did not include those who paid for the $9.99 monthly and $99.99 yearly subscription because of this fight. Plus the audience of 14k was really high probably because it was an undisputed fight. Seldom I can see a lot of personalities and some were even rivals to Top Rank and ESPN were there. So Top Rank and ESPN should be good or with less net income than expected.

OP, do you mean online communities? There are plenty of reasons why online communities will remain. I see no reason for online communities to get destroyed because a better version of a search machine arrived.

Communities just like Bitcointalk are for discussions. What Chat GPT provides is also available online which is possibly open for debates. The world is changing, and new innovations and discoveries are being made. History changed based on proofs as we progressed so does Chat GPT's answers.
1320  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: May 28, 2023, 02:34:51 PM
So if we are to based on Haney's tweets, he did not actually re-sign with Top Rank. And with this version of old Bob Arum not careful with his words once again, an affected Haney might really return to Eddie Hearn once again. DAZN has the deeper pockets over ESPN should it won't be surprising if Haney joins Matchroom again.

Haney's camp are being open about their struggle to make the weight. Loma was part of his contract with Top Rank so Haney will definitely move up in weight with or without Top Rank. Top Rank already offered Haney earlier the winner of WBO champion Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez while Matchroom offered WBC champion Regis Prograis. The only reason I can see Haney remaining in the division is a fight with Tank Davis which I believe is too difficult to make. PBC only picks weaker opponents for its bigger star.

The WBC retained Loma as its #1. Although what happened in the fight will only make Loma's ranking higher if he is not #1 since he actually won the fight, only that he lost to the judges' scorecards. If Haney moves up in weight then the WBA regular holder Tank Davis will automatically become the WBA Super champion. Loma is most likely #1 by the WBC, IBF, and WBO so he can choose any of the belts. Top Rank can make a double-header for Loma and Shakur before they unify their belts. But it will be very hard for the 4 belts to get unified again. Tank Davis will only fight Loma maybe 2 years from now when he depreciates big time but he will never fight a prime Shakur Stevenson.
