Yeah they locked my account too. The excuse somehow is that I haven't signed in for 6 months. I asked them to unlock it and they start asking my "security questions" which of course I don't remember because I probably just made up something random for them and never expected to need them because I don't lose my passwords. I know my account name and password and have access to my email linked with the account. That is, according to them, not enough. They can't be sure I'm the account owner so they rather just steal my coins. What a nice customer protection. Really fishy, but the support "Gretchen" keeps acting as if they're even doing something legit. Why they bother, beyond me. (Just to fuck with people?)

After I did some googling including this topic and accused them of being obviously dishonest as you can read all over the internet, they stopped answering. It's now "Being Processed since 5 days 8 hours".

I'd taken most of my coins off already and I don't think I had much there, but still this makes me angry. Even more it makes me angry they're still somehow pretending to be legit. I really hope no one trades there anymore. Why aren't they already listed here as a scam site?  Angry

I don't think you can trade there even if you wanted, it's not working/disabled/whatever. What do you mean by "listed here as a scam site"? Where is "here"?

I is way more scary then that they where asking all kinds of information from their users to get "upgraded" while they knew this wouldn't help.
A company this shady holding a shitload of records from people.

Great thought. Did everyone who "upgraded" their account when told by jshock start checking credit reports and lock your credit?

Since they knew it would not help you get your coins back, there must have been a great reason for asking for all that wonderful data...
Also, since they collected all that data, and got hacked... can they prove your ssn and photo id was not stolen as well?

I don't know what the going rate is for someones identity... but im sure there are some craptsy employees looking for a retirement option.

Ye had the exact same thing happen , the fact that I had emails with confirmations for withdrawls in my inbox for less then 5 months ago didn't seem to matter.

This is a good point that hadn't thought of.  My account was already tier 2 so I think they have a lot of my info.  Luckily I had frozen my credit reports a long time ago so I'm somewhat protected.

I noticed a marked increase in spam I was getting 3-4 months ago. I don't throw around my e-mail addresses and my First Thought Was Cryptsy and that was before they stopped trading.

I'm Pretty Careful about my e-mails and 3 or 4 months ago I started getting a new Flurry of Spam. My First Thought was Cryptsy

Not to mention their holding critical amounts of several coins hostage for many months now.
I know some coins that had around 10% of total coin stuck in Cryptsy and their devs are getting No response.
Millions of coins that could be Dumped at any time. No chance that anyone in their right mind will put serious money in those coins since those Cryptsy thieves can decide they need some more money and dump them.
They still hold the power to fuck up a lot of altcoin markets.
The wallets have been "in maintenance" since before the official trading shutdown and "support" does fuck all to resolve this.

Crypsty may not get much for selling an identity, but don't put it past them or someone that worked for them.  And anyone that buys it can mess things up for you for a long time.

Stealing identities seems like a bit much.

That would cross a line that might cause real police to want to get involved.

Pretty sure the tier system was just BS to delay withdrawals.

Haven't been following thread for about a month. So is it confirmed that BigVern stole funds on purpose?  Did anyone that worked for Cryptsy said something or they are hiding like little bugs?

It's not confirmed but there was some ridiculous trolling from the presumed "hacked" and/or a "bounty hunter":

Nobody knows who has the money.  For all we know Paul Vernon and Jim Shockney have the money or it could really have been stolen.  Like I've said before, even if the money was stolen, Cryptsy lied to us and used our deposits to pay out withdrawals for other customers.  They are criminals either way.

And purchased two expensive cars and an ~U$1.3M home during the timeframe when Paul Vernon said that Cryptsy had to tighten its purse strings to get through tough times caused by the event which Paul didn't have a fuckin' clue as to what agency to report the crime to while assuring currently and future users at the time that Cryptsy complies with ALL FinCen regs going over and beyond the call of duty.

Back in July 2014, nobody was the wiser when Cryptsy's mega wallets were first uncovered, believing the funds were in safe storage. What's now been determined is that Paul Vernon sought and found a way to eventually make them bitcoins his own, namely using the rogue FBI agents et al. his narrative. Too bad for Paul Vernon - lucky for us - that the 3-LAs are onto his scheme, with now Paul and his close compadres fearing how long they're going be free.

Jim Shockney may feel smug when referring to me as a NUTTER, but at least I'll be a free nutter. HAHAHA
