He probably will not last long in China. For all we know maybe his new girlfriend was involved with him with the sole intention of getting him to China simply to fleece him without fear of legal issues. In order to leave little or no evidence of the crime she and her syndicate may have commited after taking Paul Vernon to the cleaners, maybe they took drastic steps to silence him.... permanently. No one knows if he is dead or alive.

Around a decade ago a Brit businessman met a Ukranian lap dancer online.
