I place Sourav Ganguly in a higher regard than any other captain because he started the trend of winning outside India, earlier i remember clearly that when ever India tour outside the subcontinent there is no way that India is able to win but when Sourav Ganguly became the captain he started winning outside and he picked team members from club cricket and Dhoni was picked in the team by Ganguly and he promoted him in the batting order and he made wonders and he stick with Yuraj for a long time even when he was not performing with the bat and he was instrumental in India winning the 2011 world cup and Dhoni continued that legacy and now Kohli and now India is the best team in world cricket and it all started with Ganguly in my opinion.

I still remember those times... But the irony is that Sourav was regarded as "too aggressive" by many of the panelists and former cricketers and several times he was criticized by them for behaving in an aggressive manner. It was understandable, as most of the former Indian captains (Dravid, Azharuddin, Sachin.etc) were mild natured individuals.

He supported a lot of players, including Yuvraj. Also we need to remember that he was made captain at a very difficult time period for Indian cricket, when some of the star players were suspended for match fixing. Sachin Tendulkar had turned down the offer. He had 5 successful years as the team captain. However his differences with Greg Chappell led to the end of his international career.

These threats and blackmails are not going to work. At least when compared to the players from other countries, Bangladeshi cricketers are paid much below the market standards. And I have a feeling that they have targeted the wrong individual this time. Shakib is the backbone of Bangladeshi cricket and without him, the team is completely worthless. Shakib to Bangladesh is what Kohli is to India and Smith is to Australia.

There is still enough time available with the BCB to resolve the issues through dialogue. They should think about the betterment of the game and not give much priority to their personal ego. And from I have heard, the public opinion and mood is with the players and not with the board. Another thing is that, even if they manage to kick the players out or suspend them, the ICC is not going to just sit back and watch.

Why would the cricket board interfere in how they earn, if they are not able to pay a good salary and on top of that they will not allow their players to be their brand ambassador and earn extra revenue and what i do not understand is that what is the problem and why they are restricting players to earn like that, Shakib Al Hasan is the best players Bangladesh ever had and if they ban him then he might even retire and play in franchise cricket leagues around the world and make a good amount of money.

Exactly. The board's president also speaks about the huge losses they incurred which is around 90 crores Bangladeshi taka i.e equivalent to $10m when few players got into their personal deal in the same way. Board will definetely be seeking huge company from both Shakib and the company now.

Cricket boards around the world are facing the prospects of reduced annual funding from the ICC, after the rising administrative expenses forced the central body to cut down on the fund allocation to individual nations. Bangladesh was supposed to receive $118 million during 2016-2023 from the ICC, but I heard that this has been reduced $105 million. On top of that, Sourav Ganguly is teaming up with N Srinivasan to blackmail the ICC once more. If he goes ahead with his plans, then the funding for countries outside the big 3 will take a big hit.

@Clement Kaliyar these are the basic rules that each and every player is supposed to know and comply at all times. Skakib is an experienced player and in my opinion he’s guilty of breaching the contract, and he should be fined for it. As far as I know he’s only going to be fined, and additionally he’ll have to share the compensation with BCB which he received for endorsing the product hence his career is not in danger.

Now the only option for him is to cancel his individual deal with the telecom company. Else the BCB will terminate his contract and will not be giving him the NOC needed to play in the IPL matches. I still don't have details about his deal. There is a good chance that he had contacted BCB prior to signing the deal and the BCB used it as a weapon during the player strike after refusing to act on it earlier.

But the overall situation is quite damaging for both the board and the players. India tour is a very big event that may only happen once in several years. It is a big opportunity for the board to get some serious revenues. If it get cancelled due to their infighting, then they would be facing financial constraints for many years to come (in addition to punishment by the ICC).

The bowlers were very impressive, especially Shadab Khan, Mohammad Irfan and Imad Wasim. The top 3 batsmen also made good scores (Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail). But the concern for PCB would be the collapse of the middle order, which happened in this match as well. 

Even then, the early signs are good for Pakistan. Remember that they are coming to Australia after a humiliating series loss to Sri Lanka at home, in which they were white-washed by a below-strength Sri Lankan team. Australia is going to be a tougher opponent, and on top of that they are in good form right now (recently won the series against Sri Lanka 3-0).

The Pakistani seamers can be very effective on Australian pitches, especially Mohammad Irfan and the ever reliable Mohammad Amir. And I don't know whether Pakistan will select two spinners in their final XI. In that case, they need to make a choice between Shadab and Imad. Personally I would go with Imad, as he is a better batsmen. Also, there is a chance that they will go with 3 seamers and 2 spinners (Irfan+Amir+Riaz & Shadab+Imad). If they could tackle Warner, then they have a chance. Remember that he made 217 runs in 3 matches against Sri Lanka, without being dismissed even once.

Already cricket is a game that is limited to a handful of countries and its popularity seems to be on the decline in countries such as South Africa and West Indies. On top of that, if the other teams can't compete against the big three, then it will pose even more questions.

One of the reasons for the decline in the quality of cricket in the smaller nations is the ICC's policy of allowing foreigners to represent host countries. In no other sport, this is permitted. For example, there are teams such as Hong Kong, UAE, USA and Canada, where none of the 11 players are citizens of that particular country. This actually weakens financially weak sides such as South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies.

If the ICC policy was not there, then Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan will be playing for West Indies, Marnus Labuschagne and Colin Ingram will be playing for South Africa, and Fawad Ahmed and Imran Tahir will be representing Pakistan.

The individuals must be given the priority to live anywhere they want and i do not want any restriction to any of their freedom, these people moved out for a better living and you cannot restrict them and force them back to their home country just because they cannot play a sport, some of the policies ICC made is to support the Arab countries as majority of the players are from outside and none of the players are not even having citizenship and they are just contract players. So the question is where do you draw a line in this situation.
